Because everybody's idea of "invoice" price is different. Invoice can vary by several thousand dollars. Are you including holdback, rebates, leasing, the list goes on and on.
Actual out the door price before TT&L, is much more informative to the casual shopper using these forums to find target prices, IMHO.
Not picking on you, but can you tell me how invoice can be vary? All cars in the US should have the same invoice number given the same features, years, models, options... For a better comparison, I believe given a number above/below invoice is the easiest way to figure out if the deal is good/bad. By the way, invoice prices have absolutely nothing to do with incentives or rebates, unless your definition of invoice is defferent. How about some examples.
1. I bought a car (05 G35 coupe ) yesterday for $35,202 +ttl. Is that a good deal? You will need more info to deteremine if it is/not.
2. Sam bought a 05 G35 sedan for invoice -$1000 today. From this purchase, I know the owner did not overpaid.
if you want a g35x, i doubt anyone sell too far under invoice. Still waiting on incentives. The good deals only on non-AWD versions (I dont know why you would want the regular g35, but thats just me)
I didn't feel picked on I guess I just feel that some of the below invoice price claims are slightly exaggerated. Too many deals are done with over inflated trade-in numbers as part of the calculation of selling price.
If the above statement is true, than I suppose posting the selling price based from the same data points is no less accurate than the old "below invoice" method
I guess what I am saying is that some claims of X below invoice are a little unbelievable :surprise:

Price was 2% over the invoice price ( the ones i posted above). Also got the 2% deal for an 06 6MT btw. The dealer threw in free tints as well. They said to expect delivery in 30-45 days.
Since the fourm is "Buying Experiences"....would you be so kind as to detail the purchase? Did you use a buying service, battle it out in the showroom, etc.? It would seem that 2% over invoice is pretty good for new `06 models. Did you find that certain option combinations were not available, or certain colors, so early in the model year? Thanks.
I'm pricing the G35, and considering the AWD model. MSRP is $33,710 Invoice is $31,052. How much should I exepect to pay? Edmunds says expect to pay the full MSRP. That's a dealer profit of $2,660 BEFORE the holdback!!!! (FYI-- located in Boston area) All advice is appreciated
Is it an 06 or 05?? If its an 05 then you are overpaying! You should get it below invoice at this time of the year. If its an 06 then yes expect to pay near or full msrp

Sorry, was in a hurry didnt post the entire story lol. To answer your questions, no I didnt use a buying service. I only visited one showroom physically, that too only to sign the order.I ordered my car, so they are building it with the exact options I want. I have been looking for a new car since March, and was settled on the G35, but decided to hold out to see the changes on the 06. Sure enough I loved the 06 and I am glad I waited. In the mean time, I was on one of the G35 enthusiast website ( dont know if I cant mention it here, but if you are a G35driver its a must visit) I rounded up 3 other guys who wanted to buy an 06, then called up dealers and told them to give me a good price for a 4 car sale. I dont think you are going to get any significant discount for a single purchase on the 06 since most dealerships dont even have them yet, ( I know of one dallas dealership who has it to be displayed at the state fair this week). But if you are in or near Texas, highly rcommend Sewell Infniti in Dallas.
