I have been shopping for a 2006 Pilot, but all of dealerships are very vague about special financing. Edmunds does not report any special financing, so why am I hearing 2.9% for 3 years. Can someone enlighten me?

    Thank you.

I'm looking for a 2WD EX-L in the SouthEast(Alabama,Miss or GA) area. The best offer I've received to date is $29191 + Tax, Title, and Fees of $1401. I'd appreciate any buying experiences in this area

    Thanks
  • wallacekwallacek Member Posts: 4
Wow, $29,191...that is the best price I've seen for an EX-L. I live in coastal Miss, can you tell me the name/address of the dealership that quoted you that price?
    Thanks.

Already put my deal thru, not sure if I got a good deal or not. Hard to compute though.

I had six months left on my 2003 Pilot EX 4WD Cloth No Navi lease. The car had extremely low mileage - only $31K after driving it for 42 months - 12K miles per year. Dealer rolled in (paid for) six remaining payments on the 03 in my lease. Shearer Honda in Vermont.

Absolute zero out of pocket for:
2006 Pilot 4WD Leather with Navi and running boards - $468 per month - 42 months - $12K miles per year...dealer also paid $400 toward my first payment.

I drove the car off with not a penny down.

Anyone else have zero OOP lease payments to compare?

Also, the new 06 Pilot is a dream ride...I am thrilled with it over my 2003 in every possible way. Except for the prestige and a few high tech options, this is a steal compared to an Acura MDX with the same Navi and rear camera....it's $10K less. Acura has a few more horsepower, Bluetooth, memory seats, and Bose stereo. Beyond that it's basically the same car.

Hello, the 2.9% 3 years financing was offered between 12/20/05 to 01/03/06.

I bought this 2006 Honda Pilot EXL.

    MSRP - $31,845.00
    Destination Charge - $550.00

Dealer Added Equip & Services (Total $4,496.91):

    Environmental PP - $995.00
    Tint & Didishield A - $464.00
    Tire Exam Caps - $599.00
    Chrome Bumper Garnish - $423.40
    Cross Bars - $283.12
    Front Grille - $366.60
    Moon Visor - $200.12
Side Steps & Wheel Locks $865.67

    Total Price: $36,891.91

I paid $32000 out the door with 2.9% financing for 3 years w/Honda. This is with Vandergriff Honda in Arlington, TX.

Has anyone in the Denver Metro area gotten a good deal - say invoice or below on a Pilot EX-L. If so, what dealer?

    Thanks.
  • sdpartiersdpartier Member Posts: 2
I got a good deal on a 2005 Pilot EX-L AWD Leather with RES and sidestep bumpers and the Convenience package (Mudflaps, wheel locks & Cargo Tray) Out the door price was $31K. Dealer has a couple of these left from what I've seen.

Wanted to save some money so I decided against the '06 model.

No hassles nothing. Dealer was Diamond Bar Honda in Diamond Bar, CA.

When will Honda have special financing again?
  • dbkellydbkelly Member Posts: 2
Ricklin, thanks for the info. You don't know if the program was extended? Also, did they have a special rate for 60 months as well?

Sorry this didn't work, Sunil. I think you will be able to match the price I got at another dealership. I'd next suggest Honda in Santa Cruz, which was also very straightforward and nice to work with, at about the same price point ($500 vs $400 over invoice) but didn't have nav in stock. I am happier every day with the sophistication of the nav system - currently delighted with the voice calendar and voice activated audio selection. I wouldn't pass up on the nav even if you have a longer wait. I also love the sagebrush, and hope you find one soon (though the steel blue is growing on me daily, and my family loves it). :D

Re: 60 months - it was at 4.9% during the promotional pricing. 48 months was 3.9. I heard from one dealer that there is a surplus of 05 2WD Pilots, and Honda is trying to clear these out to help dealers with getting new stock of 06's. The 4wds, especially with Nav, are getting the higher prices off the lot right now. If the surplus continues, perhaps they'll put the financing in place again. I'd ask a dealer to let you know that the financing came in - that's how I found out and got our rate. I didn't find out until Jan. 2, so there were only a few vehicles left in northern California, and couldn't find the colors that were our first choices, and ultimately drove two hours each way to pick up our vehicle.
    Good luck! :shades:

vandergriff honda where i bought my 06 pilot has plenty of 05s and they were pushing them at me. however, i bought the 06 because they also have plenty of them too and for the price i paid with added extras plus 2.9% financing for 36 months, i think i did good.

also, my pilot has low jack installed too. the saleslady told me that it comes standard on 06 models but i don't see this low jack listed as standard on edmunds.

i'm sure they will have the special financing again soon because there are too many cars on the lots, at least at vandergriff where i bought my pilot anyway.

