So, be careful out there and hold the line at or near invoice.
"Thanks for the response. I did some research on the different programs for regions, and I found that there can be thousands of dollars in total price difference state to state! Unfortunately Acura financial will apply whatever incentives based on what state your driver’s license is issued from, in the past we have had buyers from GA who wanted to go to TN or AL to get more incentives. So even if you drove up to PA where that forum said they sell the MDX for that price, you still might have to pay the same price as we sell it for here in GA. The biggest factor here is that the information you have is on a forum where people could post anything they want without proving it. If they said you could buy a new MDX for $1,000 would you believe it? I would use credible sites like Edmunds.com, Kelley blue book.com, or other places that have nothing to gain by spreading false information.
We would love to have you as a customer, but I’m sure you understand that we are a business and it makes no sense to lose over $3,000 on a transaction.
Most dealerships can't sell an MDX for much less than invoice (maybe a few hundred under invoice); but, all can sell you at Invoice with no dealer fees.
That dealer took the truth and twisted it "slightly"...the incentives that he was refering to was those that Acura offer to the buyers and yes those go by state, but I wonder if they (Acura or dealer) will renege on it if the buyer is out of state.hoping ...uhmmm....host?...
Mind you,all I said before is based on my expiriences buying cars for 30 years...yes I am old...lol , if some one knows different please shine in...
Plus, who is going to take a trip, without the deal being done on paper, anyway?
Of course, if you are only using a price from a thousand miles away as leverage with a local dealer... they aren't likely to be too impressed... 99.9% of people won't buy a car out of their local area.

Or, should I really begin negotiations at 18% off? Thank you!
Looking to lease a basic MDX in westchester, NY and been offered $489 p/m with 3,500 down. Invoice at 39,600 vs MSRP 43,000. Is this good? Thanks for the help.
I reside in the SF Bay Area, in California.
The sticker was $ 53000 plus tx ect and I checked around the SF Bay Area by sending emails to all the dealerships asking for their best price and mentioning I was going to buy an RL within two weeks.
Then I sat on it until I started getting emails & a few calls from the dealerships. The best price was from a local dealer (I did not think they would match but they did a little better.) who bid was $ 43500. We negociated down to $ 42500 so I said ok but I wanted them to throw in the add ons on the sticker which they did.
I had previously checked Consumer Rpts estimate (cost =s $15) from them for this vehicle and their cost was $43000. I believe the alledged dearler price was about $ 40567, not sure.
I had a very good friend who was a manager at a bemmer dealer in the Bay Area, and he said they had a margin from about 18 % to about 21 % depending on which model. That was a while ago but I had an idea of the profit stuff. (And I know about the hold back but I was not going to get c.s.
The Acura dealership made a small profit, and I got an excellent price for an excellent vehicle.
They tried to low ball our trade in and my wife of 45 years and I began to walk out and they then gave me the blue book price we wanted.
Drove it home and still own it. We have always love Honda, and I have owned two Acuras before. I will do the same format probably late this year for an MDX, with tech. This will upgrade my wife's 06 Pilot and we can use to tour the USA next when she retires,
Good luck to you and no matter where you live, there will be a dealer, (late in the month) that will be interested. I learned a long time ago not to let the dealer bully me nor try a guilt trip on me either as I worked hard for my money and still do.
Good luck to all and stay safe.

Thanks.

I am searching for a deal on 2010 MDX tech package. So far the lowest quote I have is from a dealer in South California 42900 + tax & fee. I am in San Fran Bay Area and the dealers here are quoting ~43200 - 43500 + tax & fee. After reading posts here, I made an email offer to a local dealer for $ 41700 (his quote was 43300) but he will only match the other dealer's quote. This is the first dealer I have made an offer to. I would like to settle the price if possible ahead of time
Appreciate any advice
I also want to know if I buy in a county where tax is lower than bay area, would I be able to save in taxes or would they charge me for where car will be registered ?
Thanks
Thanks in advance

I sent out about 9 emails to dealers in the Bar Area. I got back about 7 and I sat on them for about 3 days. Over the three days, the dealers sent me lower prices and then I contacted a local dealer in the East Bay and went down and "played the game" of haggling it down to $ 42500 for my 08 RL with tech and nav.
I waited long enough for the dealer's manager to contact me. And over the phone I got my price. He did not like it, but he did it as it was the end of the month and he was flexible now to deal. Its you vs. them (jmo) and my wife and I just kept to our guns and finally my wife said she wanted to go home because they were not going to honor their oral agrement on the phone. They then gave us the price we had bargained for.
I learned a long time ago, from an old friend, Ozzie Davis Jr, that the buyer must stand firm and dont let the salesperson(s) wear you down.
Good luck and I hope you get your price and stay safe.

Would like to know your thoughts on reasons for getting the warranty - anything in particular about the MDX made you wary?

Can you tell me the dealership that gave you this special wonderful offer