I bought in suburb of Atlanta from a dealer that claims to be in top 25. http://www.infinitiofgwinnett.com/ I figured about $1,000.00 over. Are you or your company a VPP associate? Hello, I am very dissatisfied and concerned about a recent purchase I made of a 05 Infiniti G35 coupe in late April. I have been getting terrible gas mileage with this vehicle, and everytime I start the vehicle, I see that the gas fuel guage drops without even driving the vehicle. At first it was not of concern, I thought it was normal. After talking to other Infiniti owners, I realized I have a serious problem. My vehicle actually died on me TWICE on the road because the gauge was not reading properly. I recently went in for my first oil change and brought up the gas issue, and it was looked at. Turns out, the fuel sensor was "bad" and had to be replaced. The service advisor told me, there was a bulliten out for this problem as well. Why was I not aware of this bulliten? This whole time, for the past 6 months I have owned the car, it has been drinking gas and wasting gas and I was not even aware of it. How would I know this was not normal? Nonetheless, the car was kept overnight and supposedly fixed. I did research to see what exactly was the problem. I found the bulliten which states, " INFINITI G35 COUPE; MAIN FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AVAILABLE SEPARATELY, the main fuel sensor needs to be replaced for any reason" My first question is, what are the signs for this and what does Infiniti mean by "for any reason"? My vehicle for the past 4000 miles has failed to maintain or even come close to the 18/25mpg it is suppose to get. That is a major problem which someone will need to be responsible for. The sensor was replaced last week, and still the car is "DRINKING" gas and giving me poor gas mileage along with the needle falling down to empty like there is no tomorrow. I want to contact Infiniti Headquarters and bring this to their atten and write them a letter, I would like to know what steps I need to take. This is not the first problem I have had with this vehicle, and considering the rights I have with the Lemon Laws of AZ. Regards
Anyone buy a 05 or 06 G35 6MT sedan in the bay area recently? I'm just curious about what people are paying these days for them. With the introduction of the new Lexus IS250/350, seems like people shouldn't have to pay that much more over invoice for the sedan.
Howdy, I have shopped Herb Chambers (very good salesperson), Norwood, Kelly and Quirk. I had each of them at invoice on a lease (invoice may be slightly higher than Edmunds for port fees and regional advertising), so I am sure they would take that on a purchase as well. Do not let them know about your trade, how much you owe, etc. before getting them to agree to a price on the purchase, otherwise they will play the shell game and get it from you on the trade. Car I refer to is 05 G35X with Prem.Pkg. C, Diamond Graphite/Anthracite Hope this helps.
Looking to purchase G35 Coupe 6MT w/ Premium Package in the Bay Area. What would be the ideal time to get the best possible deal. I know Lexus is about to release their IS250 and IS350 in the same price range, and wonder when would be the best time to try to purchase the vehicle for invoice. Is XMAS time really the ideal time to buy a new vehicle?
I really wanted an Infiniti, I have admired them on the road for a long time, and suddenly something happened so that I could afford one- my parents died to be blunt--I went by a couple of times and drove one and came back a second time with my daughter to check the leg room in the back seat. The salesman was enthusiastic, he wrote me two letters and called me once. I was very much inclined to deal with him when I made the mistake of deciding at the last minute to look at the TL- both my girls fell in love immediately and I had to admit that there were some things about it that made more sense than on the Infiniti, although I still think the 35 is the better looking car. So I sent messages to both dealers asking for a price quote. Of course neither will give me one. They will post prices on their dealer web sites, but refuse to either e mail me, or telephone me with same. This is a little peculiar, but so be it. Now the Infiniti salesman is totally incommunicado, after I sent him two faxes last Friday, now that I am ready to act, I hear nothing from him. Is this realy what salesmanship is all about. Wouldnt you think that if a salesman knew he had a serious buyer he would do everything in his power to make that sale? In the meantime with both my original dealers frozen from inaction, I have gone to a new Acura dealer and gotten quotes from them in person without them knowing that I had already been lurking around for a while and was ready to buy. It appears now that I am on the verge of buying the TL. I found the second round much more comfortable, because to the second round of salesman I sounded like much more knowledgeable and experienced buyer than I did to the first set. Nonetheless, I am puzzled that the first Infiniti guy would rather lose a sale, than tell me by phone or return fax what it would cost to buy a 2005 G35.
Deal is @ $32,159 for a '06 G35X, no options (car is pretty well equipped bare imo), MSRP 33,710. Trade-in was $3400 for my wife's camry 98 camry LE w/ 62k miles which needs new struts and about $700-1000 worth of body work to restore scratches and dents.
Is the price on the car decent? I'm not looking for an amazing deal, just don't want to be overpaying.
