LOL, same here. We've had at least 5 hondas through the years. They're usually dark in colors so maybe that's why I never noticed the paneling before.
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    pgrunner,

I live in Los Angeles, california and the tax is about the same percent is yours...tax/lic will equal to approx $1,900..but this amount is included in the $20,575 Out The Door! I now have another dealer willing to knock off a couple more hundred dollars off the $20,575 if i go with their dealer. I will do what you said...wait towards near the holiday or end of month. Thanks Much.

It would seem to be easier to compare deals in different areas if the poster would give the bid price from the dealer excluding any TT&L costs, but including destination charge and any fees added by the dealer. The OTD cost is important to you as a buyer, but not for comparison purposes for viewers with different TT&L costs. Take care. Ralph

Thanks to all for posting their car prices, I thought I would do the same.

I purchased a 2007 Honda Accord 4 cylinder SE Auto from Planet Honda in New Jersey. The following is a breakdown of my cost, which I believe to be $648 under the invoice price posted by Edmunds.com.

2007 Honda Accord SE Sedan AT

    $19,440.00 Selling Price (including destination)
    1,360.80 7% NJ Tax
    234.00 Registration Fee (cash deal)
    289.00 Documentation Fee
    7.50 Tire Tax
    ***********
    $21,331.30 Out the Door

According to Edmunds.com: MSRP is $22,220, Invoice is $20,088 and TMV is $21,571 (each inclusive of destination charge).

I was a bit worried that the internet department would not respect the deal – as no other Honda dealer in NJ came close to this price. I was in and out of the dealership within an hour – no hassle at all except for buying an extended warranty (I did not purchase as the price was outrageous compared to other internet sites for same HondaCare warranty). I did tell them that I would post my buying experience on this website – maybe it made a difference? I would buy from them again.

Just posted for future buyer’s information - no need to let me know if I got a “good” deal or not. :shades:
  • amaoamao Member Posts: 38
Longhorn7, your documentation fee seems ridiculous high. I believe NJ has capped that fee to less than $200. You might want to check. But the selling price was very good.

Pricing we got on our no-frills 2007 Accord LX Automatic :

    $18,880 Price & dealer fees
    1,462 Tax
    182 Reg Fees
    _______
    $20,544 out the door

    Hope that helps :)

    Hey Longhorn,

Sounds like you received an EXCELLENT Deal! Congratulations! I am just days away from purchasing a 2007 Honda Accord LX, automatic... in the Los Angeles area. The best quote from a car dealer so far is $20,575...but another Honda dealer said that they will beat that price by 100-500 bucks. Maybe i will just ask them to sell me the Special Edition for 20,575. I really want the 6 cd changer that comes with the SE. Anyway...thanks again for sharing your figures.

I am swamped with talking to dealers....

I am going to buy a new honda accord 2007 -ex 4 dr. my lowest quote that I received was- 21000 and Out of the door - 22400 $ (inclusive of tax and tags)

Is this a good price for an ex -no leather? Could I go lower than this if I wait till the holidays or next month?
can I shop for the extended warranty else where? :confuse:

    Paul
  • ralph9ralph9 Member Posts: 88
Hi Paul, There is a discussion forum in the Accord section about extended warranties which should answer your questions.
I would get bids which include the destination charge and ALL fees from the internet sales departments of as many dealers as you wish. It will be possible to quickly reduce the list by removing the highest bids. Check their on-line inventories to see if they have the model and colors you desire and ask for a bid on those particular vehicles. You will be able to determine the best deal and sometimes you will be able to get the dealer to throw in some free accessories like mud flaps etc.
You are already way ahead of how I purchased my first Model-T. You are doing your due diligence, so don't get overwhelmed by the process. The finance processor will offer some things which may not be desired by you, so be careful with that part of the transaction. After you make your purchase, know that it was the best possible deal, and don't look back.

    Hi Paul,

I am swamped with talking to dealers too! Sounds like that is a very good deal...but i am no expert. I have narrowed down to 3 car dealers. The quotes for a Honda Accord LX,auto are Out the door $20,575...and a Honda Accord, auto, Special Edition..out the door $20,900. In the next day 2-3 days i plan to ask if they will sale me the Special Edition for the LX price...$20,575. This has been a challenging and interesting experience!

