    My supercrew has 3500 miles on it and I love it! I have only had one little problem , I noticed that my oil pressure "jumps" up and down. It only has did this a couple of times . Has anybody else had this happen?

    At the new owner's clinic I attended last week the service manager explained (in answer to a similar question about the heat gauge) that the gauges on most newer vehicles are not the infinitely variable swing needle type that they appear to be. It seems they report only in discreet segments (perhaps 4 or 5, depending on the gauge) and so would "jump" from one to the next if the reading crossed into the next segment. He said that they do "swing" upward from zero pretty smoothly when starting up and that misleads many into thinking they are infinitely variable. My guess is that these are digital behind the scenes, since everything is actually going through the computer these days. FWIW

    I just purchased a Black & Golden Harvest Tu-Tone Lariat S-Crew and it's mainly because of the help I recieved from reading all of your experiences. I went to the dealership with full intentions of ordering at no more than $100 over invoice. They happened to have one that had everything I wanted except Captains Chairs. I remembered a post here about the benefit of the front bench seat so I gave it a try and loved it. I got the 4.6 with the CD changer, cab extender, & rear window for $100 over invoice. If you're in the Dallas area Pearson Waggoner at Westway Ford will do everything he can to make a deal for you. I went to several other dealership's here who were trying to sell me at over MSRP!!!! Because of what you great people taught me everything worked out great. Thanks again!!!!

    Obviously, I'm more than a little excited. One slight scare last week - had planned on using SeaLand - they were a little less expensive - when I tried to make a reservation I learned the truck was too long and they wanted $1,440 to ship! Called Matson and I had a couple of feet to spare with them, so the shipping was $830. Whew, close call!

    I wish I had asked the dealer to take pictures. Now I just have to wait. I don't have a digital camera, but I do have a scanner, so maybe I'll put up a picture here in two weeks after my trip to Sand Island. Ordered Zaino yesterday - what's the syn oil you've been using?

    Oh - yes - the hard tonneau was installed yesterday, the bedliner the day before that. Stick around for further bulletins! I just wish I was tailgating with it this Saturday GO BOWS! oops WARRIORS!

    Hi everyone! Thanks for all the advice. I bought a Lariat (Deep Wedgewood Blue with Silver,5.4, LS, Captains Chairs,etc.) just last week. So far I love it. I got the best deal through Ford West in Bellflower--Mike Chamasmani--internet and fleet sales. I paid $250 over invoice. El Monte Ford would sell at invoice but West gave me a better trade in deal. I replaced a 92 Dodge Dakota ext.cab. What a difference! The SC is fantastic! Thanks again. Best wishes to you all.

    Why would anyone change their oil at 300 mi? Sounds like a waste of money.

    And I wanted to remove the little, itty bitty pieces of metal that were stuck to the magnet on the oil drain plug. There are so many theories on when to change the oil with no scientific evidence to back any of the theories. So at 300 miles, on a Sunday with nothing to do...changed the oil. Did that on my Denali too. I was surprised at the amount of fine metal shavings though....

    hey crew, or is that supercrew? i'm getting more serious about getting one of these. i was at the dealership today and he had a toreador red xlt 4x4 with dark graphite interior. pretty sharp! my question is...does anyone here have or no of someone who has the available moonroof? i'd like to order my truck with this option but have yet to find, let alone sit in one that does. altho the sc seems to have plenty of headroom without the sunroof, i'm still concerned. thanks for any help you can provide...

    Not a problem. I'm 6'2" and still have plenty of head/hat room.
    That roof was an option I "had" to have. I gave up a convertible in exchange for the truck. The moon roof was my compromise. No regrets. First thing I did was soak it in water. No leaks...
    All is well.

    By definition, a moonroof is glass and has a sunshade.
    A sunroof is painted on top, and therefore doesn't need a sunshade.

