The only problem I've had is that the driver door doesn't open some cold mornings from the outside. I have to open the rear door and then get the driver door open from the inside. I will get the dealer to adjust the latch.
kgrantc...you might try a ZIEBART dealer for the RHINO liner...that is where I had mine done just a few hours from you in Bloomington/Normal. Had RHINO for about one month now and love it!! Have referred to other people to the same dealer and both have been VERY happy with the results. Heck, might even be worth the drive down here if you can't find someone up there. Rhino does have a website in which you can locate a dealer. I think the site is RHINOLINER.com, or close to that.
Gofordgo...the priority level is the "rating" the factory gives to the order. The lower the number you get the better. I believe it was stated in a previous post that the best a dealer can assign is a priority "10". Anything lower, I belive a regional/district rep has to approve/input into the system.
Line-X has a dealer locater on their website at www.line-x.com.
jraske, you may have pulled up next to a sports car and didn't know it. Next time you get to a red light, hop out and look under the truck.
sprintnut... 2 months since order & still no schedule? that looks like an allocation issue. did you receive an actual copy of your DORA? as "hot" as these trucks are, though, should you abandan the ship at this juncture? what is the dealer's attitude? if it's don't give a damn-like (as you seemed to indicate) that makes it a really tough call. if you're chomping at the bit like most of us you don't want to throw 2 months away. I'd talk with the dealer (possibly go to the sales manager or perhaps even the owner). try to get some honest answers in regard to allocation. let them know that you are well informed about such issues. kind-of "feel them out". also, if you decide to walk from the deal... your deposit ought to be refundable. personally? I'd walk if my overall "gut" feeling was that I'm being "jacked around". there are many great dealers out there. people that are doing their damnest to make you a "happy camper". but like everything in life, there's always the "other" side present. some on this site have gotten scheduled within a week of placing their order (it took about 2 1/2 weeks from order to scheduled for us). so if you find a dealer that does have good allocation (best if you go with a truck only dealer) you may not wait much longer even if you walk... as there's no guarantee that the truck will get scheduled thru your present dealer any quicker).
crazyelvis... time is getting closer for us. the vopc is no longer updating our truck... (they "lost" it over the holiday) for some reason. Ken didn't call them because Gator already had the invoice in hand for the truck (and therefore the vopc dudes remain unaware that anything is wrong in regard to updates). so we don't really know where the truck is right now. but... it ought to be sitting in the same rail yard yours was in as the truck left the factory a couple of weeks ago. Ken says most trucks get to the dealership about 7-10 days after they receive the invoice for it. they've had the invoice since last Tuesday (a week) so we are looking for the beast any day. is your truck wearing a "Gator" emblem? as long as they don't bore any holes, we'd like to display their emblem in our area... kind-of tells the admirer's where it came from (because they sure the hell ain't going to get it around here!).
Estimated delivery date is 10 Jan 00. So, yes indeed it does look like they will be real busy after the Holidays as others above are looking for theirs around the same time period.
I would tell them to drop the audio (except the speakers) if they give me a $$ credit and I could get earlier delivery. Then I'd get a system on my own after delivery.
On order w/DORA of 11/2: F350 CC auto V10 4x4 3.73LS LB SRW
Thanks in advance.

After lurking here for about a month, I went out and ordered a SuperDuty today!
2000 F250 Lariat, CC, 4X4, PSD with all the goodies!
The dealer is supposed to fax me a copy of the DORA by the end of the week. He assured me that he would put the order in with a priority of 10.
For those of you looking to order - the Edmunds "how to buy" advice says get to the fleet guy if you can. I was able to get to the fleet guy by accident - I sent email to three different dealers asking for a quote on one a truck. At each dealership, the Fleet Guy, who also happens to be the Internet Sales Guy, answered my inquiry.
Question for those of you who ordered in the past: When I got home this evening, I was looking over the "Vehicle Order Confirmation" that the fleet guy ran while I was there to get the pricing right, and I noticed a line item called either PDAP Assessment or FDAF Assesment (I cannot quite read the letters). The charge is $160. Anyone know what this is for?
The dealer I went through (Sound Ford, near Seattle) is reputed to do a large volume of trucks, so I am hoping to get a good turn-around on my order!
Thanks for all the advice and information!

I did not get charged an advertising fee. I bought from Highland Park Ford, IL.
Brutus, thanks for line-x info.
After assuming all along that my garage door height is 7 foot, I measured it last night and it turned out to be 80 inches to the plastic weather stripping. Looked at the Ford literature and the closest thing I could find is a 350 4x4 that measures in at 79.8 inches. However, the information doesn't say anything about the size of tires.
HHHHeeeeelllllppppp!!!! Does anyone know what the actual height (measured versus info in a brochure) is from top of cab to floor of a 250 CC 4x4 short bed with 265 tires? I didn't order the clearance lights thank goodness.
The beauty of the internet is that when you screw up bad you don't have to look around to see if anyone saw. I did borrow a SD CC SB before I ordered to see if it would fit in the garage and it worked fine ... only problem was it wasn't a 4x4 with the extra height.
Guess I could just leave it loaded to lower it or raise my garage because I sure don't want to let this baby go.
Lewac.....Yes they put a silver looking dohickey on the back by the ford emblem....and you get a license plate holder....FREE!!! I think the thing on the tailgate can be removed easily....I think it looks alright so I haven't taken it off...it has thier logo...little gator and the words gator ford....I have seen some BIG trucks around that they sell.....dump trucks etc....they have actual vinyl letters for the logo...and they are placed in the rear and up on the doors or the front quarter panels......
And Viper....who is he??? ignore....hmmmmmmmm...that shouldn't be to hard!!
Gas tank recall....FOR WHAT???!!!