Here in Tennessee, I'm looking at an '05 6MT Couple with Prem. package, splash guards, and trunk mat. The MSRP is $36,700. I drove the car, and then talked to the salesman. I think that he knew that I had done my homework. He asked me to give him a figure. So, I told him 34,000, (invoice is 33,605) and the sales manager approved it. It seemed too easy. Instead of pushing further, I told him that I would take the weekend to think about it. There is a $660 dealer holdback and a dealer advertising fee (1-3% of MSRP) on this car. Those two items could yield a nice profit for them. I'm having trouble determining what is a fair profit for the dealership. How low should I push?
I checked several sites (carsdirect, edmunds, intellichoice), and none of them indicated any kind of incentive. I just talked to an out-of-state Infiniti dealer on the phone. He agreed to his invoice of 33,4XX; I can't remember the exact amount. Great deal, but he wants $399 for a doc. fee. $50 is fair, not $399. Anyone have success with reduced doc. fees?
I live in the Memphis area and just paid $1000 over invoice for a fully loaded G35 coupe ($40,550 MSRP--paid $37,900). I got it at Infiniti of Memphis. The nearest one with that same exact package was in Atlanta. They also gave me tinted windows with that price. I could have tried for $500 more, but I was really ready to get rid of my 2000 BMW 328CI.
When will dealerships have 2006 model coupes on their lots? I have heard everything from November through January (of course, the salesmen telling me this are trying to get me to go ahead and buy an 05 and not wait for an 06...a bird in the hand theory).
What is the price differential between the 2005s and the 2006s? I know the 06s have some added features (bluetooth, key fob etc.), but I am not sure if they are standard or if they are optional (my guess is that bluetooth is an option) and if these additions have increased the price???
That salesman must be crazy. A friend of mine said the same thing. He only paid $50 for his doc. fees.
Was your G35 a coupe or sedan? 6MT? I don't think that I can get to $1000 under invoice on a black 6MT coupe. (Check my earlier post for a full description) They are few and far between this time of year.
Do you know about any hidden incentives that the dealer receives from Infiniti?
People DO NOT pay over invoice for 2005 G35s, even if its a coupe. Dealers in Houston and Dallas will sell for 500 under invoice easy! If you really want the new features of the 06 then do not listen to the salesmen and buy the 05, since the 2006 models will be in dealerships by end of this month and defnitely by november. Of course the bluetooth, intelligent key etc are options and they cost more and expect to pay sticker or close to sticker for 2006 for the new few months. Or find people in your area who want to buy an 06, to negotiate a fleet price. My 3 friends and I got our 2006 coupes for 500-700$ over invoice through fleet pricing. And DO NOT PAY DOC fees above 50$, actually you dont have to pay any doc fees at all, but who wants to haggle over 50$.
You can get a better deal in larger metro area like Dallas or Houston, because there are more than one dealership in the area, But, in Memphis there is only one dealership, and they do not discount much. My wife's best friend offer to pay cash for a 2005 coupe, but they would only do invoice. She walked away and got a Benz instead.
I talked to the salesman i bought my car from when i stopped by for my first oil change, my car is a sedan by the way. He said there is no incentives on Coupe mt, if you can get it at invoice, ur actually getting pretty good deal even though with 399 doc fee.
I am new to this form, I can get VPP pricing and was not sure the best way to approach the dealer, should I negotiate first and then ask for the VPP price or should I just let them know I can get VPP before hand.
Car I would like is G35 AWD with Premium package what should I attempt to negotiate the price to?
You didnt mention what year?? If its an 05, they are going for less than invoice. VPP is invoice + something. So you are better off negotiating for a price under invoice. If its an 06 then go for VPP. Just mention it to your salesperson. Remember dealers dont HAVE to honor VPP, they can just say no.
I have one dealership down to 33,275 for the 36,700 msrp 6MT Coupe. I'm going to try to wait until November 1st to see if any incentives will be offered. If I can get the price down to 32,700 this week, I will buy. The 05 6MT Coupes will not be around much longer...
