Was looking for a Accord in my area. Tried the BlastFAX technique -- this one failed miserably. No response.
Did lot of searching and figured out two dealers locally -- one who was 900 dollars more than the other. After lot of searching in this forum, I got a feeling that Georgia dealers were atleast $1000 cheaper (even after considering their high dealer fees of 399) than the local ones. I was little concerned about drive from atlanta and did not have enough time to beat the end of quarter deals. So I started looking out for good deals from Chicago.
Got multiple quotes and looked at reviews for dealers (did not know if they were authetic but relied on it anyway). The prices I got were from 19.3 to 19.9K incl destination charge for 07 SE accord auto.
I decided to pick three dealers from Chicago who did not have any adverse reviews on the net. They were in the mid to upper range.
Went to this first dealer. Earlier in the week, the quotes I had received were 19.5K incl destination charge. I had then asked him include all fees and give me OTD without taxes -- he gave me 19.807 K.
When I reached the delaer I had not verfied if the car was available thinking I can always go to another dealer. When this dealer informed me that he did not have the color I wanted I was ready to leave. He was persistent and would not allow me to leave. Finally I gave him an optional color which he said he can get the car in 2 hours. While I was waiting he went multiple times inside (this dealership had very few customers and I think only I bought a car there that day). Then he wrote down the following number: price: 19750 doc: 57
I argued with him .. he said the quote still was 19.807. I verified with him multiple times that it should include all fees now. (my first mistake: should have insisted -- stick to 19.50). In order to expedite the process he asked me how much I will put down and took my credit card for cash down (my second mistake: never give credit card until final finance checkout). Again I verified that the temp tag should be included. He said it was $75. I told him I got quote for $10.
When we went to lunch I thought about walking out of the deal but was not sure how much time he will waste giving us our credit for the cash down.
By the time we came back to dealer after lunch, he had the car but managed to tire us out by just plain wasting time. He knew that we had to drive a long way to reach home and would agree to anything in the finance dept.
The car already had 80 odd miles since he drove it from another dealership. When we reached the finance dept -- he had added the following extra fees $30 temp tag. I argued about it but he refused to admit that it was total OTD that he had promised me. FInally I had got so fed up with it that I paid that. The whole process took -- 11 am to 5:30 pm. Quite gruelling.
The moral of the story is that preparation helps but these guys are master manipulators so keep the credit card/check safe until after they are ready to give you the final documents. If you do that you have the option to walk out. Once he has your credit imprint he has already assumed control of the situation. Second always agree to OTD price and verify that at final check out. For me it was complex since I was going to pay other state tax and figured I would pay in local DMV so I asked for OTD without taxes -- which never worked becos the dealer took out the tax there itself.
So even though I did my homework,I was not assertive. So I landed up paying 280 dollars more than I should have and wasted 4 more hours than I should have. I realized later that 57 dollars (and maybe $10 temp tag) was the only dealer fees necessary. In fact in IL, the paperwork says dealers cannot charge more than certain amount for documentation.
On the plus side, I did get him to agree to provide me HondaCare warranty for the lowest price I got on the internet.
On the bright side -- I beat the local dealer monopoly and saved about 475 by going to Chicago.
I was offered $19742 inclding dest charges, before tax, tag etc. The only thing I am running into is the "dealer fee" which is ranging from $300-$500 depending on dealer. Out the door would be right about 21450.
I know I posted this, but maybe you missed it. The dealership in Louisville KY where we got my daughter's Civic last month said they would do invoice for either SE Accord model (I4 or V6) and that price includes the car, destination, and dealer fee (and 30 day temp tag). All you would add would be TTL unless you are going to pay them out of pocket at home. Invoice is $20,087 which is just a little more ($280) than your promised price and would have been about the same price as the deal you ended up with. I have purchased a couple of cars from them and it was no BS, in and out quick, no games. It would have also saved you 160 miles and 2+ hours of round trip driving.
I agree about that good feeling you get when you get a nice deal out of town. You should not have to do that, but my local dealers will not deal like some of the other ones will - so I get to save money and get the satisfaction of not giving them any business.
Yes, that is pretty much standard stuff these days. When getting a quote now you need to get car w/destination and dealer fees so you can compare.
Invoice on that car is $20,087 so you are right about at invoice when you count the dealer fee - which is really not a bad price this early in the 2007 model year.
The dealer in Louisville, KY will do invoice including their dealer fee, if that is close to you. The Atlanta, GA area dealer quoted me $19,710 for the car w/dest and dealer fees included if that is close to you.
