I bought a new 2006 300C. Told by the dealer to let the first tank run near low, then they would fill up.
Was taking it to the dealer (less than 1 mile from home) with no fuel warning light on...and vehicle just died. Thought I had damaged the oil pan by bottoming out in my driveway. (Oil light came on and read Zero). I'd also had a "OBD" light on from the day of purchase.
Dealership towed it and told me that I had run out of gasoline.
Later in the week, I was driving the vehicle on the highway, with 1/4 tank showing. The vehicle again ran out of gas.
I was informed that the 300C has a "saddlebag" design for its fuel tank. It pumps fuel from one side to the other and then to the engine. Thus the sensors in the tank could read fuel, but the fuel might not get to the engine.
They replaced both fuel pumps and sensors. Needless to say, I am leery about getting down to a quarter tank or less.
Might this be part of the problem people have with the vehicle "cutting out"? Perhaps the fuel pump is not doing a good job?
I haven't had any other problems or idling issues.
I also hope that running out of gas in the 300C hasn't caused other damage to the engine? I had a fuel injected VW Sciracco that my wife ran out of gas, and it never ran the same again.
It's BACK! The "fix" looked good until the end of the winter. Same old problem with rims and the only thing I used to clean them was water and the wheel cleaner from Chrysler. I'll be giving the rims a good detailing, than back to Chrysler to see if they will fix again or replace. I thin whatever happens, a fix, replace or they don't do anything, my wife will be looking to trade it in.
Nice to know someone else has this problem- we have had our 300C into the dealer twice for this noise to no avail! So if you hear or find out what the problem is please, please let us know. Otherwise we love the car.
I took my 300C to the dealer today to see if he would replace my severely pitted wheels. He said he couldn't replace them with new ones, but would fix them by having them turned on lathe and re-coated. The wheels are so pitted this fixing may affect the tire seal. I'm still insisting on new wheels. Has anyone had the dealer replace pitted wheels with brand new ones?
There is another forum on the 300's and dozens of owners have had the pitting problem. It seems that in most cases they had there wheels replaced at no charge by Chrysler. This was a wide spread problem...if your dealer won't help call Chrysler Customer Service and/or start checking with other dealers. Your problem is definitely not an isolated case with the wheel pitting.
I recently received a check engine light on my 1999 300M. I took my car to Autozone so they could tell me what the check engine light was indicating. They told me that it was a "OBDII Code 1494" which is for a Solenoid Circuit Malfunction. :confuse: Doing some more research, i discovered that this code stands for "Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault (Chrysler, Jeep)". Has anyone dealt with this, or do I just need to take it to the dealer?
I am averaging 13.5 miles in the city and about 19 on the highway. I was told it should give us 19 city and 24 to 26 on the highway. Is anyone else having any good mileage sotries? :confuse:
oK , enough is enough here , 5 times in shop for same thing , just got it out last thursday had rental for 3 days AGAIN ! I went back into the shop this morning demanding something be done or give me a new car the same model or something else whatever I just didn't want that car anymore, they told me i'd have to come up with a hefty down payment , and If I traded it in for less I'd have a 14 thousand carryover, I know I'm female but gosh sakes give me a break ,then they say the car is only worth 25g holey moley !! I'm in debt for 38g and he's telling me it's just worth 25? gurrrrr ! he said if I trade it in I'll be upside down ..... It was not MY fault they sold me a total LEMON :lemon: I was ticked , I told them that I'm not at all happy with this situation and will get it resolved somehow. Anyway came home and called chrysler got put over to someone else , they called the dealership said a district manager will call or the manager from dealership , they wanted my car in again to try and duplicate the problem , I said NO, I just want another car the same make or something else i'm tired of playing around and wasting my time running back and forth taking time off from my job, and loosing money , I'm tired of rentals and service ppl . Last week they said it was maping sensor was full of oil , they cleaned that I guess .car still shakes ,acts like wants to stall, gas guage jumps, rear end shakes now ,still a pain in the butt. I'm filing the lemon law , got the card sent out today :lemon: :lemon: :lemon: :lemon: anyone else having the same problems still?????
well my dear , STICK to your guns and exercise the lemon law if you need to. we have the EXACT same issues .. they spun the valves and reset the computer, no luck with that, they then installed a co-pilot to moniter the RPM'S .. no such luck with that method to.. after the sixth time to the dealer and the car was only 4 months old, we told them this is not exceptable to us, we spoke with a Chrysler rep as well.. he told us that the shaking or wanting to stall at an idle is due the emissions settings, and this is regulated by the goverment( he told us that all car manufactures have to comply with this law) however he did admit that ALL car manufactures have their own quirks, and this is Chryslers) .. If this had done it on the test drive, we would NOT be driving a Chrysler today... we are resolved to drive it while we still have a warranty and we WONT be buying anymore Chrysler products.. and this was our first and last purchase..
