Hi, sorry for the confusion. When I said "picked up", I didn't mean actually picking it up. I made a deposit and signed all the paper.

The deal was orginally 27900 and i made them throw in the remote starter for $100. I'm not sure if it requires a separate remote or you could just use the lock button... I've heard two different versions.

anyways, what do you guys think about this deal? Should I have gotten more for the trade?
  • pw_18pw_18 Member Posts: 1
Sounds like a pretty good deal - funny I was just planning to go to that same dealership this week. Any specific comments on the buying experience there? Or what their inventory is like (I was thinking S-type but might consider base)?
  • supatnsupatn Member Posts: 3
The people there are pretty friendly, their prices and trade-in values are both better than Prime Acura. It seemed to me like the managers were trying a lot harder to get rid of their 08's.

I just purchased a base 2008 TL silver/ebony (no dealer options) on Friday in Little Rock, AR. I paid $28,000 cash (excl. TTL) and no trade-in.

It seems to me that there are too many posts that can't be used for comparison. Some people don't mention any dealer installed options or whether they financed or what the exact model and miles of their trade-in. Also, TTL varies by state so is it relevant to even mention? Just my two cents worth...

I saw this price today on carsdirect with 0.9% APR financing. Does any think I can get it lower than this at the dealership?
  • metalblazemetalblaze Member Posts: 40
IMO, if this is the OTD pricing, then its quite decent - although you could perhaps bargain a couple of hundred $$. But, if the pricing excludes TTL, then you could certainly do a bit better.

BTW, do you mind telling where you saw this pricing? Good luck!

"BTW, do you mind telling where you saw this pricing?"

    I meant which location/zipcode.....

    Hi,

Looks like you got a great car at excellent savings. The hosts of this forum have mentioned in prior posts how one should separate out the cost of individual items so we can all make comparisons, but alas it is what it is.

I'm very happy with my TL-S, the only 3 "very minor" complaints I have is that the XM radio quality and reception in CT in my vehicle is sporadic, goes out when traveling under an overpass (not tunnel) - compared to CD, sonically it can't hold water - love the selection, but sound quality and reliability is absent.

The fuel gauge must be based on procrastinators, as the fuel low light comes on at approximately 12.4 gallons, when there should be another 4.7 gallons in the tank - I wish it would give me a warning at 14 to 15 gallons.

The last complaint is that the michelin all season pilot tires just don't cut it - not that great in the rain and I will use the wife's Rav 4 with 4WD in winter to commute as these tires surely won't keep one on the road in snowy conditions (confirmed by Consumer Reports).

    Silverbullettl - enjoy your car!!!

    Mike

    I'm negotiating with dealer.
    Are these OTD prices good?
    $29,800 for base model
    $31,800 for base + Navigation

    I'm in bay area.
  • brygobrygo Member Posts: 12
That's a pretty good price. The lowest quote that I got for base with Navi is $30K + TTL. Would you mind share the name of the dealership?

Just got a quote from dealer 29700 OTD in Philadelphia. Is this a good deal. If it's good I gonna go for it.
  • drosadrosa Member Posts: 24
That is a good Price. I just put a deposit for TL BASE $30,K OTD in NJ (NJ Tax is 7%). I probably could do better if I wait a bit but Carbon Bronze w\ Ebony is getting hard to find.
  • stripe1stripe1 Member Posts: 72
You guys are both way off. I paid 29,992 at Boardwalk Acra on Tilton Rd outside of Antlantic City, for a TL w/Navigation. Plus, I received trunk tray, wheel locks, matching color mud guards and door edge guards included in the price. I tried Sussman, and other Acura dealers, and Boardwalk beat them all. I may have drove 25 miles to Boardwalk, but it was well worth it. My TL is red in color.
  • drosadrosa Member Posts: 24
Is that your Total Out the Door Price? I don't have a trade. My Negotiated price is $27500
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
Could you please specify the dealer name? I am looking for a deal around Philadelphia. Thanks.
  • stripe1stripe1 Member Posts: 72
I had a trade of $18,000, which left me a $11,992 balance. Add sales tax to that balance plus DOC of $190.00, and tags of apprx. $55.00. If your buying with no trade then you will have to add 7% sales tax to price paid, + DOC, and tags. My final balance was $13,100. Also, had painted pin stripe along with mud guards, door edge guards (matching color), trunk tray, and wheel locks, all at no charge. I wanted a Carbon Bronze, but they had none, so I settled for red which my wife like. I do like white, especially when make up is added to the outside. I wanted a base TL, but when my wife drove one with navigation it was over, the nav won out.
  • cobexuecobexue Member Posts: 7
The dealer is Sussman at Jenkintown.
  • cobexuecobexue Member Posts: 7
Yes, this is OTD. Could you please tell me where is your dealer? It's a very strong price. Is this a Sales Price including Destination Charge?
  • yehyemyesyehyemyes Member Posts: 36
    Thanks. will definitely check.

