For reference:
Tip:
Never interchange DVDs with different colored labels, or ones with versions less than what is printed on your current DVD. Navigation DVDs obtained from friends, Internet auctions or outside of the normal ordering process may produce error messages, or cause the navigation system to malfunction. The navigation system cannot utilize DVDs for other auto manufacturers, or other PC based navigation software. The system is not designed to play video movies or audio recordings.
(The DVDs also contain firmware updates ... that is why you don't 'go back' to an older disk.)
31. Will an update DVD be compatible with my vehicle?
Yes. The latest version DVD will work in any Honda or Acura vehicle with white-labeled DVD.
Note: Orange, black, white and turquoise-labeled DVDs are not interchangeable.

attempts to sort it out. Good Luck.
Negatives,
- no space when 3rd row is up.
- while the Ody can take four bikes inside, MDX/Pilot can even take my two kids'. asked dealer about bike hitch rack, cost $1,000 (they don't want to just give me the hitch, have to add all tranny things).
Any suggestion?
Does anyone have thoughts on relative adv/disadv of buying it with stock DVD system vs. installing one later? thanks.
Built-in navigation hurts vehicle depreciation (Straightline)
Btw, you get a 12.1" screen with a DVD player at car toys for $999. I dont know if that includes installation, but even if it doesnt, you get a 12" DVD player for about $1,200, about half the price. I am going to ask a dealer to exchange it (RES) for something of equivalent price - like the auto-dimming mirror + running boards + roof rails. Lets see what they say. Good luck with your shopping, - MS.
Acura sells Bike Attachments that mount on your existing roof rack for $135 each.
If you don't have the roof rack, that's $219 for the rails, and $215 for the cross-bars.
Either way, his math sounds off.
For $1,000, I'm assuming you do NOT have an existing roof rack?
If you do, just get the bike attachments.
If you don't shop Thule or Yakima for a bike rack and save $$$.
Please check before you buy!
What are the odds?
I firmly believe these are for looks only.
Wanna protect from door dings... park in the last spot in any lot, and wrap the car in bubble wrap.
Or, better yet, but 40 sets of trim, and stick them an inch apart from each other, all the way down the door. :P
Ugh, I hate door dings.
I wish people could be more careful.
Are these cables commonly available at places like BestBuy or Circuit City and how much should I expect to pay. Many thanks.

Are the roof racks functional without the cross bars to put on stuff like cargo boxes?
Should I get the dealer to do it or any suggestions for good installers in the Baltimore/D.C. area?
If your cargo box is wide enough, I don't think you need the crossbars. And I happen to think the roof rails alone make the vehicle look sportier ~ just MHO!
Any suggestions ? Is it hard to install myself ?
Thanks,
Sapphire
I'm getting my new MDX next week. The problem is I dont have a garage and I just happened to hear the news that there could be some hail storms heading this way. I know its Summer but it got me thinking of getting some car cover for my MDX.
Does anyone know of a good car cover for MDX that will protect it against hail and other weather conditions.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch
Thanks.
This is a great forum..Thank you!!
I have a dilemma I hope somebody can help me with this,
I would like to know if a stereo/radio 6 dc changer unit from a 2005 MDX would fit a 2004 MDX Touring. Both would have the 6 cd magazine in the unit and not under the seat.
I was looking in Ebay and they are selling one.
The reason I want to change my stereo is because I want to be able to install my IPOD, the 2005 stereo unit comes with a DVD/aux button my 2004 doesn’t have that button so if I hook it up to my present system I would either have to lose my cd changer or use the cassette deck, which I don’t like to begin with anyway (the 2005 doesnt have a cassette deck..making it look more modern)....any inputs! Thank you guys!!
(If I want to put an aftermarket unit it would cost me an arm and a leg because of the Bose system that comes with the MDX, for what I was told they would need to pretty much rewire the entire truck .not worth it)
I am not sure whether or not this was installed and what it looks like.
Can anyone who has had a dealer installed tow/hitch package look at the attached picture of my MDX and tell me it the trim kit was installed or not? link title
I can't post the pic here cause it's embedded in a flash window, and there's no direct like, but the pic looks just like yours, so I think yours is installed.
Thanks, JB.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, somno - this is higher than I expected so that's good for me. It appears from there than the tow bar is slanted down a bit but not too far?
I see that you have a 2007 so maybe the 2008 is slightly higher(?).
Anyway I very much appreciate your response -
JB
Nitrogen: A Noble Gas?
Handling
Fuel efficiency
Tire life
Cooler running temps
Better tire pressure retention
The only true claim is that nitro filled tires sometimes hold their pressure longer, with little escape of pressure.
The bottom line is that all of the above benefits come from one thing and one thing alone... Keeping your tire pressure correct.
What type of gas is inside my tire has little to do with how it wears on the outside, and certainly doesn't keep a cooler temp.
These are claims to fool the masses and it's working, as my dealer wanted $250 for Nitrogen.
I opted for good ole' fashion air.
I keep my tires at the recommended pressure and my tires will wear no faster than any filled with Nitro.
I check my pressure every 2-3 weeks (I don't rely on my tire pressure sensors alone) and so far, with 6,300 miles, I haven't had to add air to any tire.
Fact is, I'll lose more air checking the tires routinely than I ever would by using air instead of Nitro!
Save your dough!
I know my Acura dealer also offers it, but never inquired about it for the MDX.
I completely agree... I top off when necessary with my compressor.
Trips to the dealer for 1 or 2 psi is absolute nonsense.
I have heard there are internal "racks" that does the same trick. How does it work in real world? Is it easy to install? Does bikes stored inside the car make the internal messy and dirty?
If you do a lot of biking, you may want to re-think the hitch rack. Putting bikes on a roof mounted rack on a low car takes quite a bit of effort...putting the bikes on the MDX roof rack (especially without running boards) will certainly take a lot of muscle and effort. In addition, you take the risk of forgetting you have bikes on the roof (out of site, out of mind) and causing considerable damage when entering a low overhead barrier (such as my friend did when re-entering his garage with the bikes on his roof).
You can have an inexpensive hitch mounted to your MDX and get the Thule T2 rack that I bought. It takes about 15 seconds to put the bike on or off this rack (including fastening or unfastening the wheels) and a 10 year old can do it.
Internal racks do work for some people. My bikes get dirty enough (and not to mention the grease on the chains and other parts that love to stain the inside of your vehicle) that I strongly prefer to keep my bikes outside the vehicle.
This is clearly my personal opinion and others may differ. But the hitch rack really works for me.
I have a rack that I made myself, which I used in the back of my Toyota Tacoma and it stood 2 bikes upright in the bed.
This rack works inside the cargo area of the MDX, but you lose the second and third row, and if you're going anywhere with luggage, the bikes aren't coming with you.
Dirt and mud were other concerns.
I bought a Thule rack for the top of the car, and it mounts right onto my existing factory roof rack.
It consists of cross-bars which sit atop of my existing cross-bars, and then the bike holders mount to that.
I was hoping to not need additional cross-bars, but once installed, you don't even know they're there... very low profile.
The bikes are not too difficult to get on top for me, but there's no way in heck the wife is doing it herself.
I open the rear door before putting the bike on so I can step further into the car and it's quite easy for me to just pop them on.
The rack looks awesome, give the MDX a great look, and holds the bikes super tight and secure.
The whole thing was less than $250 (2 bike holders/including locks)& I installed it myself in about a half hour.
