I read about the Scuba Super Crew in one of the reviews of the truck - but can't remember where. It had been outfitted that way for an auto show and it sounded like it was not a production model.
Checked VOPC and found my truck was shipped via rail on 9/7 so I went on-line at bnsf.com to track it and found out it's been shipped to Chicago! That's the wrong direction! Anybody out there know what the deal is with the shipping? It is supposed to be delivered to Washington state and it is travelling east from KC to Chicago - not west to Washington!
It's quite possible that it is more efficient to ship it through Chicago than some more direct route. Wait and see if it goes to Washington State from Chicago. I doubt if they lose too many trucks in shipping....
I just ordered my Supercrew last week and would love to know what the time frame is for delivery. Scrolling through the responses, I have seen mention of the VOPC, which seems to give you delivery dates for ordered vehicles.
Can anyone tell me where to find this information?
Like hulagirl I learned of VOPC through this site, but calling the 800 number is hard to get the information you are looking for. They told me at that number that it is only for dealers, and when they found out that I was not at the dealership they told me there is nothing they could do for me. So, after about four failed attempts I just started calling my salesman about every other day. He was really not very helpful either, and could not give me an exact delivery date. But, to give you an example of delivery. I ordered on june 1,00 and took delivery on Aug 15, 00 I waited all summer for this truck and it was well worth the wait. I love this truck. True for a 4x4 it does get bad gas milage and gas is as high as it has ever been. Keep in mind that I kept calling my salesman all the time and on the 13 of Aug I call and he said that it had been released from factory on sunday and on Monday he could not find out where the truck was enrouted to. That's because it was delivered to the dealership monday morning. I am the lucky one that lives in KC to have picked it up so soon after it was released from the factory.
Thanks for the info hulagirl and runner21. I will give my sales guy a call and start bugging him about this. He's been really easy to work with so far. The dealership I bought from had the exact truck I wanted on the lot, which was a solid Black Lariat, 5.4, 4X2, except it did not have the Graphite interior. So I wait.
VOPC has an automated system where you just punch in numbers and never speak to a human being. You just have to have the items I listed in the previous post. Good luck!!! I learned more from VOPC than my dealer knew because of VOPC - and he's not as interested in the status of my truck as I am - 4 days and counting still sitting in Illinois.....drumming my fingers....
I just took delivery of mine today, ordered 7-11-00 through the x-plan.
The VOPC is a good tool to use, but I discovered it isn't 100% accurate. I was told a build date of 9-4 with estimated delivery of 9-18. The build date on the sticker was 8-30 and the dealership received shipment today 9-14.
Keep in touch with your dealer and use the VOPC while you are impatiently waiting for your truck!!
I was just thinking. Your dealer must have had some inventory on his lot. There wasn't anything that he had that you wanted? Just curious as to why you ordered rather than picking one up off their lot.
Wanted Lariat with captain's chairs and 4X2. Dealer searched four states and Canada and found me one in Canada - but they wanted too much $$$ So I decided to order to get exactly what I want. The most difficult option seemed to be the 4X2 when I was looking - everyone wants 4X4 - but unless I feel like trying to ramble Kaena Point - I'll never use the 4WD and it will cost more $$$ for upkeep, gas mileage etc. So I ordered exactly what I wanted - black lariat, captains chairs, split rear window, cd changer, cargo cage, fiberglass tonneau and bed-liner. BTW - I have always heard LOL was laugh out loud (just my $.02 from your chevy discussion) The KMart oil 2 for $5 on sale and reg. price $2.50 had me LOL!
My truck is on the move! It left Chicago this morning - headed for Naperville, Il - at least it's going in the right direction now! Maybe I'll see it sometime this year! Can't wait....
I just got Westin CPS Platinum step bars and am a bit disappointed. There seems to be absolutely no clearance between the body of the truck and the bar. Is that the same with others or have I done something wrong in installation?
