Im a Lurker posting price I paid yesterday.

Price -33,828 (includes Dest fee) about 1500 above invoice
    Roof Rails-386
    Doc fee-55
    Tax-8.75% (Damn cali tax) 2,994
    Title/License-395
    OTD-37,713

This is in Sacramento Ca. Wife would not wait for the price to drop, this was the best deal I could get. Majority of dealers would not even negotiate below MSRP. Luckily I found 2. Paid too much but wife is happy so Im happy.

curious to know the exact price breakdown for your 2011 touring. does the 35,993 include destination? also, how did you negotiate a price so much lower than invoice? did you happen to have a trade-in? any help would be greatly appreciated....because i feel your price was outstanding. thanks!

Saravanan, I live close to Philly so I am looking at PA dealerships. Hardly any EXL RES NAV left. Some white Tourings are available. I know that my brother recently bought a EXL RES NAV from sussex honda. What configurations are you looking for? When are you looking to buy? Maybe we can tag and go a dealer around Philly for a better bargain. The quotes that I have are 33,500 for EXL RES NAV and 36,500 for Touring. Obviously Tax and Docs extra.

I think you're over by at least a grand on both - but it could be the market for 2010s has somewhat ironically tightened
  • hitchens97hitchens97 Member Posts: 62
hey duqqq - thanks for posting. I purchased in the bay area - don't think you should feel bad - not sure you could have done much better than that; I went back and forth a lot here, and got about the same; nobody seems to be getting deals here in NorCal like the others are posting.

I am in the market for a 2011 touring, any st. louis area buying experiences? If somebody is in the same boat, may be we can tag along for a better deal.

actually few months ago i had a deal of $29500 on exl-res and 31500 on exl-res-nav.. i just dropped i as waiting for 2011..

Can anyone post the latest 2010 EX L RES NAV and 2010 Touring quotes you have been getting? Grateful! I might take the plunge in couple of weeks. I am tempted to go 2011 but wary of first year production model. Otherwise, from a pricing perspective, I can eat the 1 - 2.5K difference.

if you go back a few pages, you will see I paid 31,900 including destination for a 2010 EXL with RES/NAV in NJ. At this point, I would offer 31,500 - they have to sell these cars. I am happy with my purchase.
  • manigopimanigopi Member Posts: 17
Thanks bwaseem. Did you get any 'freebies' with it? Mats, remote start etc etc? Just want to be well informed :-)

hi bwaseem: it would be great if you can share the dealer's name? also, do you know if they still have any 2010 Tourings left? The best deal i am getting so far for a 2010 Touring is ~$35,500 when folks in southern CA can buy it for $33.9K. Thanks in advance!

I've been getting a few nibbles on the 2011 Touring Elite $42400 and $41370 are the best offers so far in the past week.

I'll be really negotiating at the end of November and beginning of December when my lease on my infiniti is expiring.

Please let me know what you think of the following deal I was offered today Pauly Honda, Libertyville, IL.

    2011 Odyssey EX-L
    MSRP $35,230

    Vehicle Cost $31,985
    Markup 2,095

    Total Selling Cost $34,080

    Acquisition Fee 595
    Doc Fees 175

    Capital Cost $34,850

    Residual: 64% = 62% Base + Bump 2%
    Money Factor .0021
    12,000 mile/yr

Only 2 EX-L's in stock. 2 week wait to get preferred color. This is a large dealer. Very few EX-L's in stock in Chicago area.

Was quoted an internet price of $33,630 by Pauly and $32,970 by a dealer over the border in WI. Salesmen stated that all internet prices are before $780 destination charge. Is this true? Is the $595 acquisition fee normal and customary?

Is that the OTD price? Or still need to add Tax, Title, and license fees? If still need to add it, then doesnt' seem like a good deal. if its OTD, then its a great deal.

Anyone know or think there will be a sale on honda odysseys on black friday next month?