Just picked up a 2008 TL Navi Black on Black.
I just have to say I did a lot of shopping around and found the experience at Acura of Thousand Oaks to be wonderful.
They have only been open for a few months.
I have purchased a few Acura’s in my time all from the internet.
They have a new General Sales Manager there that use to be at Santa Monica.
We purchased our car from him a few years ago because he was a straight shooter.
The selection is good and everyone in the dealership was helpful and courteous.
We paid just under 30K plus ttl including mudguards wheel locks and trunk tray.
We considered the 2009 TL but there does not seem to be much wiggle room yet however he did tell me that he would do something off the sticker but is was by no means compared to the discount on the 08.
  • robywangrobywang Member Posts: 8
The dealer agreed on $30,100 OTD for base with door edge guards and splash guards, but they don't have the color I want.
They wanted $33,000 OTD for base w/ Navi, no accessories. I declined.
It's the Hopkins Accura at Redwood City, CA.

would you mind sharing your OTD figure?
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
Hey guys (and gals), I assume you can all do a little math to get your own OTD prices based on the state taxes where you live? But asking others in the forum to give OTD prices is [non-permissible content removed] backwards and makes cross state comprisons messy. Do they live in Delaware (0 sales tax), California (8%+) or somewhere in-between. In PA, you only pay tax on the difference between a new car and a dealer trade, so my OTD price was meaningless to anybody without a trade, when I had one worth $22k and only paid taxes on a $10k difference. In some states, the sales tax varies county by county. You don't really want to get that personal trying to compare prices, do you??

I suggest posting and asking for the bottom line cash price (including dealer add ons), but before sales tax . That's the only way to compare apples to apples, unless you are really into other fruits and useless comparisons. And if you are old enough to drive, but didn't learn decimal multiplication by the 4th grade, move to Delaware and you'll still be fine ;)

Can anybody share their buying experience/ prices for the 2009 TL????
In full agreement with habitat1 when he suggests that members of this forum inform the OTD as the price paid or quoted with all the fees... but before the sales tax.

I have been told that due to the current financial situation and the unfortunate timing for the release into the marketplace of the new 2009 TL they would be offering a some kind of manufacturer's marketing asistance... anybody heard about this???

    Thanks
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
man, I am so glad that someone else pointed this out!. I dont know if it is layziness or lack of time that some posters here have, but just like you, I wish people here stop posting OTD prices. Heck, I wish that OTD letters did not exist. Its like comparing apples to golf clubs...exactly, no relevance whatsoever.

I've posted before that all we need to do is post the price of the car you are getting or already bought (cap cost in case of a lease) and that will help us, potential buyers, much better that that OTD crap. Also the details of the deal in case that you got goodies (mud flaps, mats, wheel locks, etc).

Anyways, let me go back to look what Apple is doing today to see if I can afford the car again...damm market!

To everyone who is supporting the "first time" Acura buyers...a big thank you. I am looking at a 2007 TL BASE model listed at $27,990 at Park Acura - OHIO

    Miles: 15,879
    Exterior Color: White Diamond Pearl
    Interior Color: Tan Leather
    Transmission: 5-Speed Automatic w/OD

Working with the dealer he agreed on $8,000 for my 03 VW Jetta with 90k miles, which they originally offered $5,500. I asked for $8,000 because Edumnds.com has that as the trade-in value.

After 3hrs the dealer dropped the price to $27k from $28k and agreed to $8k for the Jetta. Explained that he was giving a "great price" for my Jetta. Funny how that is the same price as edmunds this is a "great price."

I feel that they can come off the 28k original price and apply the $8k for the Jetta. These figures don’t include taxes or fees, anyone with insight?

    Hello,

I am looking to get a TL Type-S and was wondering if anyone had purchased one in the Chicago area recently. Would appreciate if you could share information on the price and the dealership.

Also -can the $3,500 rebate be combined with the 36 month 0.9% APR financing?

    Thanks!
  • robywangrobywang Member Posts: 8
$3500 and 0.9% apr can be combined.
  • msballsitchmsballsitch Member Posts: 1
For $27K (before TTL) you can get a 2008TL base model. Call around to other dealers in Cincy, Columbus, and Cleveland. Give the dealer you price and stick to it. Don't negotiate up from the price or you lose the upper hand.

Even with the market being up yesterday, people are not buying cars right now and it will get worse by the end of the year for the dealers.
  • habitat1habitat1 Member Posts: 4,282
From what I have seen and heard, you ought to be able to get a brand new 2008 TL for around $28,000 with the current incentives. If that's the case, the price on a used 07 w/15k miles is absurdly high. I wouldn't pay any more than $23-24k.

