How much was the Tourning DVD/RES out the door? I paid 40,000 for mine (silver/black) but have had it since October 10, I probably paid way too much!!!!!!!! I should stop reading this forum but I am curious about OTD prices.
Just to be sure, I got two quotes from Bedard, a Touring with Nav/Res for $35.5k and an EX-L with Nav/Res for $31.9k, both with $50 doc fee. Is this consistent with what you were quoted? Don't really want PAX tires, but if I am going to save approx. $3k, make me feel like I got all the other extras for free.
Wow, Where is this Bedard dealer located?. I got a quote for a Touring with Nav/Res for 39600 OTD. And EX-L with Nav/Res for $34600 OTD from a Northern VA. dealer. i am leaning towards the EXL DVD/NAV as 34600 was the best I 'have received from the Metro Washington DC area. I am new to the Forum.. Any help or directions, guidance will be appreciated. DB
You will only get yourself confused by asking about OTD pricing. Sales tax can vary from nothing to 10% depending on where you live. Same applies to licence fees. Also some places charge hundreds of dollars in doc. fees.
Someone will always come here and rain on your parade by telling you you paid too much.
So...life is short, you have a VERY nice ride, enjoy!
What if one pays the deposit with cc in NY and has a copy of the order sheet listing all the fees and taxes. Signed for the credit charge and on the bill of sale. I am waiting for my ody...but would like to cancel the order all together. The fine print says that the deposit is not refundable. What possibilities are there? The important lesson here is ...if there is a waiting period for a car (spend that time researching other best prices), do not put a deposit unless it is absolutely refundable.
I HAVE FOUND ONLY ONE DEALER IN SEATTLE METRO AREA WILLING TO SELL 05 ODY EXL RES AT MSRP. EVERYBODY ELSE IS 500 TO 2000 OVER MSRP. ANYONE HAVE ANY BETTER LUCK IN THE SEATTLE AREA.
Fully agree with the lesson. If the car is not to be available in a forseeable future, better put in writing in some way so that you can get your deposit back.
Some dealers just want to hold you and say whatever they want to say to get you sign and put the deposit ... I have called several deals for the color I want. I heard the same thing over and over again: "We will get you whatever color you want. We do dealer trade. Blar Blar." The result is very likely: no one has it and all are waiting for the next allocation.
My OTD price is $35,558 ($950 over invoice plus $50 doc fee)for the Touring with Nav/Res. Keep in mind, I live in NH and won't pay a sales tax. Bedard agreed to deliver it to my house for no cost so I can avoid the tax.
I am in Norhtern California. I gave a dealer $500 credit card deposit over the phone but changed my mind a week or two later. I called and emailed the dealer for a refund, and they credit the $500 back to my card in a week.
Unless you sign something that says the deposit is non-refundable, the dealer has to give you a full refund. Just make sure the credit is posted to your account within 60 days of the closing date of the statement in which the charge was posted. You will be able to dispute the charge if it comes to that.
the issue has been discussed before, but I don't believe that legally they can enforce that. Even if they could, most reputable dealers wouldn't try to. They will certainly sell it to someone else.
This logic, though, doesn't apply to special orders. If you want a pink F150 with crank windows and no AC, you better expect to put down a chunk of change that you won't see again if you stick the dealer with an unsellable unit.
In any case, just call, explain that your situation has changed, and can they please credit your card back. If they give you a hassle, you can contest the charge with tehe CC company.
It really isn't sortha busy dealers time to create ill will by fighting you over ths deposit.
Just got my VIN# today. The van should be here in less than 10 days.
34,558 950 50 ------- 35,558 ------- To this I have to pay 6% PA taxes. :-( Each state has its own tax structure. No getting away from it. It has been painless so far dealing with Bedard Brothers. I ordered around the 20 of October.