Different rim problem here.. I bought a 300 Touring Sig Series on Saturday and had the dealer put 20"rims on it. After leaving, I realized I was getting the tire pressure light. Took it back to them and they said that the rims that THEY put on do not have the sensors on them that the computer is searching for and thus aren't sure what to do about the problem. Don't they think these things out?
I have an '06 300C. The pressure transducers that sense the tire air pressure are located on the interior end of the metal valve stems. I can't be 100% certain, but it would seem that this type valve stem could be used in any type wheel.
Please post your results with the lemon law people. I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring model that is having the same issues that you and others are reporting with the shaking, shutterng, loss of power, etc. I have had mine in the dealer 3 times so far and they are not able to figure it out at all. They have turned the valves and cleaned te engine and things of that nature but nothing has fixed the problem.
I look forward to finding out your success incase I have to follow the same path down the road.
Just to let you know I have had the same issue, it started 1week after I bought it. I have had the car since 2/20/06 and had it in every week since at least once a week, they just now called me to let me know that Chrysler has determined it is a software problem and that they are working to resolve the issue, not sure how long it will take. I knwo how you feel.
Thank you for your reply... I wish you success with your issues.. I seriously doubt that it's a software problem... We were told the same thing at first, that is when the dealers service department spun the values and reset the computers..I will say this helped some, but didn't totally resolve the flutter and shaking problem... then the co pilot was installed, this devise works like a computer and once you press the button( the device is sort of like a garage door opener) 3 times, we took the car back in to the service dept. they hooked it up to their computer and tried to figure out what the RPM'S were reading at an idle.. that proved nothing and read normal... that is when a Chrysler rep was called in ... after a very long time of explaining our concerns to him, he did offer us a NEW car at a pro-rated price , but he did say he thought that the new car would do the same thing... he took us to sit in a new 300, he was right, it fluttered and shook as well.. he did say that Chrysler has a quirk with this problem, and it has to do with the emissions ( pollutions) regulation set by the goverment... we had no other choices but to believe his answers.. but I will say this much, the dealership where we bought the car bent over back wards to try and fix it.. they are just in the dark about this as well.. so my conclusion is this, Chrysler Corporation has a defective ongoing problem with the fluttering and shaking.. this shouldn't happen in a new car.. they dont know how to resolve it completely.. and so once our warranty is done( 5 Yrs) or if we can no longer put up with this, we will not be driving any more chryslers for this family... this is to bad, cause the 300 looks beautiful!
Well the Chrysler dealer called this morning with an update on my 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring Edition. This is the third time in the shop for this vehicle which is having all of the same symptoms as everyone else on here.
The first time it was in the shop they basically just ran some cleaner through the engine and that was it.
The second time it was in the shop they took the engine apart and cleaned it out again and turned all of the valves, etc.
The third time (today) they are going to be taking the engine apart again and cleaning it but they will also be replacing the cylinder heads and valves in the engine. So they are basically taking it one step further each time. They advised me that this is the order that the Chrysler service people told them that they must take until the issue is solved.
I will keep everyone posted as what comes next because after seeing what everyone else has been through I am not to confident that this is going to solve the problem.
I just received a 2006 Chrysler 300. It has the base radio (REF) and it does not have the seat memory feature. I've added a XM radio to the car and use the AUX connector on the factory radio for my connection. I would like for the radio to be in AUX mode each time I start the car. Currently, whenever I start the car, the radio defaults to FM tuned to preset 1. Is there any way to make the radio default to AUX mode?
Well I got the trusty 300 back from the shop on Saturday. They put in a new cylinder, valves and all the parts that go along wtih that. So far the car is running smooth but when they fixed it before it ran fine for about two weeks prior to giving me issues again.
The dealer told me that they are following the chain of command for that issue and repairing it as they are told. The did however acknowledge that they are having a problem with the Chrysler 300's and that shaking problem. However, they said that right now all they have is theories on what is wrong and not a final solution from DCX.
I'll let you know if it has to go back for a 4th time.