I definitely need to get a van by february next year, so I'm not in a big rush. But I'm wondering if there will be any big sale for black friday. I've read its supposed to be the best time to buy a car.
  • mikeintheocmikeintheoc Member Posts: 23
Not sure about the leasing numbers you provide but the price by Zag.com in California is $33,300 for an 2011 EX-L WITH destination included. Those prices look good until you add about $1000 destination, then the price is average.
  • utc1utc1 Member Posts: 3
Curious to see if anyone has had any luck negotiating on the Elites? I understand that inventory is low so the deals aren't that great at the moment. Planning on purchasing in the next month or two and will likely hold off until the supply exceeds demand.

In SoCal the lowest price thus far is the truprice or zag price of $41,370 which I believe is about $1000 over invoice.

Thanks in advance for any insight or tips.

Maybe all we can join together as a team and go into dealership for good deals.

Crossing fingers to there is still have 2010 models and the price is more reasonable. :)

There is certainly no shortage of "experts" who will tell you what the best day there is when buying a car. Never heard of the "Black Friday" suggestion nor have I ever heard of Black Friday.

I would think it would be highly unlikely that there would be many, if any, 2010's left a month from now. Prices can only go so low. a store won't lose money to sell you a car. At least not on purpose they won't!
  • luvinlifeinflluvinlifeinfl Member Posts: 19
33300 plus the destination fee? I haven't heard of 2011's going for under invoice yet.
  • luvinlifeinflluvinlifeinfl Member Posts: 19
All the dealers near me (North Florida, Southern Alabama) charge between $499 and $699 documentation fee! I havent seen anyone posting on here pay anything like that, is it something we can negotiate? So far the best I have been offered for an EX-L with RES is $34400 including destination which is $600 over invoice.

Dallas-Fort Worth dealerships are pretty erogant enjoying the MSRP mostly.

    This is what one says

unfortunately, Edmunds is just a guide and does not sell the Honda Odyssey, so it is not an accurate place to find the pricing. These Odysseys just arrived and are selling for MSRP.
  • gene00gene00 Member Posts: 115
Doc fees in Ala & Fla are set at the discretion of the dealer, and it's pure profit (they already pay the guy who prepares the docs). Edmunds says that if it's anything over $100, you should negotiate either the car price or the doc fee itself down to compensate.

I was stationed down there in NW Florida last year. I Bought 2 new Accords. I tried messing with Gary Smith Honda and Pensacola Honda with no luck. They were overcharging the troops. Then I went to the Honda delearship in Daphne. I thought I had a deal and was at the Credit Union picking up the PALS when I called to have the quotes faxed. They added the$499 ea fee. I told them sorry you lost two sales today. So I contacted Treadwill Honda and talked to Joe Sutter not only was he the lowest price (True net/net), no fees but he also drove both cars the 100 miles each way to me in FWB. Give him a call. I wished I wasn't in California now: we had to buy a 2010 Touring this month b/c we got pregnant with our third one month after buying the Accords. It took a while and 8 dealers to negotiate the price Joe told me was net/net on the Odessey. True straight shooter.
  • luvinlifeinflluvinlifeinfl Member Posts: 19
Thanks for the info. I will call Treadwell in the morning. Though I did call them a week a go and they wouldn't budge off the MSRP for the 2011 so I didn't get as far as discussing doc fees. As you know Gary Smith Honda is a waste of time; I really don't know how they stay in business. They put extra things on the cars so they are a $1000++ before you start negotiating! None of the dealerships around here are very military friendly...you would think we could get a deal!

I had tracked the 2010 inventory of 18 dealers in SD and OC and, to my knowledge, this was the last 2010 Ex-L (no RES or NAVI). The 2nd to last was sold while I was on the phone with the internet manager.

    Price - $29,250
    OTD - $32,328
2.8% financing via BofA for the whole thing.

I shopped the $29250 to the only other dealer that had a 10 EXL and he said he couldn't beat it.

