Got a quote from College Park Honda in Maryland...06 EX-L AWD for $26,852.00...they also said they will add the mudguards, wheel locks, and "interior protection" (whatever that is). for free. That's almost $3500.00 below invoice. I hope this is a good quote if I decide to buy. Any people here have experiences with College Park Honda? THX

The mudflaps, wheel locks, mats and stripe are all supposed to be part of the "appearance package"(which is already included in the MSRP). Some dealers try to make it seem like they are giving you something extra with that but it really is already figured in the MSRP. Sounds like you've got a very good price though. Just make sure that the only thing they are adding are title, tax, and license. Check on what their "processing fee" is-- this varies greatly from dealership to dealership.

I have been looking for a EX 4WD and the best price so far has been $25,200 and an EX-L for $27K. I had Honda of Westport quote well under $25K for the EX. I went to the dealer to obtain a trade in quote, which they proceeded to low ball. Then, upon confirming the quoted internet price, they told me that was a wrong quote! They internet guy typed a LX price, even though the email header I had said EX. This was a very poor attempt at bait and switch. They claimed to be new management and wanted business. What a horrible way to start to attract new customers. Still searching for a good deal.

I think the low end for EX-L's is about 26,500. So for those of you who are wondering if you've gotten a good deal, I think anything sub 27K is pretty darn good.

We used Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA. The internet dept was good. some of the sales folks seemed pushy, but our guy was outstanding and easy to work with. Let me know if you need more details.

I didn't buy an LX, but in the Boston area newspapers they advertise specials at 19,000 for a 2wd lx. It should be a lot less than the EXLs that are what this forum mostly describes.

I agree. You got totally ripped off. I just purchase an 06 EX for $24,214 which included the $550 destination. They also gave me $9800 for my 2002 Ford Escape XLT with 67,000 miles.

24,600 and 25,500 are prices you can get on an EX.

Get quotes from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ and from Staten Island Honda. This should give you an idea as to what you should be paying.

Not sure if Honda is going to extend the incentives ($3000 dealer cash & low financing), but you have until July 31st to take advantage.

I posted the message before. At DCH Academy Honda, Old Bridge NJ, EXL 4WD is less than $26500 include dest. charge. They gave me good trade-in too. If you $27K does not include dest charge, for $1k, you might just drive to NJ to get one.

Thanks for this forum and all the info posted here, which helped me a lot to purchase a Pilot 2wd EX-L w/ Navi yesterday. Here is my experience.

I started research around 3 weeks before. This forum is a must. But there is not much information for southern California here. I assumed price should be competitive since there are so many Honda dealers around Los Angeles county where I live.

This Tuesday, I started send 4-5 quote request thru edmunds and another 5-6 request via their own websites which are not listed in edmunds. Second day, I got 5-6 quotes ranging from 27,600-30,000. I started to push 2 dealers for "best quote" by telling them I am planning to buy it Friday. Finally, I got one offer around 27,400 which is 20 miles from me and they don't have the color my wife wanted. Friday, I walked into my local dealer (just around the street corner where I live)and talked to the internet "manager" whom I contacted before.Check the inventory to assure the color we wanted.

Finally meet the real internet manager asking how much lower I want to beat the offer from another dealer. Offered 27,200, Okayed immediately. The rest is routine: test drive, paper work, credit check. Got 2.9%APR for 36mo. Staff is very sharp there. Good experience so far.

Here is the itemized numbers in case southern Californians want to know them in detail before go to the dealer:
car:27,200 (MSRP $34,595, $7400 off MSRP)
License fee: 240
Dealer Doc fee: 45
CA tire fee: 8.75
LA county Tax: 8.25%

That's it. Glad to share the experience with forum readers. And good luck with your pilot.

Is anyone getting great deals on Pilots in Ohio? We live in central Ohio. Looking for 2006 EX L with Navigation system. Plans to add the towing package. We can settle for no navi we would like to have white..hard to find.

considering my Escape had 125k miles and was an '01. Plus the price before I put $5000 down was $20,250, so I only financed $15,250. I think I got a pretty good deal to tell you the truth. Oh did I mention they added a 7 year / 90,000 B2B extended warrenty at no extra charge.

I have been negotiating with a local dealer and we are pretty close on the price. He has lowered the price to 6000 below MSRP but is still low-balling me on my trade. I have asked him to come up a bit on that(1000 more to be exact-which is still a little below the KBB trade value). I might consider his current offer but the exact Pilot he wants to sell me has been traded around to a couple of dealers already. If he has them drive it here it will already have 500 miles on it. Am I being unreasonable to request a "new car" or have him lower the price even more?

we called staten island and they did have the 1995 down + tax and then the before and after bank fees which totalled 1000. so not too bad with 199 per month.

but they went through a bank and not honda so not covering certain damages and fees upon return if the vehicle had some damage.

so now need your help again.....because in nassau, 198 per month but putting about 5000 down!!!!!! (includes dest. taxes and all fees and leased through honda so they said they cover fees and no before and after bank fees + give money torwards damages if there is any at end. - 3 year. Is that good?