Well I filed for the Lemon law has been 4 days and still have heard nothing , they got my card that part is done the service manager says he is waiting on an inspector now to contact him and I to let me know when to bring my car in for him to look at .I hope they buy it back, and clear my credit for another . It has a new problem now when I go to stop or am slowing down I get this feeling at my feet of some sort of something knocking or hitting just under my feet, It had never done this before now I'm getting concerned is my bottom going to fall apart now? sometimes it's a hard knock like I hit something in the road and it poped up and hit my undercarriage but i've hit nothing when this happens. and the it feels like it drags when going, I will be going a speed and feels like breaks are being applied kinda feeling it just brief slow down motion . This is really weird . I'll be so glad to get this car outa my driveway , I'm gona get a :lemon: sticker to put on my back window of this car to let others know , and if they ask I'll gladly tell . This dealership in Winter Haven has also given another lady problems by not standing by their product , she had transmission problems in a Magnum 2005 she fussed with them a year still no luck she lost money when she traded it in with another company . her's would pop out of gear when she was driving it , she only had 500 some miles on it. I'm looking at Toyota and others . I'd like to stay american but heck if the americans can't take pride in something that carries our loved ones around ,why should I buy? If anyone out thier knows of a good american car please tell me.
:lemon: At least Chrysler is willing to work with you & I'm doing problem/research on the 300. Have a 2002 Chrysler; dark interior not comfortable here in the summer desert so am looking at the 300. Am leery about having problems. Had 2002 Toyota Camry, :lemon: THE BRAKES WENT OUT (1100 miles)& TOYOTA WOULD DO NOTHING!! Have a file 2 inches thick of correspondence. Needed car for interstate driving & ended up "eating" $$$$$$$ thousands for Concorde. At least Chrysler isn't ignoring you
I've had great luck with both my 94 and 2002 Grand Marquis. They may not be "cool" like a 300, but they flat out run forever with only a few minimal well-known problems that have been debugged out of the car over the years. They are very cheap both used and new, as they are not considered stylish right now. They also don't have that "sitting in a cave" visibility of the 300.
Had a 2000 Intrepid R/T - great for about 3 years, and then it started to fall apart. I swore off Chrysler after that point - stylish vehicles, but they don't last. (Before someoen tells me about their 300,000 mile Chrysler, I've had siblings with similar experiences who both swore off Chrysler as well, so I'm happy for you, but it won't change my mind.)
Well we cant say we didn't see this coming.. read your lemon law clauses and KNOW your rights.. we decided not to go that route since we would loose money plus we have a 5yr warranty as a back up .. we had 6000 miles and I believe for every 1000 miles on the car there is s HUGE depreciation that Chrysler takes.. but none the less it may be worth it for you to SQUAWK loud and long for your rights... wishing you a happy resolve... ps: my next car is a cadillac
Hi angel008a: I have a black 2006 300c 2 months old that had a bad air noise on the driver side. I took it back to the dealership and told them and took it for a drive and showed them!! For if air comes in water surely will. Angel, they kept my car for a month[and ofcourse I was calling these folk EVA WEEK checking on my black beauty!]and heard the same old song. We are still working on it" Ok Angel:: Im pissed now after 4 weeks! So I decide to take me a drive down to dealership. When I got there, I took me a walk around{inside and outside}looking for my car. "BINGO" There it was !! Parked around the back of the dealership with other old bend up cars, with enough dust on it had it looking brown! They had done nothen but parked it. I went straight to the saleman and we both went straight to the shop. I guess Angel I blew up  so bad that I had a brand spanking new 2006 black 300c the next day straight off the truck with an additional 3gs worth of stuff I didnt have on my previous one FREE !!!! And this one is PERFECT!!
Over the weekend my '05 300C was hit by a 2001 Jimmy. The Jimmy is totalled & the 300C has seen better days. (Still awaiting the complete damage report) What surprised me was is that the hit happened on the passenger's side and the front airbags deploided but the side bags did not. On either side. My thought is to contact Chrysler to let them know but I thought I would put it here for the vast amount of knowledge that is here for someone explain why they may not have "worked".
Report it to the NHSTA. Side airbags (if it has them) should have deployed the way it sounds. In the accord discussion there was an accident where the airbags didn't go off despite the considerable impact on the front corner. I would call that a safety problem.
The car does have them -- they are marked on the interior and on the window sticker reflects them as there. That was one of the must-haves on the car. Off to report to NHSTA.
Has anyone had the problem of a flooded Trunk with the Chrysler 300? I was on my way to the Yankees game yesterday, and my electrical system was going haywire. I checked the Battery in the trunk, and there was 3 inches of water in there. I have no clue how this happened, but my spare and Jack were both rusted, so this must have been happening for a while.
I purchased a 2006 awd 300c, which I had to wait nine months for delivery. I have already experienced two throttle position sensor failures while on the road. The car just dies. It is presently in the shop for the second failure. Has anyone else experienced this problem? All the service dept. tells me, is all they can do is replace the defective sensor. But this will be the third sensor, including the original one. Any suggestions??
