thanks
They basically said they couldn't do much better than MSRP minus "a few hundred dollars" for an EX-L NAV/RES. If I'm willing to drop the NAV requirement, the price would be closer to invoice + $1000 or so (we weren't actually haggling -- I was just trying to get a feel for how far apart we'd be).
At this point I'm probably going to start shopping around (e.g. via the internet), possibly looking at neighboring states / outside of the DFW area. For some reason I really *want* to have the NAV (I certainly don't *need* it though ) but I'm not sure how easy it will be to get a hold of one...

Thanks in advance - feel free to e-mail directly.
I am also planning to buy an LX and not sure what the right price is since most of the post here are for EX. It appears you got a good deal. What are the add ons you have on your vehicle.
I would appreciate if you can send me the buyers order since the dealers here in AZ need that in order to match the price.
I can provide my email if you are planning to send.
Thanks

Did you get the extended warranty?
Thanks
Anderson Honda has been calling me ever since I took a test drive last Sept when the car just came out. I have been getting words from sales person from "$1000 below MSRP" to "$1500 over invoice" for an EX - cloth. I will wait for a while and hope to see price drop down.
here are my arguments for each:
EX-L: Low cost, lower demand than DVD/Res = lower price, can easily add a $800 sony DVD. This one can be got at Invoice
EX-L: high demand vehicle, Invoice+1000
pros: factory DVD (add ext. warranty for a 7 year warranty on this item)
cons: cannot play DVD-R that I tried.
EX-L DVD/NAV: price is high for NAV but includes bonus XM capability, better speakers and rear view camera
I am leaning towards either EX-L and add Sony or
EX-L DVD/NAV and go all out.
Thanks
Raj
Although I had a harder time justifying the price jump to a Touring from an EX-L than the cost of the R&N package, I eventually did buy a Touring R&N and have no regrets. Other than some of the interior trim, it does feel like a higher line, more integrated vehicle and, at least to me, drives better.
Bear in mind, though, that its residual is less (as is generally true with any top of the line model) so you will truly pay for the extras.
The Internet Manager was VERY professional, courteous and dependable. My problem was how to do a deal with a dealer over 400 miles away, and yet trade in my 1999 EX. I was not willing to drive there and haggle over trade in value, a sore point in my 1999 EX deal elsewhere.
What happened was great! I wanted to get KBB trade in, Good condition, for my EX. After taking my VIN, they agreed on that KBB value! I was willing to go over $1000 over invoice for the hard-to-get Touring N&R, partly based on 2005Odyssey’s $1000 over invoice for a EX-L. We then agreed on a price, including their $249 document fee, of about $1150 over invoice, and DELIVERED free to my door over 400 miles away!
We agreed on the deal on Jan. 31, but I had to wait for three weeks for our color choice from the factory. In the meantime, Honda announced their price increase and it did show up on our sticker. To their credit, the dealer never brought up the price increase.
We received delivery last Friday, went over the vehicle operation with the driver, took a test drive, inspected for a number of quality items including a few options ordered, and signed the papers at our dining room table. The driver swapped plates and left in our trade in. The driver was knowledgeable and very pleasant.
I never thought you could trade in a vehicle for a fixed, fair value without the dealer inspecting it, but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.
My price from the local Honda dealer would have been about $4000 higher, and I didn’t even have to even leave home to do this deal. If you live in FL, you are making a big mistake by not talking with these folks.
see message 8866. (yes it does)
eta, hmb1, aabb,
Definitely get the NAV, or as aabb says, "go all out." I love the NAV in my EX-L RES/NAV. XM is great (although it's totally personal taste; my wife, who wanted it, is not thrilled with it); touchscreen control of radio, XM, audio, RES, and NAV all on front screen is great, as is voice activation for nav, audio, DVD, and climate control; all very well integrated. Oh yeah, the NAV system is very cool, with restaurants, Zagat ratings, etc. etc. If you are even considering a NAV, you will have no regrets going for Honda's integrated system.
Just review prior posts here, and I am confident you will find a Nav model for a roughly similar price in relation to invoice as the other trim lines, except for touring, where you'll have to work a little harder. (see ccompson's info)
I had a terrific experience with Classic in Streetsboro, OH, and I know they have had buyers have vehicles shipped as far away as Calif. See my post 8389.
What do you mean by "better speakers"? According to Honda literature, that model (I have one) as same speaker system as all other EX models.
FYI when I shopped end of Dec, that trim was available and heavily discounted, often much more than EX-L w/DVD (with or w/o NAV); I got the sense from dealers that it was a poor stepchild that wasn't selling well and they wanted to get rid of it.
My personal view on touring is expressed in the next post.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Honda marketing department for the brilliant idea of charging an extra $4,200 MSRP for the privilege of having one less seat. (I.e., touring has no plus one seat.) I can't imagine the production cost would have increased very much at all had Honda outfitted the touring with the lone seat belt, coming out of the roof, std. on the EX, whose absence prevents the touring from being an 8-passenger. The vehicle already accommodates the plusone seat on the floor; Honda would not have gone out of business had they offered the plusone as an option. One dealer even offered to swap one for the touring console, but...no seat belt for the 8th passenger. For me, the lack of that seat tilted the balance to the EX-L RES/NAV.
And if Honda really wanted to cater to empty nesters, why did they not offer the Nav w/o the DVD, as an empty-nest poster previously noted? (Empty nesters are less likely to have DVD-watching passengers, according to the poster.)
Some people somewhere are getting paid a lot of money to make these consumer friendly decisions.
$30,000 including all fees except - tx/tag/ttt.
Atlanta market is very tough, I was holding out for invoice but no luck and ran out of patience.
Used Curry Honda's Internet Sales. Feel free to email me with more details and list of dealer's in the Southeast and their quotes.

