Is it directly wired into your stereo or do you have to put it on a specific FM station?
I got a 7" Audiovox overhead player installed by my Lexus dealer, but I'm not happy with the sound since I have to put it on a specific FM station...of course, I could avoid that if my kids would keep their headphones on.
Although I prefer direct connect for better sound, FM module is fine since they are for my kids.
I've been offered the same vehicle for $44,500 in New Jersey.
But anyway, the dealer does pay an Add fee to Lexus and some dealers consider the car prep as an invoice cost. I have been quoted around $300 for this prep. Total BS, but that is the way it is with some dealers. Other dealers don't have the prep fee but ALL that I have talked with had the add fee. (it is actually a little under $600)
By the way, I noticed fleetrates.com was selling this GX470 as equipped above for $43,975. That is almost invoice. (may need to add shipping cost)
Thanks
And once the '05's come out, they should be out of '04's, and the '05's are going to go up in price.
I believe that GX470 04 can use 89Oc,and KDSS is option in any model if it is available, however, the GX470 05 must use over 91Oc, and the KDSS is option only on sport model.
I will get you the price of Fl when it come next day for 04.
the model the same, why you want to spend more $ for 05, where you might still have chance to buy 04 5-6K less if it is available.
i was told 05s coming any day!!
any more info on sports package?
thnx
I got a price from Costco dealer - 2K over invoice.
Few questions:
- Is the 3rd Roll Seats still a promotion for 04 GX?
- Should I get the 04 or 05 model? How much discount can I get for 04 now since 05 is around the corner.
- What's the fair $ amount I should offer the dealer for 04 and 05? I know the "hold-back" is $900 according to consumer reports.
- What's the best way to sell my 99 CLK430? Trade-in or sell it myself. I know the manheim auction price so how do I negotiate with the dealer?
Thanks for your insight.
One of the "big" reasons you prefer the 04 to 05 GX470 is that the 05 requires premium gas and the 04 only "recommends" premium. So you are about to spend $45-50k on a "premium" luxury vehicle, but want the older model with a 7+ year old engine, rather than the newer one with a more powerful and more fuel efficient variable valve engine that finally incorporates technology that Acura, BMW and Mercedes have been using for 5-7+ years?
Premium gas in our area runs about 10-15 cents a gallon more than regular, less if you buy Exxon on "Thrifty Thursdays". In 120,000 miles of driving at an average of 15-18 miles per gallon, you will consume about 7,000 gallons of gas. So that extra price for premium would cost you $700 to $1,000, ASSUMING you didn't get lower gas mileage from regular. Less of a savings if you did.
We are considering an 04 GX 470 because we can get a loaded one for $1,000 over invoice. A 2005, with the price increase (3rd row, etc) and lack of negotiating advantage would effectively cost us $3,500-4,000+ more.
So, I can see a significant purchase price advantage for getting a 2004. But if you think a antiquated engine (compared to the aforementioned premium competition) that will possibly save you $700 over the life of the vehicle by using regular gas is a "big" advantage, perhaps you should consider a Honda Pilot and save $20k in price and get 20% better gas mileage than the GX470 to boot. With all due respect, I think you are pinching pennies a little too hard on assessing the regular gas advantage of a 2004 over a 2005. And, as was beaten up previously, the 2004 recommends premium.
P.S. Early reports peg the gas mileage of the 2005 as the same as the 2004. However, friends who traded an older BMW X5 4.4 for a 2004 with the "valvetronic" engine have seen a 2-3 mpg increase, in addition to much improved acceleration. As a matter of fact, the 4.4 V8 now has higher EPA ratings than the 3.0 I6. I would not be surprised to find that the "real world" gas mileage of the 2005 GX470 improves over the 2004.
Thanks
Please let us know the dealership and pricings you have obtained for the 2004 GX470
thx
AC
this is S. fl, Miami & Ft. Lauderdale so probably similar market.
3rd rool seat is free on GX470 04, I jsut bought one yesterday fully loaded with $6000 of MSRP.
take your car to Carmax and see how much they pay you, then check the dealer for trade in, then try to put it on Ebay for the reserve you want.