Bedard Bros is located in Western Mass, an hour east of Albany, NY. It will be a 4 hour drive from my house in NJ. I just came back from a local dealer in NJ and was quoted MSRP if I wanted Nav/DVD, I could get $1,000 off if I did not want NAV/DVD. I'm calling and placing my order with Bedard right now.
does anyone have an 05 EX-L w/RES ? We recently bought one and one of the cool features is 'XM Ready' radio. I kinda thought that meant if you subscribe to the service, the XM radio will jump to life. I called our local service dept. and they said that it really needed additional equipment to operate and dealer installed upgrade (honda stuff) would cost like $600 plus installation. The manual with the van says it's ready to receive but requires a subscription.. Has anyone activated XM in their 2005 EX and how did you do it? Thanks!
Just got off the phone with Bedard, they required the deposit by check, not CC, was that the same for you? Also, they indicated my order would probably come in around Feb since they are getting so many orders from people on this site.
There has to be some way that local dealers should be appraised of the fact that that they should be willing to negotiate with serious buyers.
We went in with full financing(home equity loan)The local dealership looked shocked when I asked if they would give me any kind of discount. The most that they could do was "see" if I could get the mats at a cheaper price than what is available at Honda :-)
I did not know about Bedard Brothers at that point. If my local dealer had given me 1000 off I would have grabbed that offer. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason I guess. Now my VIN# is not in the recall.
It boggles the mind that even with so much information easily available so few people seem to be doing their homework before going in to the dealerships.
I am yet to see even one Ody van in my small town and I am always on the lookout.
boomzer: I have sent in a personal check for 500. But they have not yet cashed it in. I asked them to hold it as I would like to pay for the entire amount through my home equity loan check book.
He said he just needed the check for good faith. He will send you a purchase order(fax)with your van details. They will also again send you a copy of your check as well as the purchase order by snail mail later on. I am now anxiously waiting for next weekend to go and pick up my van. Good Luck
Is Bedard Bros a dealership? Where are they located? I want to get a Touring Nav/DVD and the responses regarding Bedard seem to be positive. Please let me know...thanks!
psuwife: Thanks for the insight. The salesperson told me that if I ordered now, the van would not be ready til Feb. I indicated that you ordered Oct. 20 and would probably be receiving within 10 days. Due to the interest generated by this site, they are backlogged and now the wait is longer. No problem for me though as my Olds Siloutte does not go off lease until end of March. Are you still planning on using old plates to pick the van up and not send balance of payment until you get to Mass?
Bedard is located in Western Mass about an hour from Albany and 20 minutes from Vermont. I called today to place my order, they are faxing a purchase agreement. The wait has gotten longer so don't delay
how do you know your VIN#? Does it mean the car is at the dealer's lot already or does it mean it is being allocated to the dealer and maybe on the way to the dealer?
Today my dealer called me in the morning and told me that the van had been built and inspected at the Alabama plant. Now as soon as he "sees the headlights in Cheshire" he will give me a call.
The VIN # appears on the dealer"s computer listing when the van rolls off the belt and is inspected by the mechanics. That is the impression I got.
Now it will take 10 days for the van to show up in MA. I will be using my plates from my van as my insurance agent as well as DMV office has said it is perfectly okay. Bedard Brothers is the location of their local DMV office also I think. Can any of the other customers please clear that up.
20 minutes from Vermont. Should be a great drive. I have never been to Vermont. The kids are getting their playstation, dvds... ready for next week :-).
This site has been a great value. My wife had stated the dealer would not give us the deposit back because they had acknowledged in an email message the deposit was non-refundable. Since my wife did not sign any documents are we okay in disputing this claim with our credit card carrier?
Picked up our 05 EXL this morning, our second Oddy, first one was a 2000. Not to brag, but our purchasing experience was easy, done over the phone, required no deposit, and paid $1600 "UNDER" MSRP, though most dealers in Louisiana were asking MSRP plus. Only one other dealership would match the price. Also got stripes and mud flaps at no cost, plus the salesman helped put the front mask on the van before we pulled away. This is the fourth Honda we have bought from the same dealer. All purchased the same way.
Would like to purchase '05 EX Odyssey, tomorrow. I need to present Dealer with prices others have received. Previous post indicated $26,200, from Louisville Swoope Honda, has been the lowest. Any confirmations or new info?
