Anyone know where the best deal in western NY
  • buffalonybuffalony Member Posts: 5
Lia in Williamsville for $500 under MSRP. Fair deal on the trade, too & very low-hassle, low-interest financing.

Ray Laks lowballed me on trade, so didn't want to deal with them. Also: I'm in Northtowns - didn't want to go to W Seneca.

    Didn't try Don Davis.

Does anyone know of any dealers in Metro NYC that are selling the Pilot under MSRP? Seems that the ones I have spoken to are at MSRP with 2 months waiting list or over MSRP with no waiting time.
  • brews1brews1 Member Posts: 40
lease based on MSRP at Brewster Honda in Brewster NY, no dealer add ons only two week wait. Also friend of mine bought an EX-L there at MSRP last month with 2 week wait. I suspect they will deal somewhat on LX but wanted EX so don't know for sure. . Silver with cloth interior. No hassle, salesman Eric was great to deal with.

  • zachary2zachary2 Member Posts: 14
I was recently quoted $400 per month plus tax for a Honda EX-L, 48 months, 12K with only inception costs of $679 (first month, DMV and dealer fees). Is that a good deal?

Anyone have any experiences with the Tampa Bay Honda dealers and any indication of prices. My wife and I are looking at getting a Pilot and would like to hear any experiences in the Tampa Bay Area in Florida
  • nsivansiva Member Posts: 2
I just picked my Honda EX-L with DVd at Brewster honda. I got it $350 below MSRP, when i showed a competing offer, and i had a list of small set of accessories. The salesperson, Lee, got them at dealers cost and threw in one of the accessory for free also. The vehicle came in 2 weeks. These guys are great.

Quoted $1200 under MSRP by two dealers, then $1900 under MSRP by another today...on an EX-L with DVD.

Might be a little bit of a trip, but Bianchi Honda in Erie, PA did a great deal with me this weekend. They quoted me KBB trade-in value 2 months ago when the car was ordered, and honored it this weekend even though KBB had gone down over $600. These guys were honest, friendly, and had the most integrity of any dealer I've run into for a while. I almost didn't buy a Pilot ONLY because of the slimy tactics I encountered by every dealer in my area (2 hours due south of Erie) when trying to purchase my '99 Odyssey. By driving 2 hours north, I saved $3,000 over the best deal I could get locally. I was very concerned about driving all that way, then getting a 'bait and switch' deal put in front of me, but these guys didn't even try to do that. I'll purchase all future Honda automotive products at Bianchi. The sales person I worked with is Michael Donnelly who is a super guy...
Here's there web site www.bianchi-motors.com. Make sure you contact them first via the web as they'll give you some additional discount...

    Rick Case Honda - $31,100

I initially worked through their internet salespeople. Jay Honda came down $500 when I went in to test drive.

    Good luck!

The $30,600 for an EX-L with DVD was for a sandstone or a silver Pilot.
  • jreddyjreddy Member Posts: 3
It is a Silver Metallic, Leather interior with Dvd. Dealer says $32,480, excluding tax+reg+options. Is the price right?? I am in New Jersey. Sugestions are welcome..

Bought a silver EX-L with running boards, wood paneling, rear mud guards, cargo tray, floor mats..
    for $32170 + TTL = $35167

I think I paid about MSRP price. Not such a great deal compared with some of the other deals mentioned here.

Bought Silver EX Pilot Cloth with Mud-guards. Paid $ 27,330 + tax and title. Paid $567 over invoice. Also, got 3.99% financing from Honda during the thanksgiving week. Told sales person (Doug P) bottom line is $500 to $600 over invoice, take-it or leave-it. He called back in 10 minutes said manager will sell you the pilot. Picked up the pilot 4 days later since they had to locate one.

  • zachary2zachary2 Member Posts: 14
Just picked up my Honda EX-L Pilot yesterday. Only had to wait 3 weeks for it. Lease for 48 months, $423.99 per month including tax. 12K per year and total inception fees $678.

    Just bought a 2003 Pilot - EX-L for $500 less than MSRP.
The dealers were fairly intimidating and comparatively not as negotiable.
I also test drove one with Nav, it seems more of an unsafe distraction to me and definitely not worth the 2K addition to the MSRP.
  • maj1maj1 Member Posts: 37
    needacarasap,

Congratulation on your Pilot order, I ordered my silver EX-L with Nav. on Sep. 29th, and the sales person just told me the build day will be Dec. 18th. I might get it on the Dec. 24th as Christmas gift for my wife. I paid $30,714.(MSRP - $2,266) with no DIO. However, I'm thinking adding the Back-up Camera ($1,013) and Fog Lights ($451). How much did you paid for yours?? Does any one have experience with the back-up camera? For the price of 37-inch flat screen TV, is the camera worth it? Any input appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Where did you purchase and how did you negotiate to get $2,266 off MSRP? Can't seem to find anyone in the Balto/D.C. area to do more than MSRP-$1,000.

Well I paid 37k with tax
base price with nav was $32,980
I added Front Guard without the fog light,Running boards and Mud guards
  • needacarasapneedacarasap Member Posts: 6
i called around 10 places befor just going to one of the delears. Because everyone is is going with 32,980 with nav

Don't call them and ask how much they sell.

Call a dealer and ask if he has this and this available right now. If he does, you are in luck. Tell him you want to pay XXXXX amount for it, and you will buy it today for that price. (Be reasonable here, too much off the dealer will hang up before you do) Also let him know, don't bother to call back if he can't meet/beat the price. The key is, they have the car you want (not sold yet) and you are ready to buy.