Hi Joe, You and Paul are both ahead of the game by reading the Edmunds site. You know the buying process and it sounds like you have gotten out the yellow legal pad to write down the bid info from the dealers internet sales departments in your areas. I personally have found it easiest to compare deals by asking them to give me a bid which includes ALL fees (dealer prep, documentation, and anything else), but which lists the standard costs of TT&L separately. I just like to know the cost of the vehicle itself. Others prefer to just work with the dealer's OTD offer.
I like to get bids for specific vehicles shown on the dealers' internet sites. Sometimes their sites don't show enough info or require registration with no inventory information. A Sunday trip to the dealer's lot (if they're closed on Sunday) may be helpful to determine what models are available in what colors.
You're also ahead of the game by looking at the Accord, which should provide you with reliable transportation for many years. Good luck in your purchasing effort. Take caare. Ralph

    Hey Ralph,

Thanks for the compliment. I am far from an expert on this wheeling & dealing...but i must admit i have done a fair amount of homework and i believe it's paying off. I have narrowed down to 2 dealers and each one of them are fighting to earn my business. One dealer will say if you find another dealer with a better deal (by a couple hundred dollars) to please get back to us because we don't want a couple of hundred dollars to steal our business away.We will do better! It is amazing!! personally, I also want all costs told to me upfront..over the phone or internet quote.

    Thanks again Ralph.

All the research and work is not good unless you find a dealer willing to deal :D

Most all of my local dealers will not, but there a some I can contact a few hours away who will. You find one that will sell you a car (including dest and dealer fees) for invoice or less and you can stop all the searching around. Knowing the true cost, incentives, hold back, etc makes you an educated buyer - but if all the local dealers will do is $500 off of full MSRP then it means nothing.

pgrunner and joe, i live in the LA area and have been also looking at the accords. the best i could get was 20k out the door for the VP, but i am trying to get that price for the LX now. it does not seem like there is that much of a difference, but the extra 2 speakers sure would be nice for this music fan.
i am dealing with scott robinson honda now, but plan to call / fax cerritos, carson, and gardena hondas today.

i was wondering if we could get even lower on this? 19 out the door? or am i dreaming?
i need to get it thanksgiving weekend at the latest so time is an issue. my civic baby was totalled by a hit and run driver :( but i am not a fan on the new civic style.

good luck everyone...let me know if you have any better luck than 20,000

Hi everyone. I need your help. I have been quoted a price of $18,639 plus $300 delivery fee and $45 doc fee from Stockton Honda in CA for a 2007 Honda Accord SE A/T 4 cyl. I live in Tucson, Az and would have to drive to Reno,NV to get it. They say that I will pay the rest of the fees when I register the car in my state including the taxes. Upon delivery of the vehicle, I would also pay the notary fee. Has anyone gone through this? I am just afraid that if I go there they might increase the fees. Does this sound legitimate? Thanks, for your help.

Hi, just bought a 2007 Honda Accord 4cyl SE for $19788 + $45 doc fee + $795 Lojack + $1598 sales tax + 204 License & Misc. for 22431 out the door, is that a good deal? Thanks

Edit: this is in Sacramento, CA

    dmbfiredancer,

Today i received a price quote from Penske Honda in Ontario for a Honda Accord LX, Automatic...for $20,100. That is so far the best price i have received. I don't know if they will sell for $19,000. I soppose it wouldnot hurt to try. I believe on edmonds.com the Invoice price is $19,700. So if i get the car at $20,100...that would be 400.00 over invoice which is reasonable.

If infact this price holds true...i may buy the car. Let me know how it goes for you.

    Lots of Luck,

    Joe

    dmbfiredancer,

I believe i made a mistake. On Edmonds.com the Invoice price for a Honda Accord LX, automatic is $19,459. So if i purchase the honda accord LX for $20,100 Out The Door..that will be approx $600.00 bucks over Invoice...still not bad.

    Good deal!

So no vibrations like you experienced in your test drives?
    I hope not.
Please post in the maintenance and repair thread.
  • dmbfiredancerdmbfiredancer Member Posts: 8
joe, good deal on the LX! i might have to check out that ontario dealership if nobody around me budges. so far my lowest quotes are:

accord 2007 VP - out the door $19,688
accord 2007 SE - out the door $21,711
    (in southern california)

i am now pricing the LX, since i cannot seem to justify the extra $1,500 at christmastime for those nice wheels on the SE that i REALLY want (my loan is for 20k, so anything over is out of my pocket right now)

thanks for your help...good luck everyone!
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    dmbfiredancer,

If you go with the VP...remember it only has two speakers so if your a music lover (like myself), you might be disappointed. The VP is a little less fancy too. Ask the carsales man to show you the difference between the LX and the VP. There is a difference. I also received a quote from Metro Honda for Special Edition...i could purchase it out the door for $20,900. The 6 cd changed sounds good but then i found out that it only plays the 6 cds in Random mode Not in a Shuffle Mix...so i decided to go with the LX. I am trying to decide whether to call Metro Honda and let them know my latest quote of $20,100 from Penske Honda in Ontario...and see if they will go lower. Decisions...decisions...