If you are willing to drive to Dayton I highly recommend White Allen Honda Downtown. We just bought a AWD EX-L with RES for 29000 (28450+550 dest fee). They were so nice to deal with, not pushy and they accepted our offer without any bickering. I think some people in other states have gotten a little better deal, but we are happy. We love our Pilot, it was worth every penny. Good luck to you.

It is odd the local Honda dealer told me they would be getting no more 2006 Pilots..she told me they expect them into August. I am looking for White I think hard to find. I wanted Navi but can live without it. to get white.

When I went through whypaysticker.com email inquiry I got a message that said no dealers in my area had a bargain price for me. I don't think White Allen had any Pilots in white. We weren't looking for Navi, we wanted RES so I may be wrong. Our salesman was Pat, not sure if I can post his phone or email address so email me if you would like them.

We had also gone to Hidy Honda in Beavercreek, but they are a higher volume dealer therefore less likely to give you a good price. We got our new 2006 Pilot for less than what Hidy was willing to sell us a used 2005 with 21K miles on it . Hidy did have about 20ish new Pilots so White Allen may be able to do a trade with them. I live around the corner from Hidy so would be happy to scope the lot for you.

Good luck, the Pilot IMO is worth the work to get what you want.

Try Renton Honda. But their stock is running really low now. I get mine EXL 4WD at 27.3k (including destination). That's the best deal I can find in Seattle area (thanks buzzsaw11). The sales guy is a very nice guy. No trick or pushing. He sold 16 Pilots this month, 4 from member of this forum including me and buzzsaw11. But their 7yr/90k mi warranty is too expensive comparing to Honda Care from www.hondawarrantyinfo.com . Good luck!

I presently own an 04 Pilot with 85,000. I have never taken this to a dealer. Oil and fluid changes done at quick lube operations and I have changed my air filter myself. Brakes done at local garage. I have never had one problem with this truck and don't expect to before trading it next week for a new '06. These warranties, especially on a Pilot, is a waste of your hard-earned money IMO.

That's what we got and I was told by each dealership (3 of them) that I contacted that the "Appearance Package" consists of mudflaps, mats, stripe and wheel locks and that is supposed to be added at the dealership for all EX-L, maybe even the other the EX but I'm not sure about that. You could call 2 or 3 dealers around you and ask about it and then go back to the dealer you bought from and tell them that you "assume they just forgot to include those things that they were supposed to." 28K is your target with destination

Credit scores over 710 usually bring 4.9% for 5 years. But, even if you have the credit score, if you have screwed Honda Finance in the past, you wont' get the rate.

If I were to buy or lease the LX honda 2006, what should I expect to come with it when I pick up car with regard to accessories: ie.

Mudflaps, mats, stripe and wheel locks are a few things I have seen mentioned. Also the cover in the back or privacy shield etc (not sure what its called) ??

also, what about window tinting?

Just bought a Pilot EX 2WD in Santa Ana, southern California. The total price including tax and all other charge is 25K.

I used internet quote. After a few back and forth phone call, we went to the dealer place and spent about two and half hour to test drive and sign paper works.

Seeker, Sorry to get back to you so late. I didnt choose the tint...they all have it allready.I was stating that it was listed on the dealer add-on sticker. As far as exterior color here in Phoenix it doesnt make a difference. My old ride was silver and my wifes car is black..no diff. I wouldnt get black leather interior though...not here lol.

29,100(including desti) plus TTL.What I found is Honda pilots are more and more difficult to find, as the new ones are coming around 15th august. I think its a good deal.I would appreciate if anyone could comment on the deal.thanks

It was great reading all the experiences/prices to date - thanks for sharing. I just bought an EX-L AWD with Navi this weekend for $28,250 (dest incl)+ tx/lic from Hopkins in Sunnyvale, CA and 2.9% for 36 mos. Great experience and service, but they're sold out of that model now.

A few other dealers came close - I found the best way was not to just rely on the email quotes thru this site, but use it as a starting point and call around. I called internet/fleet mgrs at ~10-12 dealerships and about half were willing to beat the lowest price on hand at any one time. If I had relied solely on the emails, the lowest price I would have had was $29,257 ($3k below invoice). Still a good deal, but I like the $4k below invoice I ended up with...

Oakland Honda was competitive too. Better hurry, last day to save!

I grew up south of Philly in Aston, and can tell you Sloane is an OK dealership. If you want to save some money, head out this way (Central PA. (Lancaster, Harrisburg, Lebanon, Hershey)) You may have to drive a bit down the turnpike, but you may end up saving a good bit. Remember, we don't have to pay the extra 1% city (7% total) Sales tax. Plus we have so many Honda dealers out this way, theyare just tripping over each other to get you buisness.

That is a good deal. I did alot of shopping and the best I could get on the EXL was 27,100 + TTL. Plus, they only had Gold (not for me).

I did not pull the trigger since the # was high and they would not budget and the trade in was under valued.