I seem to get a good prices offered on a Pilot but the dealers want to charge a $699. fee to do all the paperwork. Isn't this outrageous? I bought my Wife's American Minivan and dealer only charged $65. plus registration fee of $35.

I bought an Acura RL a few months ago and dealer added $399. so I got up ready to walk out. He lowered it to $75. and the deal was completed.

What kind of closing costs are other people experiencing on your Pilot purchases. Any feedback will be helpful.

A month ago I puchased my 06 Ex-L with RES
in St. Louis (Stephen Vincel) for $32.5K and the only fee was
    the documentation fee for $69.
  • ricklinricklin Member Posts: 5
my form shows $50 for document fee. but i've never paid attention to document fees anyway. whenever i negotiate, i always give the driveout bottom line price. they then can figure the sales tax, title, etc.
  • jimzopsjimzops Member Posts: 39
How accurate are the selling prices you get here form Edmunds (TMV)
and CarsDirect.com. The selling prices these sites quote
are much higher than those anyone posting here has payed.
Are these bogus selling prices for TMV and CarsDirect.

Special financing is no big deal. Honda should offer incentives instead - that's part of the reason why more people buy Toyotas instead - THE PRICE.
  • sjdriversjdriver Member Posts: 4
Looking for some feedback on actual prices paid in this area. I have received 3 internet price quotes so far, ranging from $29,199 to $29,469, incl. destination, without any negotiation yet. Is $500 below invoice realistic? Also, is there any news of any incentive programs from Honda(i.e. cash back or low APR) in the near future?

A salesperson told me that the 2006 LX 2WD is nearly impossible to locate in Southern California. Does anyone know if that's true or is that just a bunch of BS to try to persuade me to buy an EX?
  • ricklinricklin Member Posts: 5
It's true. Not many Honda dealers here around Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex have LXs. You might get a better deal going with EXs because there are plenty to choose from.

We live in the Atlanta area and we are deciding between the 2WD AND 4WD. The difference in price is about 1,100-dollars. Is 4WD Worth it, safer, handle better? Any thoughts would be appreciated as we are getting close and have a great deal ready to go. thanks
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,265
Since you live in Atlanta, and don't get much winter weather, the 4WD isn't going to do you a lot of good.. Any extra handling prowess is most likely offset by the extra weight.. It will get slightly worse gas mileage..

That said, I would be more worried about re-sale.. Up where I live, a 2WD Pilot would be the kiss of death on re-sale, but that may not be the case in Atlanta...

Maybe someone else from your area can chime in on 2WD re-sale values.. But, I don't see any reason why you would need 4WD..

    regards,

2 WD is fine for Atlanta. The VCM is nice. Just got one on the 6th of the month. Nice vehicle!

I purchased my Pilot from LEHIGH VALLEY HONDA and would recommend you STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. They delivered my NEW PILOT DAMAGED and tried to 'slip' it by me. Upon leaving the lot, I realized there was NO LICENSE PLATE on my vehicle so I had to get out and put one on myself. They didn't even have the right screws for the plate!! What a disaster!!! Unprofessional. And since I could not pick up my vehicle until late on Friday night, noone was available to help me. Everyone was in a rush to 'get out of there' and my sales experience suffered because of it.
This dealership experience cannot extinguish my love for my Pilot though...Great Truck. Best out there hands down! Just find another dealership to deal with.

I've been to a few dealers in the AZ (Phoenix)area and only one had an LX and only LX at that...from what I've seen on 4 lots, LX is not really out there a lot
  • buibui Member Posts: 3
The car has never been registered or sold. It was supposedly used for demo purposes.
It has about 4,200 miles on it already.

I put in an offer for $28,390. This is excluding the extra cost after, such as tax and etc. Is that a good price?

    Thanks!
  • buibui Member Posts: 3
It's EXL-RES - sorry to exclude the most important detail.
  • jasxxjasxx Member Posts: 14
What kind of a deal are you getting? I'm still looling for a good price for a 4WD w/nav. Thank you
  • goodlivinggoodliving Member Posts: 7
$28,390 is not a good price. I just saw an add for the same model for $27,500. But why you want to buy 2005 when you can get 2006 for just a little more $.
I've been looking for 2006 Pilot EX-L 2WD and contacted dealers in my area (Silicon Valley) and earlier today I got 2 good quotes $28,452 and $28,202; including destination charges.
    Good Luck.
  • buibui Member Posts: 3
goodliving - the model you are talking about is EXL-RES, 4WD for 2005? I had already put in an offer and small deposit. Is it still too late to negotiate some more or quit the deal all together? I don't have much time left - schedule to pick up tomorrow. HELP.

