Make sure that 30600 includes destination. That's always a nice low ball trick.

I'm looking at a leftover 2009 Touring Demo without PAX with 5400 miles and wanted to find out what a fair offer would be. I'm planning to take advantage of the 2.9% financing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The dealer is asking $34,988 and $625 for destination for the grand total of $35613 without TTL. I believe that this is still too high since this is a demo and 1 yr old. I don't know if it would be better to wait to see if Honda offers any incentives on a 2010. :confuse:
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
A new 2010 would cost$ 38000. A new 09 would cost 36500 [only 1k more than the demo] - maybe less if you can find one. I'd take the irs allowance for mileage 56 cents times the miles and pay no more than 32000-33000. Otherwise buy NEW.

OK macqandalf, Here are the other features the Touring has above the EXL:
    1. Fog lights
    2. Programmable windshield wipers
    3. Memory mirror/reverse tilt down
    4. Body colored parking sensors
    5. Chrome colored tailgate
    6. Driver seat memory
    7. Power adjustable pedals
    8. Larger alloy wheels (17")
    9. Tire pressure monitoring sys. - Touring tells you which tire is low!
    10. Corner and backup sensor indicator (you looking at adding to EXL)
    11. Miles to empty indicator.

So....some very nice features! When I drove it I wanted it! So if you can get that for your wife - wow. She be happy! I don't think there is any difference between the 09 & 10 car, but I'm not an expert on this. I started to get a Touring at Carmax, but decided to get the new 10 EXL. I think y'all will love the car either way. The extras are very nice! But you don't have to have them. Let us know what you do.

For what its worth, we surveyed this forum for months. We just missed the heavy June discounts on the 09 models. We debated and finally decided to get a used 07 instead of the new 10. By doing this we saved roughly 10K and got ourselves an excellent looking and driving minivan. We still get the Warrantee (and almost went with the Saccucci Honda Care)...the dealer ship matched their online price.

Every dealer in our area (NE) tried to pull crap with us...except for Curry Honda in Chicopee MA.

If you are buying in the MA/CT area, consider Curry. Other than updating their really nasty bathrooms, they have pleasant enough folks who seem to be straighter shooters than those in the area.

    Hi,

Wow!!! That's a pack full of features. Thanx for your research. I'm getting fatigue over the chase of the left over 09 Ody. Probably will give it a rest til after Thanxgiving.
Just came out to the last two 09 Ody Touring this afternoon with the wife. One place was asking 38988 which was more than one quote I got for the 10 Ody Touring @38498. The other one was outright nasty. They have a 'demo' being used by the owner of the dealership ~5K to 5.5K mileage on it. They asked what I would offer, and I said 35K minus whatever is fair for 5K mileage. The salesperson asked how I arrived at the figure, and I walked him through the calculation. His boss came back, and threw a sheet of paper on the table quoting 38K wholesale value which he could asked for, and said for you, minimal price is 40.8K??? I said amicable no thank you, and walked out. Not until an hour later that it dawned on me that the guy was probalby just got pissed off, and was trying to get a rise out of me (the offer was 33.5K - this figure was adjusted by their own salesperson) :(
My wife is not hot on neither the NAV nor the parking sensor (but I am - as I think she likely will need the sensor, and myself the NAV)... I still hold out hope for the 10 Ody Touring, maybe...:) but we definitely will need the room of a minivan. Thanx again. Will keep you posted.

I finally bit and bought a 2010 ExL with R + N for 34,200. I know it wasn't the lowest price I have seen on this forum but it was the lowest in the area and my wife got the color she wanted. As long as the wife is happy, all the world is OK!

Thanks to everyone on this forum whom gave advise and buying experience. Good luck.

    Hi everyone,

I just found this blog! Great advice! I'm looking at buying a 2008 EX-L with NAV and DVD. 22k miles. They are asking 30500. What do you guys think is reasonable for this?