Otherwise, getting the car for around invoice now including the fees - I would say go for it. You may can do a little better later, but who knows how long you will have to wait to save a little more money.
I started with a quote from Grand Honda and they said $19842inc dest.(did not say if it included dealer fee) and then I went to see if anyone would match, so far only the one has offered to beat by $100. One dealer was was rather shocked I would ask him to sell below cost. I am in FL.
Unfortunately, I have to get a car this weekend and I may just pay up. I made over $3500 more selling my other car privately rather than taking the trade in offer so I can't be too mad.
Hennessy in Woodstock, GA (just outside of Atlanta) is the GA dealer. Depending on where you are in FL it may not be too far - but based on your FL quotes you may not save enough money to make it worth the trip. The quote I had is 2-3 weeks old and it is possible you could get a better price today - it might also be a little higher. You can get one via e-mail from a link on their web page.
Grand's prices do not include the dealer fee, but their ad shows it to be $53 or so - I think that is the IL law limit on what they can charge. Chicago is a LONG trip from FL, though
I've been going back and forth between a couple of dealers but I think I finally got a decent price through a dealer in College Park, MD.
First a dealer in Woodbridge, VA quote $19189 + tax + tags ($39) + $399 processing fee. The $19189 includes Door Edge Guards, Wheel Well Guards, Pin Stripes, Mud Guards, Floor Mats, Wheel Locks.
I took that offer to the College Park Honda Dealer and they counter-offered with $19189 + tax + tags + $399 processing fee. Their offer includes everything in the previous offer (except the pin stripes) but they will throw in the security system plus installation at no extra charge.
Out the door cost (including price, tax, destination fee, dealer fee) = $21634.
$399 for processing sounds high for MD. All of the dealerships that I visited in MD charged $99. You might want to go back see if you can get this fee reduced.
Dennis -- I had seen your mail about Louisville but the idea was since there were so many dealers in chicago, if one did not work out others might. But I never got the opportunity to test that.
Where is this dealer in Louisville KY? I'm looking for a 06 EX-L (probably wont find one...) and can or would go elsewhere away from the stlouis area to find one...or might consider a 07 if i had too. Nobody around here seems to have anything, and as a female, dealers are well...you know the story. Any tips?
I know. It is ridiculously high. I was going to ask them to reduce it to $100 but then they threw in the security system and agreed to add the options the other dealer had (Door Edge Guards, Wheel Well Guards, Mud Guards, Floor Mats, Wheel Locks)so I left it alone.
I asked the dealer in VA to reduce the dealer fee and they flat out refused so they lost my business. The VA dealer also quoted some high prices for a few of the accessories. I told him their prices were ridiculous. I laughed and we parted ways there.
Well, we just got back from picking up our Accord SE 4cyl Graphite Gray for the $19742. Out the door $21487. Maybe not the best or worst deal but we HAD to get a car this weekend.
I'll get to the point, I have been going around the Louisville, KY area to get quotes on 2007 Honda Accorde EX L V-6 6MT without land navigation, I got a quote for:
$26,895 includes destination $876 Front and Rear Spoiler $627 Rear wing spoiler $328 music link $484 fog lights $126 splash guards $70 wheel lock $122 trunk tray $68 door edge guard $160 all season mats front and rear $319 day and night mirror $421 roof rack $148 bike attachment - all of these accessories include installation costs
$165 processing fee $6 state and local test, (not a resident of KY) $30 license, title, registration
out the door cost $30,859.75
also they included an extended warranty 8Y/120,000 for $1680 would make the car $32,269.75
Is this a good deal, I feel like the cost could be $1000 less, any opinions??
Well, the price of the car is only about $1,000 off of sticker. Invoice on the car is approx $24,680.
It looks like they made a killing off of you from the number of accessories you bought (tell me about your floor mats; mats should be included in price of car). Also, $1,500 for spoilers? Door Edge Guard?
I think you could've done better, to be real honest. This would be a good price on a NAVI equipped car though. Also, I've read on here I think that an 8/100k warranty has a dealer cost of $825 (see post #12898 I think). Shoot for under $1,000 on that warranty.
The way I see it, you've paid nearly $33,000 for a car that should've cost at most about $28k OTD. Those options RARELY increase the value of the car (things like door edge guards, spoilers, etc...).
It IS just my personal opinion though, and I could be wrong!
I'm trying to buy one in a week . The best quote I got is 21,150 plus fees and Accessories. Is it good ? What is the trick about fees and Accessories? I ask the dealer but they haven't reply yet. This is the first time I buy a new car. By the way I'm in San jose CA
Despite what the dealership may tell you, prices for accessories are negotiable. If they are unwilling to work with you on this, the don't deserve their business (and let them know that).
One dealer told me the security system plus installations was $399.00 and the auto day/night mirror with compass plus installation was $469.00. I decided to not do business with him because he was obviously trying to rip me off and add a high processing fee.
