Just purchased 2011 EXL in smokey topaz for $34,500 OTD near Chicagoland. Price: 31794 Doc: 154 ERT: 25 Tax on above: 2318 (7.25% - Will County) County Tax: 15 Plates: 194 Total: 34500
Used zag.com (when prices were still up on the 2011). Dealer beat the zag OTD by almost 500.
Wow, nice deal, $400 below invoice + destination. I received a quote for an Elite mode and the price was invoice plus $1500. That’s the best price I got but no vans' available with the dealer. Everyone wants MSRP price here in Texas and I was surprised to see they only have very few 2011 models. It looks like dealers in the east coast got a lot of them in stock. I was ready to pay $1500 over invoice but no vans here. I will wait for 2 more weeks to see the availability.
I would like to know how the new 6 speed is doing on gas mileage. I know it is a new engine and will get a bit better later on, but I am anxious to see how the mileage in the real world compares to the window sticker numbers. Thanks.
Here is some information to PRINT and show the dealerships when Negotiating, it's an article stating the state of our US Economy. This article states:
"Bernanke indicated that the Fed is concerned that economic growth is likely to remain lackluster and that unemployment will decline only slowly next year. High unemployment is likely to keep consumers cautious in their spending."
A little clarification I think may be in need right now.
Dealerships try to get as many deals at MSRP because of new re-designs and new models, in which some cases they are deserved. The new 2011 Honda Odyssey is a magnificant vehicle and out of any other Manufacturer out there, Honda is the only one in my opinion that is worth the money they ask. Obviously people want to shop and get the best price so there is always room for negotiation. If you can get a thousand over invoice right now, you are doing good. If you get below that, then some Dealers must be hurting for business and will take smaller profits in order to move product.
My suggestion is to research your Dealer and find out who offers what and what you can get with the vehicle. Whichever offers the most services and products for the best experience and price I think should be the one to earn your business.
For the guy who made the comment that no one wants to earn his business, that's obsurd. Every Dealership wants to earn your business. It's their job, they are just trying to make money to feed their families just like you do at your job. If they are not willing to negotiate though, then that is there loss.
Looking to buy a 2011 Touring or Touring Elite in North Texas... just returned from what I believed to be reputable dealer with a take-it or leave-it quote of $2,965 over MSRP for the Elite and $1,960 over MSRP for the Touring... both models fully (over)loaded with dealer add-ons such as paint/leather protection, wheel locks, etc., etc. to the tune of $2,965 (essentially the mark-up over MSRP for the Elite). Needless to say, I was shocked with both the offer and the unwillingness to deal and/or sell a model without all the dealer adds. The dealer suggested that they're actually moving the new vans at these trim levels for these prices / with these add-ons. Seems my experience is a bit out of the norm from what many others on this board are experiencing, and I'm (needless to say) a bit frustrated and annoyed. I purchased a new 2004 Pilot from this same dealer (in 2004) and have had the car serviced there almost exclusively...I honestly expected a different experience here, but perhaps my expectations on this van at these trim levels needs to be reset (at least with this model being so new)? Thanks for any perspective.
I will say great deal compared to what you can get on a Sienna - it does seem like the touring elites are harder to find, so not sure if discounts would reflect that - I have not seen any on the ground in my boston metro area. As it stands I am having to wait for a located van.
Osho, Congrats for your new Honda. I am sure you are liking it.
Can you tell me the location where you bought this?
The NJ dealer that I am talking with says that they are still selling for MSRP. I am waiting for my Ody that I booked last week. I put a deposit for that and signed all the papers for MSRP as the prices were going for MSRP when I signed. Not sure if I can back off if the dealer doesn't give me the current ongoing pricing which seems to be as much as 4K below MSRP. Can anybody throw some light regarding my options here?
