I didn't think this was a super deal, but it was the best I could do talking with 3 dealers out here on the east coast for two weeks.
I've heard of folks in CA getting $500 or so over invoice, but dealers seem to be getting $1,500 over invoice out here. Additional advice -- watch the TT&L fees that are not gov't mandated -- some dealers were looking for "doc fees" of up to $800. Dealers are trying to make thier money in one place or the other, so I found the process less frustrating by negotiating a "walk out the door" price which included all taxes, fees, etc.
Good luck.
Not sure why you'd put 44k (40k sale price, 10% ttl) into a vehicle that will be worth less than 40k the moment you drive away, but that's your perogative.

and agreed at a price of $36,165+fees, which is $1000 over invoice.
I paid a $2000 non-refundable partial payment, and will be paying the total amount in cash upon delivery
I was wondering what the dealer means by "fees".
What fees are waivable or negotiable, and what are must pay's?
I live in SoCal. What would be a reasonable total amount that I will pay for this car?
I see that a lot of people are buying it at $500 over invoice. Since I already agreed at a set price, I was wondering if I could get the dealer to absorb some fee cost..
Also, would it be better to talk to the dealer about this before the car arrives, or should I wait till they call me that the car arrived?
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I made sure I had a complete bill of sale before I ordered the car...but I also just gave the dealer my Amex number for a $500 *totally refundable* deposit (and he hasn't charged my card still).
Also, I can't let the comment go about why someone would pay 44k for something that will be "worth less than 40k the moment you drive away". Isn't the answer obvious (and true of all transactions in a free market)? -- because it's worth more to me than it is to the market. I'd rather have the depreciating car than $44k.
I believe you have struck at the heart of the matter. As a figure of speech I may say that I "invested" in some new, upscale home entertainment equipment when in fact I do not literally mean that I "invested" in it, I simply bought it.
I put a car in the same category. While I share the common desire not to overpay, I could never rationalize the cars I buy as an investment. I earn income, invest as much as I need to and spend enough to enjoy the bounty this great country provides. Buying a car is included in the spending column.
I recently posted a message on a 330xi with an MSRP of $44,070 and invoice of $40,395. The best quote to date after looking at three Chicago area dealerships is $42,850 and free mats (my choice, winter or summer). The only fees not included on that best price is a $57 document fee and a $105 license transfer fee. In addition to the cash price and fees I have to pay 6.75% sales tax.
Prior to my decision to buy a 330XI I looked at a Lexus IS 350 and a few Infiniti models. They both carried dealer prep and delivery fees that were not apparent until I asked about them. They ranged from $700 to almost $1000.

In the DC metro area. Invoice is $38,250 (incl. $695 destination). What should I expect to pay over invoice, what other fees should I expect to pay and are these negotiable?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Fees above invoice:
Acq fee - base is $695, dealer can markup as much as $200
tags - $100
Taxes - I rolled them in, but depends on which state you live in.

The MSRP for this in Dallas is $33,140. The invoice is $30,400. I plan to offer $31K and pay only tax on top of this. Is this a good deal? :confuse:
There are 3 BMW dealers that I know in Dallas: Classic BMW, BMW of Dallas and AutoBahn in Forth Worth. Can you suggest another one or which of these are known to give good deals?
Many thanks for the info...

Price: $38,300 including ad and doc fees, not including tax and tag. MSRP is around $40,120 and invoice is around $36,800. So I'm basically paying $1,500 over invoice and $1,800 under MSRP.
I used Performance BMW in Chapel Hill, NC. Could have probably saved a couple hundred more by going to Charlotte or one of the Triad dealerships but once you factor in the travel hassle it wasn't worth it since I live in Chapel Hill.
Let me know what you think of the deal and I hope this help in your car hunting...
Could anyone be so kind as to provide me with the latest residual and money factor figures for 10/12K lease for either 24/36 months?
I am looking at a 330i sedan (2006 of course).
Thanks :shades:
if you were to lease a 2006 330i for 24 months the Base MF is .00220 and residual is 73% and 74% respectively for 10k and 12k miles.
DL
The base money factor for 330i (but NOT 330xi) 0.00195. You probably won't get the base money factor but 0.00215 or even 0.00205 is doable - at least here in NJ.
It it off the lot or order? If it's off-the-lot, I wonder how long it's been sitting in inventory.
Best thing to do is order a car. Then you can get the specific color and options you want and you would probably get the car for less because the dealer isn't incurring any risk and cost of a car sitting on the lot when it arrives. Sure, you have to be a little more patient but apparently it's not that bad. I put my order in yesterday afternoon and I got an email this morning telling me that the car has already gone into production. BMW provided me with a tracking number so that I can monitor the production progress. The car is scheduled to arrive in early April. Not a bad tradeoff to get the exact car you want at a lower price.
Good luck.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you are looking to bump them, but they won't move on price, ask them to extend the factory maintenance to 6yr/100K as well... That runs around $1000..
That will increase the value of your car, even if you decide to sell it before the warranty is up..

Once again, thanks!
The dealership refused to accept MSDs on the deal - only they finally confirmed that today. This could have been a deal breaker but I decided to suck it up. I'm giving them an extra $700 over the course of the lease and probably seals the fact my next ED in 2008 will be with a different dealership. I don't like getting jerked around, but with my plane ticket purchased I'm in a bad situation.
My salesmen became ill and thus I've been working with a new person on my ED. Bummer all the way around.
Kyfdx, do you know if dealers must allow buyers to use MSDs? This doesn't kill my deal but it does make me a little dissatisfied.
They will see me in 2008 and have a chance to right their wrongs in writing before the car is officially ordered. Considering my sister is ordering a convertible via ED in 08 also, they have have lost two deals in their effort to secure another $700 right now. Shortsighted in the extreme...

Well, it has been 3-4 weeks and yesterday he called me up saying that the car had been produced but with the WRONG EXTERIOR COLOR!!! I had ordered silver and he said that the car had been made with a black exterior..He said that the car would have to be made again..
He in fact told me that this had never happened before...Am I to believe all this BS??!!
When I told him that I wanted the same finance rates as was in effect in Feb, he replied he didnt know if it could be done..
I ordered the car in Feb and I didnt screw up the order..
Is this guy screwing with me??
