To Tex and Alamo..just got back and this is what I came up with....

I was looking at 3 different things...
    PILOT / V6 ACCORD / EXL ODYSSEY

    OTD prices

    Accord EXL V6 Navi - 28,919.41 (Car was 26987)msrp-29995
    1686.69 TX TAX / 68.67 Inv Tax / 50 doc / 127.05 REG

Odyssey EXL DVD NAV - 34,256.30 (Car was 31,998)msrp-35490
    1999.88 Tx Tax / 81.37 Inv Tax / 50 doc / 127.05 Lic-reg

The one I got: (And I cant believe it)

TOUR ODY DVD NAV - 37983.34 (car was 35,498!)msrp-39690
    2218.62 TX Tax / 90.27 Inv Tax / 50 Doc / 127.05 Lic reg

I decide not to worry about the pilot. I got there at 830 and this guy (who I know now is the same guy you guys have worked with) was already selling 2 cars. there were no managers there yet except for the gm- thy dont open till 9pm. My guy (we will use 007 as his name since we cant post names) had all my stuff ready, my numbers printed, the car PULLED UP for me to look at while he was busy and I was in the finance guys office and done with the signing by 10:30.

i never thought it was possible to buy a car in 2 hours.

all I can say is that as long as i live in texas and buying cars...I will NEVER go anywhere else or work with anyone else. no matter how busy he was he checked in with me consistently like a 5 star waiter at a restarant.

007 said he hasnt been there too long and sold cars for a short time at another place where he was from but I would have thought he had been doing it since he was born. A complete professional and their pricing is unreal.

not to go on and on but all i can say is that Gunn Honda in san antonio has earned a customer for life and 007 has earned a friend and customer for life.

now im gonna go sit in my van and try to figure the nav thing out. im gonna double post this on the pilot and odyssey forum too.
thank you guys for all your help and info.

$5k plus seems like a good deal of money for a car that is 12 years old, but it should still run a long time. I have 169k miles on my Accord LX I-4 Auto and it hasn't cost much in repairs since I got it at 115k miles (about $250 a year).

    Important
    - GET THE TIMING BELT CHANGED. It should be changed every 90k miles.

I sure love the heck out of my '96, and I hope you get many more years of joy from your '95!

    Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy 2007 Honda Accord Lx, in new jersey aread. I have got a quote of 18500 (including destination charges) + taxes + 299 Doc feed. Can anyone suggest whether it is good deal to go for?

    Thanks in Advance.
  • hondaguy697hondaguy697 Member Posts: 25
from my reasearch for texas the lx accords start at 18400 WITH destination included plus taxes and fees. you can get an SE for 1k more and get a lot more car

I just bought an Accord LX Automatic yesterday in Texas. During the testdrive, I noticed that the "D" indicator keeps flashing during driving. I asked the dealer and he said it was fine. When I got back home, I read the manual and it says this means there is a problem with the transmission. Do anyone have experience with this? Is it a serious problem? Can I requested the dealer to exchange the car based on the fact that he lied to me.
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
Go back, pitch a fit. The blinking "D" indicator is NOT normal, and DOES in fact indicate a problem.

Get your attorney's number on speed dial, and go down there pronto before adding miles to your car.
  • hondaguy697hondaguy697 Member Posts: 25
i drove one that a family member owned that did that...ended up being a transmission sensor then got worse and they ended up changing out the computer ....so its a major problem!!!!! like grad said ....get to dealer and call the man!!!

I believe I did give the price for each item. SE-V6
    has no option.

In this forum, I am not allowed to state the dealer nor saleman. Please condiser giving your email and post it.
  • hondaguy697hondaguy697 Member Posts: 25
and please tell us ...WHERE did you buy it from???????

Just want to share my personal experience in shopping for
a sedan with stability control. Opinion may be uninformed and may have personal bias. Doc fee is not included in calculation. Camry price includes VSC and floor mats.

    Price for Camry SE-V6:~$23273(no tax),~$24902(w. 7% tax)
    Price for Accord SE-V6:~$20650(no tax),~$22095(w. 7% tax)
    Difference: ~$ 2800

    Advantage/disadvantage:
    1) Camry: a new model year design car with one more airbag(knee). Driving feel: handling is soft. A good family car. In some states, hard to get VSC except in XLE. Some owners reported transmission "spiking" problem and have to replace transmission. Best price, $100 over invoice.

    2) Accord: End of its current model year design but engine is well proven-in. Legendary reliabilty (have heard of >300K miles with highway driving)and safety record. Only V6 has VSC. Wide Michelin tires. Disc brake on all 4 wheels. Driving feel: very sporty and peppy, merged easily into highway traffic. Fun and pleasure to drive. Best price, $900-1000 below invoice.

Refer to my "Odyssey: prices paid" post to see my opinion of why I WONT buy a toyota....not Honda biased until the last couple years. Good luck in your decision either way!

thegraduate is right on the issue of changing the timing belt at 90k.

I had a 95 accord and the dealer continually tried to have me change to belt at 70k. However, reading the manual which said 90k, I followed the manual and never had a problem with my car which I eventually sold at 159k.

Only mechanical issue I ever had was my power window switch burned out. Honda makes great cars!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to all and enjoy a wonderful Xmas.

I was at a dealer today and they had one '07 Accord SE with a price of $21575 at the top of the sticker. Below that was a discount of $750 followed by the destination charge. The bottom line MSRP was $21420. Why is there a factory discount on this car? Is the car different from an Accord SE that has an MSRP of $22220? The dealer was closed so I couldn't ask anyone. Thanks.

At first I thought it was a bit high to pay $5k for an 11 year old car, but once I got home I plugged in all of the options, the mileage, the information about the body, and whether or not there are any defects of that nature into www.kbb.com and it returned an average retail price of about $6300+, so I don't feel as though I've payed too much. I do know that I will buy another Accord someday, probably long from now because it is such a nice car. However, I don't think I'll ever buy anything new simply because a person can get pretty much the same car that is a couple of years old for a whole lot less, and with Honda's certified used program it makes it a little easier to handle.

    Thanks for the reply.

If you want to buy a camry V6 or a ES350 V6, you owe it to yoursleves to check out the transmission problem that the 6 speed transmission is experiencing now (the famous 3-4 flare problem). It is all over the camry and ES forum...
  • tankbeanstankbeans Member Posts: 585
Did you take it to the dealership or did you take it to the mechancic. I am trying to figure out the best value for the money. I know that in a previous post on another part of this site I asked the same question and wasn't given a clear answer on where I should take it. What would you suggest? Dealer or mechanic in town? Dealer would be able to make right something which goes wrong? :confuse: Hopefully.

Any idea as to where I should take it would be greatly appreciated. I am already planning on doing it with my tax return, if it's big enough.

    Thanks for any advice. :D

I forgot to ask jensad how much it cost to take the car to a dealer if you went to the dealer. Chances are prices for labor and parts are probably standard for the Honda dealerships across the board.

Once again thanks in advance for the response.

I am getting $23200-$23500 price quotes from internet sales managers over the phone. Someone on this forum thought that you should be able to get one for $700-$1000 below invoice.
  • jensadjensad Member Posts: 388
I took my 95 Honda to a dealer in 2002 to fix the window problem. The labor THEN I believe was about $75/hr. But then I live in the Bay Area i.e. California. However, over the 10 years I owned my Honda, that was the only repair I needed to do.

We also had an 95 Oddessy, sp, which had NO repairs done to it over our ownership. We purchased that vehicle from a local dealer that offerred a money back extended warranty if we had no repairs over seven years, and less than 75000 miles.

My wife had about 72000 miles when we got our money back.

Good luck to all and have a peaceful Xmas season.

    jensad

The cost where I live now is around $ 100 per hour.

    In Southern California I have a quote for the 07 Accord EXL 2.4 sedan= 22,411 +TX,LIC.

Anybody have any opinions or quotes. I could use some help on this.
  • mpc8240mpc8240 Member Posts: 19
This's my first Honda and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'm in Bay Area.
In response to a few quote inquries above, it should be quite easy to get $1000 below invoice (dest. charge included). Well, at least dealer invoice, which seems to be around $200 more than listed on edmunds. And you can push harder coz there's always someone willing to sell one more car for less.
  • sulabhssulabhs Member Posts: 8
I followed up two approaches. One dealer is in santa ana- Honda dealer who gives good quote and another I got from carsdirect.com. Both the quotes are competitive and matches each other.
    Hope this helps.

    best regards

    Hi,

I was about to close a deal for my honda accord, but now have some travel plan for one month in Jan 2007

Do you think, that December is the best time to buy a car in terms of deals, or do you think, that, the prices of car is competitive in the month of Feb.
I just want to get some tentative idea, if the deals are good enough even in the month of Feb. Are the dealer ready to go below invoice price during Feb as they are ready to do it now?

    thanks and best regards

There's a $750 cashback to dealer on every accord, which is stated on the window sticker.
  • hondaguy67hondaguy67 Member Posts: 66
I am sorry to inform you that there is not 750 cash back on all accords. that 750 you see is only on SE's and only is a discount that the CUSTOMER GETS!!!!!!! it is not dealer cash or incentive it is a factory discount from MSRP for buying an SE.

Please let me know if 24,300.00 is a good price for a 2007 EX-L V6. It seems to be a good deal after reading the boards. Just not sure why is 1,000.00 lower than other prices I have received. It is from a reliable dealer in LA. Thanks for any help!

Looks like a pretty decent price to me (~1k below invoice if you include destination charge). Which dealership is this (I am in the market for an EXL V6 with nav.)?

This is a good price if it is OTD and no trade is involved.

  • exaccordexaccord Member Posts: 6
It is not OTD, OTD would be about 26,300.00 8% tax with 190 in T&L. I can't seem to find anything close to that around LA

how much would you say is msrp (and actual value) of paint sealant/protection, fabric sealant, wheel locks, tint, respectively?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,736
paint sealant - usually a wax and shine ... maybe $40
    fabric sealant - $10
wheel locks - 1 lock per wheel would be about $10; all lugs converted to special lugs would be more like $50.
tint - i'm not sure about this one. Would vary depending on how many windows and probably darkness of tint.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • masterp003masterp003 Member Posts: 22
    Thanks for the reply.

MSRP on 07 SE automatic- 22220 (or something)
    SE discount 750

Additional: Paint sealant, fabric sealant, splash guards, wheel locks, tint

Total MSRP - 24895 (something very close to 25K)

    !!??

so what does this fabric sealant actually do ?
  • exaccordexaccord Member Posts: 6
You can buy fabric protector at Wal-Mart or any auto store. Spray it all over the car seats and carpet. A bottle is less than $20.00. Moisture will bead up and can be easily wiped off instead of being absorbed in fabric.
Protection pkg. is also a little steep, splash guards, trunk tray and locking lugnuts...375.00. All can be purchased for less than 200.00.