Bought it at Fladebo in OC. All in all a good experience. The male internet manager was good. The finance officer was also not too pushy. However, some minor issues did leave a bad impression. They do not have good rating on Yelp so I was somewhat cautious. They do BS a lot. The female internet manager promised me some add-ons at costs. I checked with another dealer and the price she gave me was retail. When I brought it up to her, she blew it off. I didn't get any add-ons. They promised to detail the car after I test drove it, but I noticed, after leaving the parking lot, that some of the issues I pointed out was still there. The male internet manager also told me the modern Hondas do not need to be broken in. Still trying to figure out if that's true.

I was told the internet sales people get paid a flat rate per car and they get a monthly bonus if they sale 15 cars. If you happen to be No 15, leverage it!

This is a demo car with 6000 miles. I knew in advance but did not think it would be a big deal. They had me signed quite a few disclosure documents that I knew it was a demo car. Now I am somewhat nervous. On the drive back (1 hour), I was all paranoid. Every time I heard something, I thought "Is something wrong? Is it because I bought a demo car?!?"

This is bad on my part for not doing more research, but the car did not drive as smooth as I thought it would. Or as quiet. The wife decided we needed a minivan and she decided she wanted a Honda. So it was my job to deliver.

Thank you to all those who replied and posted such great info. I hope you can use some of this info. Best of luck!

Since I just bought, hope someone can use this info. These were the best quotes I got for each of the below 2010 trimming:

EX-L RES at Fuller for $30,995 w/ Pro Pack thrown in
EX-L RES & NAVI for $32,741 at Costa Mesa
    Touring for $36,550 at Fladebo

    Enjoy.

Just make sure you talk to Joe Sutter...and tell him congrats on his marriage. Tell him the one he drove the two Accords to last summer sent you and he will probably chuckle. I am still sending troops I know at Hurlburt to him and he hasn't disappointed me yet. And no I don't get a gift card or anything for each referral. He is like a Honda proven reliable.

sorry I meant headrest DVD's from visualogic. you can replace OEM headrest with 100% match headrest with DVD
  • newtouringnewtouring Member Posts: 4
That price did not include the destination tax title or licensing.
I used the Edmunds.com tool and requested a quote from the 30 dealers nearest to my home. After vetting the best one I went over and completed the deal.
The only 'trick' was dealing with the internet departments who provided the quotes rather than the retail sales people.
Many quotes came back at MSRP; a few below and well below.
    Good luck!

I just bought a Crystal Black Pearl 2011 Odyssey Touring from the Internet Sales manager (whose initials are KP) at D'ella Honda in Queensbury, NY. He was amazing. I am a mom of 2 (with a 3rd on the way) and I have no time for BS. He gave me a great deal, a great price on my trade and didn't try to upsell me on all the crap I didn't need.

    Deal is as follows:
    MSRP: $41.535
    Invoice: $37,683
    Offer: $38,375 ($692 above invoice)

    Honda remote starter (installed): $500
    Total price: $38,875
    Doc fee: $75
    Taxes: $2,108.75
    Tags: $90.00
    TOTAL OTD: $41,148.75

I had a 2003 Accord V6 to trade (for which they gave me $8750) so my OTD cost was $32,398.75.

Did the Crystal Lake Honda dealer in their quote tell you that there is $495 in dealer accessories added to the van that was not included in their quote? I contacted them a few months ago about a 2010 Odyssey LX. The price they sent me via e-mail was very good so I drove over there to purchase the van. When I got there the same internet person you were dealing with turned me over to another salesperson who explained to me that all of their cars have these accessories installed and they will not remove them. Also, their quote on my trade was $1,500 lower than another Honda dealer so I left.
  • luvinlifeinflluvinlifeinfl Member Posts: 19
Is anyone getting a good deal with trade in value? I used Kelley Blue Book to appraise my car. It comes up with 18750 for excellent and 17750 for good condition. I would say its excellent condition and no one has disagreed that it isnt but they dont seem to use KBB as a valuation guide. 16500 to 17K is what im getting offered when I know retail its worth $23K. It seems impossible to get a decent price offered for the Odysessy and a fair price for my trade in.