EX-L Res,4WD -just paid $28,500.+ just LI NY tax,+ $158.00 mv/dmv. (performance pkg (wheel lock, mud flaps, cargo tray) - No charge - he threw it in. Was happy with price. (NO crazy Doc fee, etc.) & He was honest with us and we felt like this salesperson treated us very FAIR> Other area deales could not do better for price either.

azjim, just to add my two cents about car color in AZ, and having bought a Silver Pilot recently.
Years ago I worked at a dealership in AZ and in the morning they washed all the cars. After a short time the white cars were still wet and cool to the touch, the burgundy cars were dry and warm but the black cars were not only dry but hot to the touch. Also recently Mythbusters on Discovery sucessfully tested that dark cars get hotter faster "especially in AZ". :shades:

My wife and I are trading our 2004 Pilot for an 06 EXL-RES. Vinart responded to my emails for $28k for the newand $15,500 for my 'O4. Upon arrival their best offer was as follows:

$29,995 for 06 EXL-RES
$15500 for '04 EXL-RES with 85k (exactly what KBB lists)
$1083 for accessories (lower trim, cargo tray and air deflct

Isn't this about $1900 more than what they could sell this to me for?
They wouldn't touch the $28K and the salesman got nasty when I told him I wanted the $28K or nothing. We walked.
Clinton offered me $27900 but they are in NJ and its a hassle b/c I am in Pa and then need to have the truck inspected here.
Oh and I was buying an '06 Civic as well and they let me walk. My wife and I were not impressed with the way we were treated. They made no effort to retain our business. That is our last visit to Vinart and I do not recommend them. Over and over I am reading bad things about this dealership and their wooing of customers in on prices and then not touching the deal they imply they will do. Low-class operation.

I actually wanted those items.) not that great of a deal as everyone else but I was pretty happy. I did do my homework and tried everywhere but the dealers in washington didn't seem like they wanted to deal...

We wanted to give an update on our Seattle area experience. I spent a fair amount of time on this forum picking up details and things to ask.
This was our first "new" car so we tried to go in eyes wide open.
We bought an EX-L, Black, 4wd from Renton. Hubs and rear mud flaps were on already. Buzzsaw11 gave us a contact to work with there that worked out quite well.
As other people have commented on, I think that Seattle/Washington is a tough market, but sometimes if you find something you want, you have to pay a little bit more. In my mind, agonizing and wasting a few weeks of your life haggling and thinking about these things is worth $500 on a price (enough of that - on to the details)
Price was just as was quoted over the phone- no hidden fees. We paid 27,800 - $2667 for Tax, Documents $35, TTL $214.
They did have a "Christmas in July" promotion that had no payments in 2007 and free gas x 6 months - which he said due to the price we didn't qualify for. (Didn't quibble - thought we had a good price and just wanted to get home).
We got the running boards, did not do an extended
warranty (thanks edmunds discussion). We did keep the alarm system deal that they had "put in" all cars - I think it is overpriced but at least it is in (and I didn't have to spend a few weeks figuring out what system to buy, having to send
my wife and two young kids in to have it put in-- etc.
etc - too much hassle). In retrospect, not sure how much this adds to the system already on the ex-l, and I had forgotten what had been discussed on the forum.
Last question - Has anyone had experience with the wind deflector for the moon roof? I have heard the deflector can have a whine when you drive at highway speeds. I'll check the accessories forum too.

After much negotiating with 3 different dealers the best I could do is 26,932 + 89 processing fee and 400 under my KBB trade (I will cover TTL). The kicker is that they say they cannot get me the Sage Brush Pearl one that I want-none in the 5 state area we are in. Would cost me significantly more to go out this area IF there are any to be had. The one coming in is black ( I could settle for that). What do you think of the price ? When I tell each dealer about prices paid here they say it is impossible to sell at these numbers and say they must be demos or that people must not be honest in what they are paying.

Went to Bellevue Honda [10 miles from seattle] for another try,, the sales guy had said he wanted me to 'just drive by for a minute' so his used car manager wanted to try to get me more for my trade,, but that turned out to be missed [my fault of course] because used manager was in hong kong on vacation, but sales guy still wanted to try to help me. First off they did not have a color I wanted, white or the coppery goldish [sandstone?] but had a green and a silver [nav unit]. I considered the silver, but the price was still higher then the norm reeves deal [which was based on a 'blind' quote on my chevy trade and 1200 miles away] I wanted to stop messing with it [see ghansonuoi post above] but did not want to settle for something I really did not want color wise and price wise.... as I thought about it, the guy starts filling out the paperwork and I say, 'I did not say I would go for this yet' and he proceed to tell me that we just needed to get me 'in line' for the process which would still take at least 1.5 hours, that if I did not take the deal today I would never get that good a deal, that other dealers could not possibibly do any better and that he only made 50 bucks on the thing,, that he just works because he is retired and liked to help people-- and tried to explain how the dealer dollars should not affect the price someone pays for a vehicle. Another thing that bugged me, he would not tell me what the price was I was paying for the pilot or what they were giving me for my chevy, just the montly payment. Well, even though I didnt want to mess with the thing anymore, I had to walk, the deal is only good for today just grates on me. If the new trailblazer or tahoe had the Honda nav, Id buy one in an instant, I think Ill drive the new tahoe just to see if I like it better then the old wallowing 2006 tahoe. grrrr