Let me know what you decide to do.

    Joe
  • dmbfiredancerdmbfiredancer Member Posts: 8
i am a music lover as well....thanks for reminding me of that speaker difference...
i have been so overwhelemed by this experience because i was not expecting to buy a car at this time and i need to really decide this week and actually BUY.

call metro honda! it wont hurt....the worst they can say is no. maybe you can meet in the middle for the SE....21,500? i'd get the SE for 21,500...treat yourself. this is something you wil have for a very long time, remember!

i keep going back and forth...i have my devilish side saying "come on, deb...if you are spending THIS much you might as well go for the SE...just look at those wheels...you deserve it" and then i have my practical side saying, "you silly girl...you know you will scratch those wheels up in a year or so anyway, so why dont you just go for the LX or VP...they're just as nice"
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    Deb,

I have also been overwhelmed by this experience. I started a few months back checking Edmonds.com...talking with friends and co-workers who was more knowledgable and reading quite a bit on the internet...including visiting various car lots. I guess if your very practical..not a significant music lover..+ don't need the extra fancy accessories then go for the VP. The SE not only has the 6 Disc-in Changer, Electronic brake distribution, 4 wheel disc brakes and of course the 16 inch alloy wheels. Deb..for you the tires are somewhat important, but for me it is not. Like i said if the 6 disc cd in-dash changer would have a SHUFFLE button(mixes all the songs like a jukebox) instead of only a Random button...i would definitely purchase an SE. But it doesnot so i definitely will get the LX. Even though i just want to get this over with...i may call Metro Honda and see if they will give me a lower price than the other dealer. Deb, have you decided on a color? I like the "Cool Blue" and the "Graphic Pearl"...but swaying towards the Cool Blue.

opinions anybody? You guys keep saying out the door price, does that include taxes, registration, documentation and license fees?

Edit: just did a search and i guess OTD price means it includes all tax, registration and everything. Guess my OTD price is 21574 + $795 lojack, didn't get that good of a deal that I thought I did.
  • dmbfiredancerdmbfiredancer Member Posts: 8
OTD is with everything included. what your final cost is before you take your new baby home.

your number seems to be around what i keep getting for an SE before takes, registration, etc. so far

    Okay,
    I think a made a so-so deal on a 2007 Honda Accord w/ Nav

    25095 including freight
    1173.49 for TTL other fees
    26268.49 OTD

Is a Honda care package recommended for Honda's with NAV or is it just pure dealer profit?
  • ralph9ralph9 Member Posts: 88
If participants want an analysis of their offers from a dealer, it would be helpful to give a complete description of the model to include whether it's a sedan or coupe, and auto or manual. It would also be helpful to list the cost including destination and ALL dealer fees, but separately listing the TT&L costs. Since TT&L costs vary by taxing jurisdiction, a comparison of OTD costs without a cost breakout is not very meaningful.

I just got the price qoute from Brwester Honda:

Thank you for considering Brewster Honda for your car buying needs. The information and price quotes you were interested in are as follows:
2007 Honda Accord lx MSRP $21,670 , the special internet price is $ 19,300

Below you will find some alternatives which are similar to your first choice:
2006 Honda Accord ex MSRP $24,095 , the special internet price is $21,595
2006 Honda accors lx se MSRP $22,370 , the special internet price is $19,995

These special internet prices are valid only on purchases made through Brewster Honda 's Internet Sales Department. Due to our aggressive price policy, inventory restrictions and constantly changing incentives, prices are valid for one week or until the first day of the following month whichever comes first.
Special Internet Pricing includes destination, prep fees and all incentives . All you add is tax and DMV fees.

Are thay good price or i can do better if i wait till end of dec.
    Any advice is apreciated

    Hello,
I am looking for a honda accord.
I see there are a lot of numbers here on this forum.
Can someone please tell me what is a good OTD price. By good, i mean great, because I don't think I can afford any more.
I'm looking at 07 Accord LX (4cyl, sedan, automatic, no extras)
and a 07 Accord LX SE (4 cyl, sedan, auto, no extras).
I reside in Texas, i think the tax is 6.5% ?
Please help ! I'm lost. Thank you a lot, I appreciate the advice of the wise.

I leased my 07 SE Accord from Gunn Honda in San Antonio. Contact the internet dept. My car price was $19,592. Contact them and they will email you a break down of the price and taxes. They are sometimes the #1 volume dealer in Texas.
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    Hey Master,

Was $19,592 out the door price for the Honda Accord SE? Is it an automatic?