Unfortunately, the current market conditions also mean that dealers aren't willing to give much in trade in. And Edmund's prices probably don't reflect that. My Acura dealer in western PA offered me a spectacular deal on a new 2008 MDX Sport ($38,500 price on a MSRP of over $45k). But then only offered us $15k on our 2005 which, according to Edmunds, should be worth $21k+. They weren't trying to screw us, as the price on the new MDX was fantastic - it's just that used prices have suffered as well. Frankly, a 6 year old 90k mile VW isn't exactly a sexy trade and they may be planning on having to send it to auction.

My recommendation is that you first negotiate a good cash price on the TL. And then, if you don't like the trade-in they offer, sell your VW privately. But going back and forth on two negotiations simultaneously is playing into the hands of the dealer. And I also recommend that, if they don't get MUCH more realistic on the price of the used 07, you shop around for a new 08. The deals are out there.

Enjoy your car. I don't care for the 09s. I now have 5K miles on my 08 S and the mileage is much better than the sticker. Just got 33 and 32 MPG on 280 mile trips. This is actually better than my 01 Accord V-6.

I agree with some of the posters. I’ve been following up this forum for a couple of months.
people posting brand new 2008 base TL for around $28,000, some posted even less then that.

Plus you can get much better financing on the new model. I think 0.9% -36 or 2.9%- 60 month.
Check out incentives and rebates on the new cars section. And you can combine this with $3500 cash back
  • sanjaysdcasanjaysdca Member Posts: 269
You should be able to pick up a NEW 2008 for 28 to 28.5K.
I just priced @ 29.3K one in on carsdirect.com in zipcode 44016 (Cleveland Heights area...use to live there while back).

As far as VW goes get a REAL value by posting on
real world trade in values board here on edmunds..
    Then advertise it on craiglist

    my two cents

Went to a dealer in Maryland and the salesman told me that they had not sold any of the new 09 TL to date. Called them the next day and spoke to mgr and he would only take $200 of the sticker. Hard to believe that a dealer that has not sold 1 TL is not starting to discount.

Did call another and spoke to someone that I have delt with in the past. He said that his mgr would work with me when I came in. Might check it out this weekend.

Where did you hear your info? I have been checking around and have not heard anything as of yet.

I picked up a 2008 TL w/navi with 10 miles on it, this past weekend for $28800 plus fees. Took a week's worth of internet shopping and follow up E-Mails and a few phone calls in the end. Very happy in the end. This is in Central Florida.

Acura is not currently providing lease support on either the 2008 or the 2009 Acura TL right now. As a result, if you were to lease one through Honda Finance, you would have to use its standard lease money factors. Its current buy rate standard lease money factor is .00290 for consumers who qualify for its "Super Preferred" credit tier and pay a security deposit at lease signing.

Acura is providing $2,500 dealer cash on the '08 TL right now though.

12w08: I strongly feel that you made a typing error on your numbers. Shouldn't it read $29,800? What's the dealer's name that sold you the TL?
  • traindrivertraindriver Member Posts: 328
Could you please specify the dealer name? I am looking for a deal around Philadelphia. Thanks.

There's a dealer in Baltimore advertising $28K for the base TL.
Add $2300 for navi and back up camera.
Search "2008 Acura TL" on Ebay.
    Frankel Acura; Cockeysville MD

FWIW....or use this as a negotiating tool with you preferred dealer.

Thanks for confirming, however I know what I bought and paid. It was $28,800.00 for a 2008 TL Navi. I had to drive 235 miles to pick it up. Phil Smith Acura had offered $29,000.00 for the same car. Esserman beat them and were very straight forward.

i tried both esserman and phil smith for a 08 tl with navi, esserman said if someone is offering me a navi unit at 29k to not walk but RUN to get it. they said there is no way they can even touch 29k!! phil smith wouldnt touch 29 k either!!!

So now you are calling me a liar. I am not. I only dealt with the Internet Sales manager at each dealership, and the GSM made the offers from each. If you can't negotiate as well as I, please do not hate me. Perhaps they think you are not serious. I started on a Sunday with the e-mails and took delivery on a Saturday. No muss, no fuss. Lowest deal was taken for what I wanted.
  • acuramantl2acuramantl2 Member Posts: 11
WOOOO no one is calling you a liar. simply stating what was relayed. you obviously got a great Deal. nothing to take affense at. ;) no one is saying you lied. you know how dealers are...
  • lax29lax29 Member Posts: 42
So I guess it safe to assume that no one here has actually bought a 09 TL???

Strange that one dealer told me they haven't sold one yet and another told me that they are a hot item? Then again, I am talking to a dealership.

I have my 08 for 6 months now and I just noticed that when I open my rear windows and driving around 40 - 45 miles, it makes a loud noise that is very bothersome. Has anyone in this forum had the issue? Should I be worry and take it in to get it checked? Any information is much appreciated. Thx.
  • traindrivertraindriver Member Posts: 328
Is it a wind buffeting type noise? (also known as the "helicopter effect")
If so, just slightly open another window -- it will go away.

    If not, I don't know...good luck.