Ok for those curious what can of mileage one gets after 4500+ miles, it's 16.5 m/g (best to date for combo driving & 65 mph tops)! I have a 5.4L w/ LSD. I'm in western WA state so I don't use the A/C at all. By the way, when I last tanked, I really tested the limits on how far I can go after the gas gauge neadle went to "E". In fact, I went past the red mark and almost hit the bottom of the "E" before giving in and filling-up. To my surprise, I still had 2 gals left! I really LOVE my SC and I'm still turning heads, as well.
I put some Westin's my pick up about four weeks ago,and I couldn't be happier. Is your truck a 4x4? I have noticed the the clearance is a little tighter on the 4x2's. However, if you have a 4x4 and it seems that you don't have any clearance you might check your brackets again. I doubt you could get them mixed up and still get them bolted on. Good luck on your new Westin's and let us know if you find anything wrong.
Randy at Town & Country Ford said today that we are locked in for a build date in about 2 weeks and then we can expect delivery about 2 weeks after that. So looks like we are not going to see that S-crew before mid October. Getting anxious!
Long time no post! Been busy enjoying this beautiful piece of machinery called an S-Crew. For all of you waiting on yours; you WILL NOT be disappointed. What a truck. Anyway 600 miles on this baby and NO complaints. Driving city, highway, and mountains. So far 16.8 miles per gallon average. Couldn't be more pleased. Drove to Breckenridge over a 12,000 foot high pass and this truck handled it wonderfully with no loss of power and plenty of reserve. Quiet, smooth, and very comfortable. This S-Crew has the 5.4L engine and I am extremely I spent the little extra for the engine. I check the board regularily so if you have any questions ask away.
Just checked the BNSF (train) website and my truck is definitely on the move! It will arrive in WA this Sunday in the wee hours of the morning and the dealer assures me it will make it to the dock by the Thursday deadline for shipping! I can't wait. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your S-Crew Mtn Mike - I hope to be posting my reviews of actual driving before too much longer. Because of the shipping to Hawaii - I won't actually have my hands on it until October - but just knowing it's on the way makes me happy! I didn't go for the 5.4 - no definite plans for towing and I'm hoping the gas mileage will be a bit better with the smaller engine - I'll be sure to let you all know in a few weeks!
Runner21, I do have a 4x4. I called up Westin and described the whole setup. They told me that it is normal to not have space between the body of the truck and the inside edge of the bar. That really sucks because I wanted more space to be able to put my foot on the bar. oh well. At least they look nice.
I ordered my F150 SuperCrew on Aug 7 and picked it up last night. It's one great looking truck. I ordered it fully loaded. Not to brag but it sure helps when you can buy on Fords "A" plan. I was able to get a price $1300 under invoice. I understand that the bed extender cage has locks available to limit theft. Anyone know where to get them? I will let you know mileage soon. I ordered the 4.6 L.
I have just completed reviewing comments on this conference. I too am interested in a SC and have been doing some research. I noticed from previous postings that the 4.6L engine has 20 additional hp and that remote keyless entry is now standard. In addition to these two modifications, I have learned that the standard rear-end for the SC is now 331 and not 355. I was told this by a local dealership, although I have not seen it posted anywhere. FYI. Can anyone else confirm this?
I ordered my SC on 8/8, built the week of 9/4 and my paperwork shows an axle ratio of 3.55. The order confirmation, that is. When I see the final paperwork, I'll post if it's different.
Checked VOPC and got a build date of 9/25 and a delivery date of 10/16. The recording said you could check on line status inquiry in concepts, if I caught that right. Anyone tried that or know about that?
Concepts is the dealer to Ford on line service. Since VPOC is for dealers only the messages are directed to you as if you were the dealer. When you are accessing VPOC it is only because many many moons ago some of us obtained the dealer access code and number for VPOC since then it has been liberally broadcast on this and many other sites.