Another dealer told me $283 for the auto day/night mirror and $302 for the security system (both prices included installation).
The qoute you got from College Park Honda sounds good to me, especially with all the options that you listed. $399 for a security system is a joke. According to the Costco auto buying progrom, it is priced at $194 MSRP.
He's talking about the optional all-season mats. Those are extra.
However, I agree that they are charging way too much for the options. You will have to pay for some because you've ordered so many, but read past posts about how many people get those for free.
Edmunds will list the invoice price for those accessories but dealers can and will set the price they choose. That price is just as negotiable as MSRP for the car.
I just purchased a 2007 EX V6, auto/w/nav system in the Dallas area on Saturday. Dealer had also installed interior/exterior protectant, trunk protector, splash guards, wheel locks and moon roof wind deflector. I added the trunk lip spoiler (installed) and offered them $28,000.00 (plus taxes/fees/etc) They took the deal. Did I do okay or is the dealer still laughing?
It also depends on the rest of the deal, trade-in, financing, extra "fees" etc.. You bought some high margin junk accessories too, but it sounds ok from what you posted. It's too late to worry about it now.
Nissan/Infiniti owner wandering over to the Honda forums for assistance.... My sister is looking to purchase an 07 EX I-4 manual. She has a connection via my brother to a dealer in central PA (she lives in Philly.) Anyway, here's her offer:
MSRP $23,145 incl. dest Offer $21,220.
I don't know what the terms of the offer to her is, but let's assume it includes destination and has the customary "+TTL" to be added. I read a few pages back on the forum, and it looks like that's a good price, but she could do a little better, say $20,800?
Either of those prices really sounds decent and worth making a deal on, although it doesn't appear that the 'connection' is doing much good. Good price, yes. Terrific/Outstanding? Not particularly. But it is a sound offer.
Hello everyone, i just made a purchase for a certified pre owned 2006 ex coupe with leather (4 cyl and 19k miles). i paid 22,750 OTD, so yeah absolutly nothing else. Even though it seemed a lil high to me being that it already had 19k miles on it they did give me a decent deal on my trade in. Was i way off in the price though? Btw i live in south easth FL.
I was browsing these forums, and I must say, there is a wealth of info here. I am looking to buy an Accord SE automatic and am getting some offers from local dealers. So far the best offer I got was roughly $20,300 before "fees". I know they can probably do better. Another dealer told me when I walked in, $2000 below invoice (probably a quick pitch), and told me to come back when I reconsider. However, I looked them up on the BBB and they have an F rating with 92 unanswered complaints plus I read a lot of complaints from dealer ratings online. What do you all think? Any and all advice will be awesome.
Been talking via email with several dealers in and around the Houston area. Finally one dealer agreed to my offer of $24,500 out-the-door price including dealer installed window tinting. Considering the tax rate is 6.25%, this equates to a sales price of the car for less than $23k. Is this a decent deal? Anyone have buying experience in the Houston or TX market for this type of car?
This is for jko28... can you use that cleaner for bugs on the front of the car? I bought a brand new accord with the alabaster paint... I don't have any problems. But, in florida we have these love bugs and they are stuck on the front of my car... I don't know what to use that won't mess with the clear coat. Thank you
i doubt if you will find 06 anywhere now. maybe one with hail damage or such.
my suggestion is to get an internet quote and then go and negotiate further. have your target price in mind. I think for 07 EXL the target should be 22.5 or less.
Dennis is the guru and he bought some from louisville
I just got my latest internet quote from a local dealer...
Vehicle: 2007 Honda Accord SE-V6 Sedan AT MSRP: $24,470.00 (wrong :confuse: ) Invoice: $21,043
$20,900.00 Selling Price 1,463.00 7% NJ Tax 234.00 Registration Fee 289.00 Documentation Fee 7.50 Tire Tax ************ $22,893.50 out the door (cash deal)
I asked about adding Rear Spoiler and auto-dimming rearview and got these prices:
- Rear Spoiler: $575 - Auto D/N mirror Base: $385.00 - Auto D/N mirror attachment: $79
So, with accessories: $24,005.23 out the door (cash deal)
I assume the "Registration & Doc fees" cover the title and registration/license. I have looked at the NJ DMV and these might be a little high. The accessory prices are high for my tastes... Any suggestions on what to try to get reduced first or realistic targets?
I assume the "Registration & Doc fees" cover the title and registration/license. I have looked at the NJ DMV and these might be a little high.
well, you might want to press them what is included with that reg fee. 1 year registration is like $64, i believe (depending on weight class, which i'm not sure where the accord falls, could be lower), and a title transfer fee is $25. So, yeah, unless there are other items in there, its high.
the doc fee has nothing to do with anything in real life. Its a fee tacked on by the dealer to "cover our paperwork." And, yes, $289 for this also seems high.