    Thanks,

    Joe
  • masterp003masterp003 Member Posts: 22
they are giving a price of about 19380$ 07 accord se , automatic transmission. - this is without destination charge, fees, ttL

how bad is this, and how far down do u think it can go?
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
The best price i have received (from 2 dealers) for a Honda Accord SE, automatic $19,900 and the other is $21,000 and both of these prices are out the door. I believe these are very good prices.

    Joe
  • masterp003masterp003 Member Posts: 22
    Wow.
Your price is much lower than the price I was quoted.
    What dealership was this?
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    Masterp,

The $19,900 price was at Metro Honda in Montclair, California and the $21,000 price was at Penske Honda in Ontario, California.

    Oh, hah.
It's a little far for me, from Texas :P
I wonder if they would match the price in a different state...with taxes being different and all.
Do you happen to know the selling price before TTL ?
    Thanks for your perspective.
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    Master,

On edmonds.com the MSRP for the Honda Accord SE, auto is $22,220. You ought to go to www.edmonds.com....then you pick the car you want with whatever accesories and you will get the MSRP, Invoice and the price folks are buying the car for in your area. It is helpful. Another helpful site is carsdirect.com

What is the most appealing to you about the SE rather than the LX? Persoanlly i like the 16 inch alloy whells and the 6 cd changer.

    Joe
  • masterp003masterp003 Member Posts: 22
    Thanks for replying, Joe.
I'm fairly inexperienced at this whole car buying ordeal.
I have seen the invoice and MSRP on Edmunds.com.
    MSRP - 22, 220
    Invoice - 20, 088
    Others paying - 21, 639.

Do you know if this includes all fees and TTL ?

Isn't there a way to buy the car for below invoice? Or am I asking too much? How do i get a price like your 19.900 OTD ?
  • sam9621sam9621 Member Posts: 4
opinions anybody? The tax is VA(3%)
  • wil590wil590 Member Posts: 3
I just purchased an 07 Accord SE 4cyl. auto today for 21,000 OTD cash from Planet Honda in NJ (NJ tax 7%).

None of the other 5 or 6 dealers in the area could come close.
  • ralph9ralph9 Member Posts: 88
Hi Flash, I think you got a good deal. The invoice cost is $24963, including destination charge, Your cost was $25394 including the dealer profit fee of $299. You paid $431 over invoice and the dealer included several accessories which make your cost closer to invoice. The only opinion that matters is yours. If you are satisfied that you checked with enough dealers inter net departments to get the best possible price, then enjoy your car and don't look back. Take care. Ralph
  • ralph9ralph9 Member Posts: 88
Here is the process you need to go through. If you have already limited your choices to the two cars listed and test driven them, I suggest that you go to the internet sites of the Honda dealers in your area (depends on how far you are willing to travel). Many dealers list their new inventory on-line and you may pick out a few cars which interest you for a price quote from the internet salesperson. You explain that you are in the process of getting quotes from several dealers. You may have to do some dealing over the phone to get quotes or find out what is available. Another technique is to visit the dealerships on Sunday (if they are closed) to find out what's available in what colors. You want the price quote to include the destination charge and ALL fees (dealer prep/processing, paperwork, dealer's good looks, etc.) Depending on how much bargaining you want to do, you can have the dealers with the best prices compete for your business.
It's a good idea to have your loan preapproved from your financial institution (include the TT&L costs in determining the amount you need to borrow) and if Honda offers a better rate then go with Honda. If you're paying cash then you have a new best friend. When closing the deal don't let the finance guy slide anything into the deal that you don't want. If you don't want the extended warranty then just say no. These are just some ideas about how I go through the process and you may not want to do it the same way. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Take care. Ralph
When you're satisfied that you have the best deal, go for it and enjoy your new vehicle without woorying about what prices other people paid.
  • joevitjoevit Member Posts: 21
    Hi Masterp,

I don't believe tax/license are included on the the prices shown on edmonds. On edmonds.com or Carsdirect.com....select the car your interested in and then it will ask you if your interested in price quotes from variou dealers in your area...and if you say yes..you will fill out some information and send the e-mail. That is when you can start asking by e-mail the price their asking for and the price your willing to pay. You will begin to learn alot about the prices on the car your interested in and how much their willing to sell it for. I always ask for the Out The Door price...not a penny more.

I am also inexperienced because i havenot purchased a car in nearly 10 years. You just have to dive in sort of speak and get aquainted with these dealers by e-mail and sometimes by phone. Speak with friends or co-workers who are familar on willing & dealing.

    Good Luck,

    Joe

Would be interested in learning what your results will be. I tried to use various methods to obtain the best deal including faxing dealerships but discovered San Antonio Honda dealerships are higher than others in the state. So you may want to check with dealers in a wider radius to see what they offer.
