Live north or Boston, MA. Went to local dealership that I have been in touch with the past month regarding possible 04 pilot or odyssey but decided to put down $500 refundable deposit towards 05 odessy. They said should have on the lot in 3-4 weeks and had me sign paperwork that price would be MSRP providing they had model and color I wanted. Does anyone think that dealerships will sell below MSRP in first month?

Monday morning - used Edmunds to request price quotes in my area (Cincinnati) - only 3 internet dealers in area - One responded later that morning ($25,948 including Destination & Delivery). Number 2 responded at 5 PM ("$25.9"), #3 responded the next morning (never got quote).

Monday afternoon - Test drive, then purchase order:
    $25948 + $99 doc fee + $25 title fee + TAX.
P.S. Since this particular vehicle was a dealer trade that had mud guards ($119 list), received those for "free".

I am glad I could help. When I checked prices in the Denver area a month ago everyone was quoting $25,950+taxes for EX-RES. I mentioned the $24,750+DH+taxes price from a dealer in Arizona and John Elway Honda quietly agreed to match that price after 2 days. Then Burt Honda agreed to match it after a week. I see that the dealer in Boulder ( where you bought yours ) also has finally decided to throw in the towel and match that price. And the saving is somewhere around $900.

Oh, the power of the internet!

I have still not pulled the trigger on the 2004 Odyssey as I want to take a hard look at the redesigned 2005 model before I do so.

I am not after the top-of-the-line touring edition. The only things I want to evaluate are the new seating configurations and the quietness of ride of the 05 model. If I find that they are not worth the additional money I may yet go for the 04. Why part with hard-earned cash for features that we may not need. I can pay cash for even the top of the line model right now, but won't. I am a value conscious buyer.

We bought a 2004 Ody EX cloth for $24,750 + TTL @ 4.49%/60 months/$0 down(HFAC) yesterday in Washington State. Talked to all local dealers, no others would touch this price, some dealers had no 04's left at all.

We will be picking up a 04 Odyssey EX-cloth next week. I am having trouble locating the new car checklist. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

We are ready to purchase an 2004 Odyssey EXL. While looking at the previous posts, the lowest price seems to be around $24,750 to $25,000. Does anyone know of any dealers that will be able to offer the same price in NC or SC? Or any nearby states? We are willing to drive several hours to get in on a good deal.

    Daddy,
I'd like to PM you about the Contact Person from where you bought your 2004 Honda Odyssey. Please tell me how can I PM you? I am new to this forum and don't know all the tricks of the trade yet...

    Thanks,
    Zubair.

If people don't mind being contacted, they can mark their email address public in their profile. Or you can, and ask people to email you.

Click on someone's name to get to their profile and click on Town Hall Profile at the top left to change your settings.

I've been browsing here for a few days reading up on negotiations and deals. I was wondering what I info should I include in the request for a quote from a dealer? Do I tell them color, model EX-RES, mats, foglamps, other options? or just mention what they can do for a particular model? Please advise, I plan to buy before the clearance is over on 9/7 in Columbus Ohio. Would deals be any better if I wait until its over or will everything be gone by then?
    Thanks for your help

I have been working with a dealer on a 05 Ody...but realized my old Accord (1986!) probably should also be replaced (probably with an 04 Civic). I though, maybe I should get 2 new cars! I can probably work out the financing for 2 cars (creatively). My question is, how much can I expect from my dealer on a deal like this?
    Thoughts?

Some options, like mats and fog lights, can be added by the dealer (or yourself if you get them aftermarket), so it's probably not necessary to get that detailed. But I would specify the model and first and second color preferences.

It's hard to say what the inventory will look like after the 7th or if the deals will be much better. Some have reported a dozen or more Odyssey's at their dealer and others report zero. The selection won't be getting much better I don't think!

We bought an EX-L through an internet manager in FL and what a pleasure it was! Once we agreed on a price ($25200, we had to drive to get it but this price beat the local prices by $200-$400), we set a time to pick it up. The van was prepped and the paperwork waiting for us. All we had to do was check out the van and sign the paperwork. There were no surprises. I loved dealing with a manager bc he could make a decision right then. There wasn't any,"I have to check with my manager." lines and this guy was completely courteous and professional. I will definitely buy this way again!

Please be kind to share the dealer's name in New Jersey.

    I am very much interested.

Why don't you contact a Honda at Aberdeen, NC.
When I called them two months ago, they provided the lowest price in NC. An EX was then about $23700-23800 (invoice minus all the incentives), which I thought still high. I didn't ask the price of EXL. Good luck.

    Hi,
I sent out so many requests for a quote but only have 1 back for a EX-RES for "25,668.11 plus tax and title" in Columbus OH. Are the Destination & Delivery charges and all other fees included in this price? Meaning $25668.11 + 25$ title fess + 6.75% tax is my total? Should I ask what the doc fees are and try to negotiate more or is this a good deal? Does the EX-RES include leather or just cloth with rear entertainment system?
    Thanks alot for your help.

    Thank you!

Just bought an LX from Showcase Honda in AZ. Paid $23,365 OTD. It included there "option Package" which was basically tint, mats, accent striping, and the keyless entry with alarm which is nice. I dealt with a fleet guy over the phone and through email, great to work with, no hassles. I drove clear from Las Vegas because I saved well over $1,000.00 and they had the color my wife wanted. One vegas dealer quoted me 10$ under msrp! They were willing to deliver for a reasonable charge, but I have family in Phoenix so it was a nice trip and I was a bit leery about buying sight unseen with no test drive.