It depends on two things. One is the price negotiated before trade. Negotiate your bottomline price before trade. Have them send you a quote in writing. Now bring your trade into the deal. Bring your kbb and nada with you. Do not depend on getting much more than trade-in value excellent. If you trying to trade a Honda for a Honda expect less for your trade if your trade is 1-3 years old. They can buy a new one for what used resale is. If you are going for a 2011 Odessey then wait a few months till everyone's buying fever goes away. They literally will sell the 2011 to someone else by the end of the month and before the next load is delivered, so they are not worried. In a couple months they will negotiate more, but with supply and demand they have the 2011 buyers cornered. 2010 models gives more negotiating room b/c the dealer buys them on floorplan which is like 90 days same as cash...after 90 days they have to pay interest. If they had it delivered back in August they have to sale it or start lose the money. So they have to move them. Hope it helps.

Yes, in the same boat. Let's see what we find in STL, otherwise looking in IL, IN, and beyond, possibly considering alternative options, like Sienna Ltd, although we prefer the Ody 11 Tour.
The couple of quotes I have so far from the usual dealers are appx 39.5K. But observing profit margins, invoice ntnl avgs, and the posts here, no way we are spending anything above 36-37max total. The CA and East Coast folks are looking at appx 35... So I'll be looking at those options, closing costs and registration transfer etc... Not in a huge hurry, but would like finalize by Thxgvg or mid Dec.
Def not go for the 39.5K, we can certainly do better... LMK how we can communicate.

    Hello,
Did anybody receive quotes from central jersey dealer in Edison (Open Road Honda)?

I requested for internet quote for 2011 touring and they are still at MSRP. Garden State Honda is the best deal right now offering about $400 above invoice.

ORH says they cannot match it.

    Anyone tried to negotiate?

    Thanks.

Hi, Any inputs in Cary, NC in terms of price expectations for EXL-RES 2011 Odyssey, some dealers came back with 34,742 as shown on truecar.com but some are at MSRP, what a waste of time mailing these dealerships in this hard economy, instead of incentive to people buying new vehicle they are ripping off asking MSRP.

Also, how to calculate OTD price .. this what I have gathered on top of invoice, not sure if we can negotiate on any fees here :
    Adv Fees - 350-500 approx
    Processing Fee : 470
    Tag : 122
    Tax - 3% in NC
    Doc Fee - 120 approx

    Thanks in advance ...

Sell it yourself and see what it is really worth. Even better, list it on eBay and see what offers you get.

    utc1,

The '11 Touring elites are trickling into the LA/OC dealerships. I'm getting a bunch of "you are the first one I called" phone calls for the car at MSRP with no chance of negotiating. At least 5-6 dealers told me they will be getting more inventory into late November and December. There was only 1 dealer at the Zag.com pricing of $1000 over invoice. There was another dealer at $42000.

I did my homework. If they were on Edmunds.com as a dealer in the LA/OC county, then they got an email from me. I'll probably wait until the last minute (early December for me) to get a '11 Ody.

Will definitely try to post updates as I get calls back from the dealers.

    no trade in. no financing.
$38089 before taxes, freight and doc fees ($100).
Best deal I could find in Maryland. At Ken Dixon Honda in Waldorf. Someone here recommended them. I didn't like the idea of the drive (over an hour from where I live) but their price was worth it to me. It's their Internet price. The price is a few hundred under the USAA price. And they didn't slap any crappy options on like pin striping or wheel lug nut locks. Price goes up $300 if you go in to see a sales rep so do your test drive somewhere else to save $$. Other dealers were playing games with the USAA price ($39090 but I think that includes freight which is about $700). Ken Dixon's only games were trying to sell extended warranties and other add-ons like windshield protection. Since we didn't finance or trade-in, they might play those games too. This only applies to what they have in stock - which is accurately listed on their website. They had the same 5 Odysseys (only one touring) all week so if dealers are telling you these are selling like hotcakes, I would be suspicious. If you can wait, you might want to consider something like February next year to buy. I would bet their inventory will be pretty high. Or there might be a few used ones on the market by then. Good luck and thanks to all of those who shared their buying information. It helped me tremendously.
