    hi superkimbo

would you offer dealers under invoice like $500? whatever the packages i get or add on?
    thanks!
  • superkimbosuperkimbo Member Posts: 3
i looked at the invoice from the dealership. Honda adds a $233 extra for advertising? so i paid about $100 over invoice

I'm sorry, i dont quite understand your question. I am not a dealer. Can you clarify?

    Hi DREAMCAR5

I have not called Anderson back but in the meantime I got another price for a 2008 EX-L from another Baltimore dealer,
    O'Donnell Honda.

I spoke with the salesman Dave Roe. His price

    EX-L 4 cyl = $24063

    EX-L V6 = $26051

As you discovered with Anderson, the prices at O'Donnell were for special ordered cars. All the cars in stock at O'Donnell had a $499 package added to them which included wheel locks, a protection package and some other item. Dave told me that a car could be ordered without the $499 package.

Someone else mentioned that this might be a slow year for car sales and this might trigger additional factory discount incentives in a few months. I happen to beileve that there is a real possibility for this.

I live in Florida for most of the year, near Fort Myers. The dealers there do not give any deals near those I have gotten in the Baltimore/Washington area.
  • holewholew Member Posts: 71
VIET you are correct, there are no FACTORY OPTIONS for Hondas but dealers add options such as pin stripe, protection packages, wheel locks, mud flaps, and whatever else they can throw on the car to increase its price. Some even are so bold to ad an ITEM which is listed as ADM = Additional Dealer Markup, or RMA = Regional Market Adjustment. Most of the actual equipment added is only worth less the $100 total but the dealer charges about $500 or more.

The dealer will do this to all cars in stock so if the buyer wants the car immediately he/she will have to pay more. The dealer might discount the price but the discount is almost meaningless since the dealer has already added perhaps $1000 or more in phoney options. So with a $1000 discount the buy is still paying full list price.

Don't depend on ever getting Quakerstate to pay for any engine or transmission problems. I have seen the conditions of their warranty. There are so many conditions which you must meet that it is almost impossible for you to comply with all of them.

Also Honda's powertrain warranty is now I think 5 year 60,000 miles which for most of us is very generous.

How much should I expect to pay monthly on an 2008 4-door EX-L V6, no navigation, with about $700 in additional accessories?

Right now, after going to 3 dealerships and spending alot of time negotiating, they've offered to let me lease it for $360 (this includes taxes and everything) a month for 36 months, 12k miles a year, with $3,000.00 down (which includes all the dealership fees, acquisition fees, lease fees, taxes, tags title and first month's payment).

    Sound like a good deal?
  • liberator999liberator999 Member Posts: 2
i paid between $500 to $600 below invoice for my past 3 cars.they were camry xle v6, civic 2001,and accord v6 coup 2005. my point is whatever price the dealer sells you,it won't sell the car at a loss ( from manufacter kickbacks and incentives or whatever ). now i am using the same goal $ 500 below invoice to negotiate for my next car, 08 accord exl v6, maxima sl 08, or lexus es350 08.
  • liberator999liberator999 Member Posts: 2
why pay more if you dont have to. my 3 past car-buying experiences( between $500 to $600 below invoices) taught me that it is very likely that dealer can sell cars below invoices and still make a profit. i expect to buy a 08 accord exl v6 no navigation system for a drive-out price of $ 256,000 plus ttl. will keep you generous folk posted when i get the car
  • yvtyvt Member Posts: 8
Hi, how did you get the invoice price? Thanks. :confuse:
  • christopher960christopher960 Member Posts: 4
I want to get a new 2008 Honda Accord sedan with auto transmission and cloth seats (no leather). What kind of price should I shoot for (LX and LX-P model)?

I really don't need navigation or moon roof.

Here are the 2 prices I have been quoted so far for an LX model: $20,390 and $20,500.

Also, what should I pay for a deck lid spoiler for this car when I get it?

Lastly, what color does everyone like. I am leaning toward the gray or black. I think black looks the nicest when clean but it's hard to keep it clean.

Then in this case, you need to ask about holdback(3%) and volume rebate(3%) the dealer will get from Honda.

You need to wait(if you can) the $1000 off the invoice price at least to buy.

