"Mike DiGiovanni, the head of GM's Hummer division, told Reuters in an interview that the H3 has not yet been fully approved. "If all things remain equal, we don't have some negative economic downturn, I think John's comments are accurate; it will fall shortly after the SUT (H2 sport utility truck). It's proceeding very well."
John's comment:
"GM CFO and Vice Chairman John Devine confirmed during a Prudential Securities conference in New York that GM will build the Hummer H3"
The PM sketch is the first sketch and IMO the ugliest, but it looks like the removable fender flares will make it to production.
More sketches at www.hummer3.net/index2.html
I REALLY like MTs sketches, hopefully the production H3 will be very similiar to them.

but that's only my opinion.

Of course you do! But you guys are missing a few, so I'm just spreading the love...
GM expects to show a concept version of the H3 (the most likely name for the next Hummer model) at November's SEMA show. Company officials describe the concept as a near-production prototype. According to suppliers, the H3 will be based on the new mid-size-truck platform underpinning the new 2004 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks.
GM suppliers say the new mid-size SUV will come out in fall 2004 as a 2005 model. The initial version of the H3 will be a four-door SUV, although an H3 SUT is also rumored. Spy pics of early H3 prototypes show short overhangs, a tailgate-mounted spare, and of course, that imposing, seven-slot grille that so irks Jeep product planners and litigators.
The H3 will likely cost $30-$35k. "The price ladder at Hummer will go down," confirms a senior GM official, who adds that whatever product follows the H3 could be even less expensive. Such a vehicle could be called the H4 and be similar in size and mission to the Wrangler.
That same GM official says that the SEMA show will witness a "bigger message" than just a concept idea for the H3. The news has nothing to do with the H4, but with the future of the H1 and the H2.
I can't wait until November to see what's in store for the H3!
Also, GM insiders have said that the next Hummer after the H3, will not be called the H4, but rather the HX. The HX will be a 2-door variant to finally give GM something to compete with the Wrangler. Personally, I think the Blazer ZR-2 was/is a great alternative to the Wrangler, but they have 2 different style appeals. I'm sure the HX will appeal more to the Jeep Wrangler crowd.
Here's the reply from Hummer, through PlanetFeedback.com:
"Enthusiasm is the word! Since 1999, General Motors and AM General have teamed up to bring a new breed of SUV to the automobile market, making the statement that HUMMER is like nothing else. The HUMMER H3 is currently a concept vehicle and will not be produced at this time. The H3 is currently in the developmental stages and information is not available. We are aware that there are published reports to the contrary, but General Motors has not officially released any information on H3.
Please continue to keep in contact with your local HUMMER dealership for updates, as they become available."
And here's the one directly from Hummer:
"Thank you for contacting HUMMER and your interest in the concept H3 model! HUMMER is excited about the future of the brand. Since 1999, General Motors and AM General have teamed up to bring a new breed of SUV to the automobile market, making the statement that HUMMER is like nothing else.
If the HUMMER H2 proves to be successful, General Motors will make the decision in the next few months on building the H3. At this time, the HUMMER H3 is only a concept vehicle, and has not been approved for production. Therefore, there is no information available. Many automobile magazines and publications have professed to have "Spy Shots" of the concept H3. Please note that these photos are not official, and do not represent any final product, as there is no final product at this time. Please keep in contact with us or your local HUMMER dealership for updates, as they become available.
We appreciate your input regarding this concept vehicle and thank you for contacting HUMMER!

Two slightly different reports, but we all know the H3 is coming out in the fall of 2004! Can't wait...

That picture you're referring to, though, is a PhotoShopped pic of the H2, to give us an idea of what the H3 might look like. While that guy did a good job morphing that photo of the H2 into an H3, I think the drawings in Truck Trend look closer to what the H3 will probably look like. He did a better job of taking design elements from the covered-up test mules and blending them with styling cues from the H2.
I have my own version of that H2 into H3 picture here:

I don't think so.
In any case, here's the link.

"H1 sales are actually up almost 20% since the launch of the H2 and there are no plans to walk away from the product. The announcement at SEMA will be focused on how GM is continuing to invest in the H1 not discontinue it. The H3 and H4 stuff is a bunch of rumored nonsense, you won't see anything about the H3 or H4, H5 H6...etc at SEMA Wendy."

I wish they'd give us the whole picture...
I thought I recognized that art. That guy has a very distinctive style; slightly amateurish and "cartoonie," but still helpful when trying to give an idea of a new model coming out. Are you sure you don't have that scan any more? Do you know of any place it exists on the web? I'd just like to take a better look at it. The guy who runs the Hummer.net sites didn't even give me a source. I was hoping he'd maybe send me a jpeg of it...
I'd rather not post my email address here, but if you go to my website http://www.tbcreative.com and go to "Contact," there's a link to my email there.
Thanks! I hope you find it... By the way, is that magazine on the racks still?
The Trailblazer's ground clearance SUCKS, so, as much as I liked it when it first came out, I've ruled it out. It's too expensive to lift the thing with the front drive shaft running through the oil pan. Also, your dollar figure is way off. Any Trailblazer that would be equipped the way the H3 will, would be an LTZ 4x4, with a sticker of about $33,000. So that argument doesn't make sense. It really comes down to style and utility.
As far as fuel economy, the H3 is built on the GMT 355 platform, shared with the Canyon/Colorado, and will probably house either the new in-line 5 or 6 under the hood. So, depending on the weight, the mileage should be close to what the Trailblazer/Envoy/Bravada/Rainier get. It may also have the new cylinder shut-down system, aiding in better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
To each their own...

I'll scan the pics in as soon as I can, and post them.

Off topic for a second, any news on a diesel in either the H2 or H3?
There's also a rumor that it may debut at the SEMA Show next month, but I doubt it. The same rumor stated that there might be something else "big" coming from Hummer. One can only surmise that they might either have a pre-release of the H2 SUT, or introduce a re-designed H1, from what the GM spokes person alluded to.
There's a sketch of a re-designed red H1 that Mark Stehrenberger drew, that appeared in Motor Trend & Truck Trend, which is also on the http://www.Hummer3.net website as a design possibility for the H3. Here's that link: http://www.Hummer3.net/press/pix.html
There's no way that's a sketch of the H3, because it looks like an H1 with H2 cues. Motor Trend never said it was an H3 design, and Stehrenberger had a couple of sketches of the H3 in Truck Trend a few months ago, that follow the shape of the vehicle in the spy shots we've seen.
So, it's possible there might be a re-design of the H1, but I doubt whether Hummer will have 3 new products coming out so close together. They may have a concept of the H1, though, that they'll introduce. Who knows...

Enjoy!
Preliminary reports claim the production H3 will have a turbo Colorado I5 (think Bel-Air).
Thanks for passing along the info, and I hope you reconsider!
See, was that so hard?
2005?! I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!! I hope that info is incorrect, and previous reports of a fall of 2004 release are actually right.
This looks AWESOME! If the SUV version looks this great, it WILL be my next truck. Why do we have to be tortured so...