The car has 4 miles when I was buying it. I don't know which anti-theft system it is, but there is a red light blinking when you leave the car, and the mannul says that it will sound 2 minutes if somebody wants to get in forcefully or tries to open the trunk or do some vandlism..
I purchased it from honda carland, Atlanta after one month research. (no trade in, pay cash)
Did you get the car? This sounds like an awesome deal given that the dealer is willing to provide lifetime powertrain warranty. And did you say that this deal also includes lifetime free oil changes? I have never heard of such a deal.
I think the SE that you listed with the options should cost roughly (and this is my own opinion based on qoutes from MD dealers and MSRP options) $21,600 OTD. That leaves a difference of $609, which the dealer probably hopes to keep if you neglect going to them for warranty work.
Here are some things to consider:
1. How far is the dealership from where live or work?
2. If the dealership is far way, how likely are you willing to travel to that dealership for oil changes and powertrain work?
Not sure but I just bought a 2007 EXL with Navigation and a V-6 engine and I paid $29,200 out the door. Granted, I don't know how great my deal was but from the other quotes I got my deal was not too bad.
I paid $29,200 OTD for the EX-L coupe V6 with navigation but I did not get some of your "extras." Is your car the coupe or the sedan? But how much did you end up paying after taxes and fees? Your deal may have been similar to mine.
Just wondering how often and when dealers get new stock delivery... I guess it might depend upon their inventory, but was just wondering if there was a set schedule of when that big old truck with stacks of Accords shows up in the lot. I would like to time it so I go into a dealership right around when they receive some factory fresh Accords.
The deal requires that he follows the dealers recommended maintenance schedule at any price the dealer wants to charge and have 100% of the work done at that dealer and then get a powertrain warranty that is valid from 60001 miles to until you sell the car and that extra coverage is only valid at that dealer. It is not that fantastic of a deal.
"Four-year Accelerated Registration Program MVC implemented the Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program on October 1, 2004, requiring all owners of new passenger vehicles to pay the registration fee in full for the four-year period"
Hence the $234 registration fee I was quoted. The doc fees are a different issue.
Is anyone getting better than $20,900 including destination ($595) on the V-6 SE AT?
I would imagine that you can. I took my car back to the dealer and they re-detailed it. It took care of the problem. If you want to keep the car smooth as silk, use Meguiar's Quick Detailer. The bugs just hose right off (of course, PA bugs are probably not as bad as FL bugs)!!
Let me complete this aspect of my thread before it gets out of hand (or too political, at least). Please comment on the price quoted if you could... I would like to buy soon
"• If you have a new leased vehicle you will have to pay the registration fee for the term of your lease. If your lease agreement extends beyond the normal calendar year expiration period (38-month leases as opposed to 36 months), you are also required to pay for the next full year’s registration period (48 months) • The Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program and the initiative to extend inspections for new vehicles from two years to four, will enable MVC to coordinate the terms of registrations and inspections (Registrations and inspections for new vehicles purchased after Oct. 1, 2004 expire on the same date) • Refunds will not be given for any unused portion of the four-year registration • The Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program includes all vehicles purchased for business use unless the equity in an unexpired registration is transferred "