EXL V6 target price: $24,588 or less
EXL V6 With Navi: $26,088 or less :surprise:
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
This is the smart way to buy cars.

AS LONG AS buyers are on strike, the dealers will low their price. During the interim, buy used Hondas and wait for the price drop. :P
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
Good for you. The dealer in Baltimore is reasonable.

So, you got $25,551 before the package then.
  • chuckiscchuckisc Member Posts: 31
I'm new to Honda forum. When you guys post the price here, is it OTD pricing? or I need to add the tax?
  • uscratchuscratch Member Posts: 27
Has anyeone purchased new 08 accord with financing options? What are their rates now?
I'm planing to put 12K down with my credit card(0% interest until 2009 summer) and finance the rest of it.
    Any inputs?
    Thanks!
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
The best rate from Capital One, 3 year, 5.5%(need to apply through Costco)

I would encourage you ask whether your credit card company can give you a "LIFE TIME" balance transfer rate. This 0% thing is very tricky, you need to set aside at least 50% of the toal borrowing into a high yield CD or savings account like ING or Emigrant to avoid any default in payment.

The best thing you can do is to WAIT until Honda gives $1000 or $2000 incentive. I do not believe they can sell many vehicles this year or 2008. You will have better deal ahead.

I bought one two days ago I paid $29500 OTD (Virginia)
I added $595 interior and exterior color leather and every thing in between protection. also added $750 6/75000 miles warranty.
You may be can get it for a little bet less

Found this site mentioned on DriveAccord earlier today. Not sure if it's legit or not, worth a try though:

Hi, UScratch, I just got a new accord from Castle Honda, Morton Grove. It was a good experience. You may email me if you have questions. yuanf99@yahoo.com
  • justlooking88justlooking88 Member Posts: 9
FYI, I just got 6.15% for 5 years with excellent credit score, 2K down. The dealer can only charge up to $2000 on credit card.
  • rusted_outrusted_out Member Posts: 14
I purchased a 2008 EX 4cyl automatic sedan a week ago and got 5.64% from American Honda Finance, good on terms of 24, 36, 48, and 60 months. Most dealerships I spoke with will accept a maximum of $2000-3000 on a credit card. Last time I got a new car, I put the whole $10,000 down-payment on a cash back card, but not this time.
  • stkntrafficstkntraffic Member Posts: 172
Interesting... he does say the prices don't include destination and "fees". Wonder what that amounts to (the fees, I mean - obviously destination is published).
  • uscratchuscratch Member Posts: 27
The only reason I want to use my credit card is that a 1.5% cash back and 0% purchase interest. I hate to take money out of my savings, but what the heck. I got to do what I got to do.
Hope they announce a special finacing program soon. 5.64% seems still high to me. 3.9% would be sweet.
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
Please DO read the fine lines. I think there is a condition and check this with the credit card company. They want to make $$$ from you.
  • rusted_outrusted_out Member Posts: 14
I totally understand, I wanted to charge more than $2,000 on my credit card for the cash back as well. Ask your dealership and see what they say. I did see a local dealer advertise 2.9% on all 2008 Accords and Civics, and I went in; it turns out that in order to get the 2.9% "special", they were only willing to discount about $500 off MSRP; if I wanted around invoice, their rate was 5.5-6%, and they were not willing to give both a good price and the low rate.

I applied for and received a new credit card with 0.0% balance transfers for 12 months, and no fees on the balance transfer, so I am using that credit line to pay off the new auto loan. I have to make the minimum credit card payments each month, and have to pay off the total credit card amount within 12 months before the APR goes sky high. This year my taxes are going to be done extra early! :surprise:

I have seen those credit card deals where the purchases OR the balance transfers are at 0.0% for 12 months, but I could not find a dealership who would accept more than $3,000 on the credit card, since they are charged a percentage by the credit card companies for each transaction. So, I went with the 0.0% balance transfer rather than on new purchases.
  • sodaguysodaguy Member Posts: 84
Talked to him today. He charges $299 for documents fee (ouch) and the published $635 (I think) for the destination fee.

Most of the time, the final comes out to within $100 of published invoice, which is still a steal for the coupe.

I'm just trying to look a different Honda dealer in Maryland. I think they are better than dealers in Virginia.

By the way, just wondering what you paid for the 2007 Accord EX-L V6?

    thanks.