If the email was sent to you after the date of your phone authorization / credit card transaction, and you did not agree to the non-refundable clause in writing (email reply or otherwise) or via a phone conversation recorded legally by the dealer, you can easily get your money back by disputing the charge with your credit card company.
I would first call the dealer and tell them you would dispute the charge AND go to the BBB and/or small-claims court if they don't give you a full refund immediately. Also try to escalate it to the dealer's management (e.g., the GM). No dealer wants to go to court or get a bad record at the BBB if they know they will likely lose the dispute by the CC Co's ruling. Good luck!
Plunked down my $500 deposit for Ocean Mist EX-L w/ Navi/RES at Bedard Bros. and returned signed purchase order by fax ... they estimate I'll get it by mid- to late January.
According to purchase order: $32,113 (includes destination charge) $50 documentation fee
Lowest quote via Internet from six D.C. area dealers was $2K higher; three congratulated me on getting such a good deal.
Read a post on another forum that someone found $500 over invoice at a Virginia dealer, but I'm not kicking myself too hard. The Bedard Internet salespeople (dealt with three, including sales manager) were extremely helpful in working with an out-of-stater and explaining the process.
Will post more when/after I get the van ... Thanks to everyone on this forum, and to Edmunds, for all the help!
First posting, congratulations to all forum members for professional/informative postings. Paid MSRP for my 2000 Ody, thanks to this forum I will be able to negotiate a much better price on a 05 EXL RES/NAV. We recently traveled to Florida and stopped at several Honda dealers down & back to see an Ocean Mist model. No luck, but would like to share the following: Tampa FLA Hondaland- Phoned (from 40 miles away) to ask if they had an Ocean Mist in stock. After several minutes on hold the salesman replied "yes we do". I said that we would be there in an hour. Arrived to be told that the Ocean Mist had been delivered to a customer that morning, but they could order one for us. I would certainly avoid this bait & switch dealer! Other stops: Sunny Honda, Valdosta GA-MSRP. Rusty Wallace Honda, Knoxville TN $1800 over invoice. Honda East Columbus OH-MSRP. Hinderer Honda, Heath OH-MSRP.
there is an Ocean Mist sitting in the showroom at a dealer near me (NJ). They also finally got in a slate green, so we have now seen the entire selection of colors.
The OM was nice, but in certain light, it was a lighter shade than we liked (almost robins egg). But, from other angles, it was a nice steel blue. If we had been in a position to have to buy that day, we probably would have settled for it, since it was the right model.
After seeing all the colors, my wife decided that she liked the sage brush the best, although it was probably a little darker than she really wanted. The slate wasn't that exciting in person, but not too bad.
We did see the Olive interior, and will definitely go that way. Ivory is too light (and clashes with the dash). The gray is OK, but the Olive just looks richer, and matches well with SBP.
I am also getting ready to place an order with Bedard Bros., and would like to know the location of the dealer offering $500.00 over invoice. I am located in Raleigh, NC and Virginia is much closer than Massachusetts.
are they indicating (Bedards) that the 500 is refundable? I bet (and they know) that many of these 3+ months deals won't go through, if people find reasonable deals close to home after new years, trades come into play, etc.
Not really any lose to them. Every one of these orders that falls apart just means they have something in stock to sell.
I too, am trying to find the best deal on an EX. So far, dealers (in MA) are quoting MSRP. I've been reading all the Bedard Bros. mail. Most of the postings seem to be on the Touring model. Does anyone know if Bedard or another MA dealer is willing to negotiate on an EX?
Bedard Brothers is totally over whelmed with all the orders and is now saying that they will sell the ODYS at 950 UNDER MSRP. They are willing to sell instock PILOTS for 750 over INVOICE.
Lets hope that internet access has brought the prices to a more reasonable level to all customers.
Well, I just got off the phone with the bedard honda everyone is getting $950 over invoice for. Seems they have now decided to change that due to overwhelming demand. Now it is $950 below MSRP. Sorry guys. I was hoping to get that quote to use it to shop around locally.
I just placed my order Thurs night and received the purchase agreement this morning, I got the $950 over invoice. I signed it and faxed it back to them and then sent the $500 deposit. I'm hoping they will honor the purchase agreement they sent me.
Can't personally vouch for this, but this is the dealer from another forum that was said to have offered $500 over invoice, plus $199 doc fee: Duncan Honda in Christiansburg, near Roanoke. It was noted that they may not do this for future customers, but what the heck, try anyway ... anything's better than MRSP!
What is the latest market price for a Touring with NAV and RES(DVD)? I shopped around two months ago and decided that the prices were just too damn high.
Now that I waited for a while, have the prices on Tourings come down a bit?
I was told back then every dealer pretty much got the same number of models. As such, those catering to more affluent demographics (in northern and western suburbs, for example) were selling out their Touring allotments very quickly while those serving less affluent customers were not selling as many Tourings as those in the 'burbs.
I took my '05 EXL in because there is a whistling noise from the front windshield. I also noticed that there is a slight grinding noise when the van shifts from first to second gear when driving slowly. The service manager is telling me that is normal and just the ABS cycling, We test drive a new touring and it made a similar noise once. Anyone else experience this?
I was just at DCH Academy on Thursday. The best price was $1,000 off for a plain touring, anything with RES/NAV was at MSRP. Told them the deal I was offered by Bedard and they let me walk right out the door.
I believe the pricing of Bedard Bros has helped with the pricing and competition. I'd been emailing internet salesmen for the past two months and never received an offer greater than $1K off MSRP. Called Bedard and was told I'd get the $950 over invoice deal, however, they were out of vehicles and would call me back. Glad I went shopping today. Didn't realize the deal would end.
Decided to visit the dealership I checked on 22 Sep who was charging $1500 over MSRP due to a dealer added appearance package. Here's the catch the package only includes wheel locks, splash guards, fender and door edge trim and pinstriping. I'm not the smartest guy, but I know a rip-off when I see it. Anywaway decided to see if the dealer would be willing to deal today. I had contacted their internet salesman before and never received any competitive offers. Decided to hit the showroom today armed with my best offers and the Bedard Bros deal. I came in with the resolution of recieving $1500 off MSRP. Figured this would equalize the monies I would have to spend either traveling to MA or shipping a vehicle from MA if I went with Bedard. Additionally I figured in the free oil changes most local dealers include with new car purchases. Haggled for a little bit on an EXL-DVD/RES and finally received a quote of $32.7K plus tax, tags and freight for the van (this price includes the dealer added accessories which were thrown in). Actually during the process I never recognized the appearance package as a legitimate cost, never waivered. I think this is probably the best deal I will receive in the near future. This price was without a trade. I decided to ask the dealer to allow me to put a deposit on the vehicle with the intent to close the deal tommorrow. Although I know the price was good, I hate to purchase on the same day I agree upon a price. Just my method of refusing to succumb to the high pressure sales tactics.
Hate paying so much for a minivan, but it appears I have no alternative unless I want to wait another 6 months in hopes of getting a better deal.
I'll post the dealer info after I complete the transaction tommorrow. Don't want to jinx what I was able to accomplish today.
Alright, after following this board for about 2 weeks, I placed a $500 deposit on a Silver Pearl EXL-RES yesterday. It is being built Dec 1'st and scheduled to be delivered mid Dec. Thanks to you and especially KVM for posting his deal from the Pocatello ID dealership. I referred to KVM's post and received the same deal after one email and one phone conversation. The deal is this: $1700 below MSRP $149 doc fee $5 temp permit. I did some checking in the Seattle area, where I live, and no dealer could even come close. One dealer gave me the impression that he had really quoted me a very good deal for $1700 OVER MSRP. Once I told him about the deal from ID, he said I should go buy it - I did. The only downside is getting the van after it arrives in Pocatello. After factoring the 1.5 days it will take me plus misc' expenses ($250 one way airplane ticket.)to fly there and drive back, I decided to have it transported. The dealership found a transporter for $600 which is better than the prices I was quoted from independent transporters. Thanks everyone.

I should stop reading this forum but I am curious about OTD prices.
