I am in Sacramento. Best quote I got for 2010 EX-L(with NAV and DVD): $32581 + TTL. Is it a good deal?

I bought a Touring from Bill Page Honda, $37K OTD.
  • clermontflclermontfl Member Posts: 108
Yes, that that is a good price, Am-Ex Zag has the 2010 Honda Ody with RES/NAV for $32,545

    See Link-->> http://amexnetwork.zag.com/configurator.html?makeId=2232&modelId=427&upfrontPric- ing=Y

I purchased mine in July for a little under $32,000.

    Good Luck...!!

Keep in mind a Routan is a rebadged Chrysler. The guts (Engine/Tranny/Platform) is a Chrysler, VW then bolts on the body panels, seats, electronics, etc.

Chrysler won't let them have their special seating features, but that may not mean anything to you.

The reason Chrysler has fallen is because of their guts. They match or exceed many other features, turn around seating, stow and go, the dual screen DVD's, etc, however they fall down in the servicability overall.

Sure you will find people with 100,000's of miles and swear by them, but the overall record of these machines are far below average, and that is why even with their bells and whistles they have fallen from their once segment leading position.

All the vans have their issues, but the averages over 1,000,000's of units sold favors Honda and Toyota over the rest of the competition. VW seems to do a better job than Chrysler on the fit and finish, but that is cosmetic for the most part.

What you need to decide is do you want the heart and guts of a Chrysler, prettied up with lipstick and eye candy. Remember a pig is a pig, no matter the color of the lipstick.

Where did you buy yours for under $32K? Did you purchase the Honda Care extended warranty?
  • clermontflclermontfl Member Posts: 108
    Hey Sacramento,

I'm in Florida, purchased it here. **DO NOT, DO NOT**** PURCHASE WARRANTY FROM A DEALER...!!!!, They get theirs from a 3rd Party and act as a middleman by marking it yp and re-selling it to you. Besides why would you want to pay finance charges, interest chharges, and sales taxes on it...??

Purchase it from a 3rd party company yourself, go on-line, go DIRECT. You can find the information here on Edmunds.com

    Go here-->>> http://www.carbuyingtips.com/warranty.htm

And NO, I leased mine for 3 years...no need to purchase warranty when you lease since it has a 3 year warranty.

    Good luck....!!!

This is a good price for the area. You could get a couple hundred cheaper but it is pain in negotiating, but an easier negotiation is asking for five free oil changes and settling for 3. I just moved from Florida to the Bay area where I had a low price no haggle price of 28,300 from my Honda guy Joe Sutter at Treadwell in Mobile, AL with 3 free oil changes. I am looking for an EX-L but I am gambling better incentives are coming Sept 8. If not the $1500 incentive is not enough to get me to buy a 2010 over 2011 especially with the better gas mileage. If you plan on alot of hwy driving and plan on keeping the van ten years this cheapskate says wait for either a better incentive on the 2010 or buy the 2011. On the VW it is like others said, a rebadged caravan and not as dependable and the residual value is terrible. I have owned Caravans and was satisfied but I would NEVER trust my family in them after 100,000 miles...a Honda is good for over 200,000. STAY AWAY FROM THE ROUTAN/CARAVAN unless you are buying a three year old one with 20K miles for $12K because that is what it is worth. Let me know what you get and where b/c I am buying this month and the Bay area has tons of Honda dealers and I don't want to even want to waste time on the phone with guys who promise a good deal but want fax/email me a quote.

No need, I bought mine a few weeks ago here in Ohio.

Thanks for posting this deal. Kelly Honda in Lynn, MA wouldn't do this deal again as of 9/5, but using your info we did get $28471 + 298 doc + TTL at Boch Honda outside of Boston. They gave us this price via email. Tons of inventory there, so we had our choice of color.

Had to negotiate a bit for the trade-in, but the above pricing was offered whether we chose to trade in our car or not.

Thanks to everyone who posted useful info on this forum.
We bought EX-L in metallic metal with gray interior on Monday in Charlotte, NC. Here are the details

    MSRP: 34,185 – Discount (5,346) = 28,838 + TTL = 30,300 OTD.

It was a good expereince. Finalize the deal on phone and went to pick it up.

    Congratz, Welcome to ody family!

Would you mind showing the numbers of your deal. I was wondering if that has RES & NAVI, leather seat etc. Bcoz I purchased mine 2weeks ago in Central NJ at $35K+, how much is the tax in atlanta, NJ has 7%, what was the price of the vehicle when you say price pls. include destination otherwise it will create a confusion. :shades:

What's the quickest/easiest way to find out what the new incentives are once they come out tomorrow?
  • whigpartywhigparty Member Posts: 15
iaw *isellhondas*, there will NO incentives. Inventory is down to almost nothing.
    Hurry to your honda dealers.

6 days ago Autonation had about 306 Honda ODYSSEY's for sale in the Southeast, as of today EST 200pm, they have 274 Odyssey's in stock. That's 32 Ody's down from their original stock. That equates to about 6 Ody's per dealer, spread out over how many dealers? Not all dealers sold 6 (5.3) Ody's since 6 days ago. Some dealers are smaller than others.