You might want to go back see if you can get this fee reduced.
missaa
I asked the dealer in VA to reduce the dealer fee and they flat out refused so they lost my business. The VA dealer also quoted some high prices for a few of the accessories. I told him their prices were ridiculous. I laughed and we parted ways there.
The security system $399.00

$165 processing fee
$6 state and local test, (not a resident of KY)

Dealer offered lifetime powertrain warranty if all servicing is done at the dealership (oil changes, etc). Any thoughts on this?
I was browsing these forums, and I must say, there is a wealth of info here. I am looking to buy an Accord SE automatic and am getting some offers from local dealers. So far the best offer I got was roughly $20,300 before "fees". I know they can probably do better. Another dealer told me when I walked in, $2000 below invoice (probably a quick pitch), and told me to come back when I reconsider. However, I looked them up on the BBB and they have an F rating with 92 unanswered complaints plus I read a lot of complaints from dealer ratings online. What do you all think? Any and all advice will be awesome.
Thanks
my suggestion is to get an internet quote and then go and negotiate further. have your target price in mind. I think for 07 EXL the target should be 22.5 or less.

Vehicle: 2007 Honda Accord SE-V6 Sedan AT
MSRP: $24,470.00 (wrong :confuse: )
Invoice: $21,043
$20,900.00 Selling Price
1,463.00 7% NJ Tax
234.00 Registration Fee
289.00 Documentation Fee
7.50 Tire Tax

$22,893.50 out the door (cash deal)
I asked about adding Rear Spoiler and auto-dimming rearview and got these prices:
- Rear Spoiler: $575
- Auto D/N mirror Base: $385.00
- Auto D/N mirror attachment: $79
So, with accessories:
$24,005.23 out the door (cash deal)
I assume the "Registration & Doc fees" cover the title and registration/license. I have looked at the NJ DMV and these might be a little high. The accessory prices are high for my tastes... Any suggestions on what to try to get reduced first or realistic targets?
289.00 Documentation Fee

2. If the dealership is far way, how likely are you willing to travel to that dealership for oil changes and powertrain work?
when we bought my wife's pacifica, they claimed to be able to have us pay for multiple years up front, which i thought strange.

Outragious!
It is not that fantastic of a deal.
"Four-year Accelerated Registration Program
MVC implemented the Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program on October 1, 2004, requiring all owners of new passenger vehicles to pay the registration fee in full for the four-year period"
Hence the $234 registration fee I was quoted. The doc fees are a different issue.
Is anyone getting better than $20,900 including destination ($595) on the V-6 SE AT?
I didn't know it was required. That's interesting. What about those who lease for less than 4 years?? hmmmm...

"• If you have a new leased vehicle you will have to pay the registration fee for the term of your lease. If your lease agreement extends beyond the normal calendar year expiration period (38-month leases as opposed to 36 months), you are also required to pay for the next full year’s registration period (48 months)
• The Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program and the initiative to extend inspections for new vehicles from two years to four, will enable MVC to coordinate the terms of registrations and inspections (Registrations and inspections for new vehicles purchased after Oct. 1, 2004 expire on the same date)
• Refunds will not be given for any unused portion of the four-year registration
• The Four-Year Accelerated Registration Program includes all vehicles purchased for business use unless the equity in an unexpired registration is transferred "
