Was told on Fri. that it would probably be another
8 weeks until delivery.

By the way I only have 150 miles on it so far but it has a very smooth ride for a 4x4. I traded a Dodge 1500 2 wheel drive that was just a little smoother.
The reason your friend got his quicker might be any number of things, all listed in previous posts:
1) Your dealer's allocation, ask him about it;
2) Your order priority, set by dealer, but Ford picks up high priority items first, again, ask;
3) Lariat Trim in combo with certain items have slow builds, but you'd have to get your order picked up first;
4) He's yanking your chain, waiting to see how long he'll have to wait before putting your order in.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Call the dealer EVERY DAY, talk to the manager, then the owner. Find out why they havne't ordered your truck yet? Did you put a deposit down? You should get it back until they order your truck.
Good luck,
Ryan
Try to find out how many orders your dealer gets pulled each week. Then try to find out how many orders he has that were placed before yours. Each week, call him on Friday afternoon (orders are pulled Thursday night) to find out if your order was pulled. If not, verify that any orders pulled were placed before yours. A call once or twice a week should make you enough of a pest that he will do what he can to get rid of you.
Ditto what Airwolf said about calling the factory. If you don't have a VIN#, they can't do anything for you. If you do have a VIN#, they can give you status info in a matter of minutes.
best of luck.
I'm enjoying mine going on 3k. lots of people
compliment me on mine.
Thanks to all who have posted such useful information over the past weeks. My experience has generally shown such information regarding order priority, allocations and such has been right on the money.
The best way to insure quick acknowledgement of your ordered truck is to use a dealer that does reasonable volume for what you want. In other words, they sell of lot of the model you're ordering, whether it's a car, minivan, or class 3 pickup. A mom-and-pop dealer probably has excellent customer service practices, but will be low on the allocation list. If I was in the market for a Super Duty, I'd probably hit Meadowland Ford here in NJ, because they are a pure truck dealer (no cars) and have pretty good turnaround time.
have not rec'd VID or build date yet. Was told 8-12
weeks when ordered, in Leavenworth, Ks.
You should get a build date in a few more weeks. Good luck on the delivery. Do you do any bird hunting out there? I was in your part of the country last fall and met some of the nicest people in the world! I was on a pheasant and quail hunt from NJ, can't wait to come back to Kansas!!

4X4, Crew Cab, V10, 3.73 with limited slip, on
July 16th. I just received word that my truck
should arrive next week. The dealer claims it
was set at a priority 10 from day 1.
Not much of a hunter in the last twenty-five years, old hunting buddies like to drink to much whiskey on hunting trips. do enjoy fishing & work with many hunters.
Dealers order printout shows priority 15, he's confident will arrive in 8 weeks, has my 97 tacoma as down payment and wainting for 94 suburban as 2nd trade.
paid invoice and got respectable trade allowances, 2nd truck i've bought from him, he's the fleet sales mngr and been there for over 35 yrs.
He's also right about paying more for quicker service. Dealers have an incentive to assign higher priorities to vehicles that make more money. If you can determine the number of orders currently placed at a dealership and the average number of orders pulled each week, you can pretty much guestimate delivery dates.
at that point, you have to decide if the extra time is worth the money you save.
In the end, I saved $1,000. My wait was at least twice the wait of most people I know in locally. For me, the wait was worth it. If the savings had been under $500, I would have bought local. Local service wasn't really that big of deal for me because I'm moving out of this state in January.
Still, I had a minor warranty issue with my truck. One of the few things I didn't check when I picked it up were the window shield wipers. The switch was bad. The dealer around the corner had no problem fixing it and did it quickly and without complaint. No doubt, before I hit the road in January, my truck heads to his shop for a good check over before the long road trip. That's based on his positive attitude and no griping that I didn't buy it at his dealership.
The dealer still gets paid via reimbursement, although it's a little less than the normal fee. The guys in the service department get paid the same, regardless of whether it's warranty or not. I like the idea of establishing a relationship with the local service department. Was it Rich that mentioned a case of beer is a nice tip? One of the first things I plan to do when I get back to Alaska is take my truck to the local Ford dealer for a service checkup and to start building a relationship with that service department.
jwpl,
Is there such a thing as too much whiskey on a fishing trip?
thats a negative on the fishing & whiskey, I just didnt like mixing it with firearms, too many close calls and bad judgement decisions. not nearly as scared of drowning or flying hooks!
