I have a question for you....I wanted the split window so so badly but it just didn't come with my truck. You say you ordered the split window w/ rear defrost....is that possible to have...let me know....My 4X2 Green Sport Quad has everything but the split window and the cool rear end (3.55) that Ferous has. Wink, Wink! Good luck guys....think I'm going down to South beach now....isn't great that Dodge made the rear windows go all the way down?
LOL
It was the 6x9 power mirrors with defrost and the defrost rear window. You cannot get the slider window with defrost. Unfortunately mine was mis ordered and GFA was not on the order sheet that was put in the computer. when the truck came in it had the split rear window, and standard manual mirrors. I really didn't need the defrost option but, it was fairly cheap and I thought it would be nice, oh well.I did balk at not having the larger mirrors as I will be towing a 6x10 enclosed motorcycle trailer. they are ordering the 6x9 mirrors and I got a lower price on the truck and did not pay the $115 for the rear window since I didn't really want it and it would cost them that much put in a standard one.
Love the truck so far lots of power, the 4.7 is the way to go! My dad has an R/T club cab and this truck feels just as fast!
I've had two Corvette hatchbacks and currently four Porsche hatches (928s / 944s) with the same problem. It's the air pressure differential that causes this 'booming.' Plays heck with your ears after a bit. To fix it in the Porsches with sunfoofs and/or removable panels (couldn't resolve it in the Vettes very well) I added a rooftop deflector with two little movable 'airfoils' (944 only) for the sunroof air to break up the airflow. Fixed everything in the 944's except for a gas smell when either of the side windows is down. Weird.
Anyway, I put the Dodge factory vent thingies on the leading edge of the Quad's front windows (glass channel), and I don't have the problem anymore. They're not as gawdy as the ones from the aftermarket channels. Hope this helps.
open differential in the "Full-Time" position.
However, I do agree that traction on MARGINAL
surfaces IS better with the full-time xfer case
than with 2WD alone. I presently have a Jeep
with the Selec-Trac xfer case that has the open
diff in the full-time position. It DOES help
in MARGINAL situations. True, if I am in full-time
and the right rear wheel (for example) loses
traction, it begins to spin and power is
transferred to the slipping axle. HOWEVER, it does
not seem to me to be an instantaneous xfer. It
seems to me that even though the right rear starts
to spin, the left front maintains traction long
enough to pull me out before the right rear loses
traction completely and gets all the power
transferred to it. Of course, this is in MARGINAL
situations, where traction is low, but not
nonexistent. For really bad situations, lock the
differential. It took me awhile to figure this
out, but now that I understand how my vehicle
behaves in full-time, I find it to be a very useful position, as it can be used when road
surfaces alternate from wet to dry to wet with no
warning. Just remember the limitations of it.
case and a rear axle LSD on the same vehicle?
If the front wheels started to slip, wouldn't the
power go forward to the front (slipping axle) and
ignore the LSD in the rear axle?
If you recall back to the ice example given by the technician in one of these posts, it shouldn't. You should still have that torque at the rear wheels.
I ordered my quad 4X4 on 12/28 and I am interested in a status of my order. I am worried since I hear you all talking about restrictions! I talked with my dealer and they are clueless as usual. Does anyone have a phone number to check the status of an order? I have my VON.
thanks!
Jason
That would be pending no restrictions...
I called and I got nowhere fast. The guy I ended up with was of no help. He did look up my VON, and he confirmed that it was in the system, but he knew nothing. In fact he was not even aware of any restrictions. He said "that sounds like it could be true" Do you have a direct person that has been helpful for you, and actually knows something? Which automated menu choices did you pick when calling that number? It is amazing to me that anything ever gets acomplished at some places of business. If I knew for sure that it was going to be another 3 months before I get my truck- I have half a mind to go buy a Durango. They are like butt holes- everyone's got them!
thanks!

P.S. As I said, all Quad 4X4's were on restriction at this point in time.
Someone posted a web page that had instructions for getting an order status. I ordered a 4x4 dakota cc with the 4.7 and 4sp auto on 12/18. They told me it was also on restriction. I guess it is updated weekly so I will probably call every week.
Wish I had it already! Here is the link:

#1 [www.starboards.com] then to chrysler/jeep, finally quad 2000 - Avail. NOW for $500
#2 [www.hotchkis.net] then to the red SEMA quad graphic, you might fill out questionnaire while you're there. Avail. as soon as we beg for em.
:-)~
I specificly asked my dealer about "Heated" 6X9 Mirrors and he told me that ONLY the 5X7 Power Mirrors are heated. Was I told wrong or what? Doesn't make a difference to me because I already ordered mine with the 6X9 Mirrors.
"-dual power 6x9" black, folding heated on Quad Cab)"
I averaged 15.7 mpg, not bad for a brand new truck! Driving was a mix of city and highway with a majority in town driving. I have a 4x2 4.7 auto with the 3.55 and limited slip. I would expect the mileage to get better after a couple thousand miles. I am impressed with the AM/FM/CD/CASS/EQ.
it sounds great and the audio controls on the wheel are worth the $75. The 4.7 engine is smooth as glass! My dad has an R/T ext. cab, he drove it and wishes he would have waited for a Quad Cab.
I believe the 4.7 would give an R/T a good race, we haven't tried that yet!
thanks,
robert
less than the advertised towing capacity?
The difference between CALSS2 and CLASS4 hitches is not trivial.
That is a significant problem.
If you are certian that your window sticker actually calls out that you should have a class4 hitch, Please consider posting this fact in some of the other Dakota forums. I am sure EVERYONE with a tow package on ANY Dakota will be interested in this fact.
waiting on dodge to make the next move, i told them i have already towed 5200lbs for over 180 mi on a very hilly highway, they said they needed to jump on this quick, they acted kinda scared.
ill keep you all up to date,
robert
I may be wrong but I think the towing package gives you a class 3 hitch. Is the receiver on your truck 2" by 2". I think class 2 is smaller, something like 1" by 1" receiver.
Henne I will be very interested in DC's explanation.

The local dealer to me (not the one I ordered my truck from) has a green/driftwood SLT 4X4 demonstrator that they are selling. Unfortunately it is the 5.9 liter engine, auto. Loaded with everything except tow package. If it had the 4.7 I would be writing them a check! If anyone else is intertested the dealer is Tate Dodge of Glen Burnie, Maryland (near Baltimore).
item 5 (bpeebles) gave a URL www.cs.fredonia...... I tried this with all possible links and could not get anywhere.
Anyone out there know how to track on line
i tow around 5000 lbs, and i dont want to spend almost 1000,00 for a weight distibution system to work with split tounge trailors and another one for single tounge trailors. thats the reason i wanted a class 4, a class 4 can carry 6000 without all that expensive other stuff and my truck only tows 6100 anyway, so i would never need that expensive stuff, i would have rather paid up to 300.00 installed for a class 4 aftermarket than pay dodge 275.00 for theirs and have to pay between 600 and 1,000 for the weight dist accessories also. with a class 4 i dont need weight distibution hitches to pull my boat, i want to hook up and go.
boy that ended up alot, and you probably dont care anyway LOL...
anyway i will keep all of you posted,
robert