    Thanks in advance,

    dg
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Considering you could buy a new 2010 exl with full warranty for about 31k and spend 300 for a navigation and dvd player--you be the judge. A 2010 exl with nav & res would be about 34k.
  • tpalmer1tpalmer1 Member Posts: 19
I think $30,500 is too much. I bought a new one (EX-L w/nav and DVD) in 2007 for $31,000 and I probably overpaid a bit at the time. It's a good vehicle, though. I'm thinking $26,000 or so, but I'm sure FMV is probably in the neighborhood of $30,000. It's work the extra $ for the factory DVD and Nav. No wires, etc. and the factory system is pretty good (big Nav screen and backup camera & the DVD system can be played over the stereo system or the children can use the DVD system with headset while you listen to the radio or XM). The backup camera alone is probably worth the price as long as you use it. For someone like my wife, though, she still backs into cars, mailboxes, light poles, etc., so the backup camera doesn't always help.
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
Somewhere in the $24 to $25K area. It is two years old. Maybe worth a little more if Honda Certified.

I got a price on a 2010 Toyota Sienna with leather, moonroof, DVD and NAV (EVP#4) for $32228 plus TTL. $30,500 is way high IMO for 2008 used.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
If your budget is high mid to high 20's and new is 31k -- BUY NEW !! The dealer won't come down enough on that used one anyway. Used car prices are way out of line.
  • dg2008dg2008 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the replies so far.

I should mention that the car is certified with a 4yr/48000 mile warranty and a 7yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. I also am trading in my 2003 MDX with 166,000 miles on it for 6k they said.

I was going to offer 28k and see where it goes.

    Seem reasonable?

    Thanks,
    dg
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
The 6k is separate. Since you keep your cars forever -- I still say new is the best deal. Only 3k difference from new at 28k. If the ody had 10k miles or less -- maybe but at that mileage -- hard to justify. But if you feel it makes sense---I've been wrong before so go for it. The warranty starts when the car was originally sold not when you buy it. You have 2 years and 26k miles of protection maybe less if the vehicle was sold in the late summer of 07.

I agree with jayrider. I was offered 34000 plus tax and tag for 2010 EX-L model with DVD and Navi. If possible, go for 2010.
  • drdddasdrdddas Member Posts: 4
Got a 2010 touring model for 37700 plus tax and title. OTD came around 40,300 with few option package.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Thanks, drdddas, made my day. :)
  • jesupjesup Member Posts: 5
It's not a 3K difference on the used EXL+NAV+DVD - it's 3K difference between that and a new 2010 EXL. As mentioned above, 2010 EXL+NAV+DVD is more like 34K, or a 6K difference. The person who started the $31K idea was saying "get a 2010 EXL for $31K and add DVD+NAV for $300". You aren't getting anything like factory NAV+DVD for $300...
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
True but the vehicle it comes wrapped in is an 08 with 20+k miles. If you really value the factory nav and res that much then go with the 08. The garmin nav is great and I use it rarely so a factory unit would not be worth it to me. I think you can get some pretty nice res units -- I was referring to the basic cheapo. Bottom line is that if YOU feel better with the 08 then you should buy it. Easy peasy.

Just purchased a 2010 EX-L w/ NAV & RES, with fog lights, for 34000 (including destination and dealer fees). Closed the deal in Sept but waited 3 weeks for the color we wanted to come in. Good luck to all.

Hi, we plan to buy a 2010 EX-L. Does anyone get a good price for it recently? We are in Columbus Ohio. Should we wait until Nov. incentive come out? Thanks a lot!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Why not wait until new years eve at 4 pm? Bet you get a good deal then.

Gave up shopping for Honda Odyssey. Dealers not giving good enough prices. Did find good price on 2010 Siennas at Germain Toyota Delaware OH.