Gazenick, Dont throw in the towel just yet. The most successful dealerships will secure msrp+ for themselves for as long as they can. And who can blame em? With limited supply and solid demand, more power to em. BUT we don't need to buy from them and there are plenty of others looking to make a deal and show volume to their banks/suppliers. I bought my 2011 Touring last week for $35,993 +++ from a dealership after being lectured by my local dealership that anyone selling under msrp was scamming me somehow. Once you know EXACTLY which car (model, color, accessories) you want, use the tools on the web, Edmunds site especially, to get in touch with the internet sales departments of Honda dealers in you vicinity; each one of them for as far as you are willing to drive to pickup your new car. They will make the offers and before you know it they will be bidding against each other for your business. And don't worry about where you buy it, you can always have it serviced at your local dealer. Good luck and post your results when you have em - for better or for worse!
That is completely outrageous. Take your business elsewhere. Alabama, location of Honda's factory, is not that far Texas. There should be better pricing elsewhere in your area. Clearly, the dealer is being too greedy. I had a similar experience when I got my 2005 Pilot where after all the papers were signed, I realized that I overpaid $4K! Even though I get my cars serviced at their shop, I vowed never again! When I was in the market for a 2007 Odyssey, I went to the same dealership again and they tried to pull the same thing. I walked out and got a better deal from another dealer. I also, at that point, decided I didn't want that dealership to profit from me anymore and pulled my servicing business from them as well--even though I thought their service was great. However, guess what, I found a dealership with even better service department. They pick you up to pick up or drop off your car from service.
You're the consumer. It seems the dealer has already left you with a negative impression. I think you should go with your gut. ~$46K for a car is a lot of dough and you should be able to feel good about yourself when you are spending that much.
Also, truecar.com now has sales information for the 2011 odyssey, at least in my area. You should take a look at it.
My experience with pricing has been interesting and a bit weird. Around Oct. 3rd or so - pretty much all dealers were asking MSRP or so.. In about 5 days .. oct. 8th or so - a few dealers were willing to go down to 500 below MSRP and then just this week - I am seeing atleast two dealers coming down to close to 1500 or so below MSRP. Even at the time I bought, some dealers were still sticking to MSRP or 500 below MSRP. The color I wanted in touring (black) wasn't available anywhere within 50 miles so I had to widen my search a bit but I also found that the dealers further away from metro center were more willing to give you a better price too. The final price I paid was ~$3250 less than MSRP.
Hi mic2011, I cant provide pricing quotes for Florida, but I can tell you some of the lower quotes I was getting around Ohio on a 2011 EX with destination and before taxes etc. over the past week- Here are some quotes I received: 29322 29322 29722 29792 29995
Anyone have a good buying experience in San Diego county, California? Trying to decide between 2010 Touring and 2011 Touring, but never bought from a honda dealer in this area. Any info on recent experiences or recommendations much appreciated! Thanks!
Would you mind revealing the dealer you purchased from oshogg? I haven't gotten very far with the Ptld/Vanc dealers and don't mind traveling to reward a dealership that offers fair pricing. Thanks in advance.
Just purchased a 2011 White EX-L with RES with the beige leather interior. It was rather difficult to find this particular color combination but after calling every dealer within 200 miles and offerring them a reasonable price I finally found one.
Vehicle: 33420 Destination: 780 TTL: 2130
Total: 36300
The truffle interior with the white exterior was much more readily available in western KY, but personally I found the beige interior to have a bit more life. (Although my wife has concerns of how well it will age with our kids). I was having such a time finding the white with beige leather interior that it started to become a mystical unicorn that I had to have at any costs. Lucky they accepted my first offer!
We just drove our new 2011 Odyssey back. No trade-in. Negotiated price over internet which they honored. However, be prepare to spend several hours at the dealership. Everyone there was great. Really had a laid back attitude and didn't pressure us too much--although the Finance Dept. did try. We stuck to our guns, got a good financing rate and didn't buy their extended warranty.
$38082 ($400 over invoice including destination charge) +TTL
No matter what dealers tell you, don't bring the rugrats. We were prepared with snacks, Ipods & drinks but our kids had enough after 3 hours. We had a 5 y.o. and twin 3 y.o.'s
Thanks everyone for your prices/posts!! They were really helpful in negotiating our price.
Thanks for your earlier post. We just purchased our car from them as well. They did claim to have more cars to view at their dealership than in reality. But we lucked out and got our desired car.