I have owned a SCREW since May and LOVE IT!!! My owners manuel says to use 87 octane and it not recommended to use a higher octane. With gas prices the way they are, thought you would like to know that 87 octane is the way to go.
I test drove one today. Notice that the arm rests on the Captains chairs are kind of small. The bench, meanwhile, seemed like a good seat. Anyone care to comment on which you got, why, and if you have any positive or negative comments on your choice? Thanks.
I don't know where you came up with 91 octane. That is not recommended and you could void your warranty. 87 Octane is recommended for the 5.4L engine. Make sure you read your owner's manual.
hey, just got back from my local ford dealer. checked out a 4x4 supercrew lariat. pretty nice vehicle except for the cheap looking interior. anyway, this truck is on my short list of possible buys in the next couple months. however, i do have a question. does anyone have the optional moonroof? i'm interested in ordering one with the hole-in-the-roof but am afraid of losing too much headroom. anyone wanna chime in? thanks.
As with Mtn Mike, I am back to see what's up! Glad to others getting the fever and going for THE truck. I am at about 1700 miles and lovin every mile. Couple things tho....... armrests do seem short. I was in an Expedition Sport model and would much rather opt for the larger center storage console that doubles as arm rest. MUCH more practical and you don't have to move the arm rests each time to buckle up. Second, I am experiencing some not sure how to describe, hesitating while idling. Gotta make plans to have them look at that. But I am just loving the truck as do all that spot it. And functional beyond belief with 5 in the family and much stuff to haul around! I can't imagine beating this vehicle.
Just received an email from my dealer - truck arrived from the factory with BF Goodrich tires. Dealer says this is the first vehicle they've seen with the new brand since Ford switched and says they look great! Too bad I have to wait another two weeks to see it myself....
Good to see ya back on the board. I think Ford errored in not putting headrests for back seat passengers. Can't think of any other issues I have with the truck. 900 miles and this truck is fantastic. I can't say enough about it. I really love the 5.4 L engine (powerful) and am really glad I ordered that option. Averaging 16.8 mpg. Driving over 11,000ft passes in Colorado with little effort and plenty of power to spare. With respect to the interior look I certainly don't find it cheap looking; but I did not go with leather interior. Passengers who have rode in the back seat rave about the comfort, the "ride", and the ease of getting in and out. If your idle is becoming noticeable you might want to swing by the dealer and get a look at it. Computer compensation can be tricky at times. This baby is still turming heads. I have made three hundred dollars referring three customers to the salesman who sold me the truck ($100 a piece) One ride in my truck and they were out buying. Only have to refer 280 more people and the truck will pay for itself!!!!
Found the article about the Scuba Super Crew. It was a review in the Car Connection. Here's a little "cut and paste"
Making a splash at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show in Las Vegas this past November was the "Scuba SuperCrew." Designed to show "how our versatile truck line-up can be personally customized to take on any kind of outdoor activity," according to Ford design guru J Mays, the black-with-yellow accent truck wears 17-inch TSW wheels and low-profile rubber in addition to trim items specifically designed to protect the body from the harsh marine environment. Inside, the yellow-on-black theme is used extensively in the neoprene seating surfaces. Most interesting though, is the truck's equipment list, including an on-board compressor, an inflatable boat, storage centers, and diving gear for two. Scuba SuperCrew not only shows the direction pickup trucks might take, but more importantly, proves that Ford is aggressively riding oncoming waves.
That doesn't sound right. What I meant is I just bought a F150 Super Crew. Chestnut Brown and Harvest Gold 2WD Lariat. I'm almost 48 and this is my first ever Ford. I hope this works out.
chestnut is available on the supercrew? i was looking in the 01' brochure earlier and it said that the chestnut colour was not available on the supercrew, only the supercab and regular cab. is your truck the two-tone? what colour is your interior? thanks.
The Chestnut Paint was discontinued by Ford in May of this year. Unless something has changed it is not available. There are a few trucks around which were painted this color. It is still featured on the Ford Internet site and in their outdated brochures. Too bad it is a beautiful color.