There is plenty of stock left out there, if you had to stand in the showroom looking at a 2010 vs. 2011, and you wanted the 2010--you'll have a Deal....Negotiate hard---rip heads off like the salesman try and do..!!!

Has anybody bought an Odyssey EX-L recently in Plano, Texas?
What kind of deals do they have and how was the experience?
    How about financing options?

Price is $100 over "cost", which equals $31,040 invoice, less holdbacks of $668 and $501, less $1500 dealer rebate, +$100 profit = $28471.

swnh, I know the $668 holdback (2% of MSRP), but don't know about the $501 holdback. Can you educate me? The ConsumerReports bottom line price is $28,873 for EX-L ($31,041 - $668 - $1,500).

BTW, the $1,500 dealer incentive is extended thru 11/1
    incentives and rebates

Can somebody help me to determine if I am shooting for a good price with the 2010 Odyssey EX-L with RES? I got the consumer Bottom Line price in JULY and it was $31, 787. They then updated it for August, so then it was $30, 287( which reflected the $1500 customer cash.) When I spoke to the dealer over the phone last month, we had an argument and he eventually said, "well if I give it to you for $30,629, will you take it?" Thats only 1.5% commision. Not bad? I am going to the dealership within a couple of weeks to bargain. Should I try to go lower?...FYI, I also live in a very expensive area of the country, Long ISland, NY. I don't know if that has any bearing on anything. Are there any other holdbacks or anything I should know about? I know the 2011 is coming out. I would think they would have better incentives on the 2010 than this.! If anyone can impart some wisdom, I would really appreciate it! Thanks, K
  • nefariousnefarious Member Posts: 14
Incentives remained the same as prior months. Bought the last 2010 EX-L the local dealer is getting. Best price they would give was $30.256 which is about $1,000 higher than a quote I got from one major-metro dealer about 3.5 hours away. My reluctance to drive & save the grand was over our 2007 EX-L trade-in and not knowing if I'd be driving up there to only not agree on trade-in value. I got what I needed from the local dealer and its the exact color we wanted. They also got us 3.05 financing for 72 months. I'll save more with the new lower interest rate on the new one, as well. So all in all I'm satisfied. Just have to wait for it to get here now. Any day.

$30.256 is for EX-L base or EX-L with RES?

I have quoted $$36,083 which is $39,014 OTD. In my opinion, the Odyssey 2010 Touring is around $34,325 which is $37,000 OTD.

I just got an email from Honda. The Odyssey 2011 coming in weeks.

Go to Jon Hall Honda in Daytona Beach and ask for Kurt Frank..good luck, let me know how it goes.

Don't pay that kind of money....keep trying for more discount. I received a quote from Auto Nation/Courtesy Honda on July 1st (2 months ago) here in Florida on a 2010 Touring for $35,937. Granted, inventories have come down--but they have to move these vans...keep pushing for more discount...put in that $1500 discount and see if you can get to at least $34,000 before taxes, TTL...etc.....

    **REMEMBER, NO DEALER-BS-ADD-ONS..!!!******

    Good luck.
  • nefariousnefarious Member Posts: 14
EX-L base. No RES or NAV. I know. Not the best price. I contacted every dealer in the Tulsa, KC, St. Louis, Springfield, Joplin, and Fayetteville areas. Best price was St. Louis at $29,183 by one dealer. But they had only 2 in stock so there were no guarantees I could get there or do a trade in. Best price after this was $30,199 in KC. Joplin was sold out and offered me an EX-L w/ RES at mid $33k which was ridiculous.
  • cheapskate8cheapskate8 Member Posts: 34
Unless you are in a bind and must buy this week then wait. Honestly the$1500 just makes up for the depreciation on year models, but the new 2011 comes with more safety, features and gas mileage. Go to Zag.com and get a quote from the same dealers through Zag...I guarantee it will be lower. Let me know if you need help. Personally I am waiting and will pay the $1500 because the safety/larger car seat capability/ and increase gas mileage. But I am not in a bind to buy...if the incentive went to $2500 or $1500 and 0.9% financing I would buy a 2010
  • clermontflclermontfl Member Posts: 108
Yeah, that sounds Crazy, I paid a little under $32K here in Florida for a 2010 EX-L w/RES & NAV.

    Keep checking.

Could you please share which dealership offers $28600+TTL for 2010 EX-L? We have been looking for one and your response would be really appreciated.
  • dodowolfdodowolf Member Posts: 4
If I got the quote for 2010 EX-L for $28600 + TTL, to buy the equivalent model/trim of 2011, how much more we are looking at here for first couple of months when it is available on market?