Looking to buy 2006 G35 AWD with Premium Package and NAVI in southern california. Infiniti site says it's $39,050 (included $650 destination charge). What would be a good price? Any lease pointers?
just FYI...I hate to haggle and didn't much. I loved the car and the deal seemed fair so I took it. I was also considering the Lexus IS250AWD/350, BMW 325xi and Audi 2.0T.
2005 G35 AWD demo (has 2400 miles on it) Premium Package, trunk mat, splash gaurds and wheel locks

I also took advantage of the 1.99% finance rate (only on the '05s and 3 year term)
No weird dealer fees. Just sales tax, title/transfer fees of $33.50 and $55 doc fee.
Can someone tell me about how sales tax works if you buy a car in a different state? I'm in TN, and looking at a car in NC. My sales tax is 9.25%, but the NC tax is just 3%. Will I be able to pay the NC rate, and not the TN rate?
sorry, I wish that were the case. I live about an hour from Delaware and they have 0% tax! You will have to pay tax when you register it where you live. My friend recently bought a car in NJ but lives in PA, and they charged him the PA tax and registered it in PA for him.
The only take benefit you get is when you turn in a trade. They will tax the value of the new car after reducing the value of the trade. (Although, imo, this isn't really a benefit since you already paid sales tax on the trade-in, you just aren't being taxed for it again!)
hehe, the tax man definitely has his hand in this one
you paid how much? OMG! You should of paid atleast 1500 below invoice for that car!
And for all other buyers of the X, DO NOT PAY ABOVE INVOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you should be able to get 200-300 below invoice for 05 g35x. If they dont, walk away, go to another dealer. These deelers are nothing but scum..
Not sure why you think those dealers are scum - if buyers don't purchase at the higher price, the dealers will eventually lower their prices. That's the way supply & demand works. They're trying to get the highest price and the buyer is trying to get the lowest price (generally speaking). Neither party is "scum;" just trying to get the best deal for themselves.
Also remember that pricing can vary greatly by regional market. While the G35X might be a low-demand vehicle in some areas, it may be a higher-demand vehicle in others.

who is getting the G35x below invoice in snowy areas? I didn't see anyone on here.
Granted, I didn't do a lot of comparisson shopping, but I knew the invoice price of this car and I felt this was a good value since it was sold at invoice.
There were only two '05 AWD sedans left. One was mine and the other was a black with Nav, chrome wheels and gold decals (name, emblems, etc.)....just a little too pimped out for me. This car is hard to find in '05 models.
$33,500 for a car that would cost at least $10k more if it were an Audi, Lexus or BMW...I'll take it. Even Passats cost more. Add to that the outstanding financing rates....wow!
I got a new 2005 G35X with Premium C, Splash Guards, Trunk Mat and Rubber Mats for $33,500. Invoice was $33,952 + 75 for the mats. All prices included dest. of $610.
I'm looking to lease a 06 G35 Coupe 6MT in the next couple of days. MSRP is $37,780 and it includes Premium Package, Aero Package, and Carpet Trunk Mat. I was going to lease it for 42 months with 15k per year. The dealer told me $0 down, but the tax/title and first month payment would be $3,810.47 with monthly payments of $585.42. That seems a little bit high in a way. I went to Infiniti's web site and I put everything in: MSRP $37,780, Term 42 months, Mileage 15k, $0 down payment, and it gave me $549.55. I would owe $1,649.55 due at lease excluding tax/title.
I was wondering if any body could tell me what would be the best monthly payment that I could get and what the residual value would be. I'm also thinking about putting down $3,000 as my down payment. Could you also tell me what my monthly payment would be and the residual value on that as well. I'm going to get my car from a Houston dealership (Southwest Infiniti).

Invoice was $33,952 + 75 for the mats. All prices included dest. of $610.
This was in August, Philadelphia area.