Seems like the Toyota dealers are more willing to deal than the Honda dealers in my area.
  • dgrodgro Member Posts: 6
I'm seeing the same thing in cleveland. I'm looking at 2010 Ody EX and Sienna LE w/ evp#2 (comparable cars). Sienna is at least 3k less. Willing to pay more for the Ody but not sure about that much more.....It would be nice to see some incentives on Nov 2nd..
  • cbus5bohicacbus5bohica Member Posts: 5
After shopping for many weeks. I agree that there are no deals in Columbus for a 2010 Honda Odyssey. I was looking for a 2010 EX-L. Best price was 31,700 at Lindsay Honda. I don't think we are allowed to reference sales people on this site - but email me if you want to know who I was dealing with... I ended up going with the Sienna XLE (value package 3 plus a few extras - included parking assist, and 17 inch wheels) -- Much better deal. Save 3K and my kids are happy to get the factory DVD - I am actually going to Fitzmall Toyota based on suggestions on this site. My flight is less than $60 on SouthWest to Baltimore. Sales guy is picking me up. Again, I would be happy to give a referral if emailed. Have been on this site for a long time -- great information to make an educated purchase decision.

Forgot to add -- Central East Region Toyota currently has a $750 rebate
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Nice way to save -- was the price at fitz the same as the internet price or did you do a bit better? Was it an 09 or 2010? Leather?
  • cbus5bohicacbus5bohica Member Posts: 5
    Internet Price
    2010
    Yes, leather

Toyota Seinna 2010 XLE model 5346, with the following options,
    1) XLE Extra Value Package #3 (Leather, heated seats, moonroof, DVD)
    2) Front and Rear Intuitive Parking Assist
    3) Carpet Floor Mats/Door Sill Protector
    4) Fog Lamp Package
    5) 17" Alloy Wheels
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Congrats -- some folks are bound to a particular manufacturer irrespective of other options which are better values. The best way to lower odyssey prices is to have people buy more siennas. Looks like you saved 3-4 grand for a well equipped van. Several years of free gas depending on how much you drive.
  • goatee9goatee9 Member Posts: 6
which dealer did you get it from?
  • bandrflbandrfl Member Posts: 5
Lucas Honda in Jacksonville, great buying experience-no hassles at all. Quoted the price over email, never went to the dealership until I picked up the van.

    Hi Mac,
I'm in OC, what did you end up buying ? Hardin Honda quoted me for 10 Ody EX-L + RES + NAV for $35,241. I know in this web site they don't allow names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information, but if you can give me your full name. I would really appreciate.
  • brgerfliprbrgerflipr Member Posts: 3
Black on black at Koon's Honda in Manassas, Va. OTD $39,950.

Hope this helps someone as this forum has been great to me too. :-)
  • dg2008dg2008 Member Posts: 3
    Just to update.

I ended up buying a 2007 EX-L without NAV/RES with 19000 miles for just under 24k. It is certified and I got the extended warranty for 7 years/100k miles.

    Thanks for all the advice.

    Hi,

    I just ended up buying a 2010 Ody EX-L R&N today at Spreen for 30008 -> 36763.39 OTD.
The Hardin people told me they sold that unit that night or the next day. I am not sure if they actually sold it, or sold it to someone at higher price, but would no longer accept that quote. The one they 'sold' was supposedly gray ext, gray int. Supposedly there is a blue one coming in, and 35249 was the price they quoted me on return (was there with my wife to look for a Touring). My wife was not amused to say the least (I thought I wrote down 33249, but she pointed it out that the second quote I wrote was 35249 on their card). Needless to say, I was banned to do further business with them. I emailed them, and they were quite wishy-washy about it. Actually suggested to me that we were talking about an 09 model (which they did not have one, and was trying to bait and switch us to come in to begin with). They sort of admit that their agent probably made an honest mistake in making that quote, but one of their manager was actually there to okay the offer, since the agent could not make that kind of offer. At any rate, you would not find that price there.
You're right, for legal reasons, could not give you details of contact information otherwise.
Autobrag is a good start, as it listed most reputable dealers who do business with them within 200 miles radius of your zip code. To save you some leg works, Colonial Honda quoted me an EX-L R&N @ 33508, but their internet manager is rude. He was anxious in getting my response, but then hung me out for 2 days with delay tactics (not in, not answering phone or email inquires). Finally when I got a hold of him, the unit was sold. I guess, the lesson is, once you got a good quote, they would want you to come in to haggle it out, whoever got there first.
Spreen just have a Halloween special with 500 off written quote, so I got mine for 30008. Truth be told, I don't think it would be the lowest price (probably around 32k if there was Honda incentives @2500 again), but at 33K it was close enough (I figure I'd have to wait til next year for this to happen again). I didn't get the color the wife wants, but beggars could not be choosers.
I email Weir Canyon Honda to see if they would match to save myself the drive. They responded too late (Spreen offers ran out today), but they were saying they could beat that price (for a Touring too). Since I already committed, I hope you find this lead useful. Spreen has an EX-L left, but more might come in. Check with them. No one else in OC would talk to you at that price. Best of luck.
    Thanx everyone for your input.
  • macgandalfmacgandalf Member Posts: 25
Sorry for the typo. The price was 33008 not 30008 (that would have been a STEAL)
  • nobonobo Member Posts: 305
Darn, for a monent there I thought Honda had started dealing again when you said 30K.