    Hi psp,

That's a really good price for an EX. Could you please email me the name of the sales person that you work with? If you click on my ID, you will see my email address. Did you have a trade-in? Thanks.
  • roy2001roy2001 Member Posts: 62
Hi Hophead, LX model does have tint and mats, right? why you need to pay for them? For extra dark colored tint and some special ordered mats? I think LX can be have for $21500 with destination included.

    psp,

I marked my email public. Kindly provide me with the contact person at Open Road via email. Thank you for your help.

I paid 21,300 for the LX including dest. there was a $299 doc fee 5$ tire tax and $30 drive off permit fee the rest of the price was tax. The option package is all they had in stock. The keyless entry and alarm were the extras though they listed the tint as a dealer add on. So with the extras it was still below invoice which I believe is 22,000 and change.

No biggie anh68 - not naming names helps to keep the shill posts off the boards. I've only had to get rid of one today from an over-eager Honda salesperson :-)

(Funny Salesman Story) My wife and I had gone to check out the 04 Ody's to see if we wanted one but we ran out of time for a test drive. We come back the next week and this GREEN sales guy (20 yrs old?) comes running up to greet us. We ask for the original sales guy we originally saw and he goes in to call him. Comes back and tells us He's not in but I can take you for a test drive no problem. Then he says to my wife ( I still cant believe it)"Let me get this right, you dont make any money?( So I need to talk to you (looking at me). The poor kid was toast and he didn't even realize it. Who did he think would be driving it anyway? My wife actually agreed to test drive with the kid and he asks us while we're driving around "So you guys have any kids?" Do they train these guys at all? Anyway I got a good chuckle out of it, and my wife did too (after she cooled down.

Don't know if Houston is close enough, but we paid $24,400 (+tax + "protection package"=VIN etch and acrylic + title/license + $50 admin fee for a total of $26,500) last week for the last one on the lot. Our other bids were $24,700 from two different dealers, and they had a couple on each lot.

I used the Edmunds.com price quote service to get the price on Honda Civic EX sedan w/auto. I get a response from their Internet Fleet Manager. I replied via e-mail to see if they can do better and they responds by saying that they can't go lower. Since they gave a good price in the initial response, I call them and ask them if they have the car in blue.

He responds by asking me in a nasty tone of voice, "Did I say that we have it in stock?"

I ask him, "Why are you being so rude? Do you not want to sell the car?"

And he replies, "No, I don't want to sell you a car," and hangs up on me.

I call their Customre Service Person, and she was really apologetic and tells me that she will make sure that they will be reprimanded for their actions. Then I get a call from their manager who tells me that he can't sell me the car at the price they quoted because they don't have any EXs on the lot.

So I ask him, "You mean to tell me that you have no 2004 Civic EXs on stock?"

    He says "Yes, none."

I felt a bit suspicious so I ask my friend in the area to check the lot since I'm 100 miles away. My friend calls me and tells me that they have several in the lot.

I had a very good experience buying my sister's CR-V from them but this experience totally makes me unhappy. I plan to write to Honda Corp. to make sure these things don't happen to others.

It wouldn't hurt to cc the owner of the dealer too. I know sales were down in August, but there's no call to get nasty with customers about it.

We purchased from the internet sales manager at Capitol City Honda in Olympia. All negotiation was done over phone, overall the easiest new car buying experience yet.

you can get a good doctor or a bad one. For every horror story about a jerk "Old School" salesman or a New Green Pea that says stupid stuff....there are 100 more that do their job, take care of their customers needs, under promises and over delivers....but the way I look at it.....Customer Satifatction is the starting point....delight me

I had the worst ever experience with this dealership in Passaic/Clifton New Jersey.

There motto is 'We crush the compeition' and they give you price gurantee which states that if they cannot beat the compititors price they pay you rain-check of $750.00.

    Here is what happened:
My cousin and I went to Passaic dealrship. The sales person went over all this BS (price gurantee....). His quote was 'True Market Value'. We asked him to check if he had the colors in inventory we are looking for. He came back and said, yes they did. So at this point, I showed him the invoice of my pruchase from Open Road Honda. He took the invoice to his manager and comes back and says that he cannot beat the price. They do not have the color we were interested in (Lie). This invoice is too old (less than one week is too old????).

Then we went to their Clifton showroom. Same story repeated there. We were eager to find out why do have price gurantee motto when they cannot beat the price and can't even pay $750 rain check?? We told the sales person that she had a very crooked job. We didn't want to tell them out right that they were all bunch of liars.

I will advise everyone to stay away from this dealership. We will not step inside this dealership again - that is for sure.

Just purchased an 04 Odyssey EX-RES at $24,950 ($500 below invoice). It's an easy process working with the internet sale manager. Only thing I don't like is the Car I got is a dealer "swap" so it got 260 miles on it already, but it's the last one (manufactured in 07/04) and we like the color. Does anyone have bad experience with "swap" car with a few hundreds mile on it?

how much did you paid for you Odyssey?
  • tmantman Member Posts: 3
Honda motors said the 05 is coming out on Sep 22 and i call the Honda dealers to get a price on them and dealers said their don't have the prices yet. It is now sep 6. What are their waiting for? to sell out the 04's? If people know's about the 05 with all the figures, and the price is right i don't think dealers are going to sell all the 04. Have anyone have gotten a price for the 05's yet? Tman.
  • hangaralf1hangaralf1 Member Posts: 107
i did this with a toyota - 10 years and 100,000+ miles ago. still have the car. but they added the mileage to the warranty mileage. (not that i needed it)- i love my corolla. it probably won't make a difference on your odyssey - i have one of those too ('99) and still no major problems (75000 - now that i said it....)
  • rbell2rbell2 Member Posts: 180
Sure they will sell all the '04's even if the MSRP is right on the 05's. They will just sell them for an even lower price than they are now!!
