DC handles leases differently - no sales tax on the final price, but they charge a ten percent tax on the Cap Reduction and then ten percent on the base lease payment, which gets added to the final payment.
Can anyone point me to a lease calculator I can download?
Thank you Mwitt --I put out the specs on the 325 I wanted and got a bid of $700 over invoice. I am waiting to confirm all the numbers (and they threw in the mats)-Since I keep cars for about 8 years is there some kind of extended warranty I should be looking at?
Thank you MWhitt and Kydx- I received a bid of $700 over invoice on the specs I wanted with the 325i--The car will have to be built- and delivery is 4 to 8 weeks. Since I tend to keep my cars for a long time is there an extended warranty I should be looking at? Finally can I write into the down payment agreement that if BMW offers rebates or cash backs while I wait for the car I should be entitled tol the benefit?
generally, i am not a big fan of extended warranties, but in the case of a BMW, with the high labor rates and all the new little techno goodies that can go bad over time, it just might pay for itself. you need to look at how your years and mileage are going to play out. most are 7/100. you have the 4/50 for nothing additional at the start.
i don't know what the extended warranties look like, but the general advice is get it from the manufacturer, not a third party - negotiate for it. see if you can pit dealers against each other in bidding for that too. if it is a manufacturer's warranty, they all sell it --- so go for it the same way. you generally don't have to buy at time of purchase, you can wait a while but the price will generally go up.
I am thinking of ordering a 2006 325xi with Premium, cold weather, navigation sys, parking assist and Sirius radio. Sticker price will be over $42,000. BMW gives $2295 off for del in Munich and since I am planning a European vacation anyway, it sounds good. What I don't know is if this discount is off the sticker or off my best negotiated price. Any ideas?
$400.00 to $700.00 for tire insurance is total waste. Better off buying 1 runflat tire for $300.00 & store it. If u get a flat u can drive 150 miles & get your tire.
If tire shop can't fix your flat or don't stock runflat? You can easy go to your truck & have it mounted on your car. If going on long trips throw spare in trunk & you are set.
Chances are in your favor of never getting a flat? Which means: come time u need 4 new tires, your 1 tire ahead.
I'm driving 32 years & believe only 2 flats ever! I rather pay $300.00 for 1 runflat that I will use in future. Then $400.00 to $700.00 tire insurance that I may never use?
Good comment and I understand your reasoning but the sports package has 4 different tires on the car (staggered sizes and directional). I would need to have four spares available if I get a flat. I have averaged about 1 nail every other year over the past 10 years. My wife and I are moving into a new neighborhood so there is even greater risk. For me it is a good deal.
BMW sells the warranty for $689 now discounted in my area for $589. Most tire shops will not repair run flats due to liability reasons. They claim they would not know how far you have driven on them flat. I have been told that some people will repair them but it may cost more due to the time and machinery required to demount and mount a runflat tire ($150). BMW claims they do not repair runflats and only replace them. This can be expensive for just a nail hole? I need to find out what corvette owners have been doing for the past 8 years with there runflats.
There is no actual direct-to-consumer discount given by BMW for ED.. You still have to negotiate your best deal with the dealer... Do your research and get the ED invoice price for the car you are interested in, then add in a profit margin for the dealer... the same as you would for any car..
In other words, negotiate your best price.. they won't do that, then take off another $2295...

First: I don't know where you got that weird 2295 off figure but it's about 2-3k off from reality.
Look at page 2, in the munich pick up section. That's the real ED price. Add your features (prices listed), then find a dealer willing to meet that price plus $695 shipping and $1,000 dealer profit.
Third: Ignore the BMW website junk about ED. You use that, you cheat yourself out of a few grand.
A 330i with manual, leather, sport, comfort access is 41k. Via ED, including dealer profit it's 35.8k.
Fourth: There is an ED board on edmunds. go there and discuss your options with people who have done ED.
I say lease. Either make the payments monthly (from your checking account) and take the money you have to pay for the car and invest it. You can also pay your lease in full and save a little bit of money (not sure what happens if the car is lost or stolen in this situation). Definitely lease.