    Just checked VOPC and they are saying as of 9/26 that the unit was built and sent to rail ship with a delivery date of Oct 12. That is 4 days earlier than we were told last week. We ordered Aug. 23.

    lmbarber...the hubby loved your title in post 252 "I've been SCrewed". He says that's what he wants on a hat! With a picture of the truck, of course! Read on the f150online.com that Ford was sending purchasers blankets, mugs and hats. If you are out there Ford people........

    It does have a sun shade.
    The roof also opens all the way back or just tilts upwards in the back for ventilation.

    there really doesn't seem to be a particular definition, these days, for a moonroof/sunroof. i've seen a couple cars where the window sticker said it had a sunroof, yet lo and behold it was made of glass! anyway, i figured the sc did have a sunshade but was just checking before i order. thanks to lmbarber, too!

    Can you tell me how large the opening is on the truck? I'm interested in one but have not seen any on the local dealer's inventory (30+). Does it cover just the driver's area or extend back behind the seats?

    Go to mysupercrew.com and check out his photos of the moonroof and links, including the link to the ford s-crew page. On the ford s-crew page click on "details" and you'll see an icon to click which will pop up a photo of the moonroof.
    I got the moonroof when I ordered and I'm due to pick it up around the 11th.

    It just covers the front seat area. With it open, it doesn't create a wind storm for the front passenger(s). I haven't ridden in the back seat yet so I can't comment on the effect of the wind there. The aftermarketeers make a wind deflector if that is an issue with you.

    With the 3.55, the tow capacity is 8000 lbs. If you need to tow more than this, consider a super duty crew cab; you will have more choices for the rear end.

    I hauled a pallet of white marble chips last weekend, approx 2500 lbs. I realize this is over the payload, but it was a short trip, and the truck did fine with the 4x4 suspension.

    I am thinking about buying a supercrew. I'm looking at a 4x4 Lariat with the 4.6 engine. How does everyone like their's. Also how much cheaper than MSRP did most people get it for, and did Edmunds pricing help?

    I have had my Super Crew for about two months. It is the finest piece of automotive equipment I have ever owned. I can't say enough about this truck. I paid invoice price for the truck; saving about $4200 off of MSRP. Do yourself a favor and click on "See all responses" for this topic and beging reading. By the time you are done you will have few if any questions left. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience posted in the past notes of this topic including pricing and options. So read away and enjoy. By the way you should pay no more than $200 over invoice for an ordered truck and no more than 1% over invoice for one off the lot. Good Luck

    I paid $480 over dealer invoice and I still feel like I got a good deal. Yea, it's more than most here paid for theirs but, its all in how you look at it. This truck is just awesome. After two months people are still looking at it when I am driving down the street.
    And 3fan2, drive both the 4.6 and the 5.4 trucks. And get the one you like most, I don't think you could go wrong with either one of them.

    I will chime in with experience from, at last check, 2400 miles on my new 2X4 Lariat. I agree with all the other accolades, a really great vehicle. I bought the 4.6 due to mileage concerns and am averaging 16 in city/hwy, not too bad. And I do not lack for power, granted in Houston everything is flat. If in the hills or mountains, maybe I would have had gone for the larger engine. I added SS Leverne cab steps I was able to get at cost and saved $250! I have 3 girls and they just LOVE Dad's truck, the oldest at 15 is driving it to the envy of ALL her friends.
    Only thing that I am considering: changing out the center console for the higher version that doubles as an armrest. When putting on seat belts the arm rests get in the way, and the Expedition Sport center console would be much easier to manage. I would think about that when you are looking at the Lariats with captains chairs. Not sure if they can do anything at the factory, but maybe the dealer can. NOT a big deal, just a refinement.

    I just bought a 2001 F150 Super Crew Cab Lariat
    4x4 but the antenna is "fixed" and hits the top of
    my garage door (standard sized garage). Are there
    any "fixes" to this problem short of cutting off the antenna that comes with the truck?