    #418 of 478 Ordered my Pilot today by boulie145 Nov 04, 2002 (11:20 am)
Well, if you can get there to pickup your Pilot or workout a way to get it delivered, Internet Sales at Friendly Honda of Clinton Township, MI is currently the pricing champion, in my opinion.
I just put down a deposit for a late December arrival with the following deal:
    Pilot EX-L Havasu BLue............29,416.00
    trailer hitch w/tow pkg..............751.00
    auto day/night mirror................313.00
    rearsplash guards......................51.00
    all-season floor mats.................incl.
    Total Price with all equipment...$30,531.00

The best offer I got in So. Cal. was $30,500 with only the auto day/night mirror included.
After visiting the So. Cal. dealer, I think they just lowballed me on the internet price to get my attention. Good luck to everyone else on the Pilot research and purchase.

In addition to my last post. boulie145 had similar deal as I from my referral.
    Good Piloting.

Have you ever consider back-up camera? Good Piloting!!

i live in the nyc area and long ago gave up on finding a good deal in the area. so i expanded my shopping area to anywhere that would give a great price and also ship ( even cheaper if you can drive it home yourself ). my best offers have come from dealers in ohio that can save a ton of cash even with shipping and heck they are even polite. if interested in more details, let me know on this forum.....
  • njswamplandsnjswamplands Member Posts: 1,760
asdf13 you saved me some good money and you will save others tons.

    but their is a story....

i needed both an ex-l pilot and a ex-l odyssey, one now, the other later.

i contacted hidy honda in dayton oh area, internet department, about either one of these at your invoice + 567 price.

they confirmed your price and told me you came in at the end of the month and someone had just cancelled their order and they had to move it and the new going price was invoice + 1500 to invoice + 2000.

still not bad compared to things around here in nyc.

i just banging at them that your $567 was the price needed to close my business. they quickly dropped to $1000 over invoice on either the odyssey ex-l or pilot ex-l. they kept creeping down, giving me some typical stuff that you might experience if you walked in like 'my manager needs to know your serious'. these games really bothered me but i kept pressing on.

they offered invoice + 750, or $26766, for an odyssey ex-l and seemed willing to do something similar on a pilot ex-l, even though it was not the end of the month and the vehicle was not in stock. but i was turned off by crap one usually associates with dealership walk-ins. but used their price to get a better deal from jay honda in cleveland ( see my details in the odyssey prices paid thread ).

for many areas, throw in about $500 or so for shipping, if you cant pick it up, and you saved a ton....

    thanks again asdf13 :-)

My Pilot is due in next week and I know the dealer is going to try and sell me the extended warranty. I did this for my Explorer, but was wondering if the Honda warranty is necessary or worth it.
What is the going rate and do I really need it?

    Thanks.
  • boulie145boulie145 Member Posts: 6
I was thinking of getting the extended warranty at the same time I purchased the car, but then I figured I was paying for the warranty twice. The Pilot comes with a 3yr./36k warranty, so why pay now to extend it. You can go to www.hondawarranty.com and buy the extended warranty anytime within 2 years of purchasing the car. It'll be a better price than the dealer, and you'll actually get most of the extended warranty you're paying for, instead of "wasting" the first three years of the "extended warranty" when you are already covered by the original warranty. Just my thoughts... Anyone else got a different spin on things?

I paid 25600+TTL for my Pilot LX.
    Is it a reasonable deal?
  • sjwsmwsjwsmw Member Posts: 131
Thanks for the info and the website, that would seem to be a good negotiation tool.

Thanks to everyone for all your postings that have helped me learn what is a reasonable purchase price and where. I just bought a Sage Brush/Fern EX off the lot with no extras for $27,899 ($29,635 out the the door with 6% Tax, Canadian Transit fees, etc.) and it was a very pleasant experience. I live in Vermont where prices on Pilots are high and availability is scarce, but before leaving on a visit I decided to check out dealers on the internet in the Detroit MI area and it was well worth it since even after haggling back and forth in Vermont the best price I could get was 2% below MSRP AND I would have had to wait a month or two to take delivery. I worked with Jason at La Fontaine Honda in Inkster, MI (near Detroit) and got exactly what I wanted with no hassle and no gimmicks. I probably could have worked an even better deal somewhere else with more time, but I had done a lot of research and looking for the past two months and I was ready to buy and La Fontaine worked well with me and all the extras required to get the car through Canada and back to Vermont.
  • gearheaddgearheadd Member Posts: 15
    Fresca1,
Didn't understand your post regarding getting the piilot through Canada and payment of Canadian Transit fees. Was this purchased through a Canadian source? and what does that mean for service/warranty?
  • fresca1fresca1 Member Posts: 9
Since I actually purchased the pilot in MI and live in VT, I need temporary "in-transit" license tags that will get me out of MI, through Canada and back into VT (the shortest way home). These cost me $10 and the dealer had to spend a little time for paperwork. Since I didn't actually purchase the car in Canada, the Honda warranty is not affected. BTW, I originally started looking at Hyundai Santa Fes and did look into a Canadian purchase (I live 40 minutes from the border) because they were hard (near impossible last year)to get in VT, but they were all over the place in Canada. However, although it was actually cheaper (even with the import taxes) and easier to buy the Santa Fe in Canada, the standard warranty in Canada for the Santa Fe was 3/36 (not 5/60) so I didn't do it as my warranty would have been only what they had in Canada. Having had trouble finding a Pilot in VT, I also looked into trying to buy a Pilot in Canada, but they seem to be as hard to find and premium priced in many parts of Canada as in VT. I also almost bought a low-milage Toyota Highlander handled by a Canadian auto importer (a little cheaper, standard day time running lights, etc.) where the importer took care of all the paperwork, import taxes, etc., and the rest of the standard 3/36 warranty was guaranteed to coninue just the same as if I had purchased it in the US. But that was all before I discovered the Pilot...