    Thanks!
  • goodlivinggoodliving Member Posts: 7
The 2005 model I am talking about is EX-L 4WD. With the addition of the RES I would say you got a so-so deal. 2006 EXL-RES 4WD is around $30k. The difference is ~$1.5k between the 2005 and the 2006. To decide ask yourself the question "is the ~$1.5K a large amount or not to upgrade from 2005 to 2006 ?" Keep in mind the added features the 2006 has. I don't know your situation but for me I will pay a little more and get the 2006.
Good Luck with any decision you make.
  • rpshoprpshop Member Posts: 1
mylake, is your 2006 a 4WD EX-L (leather package)? we are in Monmouth Co and your price beats anything we had gotten. I'll drive to Madison for that price -

What would be considered a good price for a 2006 Pilot 4WD EXL-RES or 4WD EXL in the WDC area? Any advice on negotiating a good price would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got a call today from Ralph Schomp for $31,131.00..includes destination charge and no Dealer handling... Have you come up with anything?
    Good Luck
  • sjdriversjdriver Member Posts: 4
Any numbers yet on the 06 EX-L FWD? I'm shopping for the same vehicle in NJ. Best price so far is $28,650. I'm shooting for $1,000 below invoice...$28,202, incl. destination. Don't know if it's possible but will hold out till I get closer to that number.
  • crocro Member Posts: 9
If you read few pages back, several people (including me in California) got '06 EXL AWD with Navi for UNDER $31,800 (including destination and docs fees).

Since you are in Atlanta, i believe someone got this vehicle in Marrieta, GA for $31,600.
  • mylakemylake Member Posts: 5
    rpshop,

yes it was 4WD EX-L (with leather)for $28900. Joyce Honda in Denvile also offered me 4WD EX-L with Navi for $30900, but they have only one color (desert rock)

Just set up a deal for my dad who bought a 2006 Honda Pilot LX AWD from J.L Freed Honda in Lansdale PA for $25,120.00 which included the 550 destination charge. With PA Tax and tags, out the door price total was $26,750.00. I dealt with the internet sales manager. I e-mailed all the Honda Dealerships and all came back with quotes of 25,999 - 26,400. Everything was easy. Vehicle was in stock. Also received free lifetime PA state inspection, free rear cargo cover as well as first free oil change and discount on parts at the parts dept.

ricklin, I just wanted to make sure when you quoted the price from Vandergriff. The $32000 price you paid..did that also include Taxes, title etc? Was the Pilot a 2WD or 4 WD? I purchased 2000 accord from them, but they were such pain to deal with. How long did you have to negotiate with these guys? Also, did you try David McDavid Honda or Lute Riley Honda? Thanks for you help!

I haven't been able to locate the cost of dealer-installed options (other than the MSRP) for the 06 Pilot EX. I don't want to get a good price on the car before options, only to have the dealer pad the profits once we add on side steps, etc. Can someone point me to a source for this info? Thanks

    Cro,

What dealer did you purchase your 06 AWD EXL/Navi from in California?

Why do they not make one with NAVI and DVD in one? A friend of mine has this combo in her Odyssey.

start by just walking in...recieving a professional demo.....make a PROFITABLE offer on the vehicle....then enjoy your new pilot.
  • briancorrbriancorr Member Posts: 67
I'd suggest using H&A's prices on accessories as a starting point. Then maybe add $50 for "installation".
    http://www.handa-accessories.com/pilot06.html
  • markjennmarkjenn Member Posts: 1,142
$50 is going to be light for many installation costs (e.g., installing the transmission and p/s coolers requires removing the front end of the car). The installation instructions are online and you can get an idea of how difficult it is likely to be to make your own estimate of costs or perhaps even consider DIY.

Ralph Schomp also gave me a quote of $32,455 (no D&H whatsoever)for 2006 AWD EXL with RES. Schomp has been giving me good offers, but Fisher is not bad. I just can't stand those kids who work for the Internet department at John Elway.

Looking for a good quote for a 2006 2WD Pilot EX-L with Navigator in Hartford,CT area, (manchester). I have got an internet quote for 31,678 /-. Is there a better price i could potentially get and should i wait till month end :confuse: ?

I negotiated (no hassling by dealer) 32K for a EX-L 4WD Pilot with Navi. I'm in the process of closing (once they find my color choice). The dealer was curtis ryan honda in Shelton, ct. So far it's been a very pleasurable experience. I should be closing this weekend.
  • ttg911ttg911 Member Posts: 45
I negotiated a price, $31,500 (including destination) for the car. I have decided to lease, however, I wanted to put down $1,500 (as a cap cost reduction) and pay the 'additional fees' out of pocket. Problem is, now they are charging quite a few fees that I think are questionable at best. They are: $289 doc fee, $83 new license fee, $595 paperwork prep fee (dealer says this is a Honda fee and they don't see one cent of it). I got this deal at Herb Chambers in Boston, MA. Did anyone else have to pay this $595 fee to Honda? Thanks!