    I have that same proble. I don't think it is going to cause any problems as far as the antennae is concerned. I did see a post somewhere on this board where someone replaced the factory antennae with a shorter one and did not reduce their ability to recieve radio stations. I may do the same. If someone reading this has replaced the antennae I would be interested in knowing what and where they got i, and how it is working out.

    I just put my deposit down on my Wedgwood Blue 4X4 with a Moon roof. Hope to drive it before New Year's! I have many years experience in autosound design and installation and I can tell you without a doubt changing the antenna most certainly will degrade your reception. Most car radios are designed for an antenna (FM) that is 31 inches tall. Although some manufacturers get by with less they designed their radio for a specific antenna and build in special circuits to compensate. The best thing to do would be put in a power retractable antenna. When they are extended, they are the full 31 inches and down they are flush with the fender eliminating the temptation for someone walking by to tweak it. They cost about $60 and maybe $50 labor. I’ll be doing my own.

    Thanks for the info on the antennae. I think I'll just not worry about as only the top 2 inches cath the top of the garage opening as I pull in and really puts no serious bend or stress on the antennae. By the way you are going to love that Deep Wedgewood Blue color. I have it and it is really fantastic! As is the whole truck!!!

    Let me echo Mtn Mike's comments. I have had my SCrew for three weeks and have driven it over 2400 miles. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Don't let mileage concerns scare you away from the 5.4 either. I have averaged over 19.5 on the road and over 16 on mixed city/highway tanks. The 4.6 seemed to have a nice extra punch over the old ones, but I found the one I wanted on a lot with the 5.4. I paid invoice for mine when I used a fax bid request letter to 14 different dealers within a 100 miles of my home. Played them off against each other to get the best deal on the SCrew I wanted. Also did not want to wait to order one, so I got one from a dealer stock.

    Go for it and be glad you did!

    I have been looking at the standard/option list for the Supercrew, and did not see any mention of heated mirrors. Does anyone know if the Supercrew comes with these, and if not are they available as and option or aftermarket item? Thanks in advance.

    NEW SUPERCREW for a few seconds to let you all know that I will be driving and driving and driving!!! I have to echo everyone's sentiment - I LOVE IT!!! Those armrests on the captain's chairs missed the engineering dept. somehow... too short for me and also would be nice if they were wider, but one minor little detail on an otherwise perfect vehicle - I can handle it! The tonneau cover (fiberglass and color-matched) gave me nightmares wondering if it was going to look okay - I ordered sight-unseen, just trusted the dealer - looks AWESOME!!!! Really classy - paid $1,035 for it so I was keeping my fingers crossed. It completely covers the bed rails and it locks! Can't wait for Saturday's game - tailgating will be vastly improved - they just have to win this one GO BOWS!!! Oh well, even if they don't - I feel like a winner.

    Extang makes all three models to fit the 2001 Super Crew. The dealer I bought one from stock's Black Max and said he could get any model in two to three days.

    guess what, folks? i'm actually taking delivery of a silver/wedgewood blue 4x4 supercrew (dark graphite interior) on thursday. a test drive last week convinced me that this is the pickup truck i need and want! it has the 5.4l ohc engine, captains chairs, electric driver seat - auto headlamps, trailer tow package, factory running boards, 6 disc cd changer and limited slip rear axle. i currently own a y2k intrepid es and am leasing a 99 ranger (lease up december 1). i've decided to scale back to one vehicle and the supercrew fits the bill! checked out the dakota quad cab but it was just a little too small and i like to have room. would have prefered a supercrew with moonroof but those were hard to come by. anyway, i'll chime back in later this week after i get some seat time. i do have one question right out of the box. what oil is recommended for the 5.4l? when i looked under the hood yesterday at the dealership i noticed markings of 5w20 or something similar. this is strange to me as all the vehicles i've owned in the last decade have taken 5w30 or 10w30. thanks for any input.