There isn't 4 different size tires. 2 fronts are same & rears are the same. Even if u buy 2 spares 1 front & 1 back, will equal insur.
I bought one & hope it will be a front tire that gets flat :-) If not no big deal, just buy the rear tire if it can't be fixed? Actually planning to buy the rear tire to, so when time for 4 new tires. I will need to only buy 2.
Hello, I am trying to work out the details for a 36-month, 45K lease on a 2006 325ix with a dealer in suburban Chicago. The BMW dealership printed up the worksheet indicating a residual of 60% and a MF of .0022. Is this correct? Also, the "acquisition fee" is $825. Is this generally a negotiable fee, or, is this determined by BMW North America? Thanks in advance for your help.
The latest numbers I've seen for the '06 325xi AWD sedan for 36mo/45K are 61% and .00225 for the money factor..
The base acquisition fee is $625, which is set by BMWFS.. The dealer is allowed to mark up the fee by $200 for extra profit. Only that last $200 is negotiable..
Are you looking at a wagon? Those numbers are different.
I am guessing that the front tires will last about 20,000 miles and the rear will last 15,000. I am hoping to only have to buy 2 at a time when they wear out. Tire Rack price is 307 for the rear and 250 for the front. Mounting, freight and taxes will add about 50 per tire so with 2 nails I will come out ahead.
Looking at buying a 2001 330ci from a private party CPO warranty till sept 2007 42k miles premium, sport, cold weather packages xenon harmon kardon, 6 disc changer in trunk wood trim bmw factory alarm
What is this car worth, what would you pay for it? Thanks Bret
I just ordered a 330i with zpp, zsp, step,Titanium silver, and sat prep. I bought it from Pacific bmw in glendale,ca the Salesperson was awesome. The deal he gave me was $500 over invoice(includes $330 Maco), $830 over edmonds invoice. So if your in so cal I would give pacific a chance to earn your business. I also want to thank KYFDX and buyanewbimmer for all there help in this process. Feel free to email me for the salesperson's name.
You may include the dealership name, city and state in your post. Please do not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information.
trdrdad -- what kind of time frame did the dealer say you were looking at on your order? Also, any sense of how long a car typically is at each stage of the order process? (my 330xi was ordered just before the new year and the status remains "on order"). I'm trying to figure out how difficult I should be if the estimate of "early to mid-March" gets missed.
Obviously, I'd appreciate anyone chiming in who has gone through this process.
You can buy a car that already has an active CPO warranty. However, if the car is owned by a dealer and showing on bmwusa.com, then the car is more likely in a CPO Pending" state, meaning that the car will go into an active state once someone buys it from the dealer. If the car you buy from a private party is just a used car without any prior CPO certification, then you won't have any warranty...
typically takes about 6-7 weeks from build of car til it arrives at dealership. The car only takes about 2 days to be built but it is the transportation that takes forever. The wait at the port, coupled with the 14 days transcontinental voyage, only adds to the anticipaton. I order my 2006 330xi in med sept for a first week october build and picked it up at my dealership on 11/22/05. The BMWFS website allows you to track but it isn't always updated timely. You can call the BMW 800# and it will give you real time location of your vehicle. The anticipation is like no other but when it arrives, it is a joyous occasion!
I ordered my 330i on the 6th of January. The dealer, BMW of Nashville, told me it would be here in late February. They told me eight weeks is standard but lately they have been coming through on orders in 4-5 weeks.
You are going to love this car in terms of both performance and creature comforts. The bluetooth, comfort access and the ipod integration are some of my favorite.
I was told that my car would be here by the 2nd or 3rd week of feb. Talking to another guy who ordered one a fews days before I did from the same dealership thought that was a little bit too optimistic. I hope my sales guy was right for the both of us .
I just don't know if I can drive my '00 A4 much longer (no sport pkg, no 6 speed, etc.)! I guess those things in life that are worth it are worth waiting for (as long as you have $40k, too).
Anyway, thanks for the tips...I suppose I'll be calling the 800# instead of pulling up the website every day.
I can't recall nor find the number but it is an 800# to BMW USA. All you need is the last 6 of the vin or the production number and it will give you a status. When I was tracking my vehicle, the site said "waiting to be shipped" yet phone said it was on a shipping vessel. I was also able to track the shipping via the shipping vessel website. All east coast shipments leave from Bremerhaven in Germany via Wallenius Wilhemsen and service all ports on the east coast. I'm unsure about other parts of the country. You simply plug in the vin on their site and it tells you the status and port of the vessel in question.
My 2004 325i lease is about to come up. I am paying $492 a month and it was on a 2 year lease with 15K miles, no money down, taxes included. My original sticker was around $37000 Does anyone know how much A $37000 325i will be on a lease now? Same parameters, 24 month, taxes rolled in, except I would do 12K a year. I keep seeing advertised the same deal I was on in 2004 at about $30 more a month, equipped the same was the base car was equipped back then.
Cool deal I will call in a week or so. The dealer told me about the shipping website for tracking the car across the Atlantic. I also have some friends in the container business who said they can give me specifics when I give them a vessel name and arrival port.
Thanks. I called and it is going to finished on the 19th. The Owners circle updated today with a VIN to and "Scheduled for Production" status. The anticipation is killing me.

$34,886 is the deal agreed on ($36,320 MSRP)
But 3 year lease with $0 down (first month's payment, taxes and everything, but no additional $$s), 36 months and 12K miles is $532 per month plus taxes.
He told me residual was 64%.
I was happy with the overal price $34,886 (4% over invoice), but he started playing games on the lease pricing..."sorry our first price we quoted you, we used the wrong residual, so that number isn't valid"...blah, blah. I walked out after 90 minutes of negotiations...not that I think he was too far off the price, but that he played enough games where I was in a position of feeling he was playing games to get the pricing up. Right or wrong, it was time to leave.
Anyway, what do you all think? And thanks to all for the advice on leasing versus buying given my scenario. That was helpful.

Have your Prod # or last 6 of VIN available.
does anyone have jan lease numbers for a 325 convertible?
also, how much over base mf are dealers typically quoting?
Dealers will typically mark up the money factor the maximum amount allowed (.0004).. But, you should always insist on the base rates...
