after finding this great forum I was able to negotiate our best quote for $32,250 including $1,500 rebate and the destination charge + taxes. They were able to get us the special 2.9% financing from another bank so we could get both the special rate and the rebate. The inventory for this model is going very fast now (they have loads of Tourings left), we couldn't get the color we wanted at any of the dealers for the ex-l. We pick it up tonight!

Yup, paying cash and being asked to sign a credit app, filled out or otherwise, means it's time to pause and ask some questions if you have any qualms about releasing more personal information and negotiating leverage than necessary. With no reflection on you, and not knowing whether the cash-equivalent that you used was a personal check, the Federal Trade Commission does say that dealers are allowed to take some steps to substantiate funds for personal checks. Nonetheless, there's more than one way to vet the check, and personal checks aren't the only cash-equivalents that can be offered.
To giving the SSN, keep in mind that if the purchase price is over $10,000.00 and cash literally means pictures of dead presidents, the Fed requires that you give the SSN. On the other hand, there is a growing recognition by the State DMV's that requiring the SSN to title a vehicle creates an unnecessary risk and some (I believe not yet all) States are moving away from that practice.

Thanks for the info. I agree you don't see much about the ex-res. (The kids don't want leather.) I asked the experts the same question and got scolded by one of them for trying to rip off the dealer! Not my intention, but got construed that way via electronic talk. Making large purchases is terrifying for me - after all my research I'll probably stick with my '00 Ody EX-Nav for another couple of years - lol! BTW, we got quotes a few months back from some dealers in IL and their prices were the same as yours. Things got rocky with my husband's job so we didn't go forth with a purchase at that time. Still, kind of itching for something new after 10 years and 157K miles. We'll see what happens! Thanks again!!
It's funny, IT ALWAYS THE DEALERS THAT RIP OFF CUSTOMERS, they know the game better, but with Forums like this--we have ammo in our pockets--and dealers know and hate it. Dealers can live on 3-5% profit on a car, they shouldn't cry so much.

I would assume the quote you got is including destination,if correct then it is a reasonable price for vehicle and options you are looking for. you want to ask dealer to send you an email confirming the price quote and they will honor this price.Here in NJ many dealears have increased odys price by atleast $1000 you must make sure. Ask dealer if can give you Wheel lock FREE ($50) other thing like a remote start, paint protection it depends on how do you negotiate. Are you interested in buying extended warranty? Coast you somewhre between $1000-$1500 for 7yr or 8yr for 75K-120K. you can addthis items and ask to add FREE for other items that you need is most important to you.
Just purchased 7yr/80K Honda Care policy from Hyannis Honda for $765 (zero deductible) for our brand new slate green EX-L with R/N. The finance guy at our local dealership just laughed and hurled empty threats when he heard of the deal I got.

After about a year the Van is running great. There were vibrations while braking and the dealer cut the rotors ( in warranty ) at about 7K miles. Got the 10" Audiovox DVD player installed by Best Buy - Total Cost $740 including installation. Lot of Space to drop off and pick up from College DORM twice a year. Odyssey's rectangular Box shape gives the maximum volume in this class of vehicles.

Only SOME Tourings had the PAX tires. They were standard on 2005 and 2006 Tourings. After that Tourings could be ordered either way.
I know our store wouldn't order any with PAX tires. They do cost a lot more to replace and there aren't many places that have the special (expensive) tire machines that are required to change these.
I think it must have seemed like a good idea at the time and certainly there are some benefits. Most people didn't think so.
I spoke to Bob from Hyannis Honda about a month ago - he will not sell Honda Care to California residents. However, Curry Honda and College Hills Honda are willing to do so.

I am not sure whether the inventories are running that low. Local dealers have atleast 10 honda odyssey. Inventories can get low as the factory starts churning new ones and the supply for old ones drop to zero. I was checking online honda had $2500 incentive last year in september.
How is the VW routan which is being sold at 5000 under invoice due to VW incentive. I know VW is buid by Chrysler but Routan. Right now cannot decide between Routan SE w/DVD and NAV for $25000 versus Odyssey EX-L w RES @ 30,000. Please help

Well, if invoice is 37 (and I don't know that it is), subtract the current $1500 dealer incentive to arrive at a fair price. And mid-35s is what most folks seem to be reporting. Very high 34s is the lowest I've seen anybody claim.
Having only 10 2010 Odyssey in stock is nothing even for a low volume store.
All I'm saying is if you try to second guess what Honda may or may not do you could easily outsmart yourself. I've been totally fooled myself in the past.
Not only that, the inventories will get so picked over that you may have to settle for a model or color you really don't want.
I heard the sales of the VW Routan have been dismal. If you see a 5000.00 incentive that should tell you something. They wouldn't do that unless they couldn't sell them otherwise.
We finally get an EXL RES NAV last night for 32900.00 plus tax. Base upon what i found is only 3 of these left in Colorado. This guy had to locate this for us from the other place 65 miles south. We had agree with this price because they don't have any accessories junk on the vehicle. This is the best that we can do for over 2 weeks of dealing with all the dealership within 100 miles radius. Yeah...I agree...something doesn't sound right--could be a Bait and Switch when you get there, they might tell you that PRICE to get you into the dealer, but then try and make it up on the backend using that DEALERS ADD-ON ACCESSORY STICKER, aka BS Sticker...REFUSE to pay any additional dealer add-ons.....inclluding extended vehicle warranty...if you decide to purchase over Lease. You can purchase extended vehicle warranty if you wish from 3rd party companies. (check edmunds.com right here) for these companies.....GOOD LUCK..!

Not really, competition among Honda dealers in the Bay State is fierce. Besides, there seems to be a relatively large number of Tourings on the ground. They'll have to do something to get rid of 'em.
'11 Odyssey production starts tomorrow at the Lincoln plant according to The Birmingham News. If true, they could be hitting stores as soon as next week.

I hope I can grow to like the 2011 Odyssey. Right now I think the rear quarters are down right ugly. To me it is like the rear quarters belong on a different vehicle. And they still have the sliding door track visible.

I got a EXL in Central jersey for 28K + TTL the 2010 models are running out fast , i had to get quotes from multiple dealerships to get the color i wanted. i was on the fence for couple of months , deciding to wait for the 2011 models or get the 2010 but i jumped in finally, i beleive the major differences are aesthetics and electronics which in my opinion is not worth the 4 to 5k premium that the 2011 model will command

Of Course there are, I had a relative in the industry for 15-years at a Huge Nationwide dealership, and he was clean cut, and had ton of customers and referrals--he also retired from it into another industry where he's doing much better.

i think it boils down to timing , when they release the 2011 model , they may be 1k over invoice , may be in 6 months time we will see the prices as we see now. i needed one right away, thats why i got it, if you dont need one right away , then you can wait for the 011 model

Any time a new model comes out there are always some people who like the old model better and they will try to grab one before they are gone.
If 2010 inventories are getting low which is probably the case, the incentives could disappear entirely.

As far as a VW, it is of course a rebaged Chrysler. Of course you can buy it cheaper. And any resale will be affected with lower values.

I am in Atlanta. I ran thru the numbers for a HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L with RES and NAV and came up with 31470 + TTL = 33500.
Essentially I am asking for 33500 OTD price. Is that reasonable or I am being plain silly ?
I think I need a sanity check if I am right or way off.