I purchased a new 2009 Slate Green Touring without PAX yesterday with 5400 miles (dealer demo) for $35K including destination charge with the 2.9% financing. I traveled just over 2 hours to get to the dealer and he did not want to honor the $35K price with the 2.9% financing...he tried to say that price was only good if we didn't get that low APR. My husband became irate since I had been clear that I would agree to that price only if I would get the 2.9% financing incentive. Then they tried to low ball my trade but I stuck to my guns that I wanted KBB fair trade or the deal was off. I traded in a 2004 Honda Odyssey EXL with RES with 99K miles. They did match Saccucci Honda's warranty price but asked if they could charge $1 more to show a profit on their records. I agreed because I didn't have to hassle with the online ordering of the warranty and I was able to wrap it into my loan. The finance mgr showed me a print out that Saccucci quote of 84m/ 120k miles/ $0 deductible of $1160 is actually at dealer cost! I didn't go with the 8 yr/ 120K miles because I will definitely exceed the mileage in less than 7 years. I don't know if I would recommend this dealership...they didn't even vacuum the interior for us! The vehicle was clean but there was some small torn paper pieces in the back. The van came with mud flaps and wheel locks as well. I did find a dealer in my area that offered the 2010 Touring for $37500 (but had to be ordered) with 4.9% financing up to 72 months and a 2010 Silver RES and Nav EXL for $33,800 including destination (on the lot) only good thru the end of yesterday. I didn't want to wait for the van to be ordered in and wanted the extra options of the Touring with the lower 2.9 % interest rate so that is why I decided on the 2009 demo. Plus the dealer who offered the 2010 thought that the 2009 was a really good price instead of pushing his sale of the 2010. I know that in June people were getting better deals but I wasn't ready to buy back then.

I almost forgot to ask...what all season floor mats would you recommend to protect the factory mats? I was leaning towards a clear mat because I don't know how gray would look with the olive interior and black mats show a lot especially salt from the winter roads! Has anyone tried the Exactmats? Thanks everyone who contribute to this forum.

I have an 08 EXL that I purchased during 4k mfr to dealer incentive, my cash price for the 08 EXL was 25760.04, had it 13 months put 30k miles on it (did a lot of summer traveling) and backed into a dumpster causing 4k damage. Car was repaired by honda dealer. Car is otherwise flawless. The dealership called out of blue seeking to make a deal. I kinda have a relationship there cause I purchased two other odysseys there. Here it is.. they will give me $25500 for my 08, sell me an 010 EXL w RES for $32215. This includes fog lights, mug guards, pin stripe, cargo mat, and front windows tinted. Dealer fee is $399, tax is around $500. This creates a total difference to get the new car 7700ish dollars. Do you think this is a good deal? Does the 7700 dollars calculate to my approxiamate depreciation given the miles and the accident? I know the RES adds around 1500 dollars to the price of the car. Any other suggestions?
  • macgandalfmacgandalf Member Posts: 25
There was a dealer cash back for 1250 ending 11/2, which is not applicable if you do the 2.9% financing. That's why they argue with you over it. Slime!
