This is in Sacramento Ca. Wife would not wait for the price to drop, this was the best deal I could get. Majority of dealers would not even negotiate below MSRP. Luckily I found 2. Paid too much but wife is happy so Im happy.
i think we can get better deal even now. if not finding good deal i will go ahead with 11.
(I posted above message as a response to a comment, but cant see it anymore. So reposting as a new message.)
I'll be really negotiating at the end of November and beginning of December when my lease on my infiniti is expiring.
2011 Odyssey EX-L

Total Selling Cost $34,080
Acquisition Fee 595
Doc Fees 175
Capital Cost $34,850
Residual: 64% = 62% Base + Bump 2%
Money Factor .0021

Only 2 EX-L's in stock. 2 week wait to get preferred color. This is a large dealer. Very few EX-L's in stock in Chicago area.
Was quoted an internet price of $33,630 by Pauly and $32,970 by a dealer over the border in WI. Salesmen stated that all internet prices are before $780 destination charge. Is this true? Is the $595 acquisition fee normal and customary?
Is that the OTD price? Or still need to add Tax, Title, and license fees? If still need to add it, then doesnt' seem like a good deal. if its OTD, then its a great deal.
I definitely need to get a van by february next year, so I'm not in a big rush. But I'm wondering if there will be any big sale for black friday. I've read its supposed to be the best time to buy a car.
In SoCal the lowest price thus far is the truprice or zag price of $41,370 which I believe is about $1000 over invoice.
Thanks in advance for any insight or tips.
IL Sales tax 2,398
Total Cost $37,248
Just wondering does anyone who is preparing purchase 2010 Odyssey on Black Friday next month in SoCal ?
Maybe all we can join together as a team and go into dealership for good deals.
Crossing fingers to there is still have 2010 models and the price is more reasonable.
I would think it would be highly unlikely that there would be many, if any, 2010's left a month from now. Prices can only go so low. a store won't lose money to sell you a car. At least not on purpose they won't!
This is what one says
unfortunately, Edmunds is just a guide and does not sell the Honda Odyssey, so it is not an accurate place to find the pricing. These Odysseys just arrived and are selling for MSRP.
Price - $29,250
OTD - $32,328
2.8% financing via BofA for the whole thing.
I shopped the $29250 to the only other dealer that had a 10 EXL and he said he couldn't beat it.
Bought it at Fladebo in OC. All in all a good experience. The male internet manager was good. The finance officer was also not too pushy. However, some minor issues did leave a bad impression. They do not have good rating on Yelp so I was somewhat cautious. They do BS a lot. The female internet manager promised me some add-ons at costs. I checked with another dealer and the price she gave me was retail. When I brought it up to her, she blew it off. I didn't get any add-ons. They promised to detail the car after I test drove it, but I noticed, after leaving the parking lot, that some of the issues I pointed out was still there. The male internet manager also told me the modern Hondas do not need to be broken in. Still trying to figure out if that's true.
I was told the internet sales people get paid a flat rate per car and they get a monthly bonus if they sale 15 cars. If you happen to be No 15, leverage it!
This is a demo car with 6000 miles. I knew in advance but did not think it would be a big deal. They had me signed quite a few disclosure documents that I knew it was a demo car. Now I am somewhat nervous. On the drive back (1 hour), I was all paranoid. Every time I heard something, I thought "Is something wrong? Is it because I bought a demo car?!?"
This is bad on my part for not doing more research, but the car did not drive as smooth as I thought it would. Or as quiet. The wife decided we needed a minivan and she decided she wanted a Honda. So it was my job to deliver.
Thank you to all those who replied and posted such great info. I hope you can use some of this info. Best of luck!
EX-L RES at Fuller for $30,995 w/ Pro Pack thrown in
EX-L RES & NAVI for $32,741 at Costa Mesa
Touring for $36,550 at Fladebo
Enjoy.
I used the Edmunds.com tool and requested a quote from the 30 dealers nearest to my home. After vetting the best one I went over and completed the deal.
The only 'trick' was dealing with the internet departments who provided the quotes rather than the retail sales people.
Many quotes came back at MSRP; a few below and well below.
Good luck!
Deal is as follows:
MSRP: $41.535
Invoice: $37,683
Offer: $38,375 ($692 above invoice)
Honda remote starter (installed): $500
Total price: $38,875
Doc fee: $75
Taxes: $2,108.75
Tags: $90.00
TOTAL OTD: $41,148.75
I had a 2003 Accord V6 to trade (for which they gave me $8750) so my OTD cost was $32,398.75.
I can wait till mid-december to buy. will wait and watch and may be go for 2011.
The couple of quotes I have so far from the usual dealers are appx 39.5K. But observing profit margins, invoice ntnl avgs, and the posts here, no way we are spending anything above 36-37max total. The CA and East Coast folks are looking at appx 35... So I'll be looking at those options, closing costs and registration transfer etc... Not in a huge hurry, but would like finalize by Thxgvg or mid Dec.
Def not go for the 39.5K, we can certainly do better... LMK how we can communicate.
Did anybody receive quotes from central jersey dealer in Edison (Open Road Honda)?
I requested for internet quote for 2011 touring and they are still at MSRP. Garden State Honda is the best deal right now offering about $400 above invoice.
ORH says they cannot match it.
Anyone tried to negotiate?
Thanks.
Also, how to calculate OTD price .. this what I have gathered on top of invoice, not sure if we can negotiate on any fees here :
Adv Fees - 350-500 approx
Processing Fee : 470
Tag : 122
Tax - 3% in NC
Doc Fee - 120 approx
Thanks in advance ...
The '11 Touring elites are trickling into the LA/OC dealerships. I'm getting a bunch of "you are the first one I called" phone calls for the car at MSRP with no chance of negotiating. At least 5-6 dealers told me they will be getting more inventory into late November and December. There was only 1 dealer at the Zag.com pricing of $1000 over invoice. There was another dealer at $42000.
I did my homework. If they were on Edmunds.com as a dealer in the LA/OC county, then they got an email from me. I'll probably wait until the last minute (early December for me) to get a '11 Ody.
Will definitely try to post updates as I get calls back from the dealers.
$38089 before taxes, freight and doc fees ($100).
Best deal I could find in Maryland. At Ken Dixon Honda in Waldorf. Someone here recommended them. I didn't like the idea of the drive (over an hour from where I live) but their price was worth it to me. It's their Internet price. The price is a few hundred under the USAA price. And they didn't slap any crappy options on like pin striping or wheel lug nut locks. Price goes up $300 if you go in to see a sales rep so do your test drive somewhere else to save $$. Other dealers were playing games with the USAA price ($39090 but I think that includes freight which is about $700). Ken Dixon's only games were trying to sell extended warranties and other add-ons like windshield protection. Since we didn't finance or trade-in, they might play those games too. This only applies to what they have in stock - which is accurately listed on their website. They had the same 5 Odysseys (only one touring) all week so if dealers are telling you these are selling like hotcakes, I would be suspicious. If you can wait, you might want to consider something like February next year to buy. I would bet their inventory will be pretty high. Or there might be a few used ones on the market by then. Good luck and thanks to all of those who shared their buying information. It helped me tremendously.