OTD $28,400 after taxes and fees. Free 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty with purchase.
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
Whose "Free 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty"? It surely is a third party company and not a Honda warranty. You will undoubtedly not be very happy when you read the small print of that free warranty.
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
$28,400 OTD for an 08 Accord EX-L 4 cyl w/Navi ? or did you mean 6cyl? this is way on the high side if it is a 4cyl....I hope your "Free" warranty was worth it.

Try David McDavid Honda in Irving. I had my friend's brother that used to work there and they always gave me $500 below invoice on Civics and Accords. I bought a 2007 Honda Odyssey last year at $800 below invoice. I hooked up another friend there for 2007 Honda Accord and they agreed to $2500 off of invoice on remaining 2007 Accords in the lot. The manager told me they were doing upto $3000 below invoice on 2007's in August to make room for 2008's. I think they got some incentive from the Honda America to get rid of 2007's since they probably dont make any money by doing $2500 below invoice. $500 off invoice even for a brand new model year Accord is very do-able there at David McDavid. If you get the upper end (like v-6 ex-l) you might get $800 off. Edit: its Irving,Texas....and I like this dealership because they don't add lot of dealer add on's....only option I always get are the trunk tray, mud guards, and ....I guess that's pretty much it...chase60now@hotmail.com if you have any questions...and those of you that posted help on 2003 Accord radio light outage, thanks alot!! got Vandergriff Honda to Goodwill it and fixed it for free althought it went over 7 yr 100000 mile extended warranty offered by Honda America!!

You guys should be negotiating some where around 25500 OTD for 2008 Accord EXL 4 cyl in Chicagoland area.
  • chase60chase60 Member Posts: 2
you guys shouldn't be using the OTD at all. Different states have different tax rates and title fees set by the state. You should refer to cost from the dealers as in price from the nationally set KBB.com's invoice price. It's hard to get a good sense of good pricing when looking at it from another state.

    Hello Carman,
I have a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 sedan which is on a 2yr lease with 15k/yr. My lease ends Dec 12, 2007 and my car has been kept in great condition, no one has ever sat in the back of the car, the current mileage on the vehicle is 23,800 miles. My question is when I go back to the dealer and decide to lease another Honda is their any way I can ask the dealer for more money for my lease return and use my lease return as leverage in the negotiation. Can the dealership buy my lease return? Thank you very much.

Any experiences and prices in the chicagoland area for a 4 door 2008 EX-L V6? Im in the market and would like to hear about both positive and negative experiences

Basically, 08 Accord design = 07 Acura TL, 2WD instead of 4WD, trim line is not fancy as TL.

Fun to drive, but not the price.

??? The Acura TL has never been propelled by anything other than its 2 front wheels, just like the Accord.

It seems like prices vary quite a bit from region to region. We have a $300 tax max on new car purchases. I have an offer right now for an

EX-L with mats, splash guard and wheel locks for under $25K OTD. Is this a good deal? Or should I be looking for a V6 with leather near that price?

    Thanks,
    Alex

I have a dealer offer in the southeast region of $26,550 (not including tax and title. Does that sound like a good deal? Also, when are the White Diamond Pearl going to be more readily available? My dealer has 1 coming in that's already spoken for...
  • justlooking88justlooking88 Member Posts: 9
I think it is a good price. Maybe it could be another $300 off. Just try it. It depends on how soon the dealer wants to get rid of it.
  • dreamcar5dreamcar5 Member Posts: 69
I do not think so, try $24888 for EXL V6 a month later. If all buyers can keep COOL, the price will drop.

$26550 should be EXL V6 qith Navi
  • justlooking88justlooking88 Member Posts: 9
FYI, My friend just got an 07 EX-L V6 non-nav for 21800 plus TTL.

Has anybody had any experience using car buying services offered through credit unions? My credit union offers a service called New Cars Inc. which charges no fees. I'm curious if they can be a good deal or not.
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
"$26550 should be EXL V6 qith Navi"

Right on.... some people have paid MSRP or a few bill less however $26550 should be the sweet spot.

"FYI, My friend just got an 07 EX-L V6 non-nav for 21800 plus TTL."

That price is on the high side for an 07...$21 even should be OTD MAX..