And just to echo his comments, this board was very useful to me in getting my 2010 Oddy (just totalled so we're getting a 2011 Ody), possibly an EXL - Nav or a Touring.
If you're a lurker and you've found the info useful when you buy, please post your purchase details!!!
Has anyone received pricing from their dealership recently to have an aftermarket headliner mounted dvd player/screen installed? We are looking at an EX and just wanted to get a feel for what we should expect a dealer to charge for a non oem unit installed. I know I can go to a local store after the fact to have completed too.
Checked and it can run around $700-$1200 plus not covered by warranty. If you plan on buying an extended warranty I definitely would buy a odessey with a factory installed b/c it is covered for the length of the warranty. If you don't plan on buying the warranty then go after market.
Where did you get this deal? I went to Garden State Honda yesterday....horrible experience, will post details tomorrow when I have my notes. They thought I was an idiot basically with their lease "calculations"!
I noticed on the lease worksheet there was a security deposit included for the 2011 van we are looking at. Does Honda Finance waive security deposit for returning lease customers? if so, do they require the money factor to be bumped up to cover the waiver? Two dealers said no bump but some online stuff I read (which was older info) mentioned a required bump.
I too debated OEM over aftermarket but in the end decided to go with OEM. The OEM system is great as it's integrated into the stock stereo and the controls are right at your finger tips. I also purchased a 8yr/120K extended warranty which ALSO covers the DVD system which was a big plus for me.
While they are a bit more than an AM unit, I ultimately felt the benefits were worth in with the OEM unit. Good luck!
Hi guys, just got the new 2011- EXL with RES from Princeton Honda, NJ. Here is the break-down.
Vehicle - 33,662.00 Ext. Warranty - 1,398.00 (96 mons, 75,000 Miles) Taxes, Title - 2,454.20 Doc. Fee - 197.00 Tire Fee - 7.50 ---------------------------------------------------------- Total (with Ext.Warranty) 37,718.70 I am very happy with the dealership service and they got me very good financing wiht PNC which offered me 2.25% APR for 63 Months . I made the deal on 16th and got the vehicle on the same day. It is white external with Truffle interior. I didn't do much research on Extended warranty, probably you can save a couple of greens on it.
Thanks for opening all your experiences and suggestions in this forum.
Just a warning that 'True Car.com' invoice price is lot higher than KBB. I went with KBB. Ram
2010 EX RES You should *only* pay invoice amount, or lower -> 29,323 (incl dest) - 1500 incentive = 27,823 plus fees (tax + license + one to two hundred for doc fees)
As a reference, I paid 600 below invoice price for 10 exl.
I received this offer from Garden State on Friday for 2011 EX-L:
$32,485 ($500 over invoice) $1949.10 (6% Sales Tax) $299 Doc (this seems pure profit) $399 DMV (Should only be about $75, more profit) = $35,132.10. Total
So it seems to be about $1,100 over invoice.
I'm curious about chisoupie's dealership. I don't want to be there for more than an hour with our small kids.

Price: 31794
Doc: 154
ERT: 25
Tax on above: 2318 (7.25% - Will County)
County Tax: 15

Used zag.com (when prices were still up on the 2011). Dealer beat the zag OTD by almost 500.
FYI - no trade in, cash deal.
2011 Odyssey Touring
MSRP 41,535
Discount 4,255
Selling Price 37,280
I do have trade which is valued right, so not complaining here.

37502 (vehicle)
+ 780 ( destination)
Total: 38282 - $600 above invoice. There was no trade-in.
If we had waited for a few more weeks, I believe we might have been able to get down a few hundred dollars more - but we needed something now.
The dealership experience was very excellent - once we agreed on the price via email - everything went smoothly without any surprises at the dealer.
Osho

OPTION 1 Without dealer cash assistance and special financing as low as 2.9% on approved credit
INVOICE 29,610.00 plus fees
OPTION 2 With dealer cash assitance but no special financing
28,110.00 plus fees
I have not seen such a deal. I thought the 1.9% and 2.9% were available on all cars.
Pls let me know if you have seen this and what you think. This is for a 2010 EX RES. Ideally, I would like the $28,110 with the special financing.
Any one else getting better deal in Boston area?