Unfortunately with the new pricing now released the new 2011 EX-L will be at the lowest negotiated price of $31K to begin with. They are raising the MSRP of the EX-L by $1k...I personally believe Honda has the best product but are begining to price themselves too high for their target group. And they wonder why sales are hurting? I was going to buy the 2011 but now I wonder should I buy a Grand Caravan at $17K 1/2 the cost and would last half as long.....MY first disappointment ever with HONDA! No make it my second, the first being the only automaker without a military discount.
  • dodowolfdodowolf Member Posts: 4
If 2011 model be available in dealership on Oct., will dealer stop selling 2010 model right away or will they continue to sell whatever have left for 2010 together with the new 2011 models?
  • cheapskate8cheapskate8 Member Posts: 34
They will continue to sell what they have left. Honda might offer the same or better incentive for the 2010. There are 21 2010 EX-L within 30 miles of me still on the lot not including the last 2010s made were shipped out this week. So I am in not a rush to buy. Watch the supply levels on your dealer website and go in either end of month or wait to see if Honda will offer low intrest combined with $1500.

For a base EX-L w/o any add-ons, you should not pay anything higher than 28.7k
  • douga73douga73 Member Posts: 1
I just bought a 2010 Honda Odyssey Touring in Huntington Beach for $35,400 + TTL. Also, I found better financing than what Honda was offering through Bank of America - got 60 months at 2.84%.
  • whigpartywhigparty Member Posts: 15
that's a good deal at this moment. Anything over 35.7 is overprice.
IMHO, touring models should be around 34 when the 11 coming out.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Price is wholly dependent on your local market. Get quotes from stores both within and without your area and you'll quickly be able to determine who has a good number.

Another poster opined that one should not pay more than $28,700. That's great if you can get it. I couldn't last month in Ohio (though ended up very close).
  • tigerisjasontigerisjason Member Posts: 1
bought the 2010 EX-L with pro-pack(splash guard, wheel lock, cargo tray) and added all weather mat for $29,300.

i should've read the warrenty section on this forum to see how much people were paying for the Honda Care. I ended up paying $1200 for 7 years/100k/$0 which people are quoting for $850.

dealership is in Sierra Honda, Monrovia, CA.

I believe this dealer still have 2010 models coming in since mine came off the truck on 9-9 and took delivery 9-10.

    thanks all.

It's SAD what Honda has done.

You have to buy the most expensive models ie: Touring's to get the 6-speed transmission, that is just PLAIN STUPID.

Hell, the cheapest Toyota Sienna comes with a 6-speed transmission, even with their 4-Cyl. Model.

I just returned from previewing the new Odyssey Touring in Hagerstown Md where a rep from Honda is traveling from dealer to dealer to convince everyone that this is the van to be seen in. I believe they failed miserably.

With the exception of a few new bells and whistles, I believe it will take a lot more than this to woo anyone who knows and appreciates anything about the prior Odyssey models, in particular the 2008-2010. I was hoping to replace my 2008 Touring because of the improvements to the center row.... but I am really hesitant now. Looks like we'll have to wait until 2013 or 2014 to see the most refined 2011 redesign. Meaning a return to more leather, better trim... TOO MUCH PLASTIC in this one.

The biggest and best improvement is the center row seating. Each seat moves forward allowing extra leg room for the rear passengers. That is all I am happy about. They replaced some very nice leather trim finish with plastic. They got rid of the little compartments that were found in the rear passenger arm rests. They put the 110 outlet and the audio jacks on the outside with no covers which makes it look utility like, bottm line UGLY! They removed the nice storage box from above the glove box. Outside, they have that stupid zig zag lightning bolt line that truely makes it look like they attached a totally different car to the rear of the front end of this one.

They returned to putting the door key hole in the sheet metal. I think the last time I saw that was on my mom's 1979 Chevy Chevette! The door handles are gaudy... too much chrome! Oh, did I mention that the key hole on the door looks like a bullet hole?!

The wheels are awful, slits in surface?! A little too much! What about the roof rack?! Not practical? The design team boasts having owned upward of 40 Odyssey's in their lifetime combined. Somewhere along the line they faile dto recall just how tight things get even in this van when every passenger has at least one suitcase or duffle bag to bring on the road trip. HUGE oversight. They say you can get it but only as a dealr installed option. ISN"T $44000 ENOUGH!!

HUGE STEP BACKWARDS HONDA! Big dissapointment.

Does anyone know anyone who can modify or build me a whole new center seat on sliders so I can allow for more leg room in 3rd row?

Here's the TRUTH, a Great Van that was once built overseas is now being built in America, the Stupid Unions get involved, and the quality of the Product goes into the Toilet. They get greedy with their garbage parts, union BS, and everything that was once great, is now Garbage...!!!

They keep increasing the price of the Vans because BillyBob working on the assembly line that puts the bolts on the Rims stubbed his toe for wearing his sisters open toed sandals to work and cut his little toe. Now they had to settle with BillyBob who by the way has the only jacked up 4X4 Odyssey in the Parking Lot of Assembly building #7.

    DO THE MATH PEOPLE...!!!

If more customers came to the same feelings as yours after seeing the 2011 model, we might see the prices of the 2011 ody come down rather quickly...