Unless there is something wrong with my math above, I think you might want to consider increasing the height of your garage door opening. My truck is currently parked at another facility while my carpenters work on my garage. It's not fun at all...........but should be well worth the comfort.
If you measure yours let me know what you get. It will be interesting to see if we come up with the same answer.
Noise - interesting that someone would ask. I rolled down my window at a light to see if my PSD sounded any different and I didn't hear any more noise with the window down than up. It does seem to run quieter once it is warmed up. Also, it runs real quiet down hill. Its just a little loud up hill but it definitely moves up hill!
Plan to refuel tomorrow - will post mileage.
I've been plugging block heaters in so long that I never really spend long enough to listen. I'm pretty sure there is some sound when you first plug it in. I could be wrong, but I think it works, kind of, like a thermostat. It's only on when the engine is not at a certain temp. The manual says that you only need to plug it in for a couple hours, but it also says that the engine won't overheat if you leave it plugged in overnight. The ideal situation is to plug it into a plug that is connected to a light switch in the house. That way you can turn it on from inside.
On the subject of block heaters, up here in Anchorage, we actually have commercials that encourage you to plug in your vehicle. It's for environmental reasons. Our air quality isn't as good in the winter because people let their cars idle and warm up before getting in. Auto-start systems are real popular up here. They run about $500 on average. I would own one if I could justify the cost. Instead I just put on my coat and sprint outside about 10 minutes early to start the truck. I do this even when I plug it in. The heat may crank out right away when it's plugged in, but that doesn't change the fact that on a morning like this morning, it's still only -5 in the cab and the windows are iced up. 10 minutes later, it's nice and warm and the windows are clear.
My CD player has worked great. I have been able to get it to skip occasionally, but it takes a good bump, like crossing a railroad track at hwy speeds.
It's been clear and bit cold the past few days, but gorgeous. On my road trip Monday, I saw Denali (Mt. McKinley to those of you in the lower 48) for hours. It was awesome with the sun reflecting off it and the blue sky behind it. When the sun set, the mountain turned pink. Just another day in paradise.....
It's $160 on my truck. Since I got a decent deal ($400 over) to start with, I am not going to get excited over it.
Just gonna sit back and hope my truck gets here soon...
I am wondering what the differance is in 3.73 of 4.10? What is acceleration like with either?
Would it be better with the 4.10 LS ?
How is the gas milage with either combination?
I still have time to change my order so I need all the feedback I can get
My Y2K F350 finally ordered this week.
LARIAT WAS TOLD TO EXP IT THE
MID OF JAN. THE FEE WAS 165 IN
NEW YORK. I TOLD THE DEALER TO
ORDER IT WITHOUT ANY FORD
EMBLEMS ON IT,OR THE COMPANY CAN
PAY ME FOR ADVETISING,AFTER ALL
IT IS MY TRUCK BOUGHT AND PAYED
FOR. WILL SEE WHAT HAPPINESS.
I don't know that the block heater cycles on and off. I've never stood out there and listened to it. I do know that the manual says it won't overheat if you leave it plugged in for extended periods, but I have no idea how the thing works. I only know that it does work.
Northpole, I'd say I feel your pain, but we're downright tropical here in Anchorage compared to you folks in the interior. We're currently right at zero.
I know nobody asked, but my 99 V-10 with 4.30 axle ratio turns about 2400 rpms at 70.
MPG is averaging about 15.5 with mixed driving city/highway. I think the mpg will gain slightly as the truck breaks in. (only 1900 miles on it so far).
Acceleration is reasonable and is easily able to keep up with normal traffic off of stop lights, and I even have to shift gears.
Hills are no problem and I never have to shift outof OD.
Don't get me wrong, its no V10, and your not gonna outrun the average sports car if they decide to 'get on it', but you won't be holding up any traffic either..
In your case, with the little extra weight of the CC, you may want to consider the 4.10 rear end..
I test drove another 4x4 5.4l SC auto 4.10, and my truck feels a little more responsive, probably cause my truck is 4x2 and manual tranny.
Also, if your doing mostly 'mixed' driving (city/highway), I think the 4.10 mpg will be the same as the 3.73, as your able to spend more time in OD etc..
Of course, on strictly highway, the 3.73 will have an mpg advantage..
Also, if you go with the 4.10, you can get a limited slip rear end, which I always recommend..
....Another thing to consider is mirror width. I have the power tt mirrors and posted measurements some time ago, but if I recall...measurement across the truck with mirrors telescoped in was 84"...both mirrors telescoped out 90". Another thing to be careful of with single garage doors!!
time4family: Brutus got it right in post 91 concerning your defrost only problem. The wire under the dash on the passenger side he refers to is actually a vacuum line that controls vent activation in the heating/AC system. There is a vacuum connection in that under dash area that can be kicked or pulled loose. The default selection for the system if the vacuum line is interrupted is defrost. Hope this helps.
Dave
My options are:
1-FM changer
2-Pay Ford for a new installed In-dash for about $500
or
3- Does anyone know if the wiring or install size has changed from '99 to '00. If it is the same, do you think I could get a salvage yard to find me a '99 in-dash?
I really don't want the changer nor an aftermarket in-dash because the face plates are not even close to the original so there would be an ugly black filler plate. Not appealing.
Thanks for all your help guys.
y2k f-250 sd, 4wd, lariat, cc, srw, v-10, auto, AM-FM CD player (jepsonfam) , 3.73 ls, two tone paint...Ordered 8-31, DORA 9-1, serialized 10-9.
So, what happens next and any ideas when?
FYI, I checked VOPC at 8:45 am EST and got the news and then my salesman called at 9:05 am to tell me. At least they are checking.
brutus: Sometimes I envy you folks down there in the "banana belt". If we could get to zero I'd wash my wife's car.