What was the best price you found in DFW? I've received local pricing that is $1500 away from the one in Tyler, but it has addons that I can't get rid of (wheel locks, cargo tray, mud guards, pinstripe, and vin etch - which are not bad...but I wouldn't have chosen them).
Anyone know the invoice price of those items?
Thanks to everyone on this forum - I wouldn't have even gotten this type of pricing if it weren't for this forum. I think the main items on the Touring that make a different to me are the power tailgate and moveable pedals (sounds lame, but comfort makes a difference for me).
FYI for any DFW Ody EX buyers out there - David McDavid of Frisco offered us $25998 + TTL and doc fees for an in-stock EX (no add-ons). We were not negotiating at the time since we wanted an LX in a color they couldn't get, but I just wanted to put that out there to help anyone who might be buying an EX. (This was before the price increase but you should be able to get that price or better on any EX that was on the lot before the increase.)
Question: I going to place an order w/H&A Accessories (above banner) for the cross bar (goes on top rack) and the all season mats and a cargo mat (don't know if the cargo mat is all season?). Are there any other accessories I should consider that are helpful/most popular? Also should I Scotch Guard the interior carpet myself (we did not get any interior/exterior protective coating). We got a silver pearl exterior/gray interior.
What about license plate frames? The dealer ones that came w/it seem plastic and flimsy & of course are an ad for the dealer, tho we were very happy w/the dealer . . . any suggestions? (Chrome or stainless or other we should look at getting??)
Thanks - this forum has been tremendously helpful along the Ody buying path.
Thanks.
The cargo tray is a good idea. It fits in the well behind the third seat. Didn't have such a mat in our '99 Odyssey and the carpet got stained and dirty over time.
Sorry, I never price dfw. I priced Waco, Austin, Houston, College Station and Tyler.

We chose the Taffeta White. It was our 2nd choice color. Our first choice was sage brush. After about 2weeks of trying trade on the locater for the sage brush with no luck they had a white one coming in anyway so we are taking that one.

The other accessories we added my husband picked - leather steering wheel wrap and bra (since he gave up a sports car for the minivan, it was the last vestige of sportiness).
I bought all from H&A.
Thanks
I look forward to being able to share the dealer info this weekend, and might even be persuaded to email/fax a copy of my signed sales offer for those needing a little negotiating leverage in the southeast area. Check my profile for my email address.
Does anybody know what exactly the doc and license fees are? Also, is the tax calculated on price + destination, or just the price?
I plan to respond to the quotes by itemizing the costs, which clearly the dealers are not willing to do.
Thanks!
Andrew
After some going back and forth I put down a deposit with Bankston Honda today for basically invoice plus $867. Without options, my walkout price would have been 34542.99. I ended up adding the 3rd row sunscreen, fog lights, dealer tint giving me a final walkout price of $35249.99. This breaks down roughly as:
invoice 30848.00 (EX-L NAV/RES)
markup 866.83
sunscreen 209.00
fog lights 299.00
tint 200.00
D&H 515.00
price 32937.83
tax 2126.36
fees 185.80
total 35249.99
(The exact price for the options probably isn't accurate -- all I really know is what they made the final price add up to).
From what I can tell this is about $2581 below MSRP (using the builder option at www.honda.com and assuming $200 for the tint).
Of course, I don't actually have a vehicle in hand yet but they feel that they should be able to get one within a few weeks.
Last week the same dealer was saying they couldn't do better than "MSRP minus a few hundred dollars" because the Odysseys with NAV were so hard to come by.

You requested a Price Quote on a Silver Pearl 2005 Honda Odyssey EX, gray leather w/DVD. This vehicle is availabe . The MSRP for this vehicle is $31,895.00 . I'm pleased to offer you our McDavid Internet "no hassle" price quote of $29,470.00. I believe that you will discover that this price is extremely competitive with the rest of the DFW metro dealerships.*
Unless your price included taxes etc., it seems like they're asking well over MSRP in Guam.
ETA
If you can get the $29470 price when you get back to the states, even with D&H of $515, your total would be 31859 (with the 6.25% tax) plus $225 or so for licensing etc. for a total of $32084.
And, I suspect that some people might be doing even better than this. If you check earlier in this thread there may be examples for the specific area where you'll be moving.
Good luck!
