Did you recently take on (or consider) a loan of 84 months or longer on a car purchase?

I have an aftermarket security system (CompuStar) and to disarm my security system I can use the remote control or put the key in the ignition and turn it from 'Off' to 'Run' five times real fast.
I have an 85 GMC 2500 with 250k miles that still has the original black and silver two tone paint, and it looks almost as good as when I bought it. I just polish and wax it two or three times a year.
I need your help please. Can anyone inform me on my rights with a new vehicle. I had the truck exactly 10 days when it broke down. I just payed thousands of dollars and I am not too excited about getting a rebuilt truck back in a couple of weeks. Can i ask for my money back or at least for an exchange for a new one? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I am located in Canada, i guess I should have mentioned that earlier. I really enjoyed driving the truck while it was running. Maybe i just got a lemon.

the local dealer's service manager told me that someone had a problem with fender flares that shrunk after getting the Rust Check done. As anyone heard of this or something similar? I can see them blaming it on that to avoid fixing it under warranty, but I trust this service manager. perhaps i should tell the Rust Check guy to avoid the fender area. Please let me know what you think.
Now for the question I meant to ask: has anyone seen or installed aftermarket taillights? I'm not sure I want to change them, but I'm curious and I can't find any online for the 2005.
I will post pictures in the pictures section when I get the chance.
Thanks
Marty

It seem to me that being mounted in only two places under the front end that if the skid plate were to do it’s job, i.e. coming down a steep hill, it would bend the bar upward causing damage to the front bumper/grill area. Would a Skid Plate without a Bull Bar be better protection? I like the idea of the Bull Bar adding protection to the front end seeing how there isn’t a front bumper anymore.
I don’t plan on rock crawling or anything extreme, mostly just desert trails (I live in AZ), but I don’t want to mess-up my new truck. Right now the truck is totally stock, but before attacking any of the “moderate” trails I think I need some protection. “Difficult” trail are not even on my radar at this time.
Do Nerf Bars add any protection or are Rock Sliders better?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I just ordered the Westin Platinum side steps. I think it will stop some rocks from hitting the sides as well as a little parking lot protection from inconsiderate people. Good luck and enjoy.
so unless you don't do any of the above it dosen't matter becasue you truck will look like x%$^ in a few years.any one can tell you this.
Also check some info I posted on the "2005 Tacoma Stereo Upgrade" forum. Tacoma Stereo Forum

Vinegar works good, and a detailing Clay Bar also works great. It's worth the $15 to just go to AutoZone and buy a Mother's Clay Bar. They are awesome for getting stuff of your paint as well.
Go to this link and scroll down on the menu on the left. Click on the "How to Video" Clay Bar Paint Saving System. It shows you what Clay Bar can do. I have personally used it to take off water spots, tree sap, tar, and paint overspray.
Whatever product you end up using, when you do it make sure the truck is in the shade and the glass is not hot.
I've also heard on this forum that they help prevent rocks from creating as many paint chips on the fenders and such.
Finally got my truck about a month ago (after a 2 month wait) but it was SO worth it! -Better than expected quality construction (my opinion)
However....
Was looking around the glove box in my 05 Double Cab LB Sport and noticed a part that seems to be "unfunctional/useless"
Has anyone seen the plastic cylindrical, spring-loaded "compression hinge" on the right side of the glove compartment insert? (the "box" that fits in to the dash)
This "part in question" is connected to the box-insert, but not connected to the dash housing...
... the glove box works just fine with out it connected on both ends, but can't figure out why/what it's for - Anyone know the answer?
Regards - enjoy reading all posts!

A nylon strap would have worked just as well. I leave it in there but it's pretty much useless whether it's attached or not.
I'm used to cold start idles of about 13-1500 rpm or so on most other vehicles I've owned. It seems a that because most engine wear occurs during cold starts that this is a pretty high idle speed during that time.
Is this the normal cold start rpm pattern on new Taco's with the 2.7 engine or should I have the dealer check it out?
Ken

Last time I checked, most residential glazing didn't have the same soft plastic coating as automotive safety glass.
I'd carefully test steel wool in an out of the way area, if I used it at all on auto glazing. Nothing like a permanent cloud in the center of your windshield.
As a woodworker, I'd also like to point out that the correct way to use steel wool is with the fibers ACROSS the direction of rub. Rubbing with the fibers parallel to the direction of motion can result in deep scratches that are difficult to remove.