There is dealer in NJ I belive called carl... can get you very good price through the internet, and call him later.
I check the price in FL and NJ, and I got in from TX.
if you have the KS,NL,RES and TH loaded with Mich tires $47,000 should be very good number.
I believe the dealship of German Lex of naple can get you this price.
what is your out of door price (before tax & tag)? I am thinking about buying in CA - LA area... so, all you CA folks please chime in on your best price & experience
thx
Art
yes, you can get it from FL, naple at german lex, I guess the name, or from TX, hou at sterling Mc.But, without KS NJ at Kar.. something, sorry, I forgot the names.
the best to do is to ask for the prices through edmund with a different zip code, then, you have to negotiate when they will call you after sending them your order.
Good Luck
The lowest '04 I can find is $44k so it is only $2k difference.
With few month waiting and $2k extra, I will get:
- $3k more when I sell it because it is 1 model year newer (according to Manheim transactions)
- Bluetooth, very useful
- Better Nav
- 35 more horse power
Please share your opinion. Thanks
Still I believe it's worth every penny for the same reasons you mentioned.
Bottom line! You can get a better deal than what the dealer quoted. At least for the second allocation (end-of-december).
In fact I've just read on the club lexus forum that $2,000 above invoice is out-there as well.
Thanks,
I will wait few months so I can get $5000 off MSRP.
The small price difference between 04 and 05 is not worth the huge improvements:
- $3k more when I sell it because it is 1 model year newer (according to Manheim transactions)
- Bluetooth, very useful
- Better Nav
- 35 more horse power
- and more...
The deal I got on the 2005 was Invoice plus $2800. The broker did not charge any Dealer handling fee. The local dealers charged an average of $350 for that, so it was really like paying $2450 over invoice. An equivalent 2004 (same options) would have run me $3800 less (basic invoice is $400 higher, plus $1600 for 3rd row seat, plus $2800 over instead of $1000 over). I felt it was worth the extra $3800 to get the better engine, and upgraded NAV, and not have a car that will seem like a year old 3 weeks after I get it. Resale will be that much better also. I got the following options:
NAV/ML Sound,
Rear Entertainment,
3rd Row Seat,
Gold Trim,
Rear Spoiler,
Trunk Mat & Wheel locks,
Tow hitch with ball mount,
Chrome exhaust tips.
Invoice was $47,565 + $2800 markup + $1863 for 3.7% sales tax = $52,228 total out the door cost.
I did not haggle as much for the 2005 as I did when trying to buy a 2004. Once I found the best source for 2004, I used the same guy and paid what he asked for the 2005. I maybe could have haggled him down a few hundred more, but I was getting tired after weeks of shopping and just wanted to close the deal. I ended up paying more than $4000 below MSRP, so I think I did pretty well considering prices are a bit higher here in CO. Costco wanted $2000 below MSRP, and the one dealer I discussed 2005's with said they would be going for about $1000 below MSRP when they came in.
When considering 2004's I thought about waiting for the 2005's to come in figuring that may drive down the price of 2004's further, or a rebate would be offered. My broker speculated this would not happen. He said lots of people hold out for the last 2004's figuring they will get a great price. Dealers know this and hold the line on price because they know there will be plenty of people looking to pick up those last few cars for a "bargain". Time will tell if this is true. In my case, it was only a $3800 difference between 2004 and 2005.
Thanks to all who post here. It helped me a lot in my search. I can't wait for delivery!
Thanks.
Your insight is appreciated.
Also, I live in Chicago, IL. What is your suggestion for the best price over invoice on the 05 with Navi/3rd row seat that stickers at $51,787. thanks
MSRP w/ Destination $52,338
Invoice $45,091
Holdback $916
Dealer Actual Cost $44,175
+ $3000 Dealer Margin = $47,175
We should be able to get this setup at about $47k which already accounted the $3000 dealer margin. Don't expect able to get it right now, go buy it in JAN/FEB month end the slowest two months.
Thanks