Anyway, the last few days I was trying to call Gwen during the day and would get a ringing phone and what appeared to be a broken answering machine. I thought I would try at about 6PM and what do you know? A guy answered and checked my status for me. I never tried calling in the evening because I figured that they only worked that job for the day shift. My dealer is abso-freaking-lutely WORTHLESS. They have NEVER returned my calls, I always had to call them back, and even then they never had any information. If it wasn't for this list giving the phone number, I would have no idea what the status of my truck is. After I sign the final papers on my truck, I am going to tell the sales manager how worthless they are and tell him if he doesn't give me a free bed liner, I am going to complain to Ford about their terrible service, and post on every internet forum that has to do about trucks and Super Duties how unhappy I am with them.. Would that be blackmail? I want to thank everyone on this forum for all of the information that I have received.
Ken
If you delivery date is really 11/2, the dealer has a VIN. Maybe he just doesn't know what report to look at to find it. The good news is that I think if the dealer were lying about the delivery date at this point, he would have picked a date farther down the road.
One thing to remember is that the delivery date is the week of delivery, not necessarily the actual date. I believe all build and delivery dates are Mondays, but we know they build and deliver on other days. My truck arrived on a Tuesday, a day after the estimated date.
The amount of time between the build and delivery dates is normal, so I wouldn't worry about that. Cross your fingers and hopefully your truck will be here in less than 10 days. It doesn't sound like you will get any more info out of your dealer, so I'd just plan to call him on 11/2 and 11/3 and 11/4.....
It seems that yoiu are in the same boat I'm in. I would call my dealer and they would tell me that my order was clean and hasd been picked up so I asked for the VIN, they didn't know it. As time went on I paid them a visit personally one afternoon, and asked them about the VIN and if my order had been picked up why couldn't they give it to me. So that sent them scambling to their book and then they finally told me my order had not been picked up.
If you are dealing with the fleet or sales manager they do know what they are doing, so don't let them play dumb on you.
Now I do have a VIN and an ETA of 11/2. So I will expect my truck to be in some time that week ( I think they get deliveries on WED.) That will make it 18 weeks, but I do know that my order was a priority 20 for about 7 weeks. I really can't complain because I am getting the truck for $99 under invoice. ( the dealer matched the price of Isbell ford)
I do have a question.
I was wondering what all the numbers and letters mean in the VIN. So I typed the VIN into the lemon fax (or what ever it is) on Edmund's site and it said it was a cc 4x2 5.4 V8, but I changed my order to the V10. I will be very unhappy if it comes as a v8. Do you think lemon fax is right?

Does anyone know of any technical service advice on shifting problems with 1999 F250?
PSD with the 6 speed until I test drove one. The clucth engauges at just barely above the floor boards making it difficult to shift. I have also heard several complaints on other news groups about the same thing.
If I wait 6 to 8 weeks and do not have a build date or delivery date, I think I will cancel the order and start over at another dealer. I am using one in a small town who say that I should receive my truk around Jan. Seem like a long time to wait. I know that I only ordered it a coupel of weeks ago. Lets see what happend.
6-8 weeks is about the fastest anyone is getting their trucks. A 12 week wait would not be out of the ordinary.
The order was originally placed on March 25 so the delivery will be 8 months from order. F350, SRW, 4x4, Lariat, CC, LWB, V10, 3.73LS, Camper pkg, tow pkg, block heater, CD player, Auto trans, manual locking hubs, light prarie tan metallic.
I think I get the record for the longest lead time.
If I'm lucky I'll get it before Turkey day and put some miles to Phx. on it to see family.
Next, family and I can drive up to CO to buy a camper. Probably a Lite Craft or Phoenix insulated pop up.
I guess I just better hope I don't get a problem like vibes or bad oil consumption or something.
Greg
I didn't know that that was availabel. However I was told by the dealer that the hubs would disegage when I took the truck out of 4-wheel drive. It is my understanding by this the from wheel would be fee wheeling. have I mad a mistake by not ordering manual locking hubs?
Dealer also mentioned to me that Ford was now backlogged 4 months on the power stroke diesel. This means that the next 4 months supply of diesels are already spoken for.
Keep in mind that I buy many units from this dealer for my company, so I may have been moved up in tje waiting line.
Good luck to all still waiting for their orders to get pulled into Louisville.