Hi, I have searched this town inside out for available SC's. This was the ONLY chestnut. I read here that it had been discontinued. Thought I'd better get this one and not wait any longer. It had 98% of the options I wanted so I bought it yesterday. It has the two tone paint in Harvest gold. On the inside door panel, it appears to have a build date of July, 2000. Not sure if that's right or not. This town is ate up with black, red and white trucks. Some blue and beige. I really liked the chestnut color and noticed its rarity. Anyway, this might be the last one.... After I had the keys in my hand I mentioned the discontinued color info to the salesman and he didn't know about it. Does anyone know why it was discontinued?
You probably got one of the last ones built in that color. If the truck was ordered in May it probably was built in July. In May they were still taking Chestnut orders. Both Chestnut and Harvest Gold were discontinued. Harvest Gold was replaced with "Arizona Beige" which is a little more platinum in shade. Nothing was offered to replace the Chestnut color. They also chnged one of the greens suggested and dropped Dark Torreador Red.
The color offerings from Ford on the S-Crew are a little disappointing since they don't offer all the colors (or 2 tone combos) available on the regular F-150. I am a little envious I tried to get the same color ordered as you currently have when I ordered in June. Alas I could not. I really think it is the sharpest combo on that truck I have seen. Ended up with Deep Wedgewood Metallic Blue and Arizona Metallic Beige 2 tone with parchment interior which really looks sharp. I have not heard of any issues involving the Chestnut color.
The color scheme I wanted was not available when I ordered, so I too went with the blue/beige combo. Maybe that will be a good choice because of all the s-crews I've seen in person and on the net, I have yet to see a blue/beige combo. Mine's scheduled for delivery 10/09/00. Yahoo.
Yes, Ford could have done a much better job on the colors, especially since it's such a hot ticket item. Oh well. Like George Carlon said "You can't have everything...where would you put it?"
I think it was Steven Wright who said that. He was the super dry, flat delivery comic not visible for some years now (too dry? too flat?). He also said stuff like, "Yesterday I... Oh no. I forgot. That wasn't me."
Like a lot of guys I am color blind. Basic colors are a no brainer but I usually ask for opinions when it comes to some colors and combos. My Harley is what HD calls Aztec Orange and Diamond Ice. Basically, orange and silver. I asked for help on that one. Wife approved, family accepted. However, when I saw the chestnut/gold SC, even I could tell it was special. I guess what helped is the fact I saw so many black and red trucks. The brown really stood out.
I guarantee you the Wedgewood Blue/ Arizona Biege is a beautiful combination. I ordered it sight unseen at the recommendation of my salesman since the Chestnut was no longer available. I was really happy when I saw it on delivery. One thing kinda of neat is the color changes in the lighting conditions and is pretty cool. The bad part is waterspots but you'll have those on any dark colored paint. Always use a touchless car wash or wash by hand. Of course wipe dry to avoid spots.
I saw one of those on a lot. A neat shade of blue. That would have been my second choice. Only problem with it is it reminded me of the color scheme an old gal pal of mine had for our bedroom when we co-habitated. But that's a whole nuther story.
Has anyone installed the Velvet ride shackles and/or changed to the Edlebrock IAS shocks on their 2WD SC? Any info is appreciated. Any other susp. mods?
Does anyone like the Wedgewood Blue and the Silver tu tone? I had originally ordered the W. Blue and the Gold Harvest tu tone, but one day I saw the Blue and silver and changed my order without giving it a second thought.

Thanks for the info. Kind of figured it was going to only be available to dealers, or the people here would be using it and posting about it.
Curious about dkmoyers post in #237 about the rear end change. Have to ask our dealer about that.

Thanks for letting us know about the right gas .
I seen the 91 octane on the blueovalnews.com,
back in response #8.

Another item you may want to look at to complete the rear suspension is Roadmaster Active Suspension:
