Sunroof is standard on the EX-L.
After being given the run around and MSRP by all the local Boston dealers I found out about Bedard Brothers on this board. I was lucky enough to send in my deposit and get the above vehicle for the $950 above invoice (savings of approx $3300 over local dealers) My wife and I were astounded at the arrogance of local dealers and while we would have paid a little more (mabey $1000) in no way were we going to be taken over the coals. I do not know if it is because of the limited production but it almost felt like collusion was taking place, although is seems as if some cracks in the armour are appearing.
Okay, enough about the bad stuff, lets talk about the good! Bedard Brothers was up front, honest, and a pleasure to deal with. While they not be giving this deal anymore I would check to see what they are offering. We even had them overnight the DVD and with the money we saved took a limo and watched it on the way to picking up the van.
We got a midnight blue touring with the grey leather. The color is awesome and the neighbors even commented on the attractive new design and color. We are a bit overwhelmed with all the features but i am going to try and read the manual for an hour a day to get the most out of everything. Also purchased splash guards, wheel locks (never know if those $500 pax tires/wheel become the favorite of bandits), cargo tray, and cargo board. This is our first honda and we are looking forward to a long and enjoyable ride!!!
I did a email blast to local dealers here in the Bay Area. Here's the deal I'm getting:
2005 Honda Odessey EX-cloth
Cost: $26,000 + $515 (destincation) + tax/fees.
Do people here think this is a good price to buy?
Thanks to all.
I'm glad things went well with Bedard Bros. I'm having a hard time getting anyone to respond to my email there. Should I just call them and tell them what I am looking for and state how much I will pay? I want to believe that these people are everything that I have read about on this board.
Thanks
The best offer I got so far is 1000 off of MSRP.
Is this best price in NW area?
Does anybody has a goooood deal yet?
Where is NC this dealer .Give us some idea.
Place must have grown since I was last through there!
I got my EX-Cloth in Virginia (outside Washington, DC) at $500 over invoice the last day of November.
Your sale could put some salesman over the top for his monthly or year-end bonus!
Goes to show if the motivation/incentive exists, they'll find a way to accommodate you.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Do not be afraid to leave message for sales manager as I stated earlier to you.
The difference from $500 over invoice and $1000 off MSRP is $1500 or so.
My guess if you wait you will get it at your price.
Have your tried Jay's. My gut you can get Jays for $300 over plus a free ($400 value) internet special package. I not sure what value it really has. I say $300 over since they sell pilots for $300 over.
My experience at Park was excelent. No high sales pitch on extra's. They ask if I wanted the warrenty I said no and that was it. The girl upfront did forgrt to page the salesman and I had to wait 50 minutes. So they pushed the paper work through quicker.
p.s. I wonder if Park is reading this board.
I was flexible on color, but they happened to have my first choice of color coming in on their allocation.
I have not actually driven the van myself yet (I'd go take it for a spin right now if it were not snowing... Don't want to get the nice detail job they did all messed up with wet roads :-) ). This van is for my wife to cart our 3 kids around in. We wanted an 8 seater with leather and dual power doors. Those requirements ruled out both the touring and the Sienna. Made our buying decision easier to narrow down to the EXL.
My wife drove the van back from Colorado Springs. I asked her about noise and seat comfort. RE: noise, she said she didn't notice unussual wind noise, but did think that "outside road noise" was somewhat higher than she expected. She drove behind a loud motor cycle for part of the way and thought it was louder than it should be. Maybe these vans are not sound insulated all that well?
RE: seat comfort, she hasn't messed with the seat enough to know yet. She drove back at night in a strange car that she was not used to (and she doesn't do a lot of long driving, I usually do that), so she was stressed a bit after getting home. She attributed it more to the unfamiliar car than the seat itself.
December is a slow month and things will only get slower as the end of the month approaches. I'll bet good deals will come to those shopping in December. Not to mention that the sales tax rate goes up Jan 1 here in Colorado.
The kids LOVE the RES!
I would recommend Team Honda in Colorado Springs to anyone. Our sales person spent at least an hour with us showing us every nook and crany of the vehicle before we drove it off the lot. No high pressure anything in the finance office, everything was as they said it would be.
Could you tell me which dealer gave you this price? thank you!
I love this forum because it's so informative (this is probably because of the excellent participation). Anyways, I posted somewhere here on Edmunds on what vehicle I should get given my situation with towing, baby on the way, etc. Well, I don't have to worry about the towing capacity anymore (dead issue). I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Highlander or Odyssey. I like the Highlander because it's fuel efficient plus the 3rd row is pretty decent since the 2nd row moves back and forth which allows ease of entry to the 3rd row. Of course, I like the Odyssey, but I am having some difficulty getting a good price on one (either EX-cloth or EX-L RES). Dealers in Souther California (especially in the Los Angeles area) are offering about $500 off of MSRP.
Currently, it' me and my wife and 20 months son. Our next baby is due June of next year. I really want a car now (I have no patience), but my wife wants to wait until June of next year. Plus, we have the debate of Highlander vs Odyssey. I know Highlander prices are pretty good since it's not a new shape, but will Odyssey prices go down by June of next year? Also, what's recommended, Highlander or Odyssey given my situation?
I've seen a lot of good negotiating ideas on this site. One is negotiating from invoice instead of MSRP. Another is multiple dealers. E-Mail benefits you. We bought 3 weeks ago and are still getting voice messages from other dealers talking about getting extremely aggressive on price. Having time on your side is good also. Pick a price you are happy with and stick to it. It may take a couple weeks/months but it can be done.
My apologies for my longwindedness. (nice word)
The Sienna was offered at invoice+ $1615 (xle with package 7).
The wife had a horrible time getting the 3rd row to fold away easily in the Sienna, Odyssey it was a breeze. She does have a back injury, I had no problem, but it might be a serious deal consideration for us.
I think both vehicles are pretty sharp, my first mini van purchase. I'm losing my E320 to make this move, a reverse mid life crisis I guess.
Toyota wants to hit me with a $562 TDA fee.
Does Honda have any similar surprises for me?
Should I venture out of the larger cities to find a lower price, or is it still a function of time on the Odyssey? Any reccomendations in the Northwest?

I am in the same boat in Portland Metro area and am finding it extrememly difficult to get anyone below MSRP for EXL. Thomason today offered to beat any quote which means I can get about 28500 for EXL (which was a quote from a dealer 100 miles far). Anyone was able to do better than that?
As far as Siennas go, we are finding it the same; but haven't spend much time shopping for that. Our choice looks like is going to be Odyssey EXL. I think we will wait till the prices start dropping to about $300-400 above invoice. Any suggestions.

PS. I have emailed at least 20 honda dealers in OR and WA area, but no luck so far.
Also, not sure if I will be sending individuals emails to dealers or utilize one or several of "web search" services. Any recommendations?
The best way is to ask the dealer for the Model ID and color code of the car. For example an 04 EX-L white exterior/fern interior, would code to:
RL1894PKW color: WH/FE. I ask for the model ID because I know what colorways the Odyssey is offered in from the brochure, and I don't want to be fooled by a dealer saying it has a colorway that doesn't even exist.
It sure seems the leather olive interior is hard to find. My dealer says it won't see another one until late February. Probably because it is offered in only two models, the EX-L and Touring, and with only two exterior colors.
I suggest that you telephone the Bedard Bros sales manager directly. When I spoke to him we agreed to $950 over invoice. I drove in from out of state to arrange the deal. I ordered a EX/L w/res/nav in the color of my choice. It was a pleasure to deal with him and the salesperson assigned. This is for a March delivery. However, I'm in no rush. The only additional charge was $50 for documents and state tax.
Pity the fool that buys that one.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
I am in the Salem area and would be curious to know from which dealer you received the $28,500 quote for the EXL?
Thanks,
larryh
I have about 500 miles on my Touring NAV so far, and I have not been having any back pain at all. Perhaps I was hyper-sensitive to the issue initially because of what I had read here, or perhaps I just needed to get used to it a little.
My wife has not made any complaints about discomfort in the front passenger seat. I purposely have not said anything to here about possible back pain problems with the '05 Odyssey so as not to bias any comments she might have.

Good Luck - Sorry for the long post.
If you are going to walk from the deal, at least have the courtesy of notifying the dealer before he trades.