PS After owning 5 F150's I may have to change my handle once the Super Duty arrives:-)
Greg
Also, I didn't get the ESOF (Electric Shift On the Fly) because I heard several months ago that they were having problems with it. If I need four wheel drive, I don't want it to fail and leave me stuck in the middle of nowhere. I may also install a limited slip in the front axle some day, and the limited slip works better with manual hubs.
dealers in the Seattle area, we finally ordered our
F-250, V-10, 3.73 LS. At one dealership we were
told that Ford didn't even make the 3.73 LS as an
option in the SD 250's with the V-10! My husband,
(the former GM poster boy) is pleased with our
purchase - we originally wanted a new Silverado
long bed but who knows when they'll get around to
making them. One drive of the V-10 and I was
hooked. Wish it wasn't so high off the ground but
that's what cab steps are for, I guess. One
question - we've only taken a V-10 out on the usual
10 minute test drive. What's the ride REALLY
like? I had a head injury a few years ago and
can't take the really bumpy ride of a pickup.
We'll be towing a 6500 lb. travel trailer. Would
appreciate anyone's remarks/comments on the ride.
We felt like we got a fair deal - we paid $300
over invoice. Kinda weird - we didn't sign a thing
and they didn't ask us to leave a down payment.
All in all a pretty stress free experience
considering we'd been to 9 dealerships before we
found this one. The nice thing is we get to keep
our money in our own county.
This is our first new truck in 8 years of marriage
and the GM poster boy's first Ford!
Looking forward to your responses.
Ryan
I also ordered F250 CC SRW PSD Lariat Camper pkg, TTow pkg, T Hitch Red on 9-29-98, I called Gwen with order number last nite (10-27)and was told there is no build date or vin# yet. Oder is clean, meaning there was no options ordered that were not available. Just hasn't been picked up yet.
I only ordered my truck a couple of weeks ago, don't know how I am going to stand the wait. On the good side the wife is wanting the truck more thatn I am. She is alread calling it her truck. boy it is going to be fund watching her trying to drive a F250 Super duty 4 wheel drive crewcab long wheel base since she is use to driving a dodge minivan. I think I will find a large open fiel for her to train on how to drive a truck this big. Maybe I had better do a little training also since I have been driving the same minivan and my 1965 Lemans conv.
I guess my thinking is a little different on the truck use issue. I can't imagine spending this much on a truck and babying it like a car. I plan to take good care of it and definitely don't plan to abuse it. If I can take an alternative route that will avoid low hanging trees, or other obstacles, I'll do it. But if the only way to the fishing hole requires some off-roading or the potential for a couple of scratches and scrapes, all I can say is, fish on!
I have noticed in the last 3 or 4 weeks that there is not a Super Duty on any lot in my neck of the woods (Southern New England). These trucks are HOT and anything built on spec that hits the lot is gone in a few days! We purchased at work a F550 manual trans last month and I can tell you it is a pure joy to drive. Ford has created one great truck and the diesel is the cat's meow.
but mine will be White over Gold in color.
mine was gonna be white over gold, but i drove in after ordering by phone to get trades appraised and saw a sold f250 sd sc v10 lariat in red and changed the color to red. you made a good choice i have seen that color combination and liked it a lot. a good friend who happened to be an IH truck salesman once told me there are only three colors to buy and that is white, black or red, and you can always pay $100.00 more for the red one because it will always sell first. good luck and keep me up to date.
I originally posted in the F-250 owners about two weeks ago, not two months ago. It was interesting - I'm new to Fords, new to this town hall and assumed that with all these happy Ford owners, one of them would've written back to me to educate me on this expensive purchase we've recently made and are anxiously awaiting. Also, I truly wish to know what the ride is like. Therefore I attempted to post again in the delivery conference thinking that since I am awaiting delivery my post would be better suited here. Didn't mean to strain your eyes to read my post again - I'm serious about learning more about this truck and assumed this was the place to be educated.
I made the mistake of selling my 94 4x4 to the dealer when I ordered my new truck thinking that I would have the new one before the snow flys. Now it looks like I will be driving my old 2 wheel drive beater car through the winter.
He also explained that even thou my truck is priority 10 that it is not buildable because of the hold up's at ford with the Lariat's, CC's and V10's and that a priority 80 that is buildable could be built before mine is. Priorities go up to 99. He said that a 99 will not ever get built and went on to explain why a dealer would use this code. What my dealer is telling me is that if it is not a disel with stick shift it's not going to be built any time soon. That's what he heard from Ford today. I am going to look at that tape just for my own satisfaction.
I would like to know if any other dealers are telling the same story around the country.
Please post it if you have heard any thing like this. I'll let you know if the tape sound legit.