-I have a black beautiful 300c that I have added a lot of extra features to. But the last thing Ive had done to it was dressing it out with 20"s{rims and tires}. It definitely turned heads even more. But thats the :confuse: Worst thing I could of done as far as keeping the smooth ride I use to have. Car started shaking so I went back to have the balancing checked again. Nothen Changed!! So I went back and told then if they cant stop the shaking to either put my old back on or just give me some new tires and rims. They gave me another brand new set of differant rims and tires. And this time I had them to put in the new thing thats happening with tires now.{nitrogen} No change in the ride! So they said they had to order a Piece that goes in the center of the tires to stop the vibrating. It works about 70% but you still have a slight vibration. SO NOW WHAT? So to all my 300 readers, If its looks only youre concern with, go for it. But say goodby to your smoooooooth ride!! C YA :confuse:
I have to comment on the nitrogen thing that's been going around for a couple of years now in this area. The nitrogen makes up 78% of your air already. Adding more nitrogen to the tires won't make a dollar of difference unless you're driving a semi and use the same tire carcass with retreading for a few hundred thousand miles. Then the lack of oxygen aging the rubber from inside would be _lessened_, not stopped. Bypass the gimmick.
Hi. What state are you in? I like my car but I've had these wierd electrical/computer problems since day 1 with my driver's seat, the windows, and an airbag light. I'm getting tired to taking it to the dealership and having them simply reset something only to have the problem come back.
What did you do to kick off your "lemon-law" process?
I have my second 300 since November 05 and this one is a LEMON too! My first 300 broke three times by January 06 with a "faulty computer program for the transmission"in their words. The first time I took it in they "adjusted" it, two hours later it was broke again, the second time, the same day, they said there was a new program coming out in two weeks, "a manufactures recall", 10 weeks later we were still waiting for our car to be fixed. I had finally had enough and demanded a replacement car. I was denied one until after 11 weeks of them having my car sit there "waiting for government approval" was their latest excuse. I threw a fit and threatened to go to the news stations about this recall that they are hiding from the public and the next day got a brand new 300, paying the extras for a few upgrades and being guaranteed that this car would be fine, the other car was just a fluke. I now have 1400 miles on this new 300 and Ihave exactly the same problem with this one as I did withmy first. The computer program for the transmission clunks and shifts very hard. I am now battling with the manufacturer again...as this time I want my money back not a new 300!!!! The program is still not available
I am in Hawaii...First, we had more than 30 days of service ( not necessarily in a row) for the same issues... we had 2 issues that we never directly resolved... after the 5th visit to the dealerships service dept.( the car was four days NEW when the problems started) we asked for the Chrysler rep .. if you file a petition for the lemon law, you need to do so in writing to the dealership AND Chrysler corporation.. read up on the lemon law in your state and SAVE all your paper work from your service visits... My dealership really worked well with us I have to say, They seemed just as puzzled about the problems in that they couldn't get the problems resolved... my opinion is that Chrysler has some major quirks with their products... I will not be buying another.. the 300 touring we own was our first and last Chrysler product... Ps: when we started talking lemon with the service manager, he told me that we HAVE to give them an opportunity to fix the problem since the car has a warranty... I asked him , okay, what are you going to do different that the last 5 visits weren't able to resolve? he knew then I had HIM in the corner and I wasn't going round 6 with them or the car... the Chrysler rep finally came to meet with us, he offered us a new car as well, however, since we had miles on the car, they take a depreciation for every thousand miles and only give you piddleys for the car you payed top dollar for.. I find when you sqwack the loudest, they either want to get rid of you, or try and resolve your issues.. GOOD LUCK
I moved to Southern California last year from Northern California. Do you know if I have to deal with the dealership which I purchased the vehicle from in order to initiate the lemon law process?
I am not sure what the protocol is for California.. Please look up the California Lemon Law Statures and see what your rights are... just type in the computers address bar california Lemon law.. you may have to search through all the attorneys that are advertising on there, but I found the lemon law statures easy enough... I would think anywhere where your now getting the car serviced in Southern California as well as Northern you shouldnt have a problem... To me it shouldn't matter, the car is having problems and any Licsened dealership for Chrysler should stand by the service record... be sure to keep a copies for your own files... and be ADAMANT when dealing with your rights... good luck...
Since I bought my 300 Limited in June of 2004, it has made a noise when pressing the accelerator in warm weather. The noise comes from the passenger side dash. Each time the pedal is pressed, a "buzzing" noise occurs. It starts off short and quiet but will become louder and longer as the car is driven. It only happens in the warmer months and makes no sound during the winter (very cold!) months. The dealership can hear the noise and agree that it is not normal, but have no idea how to fix it. The noise will only occur when the car is being driven. It is very quiet when in park or neutral. Any help will be appreciated as my warranty is about to expire in about six months.
You might be hearing your Automatic Temperature Control Sensor Fan. There is a little fan where the 5 slot opening is on your dashboard that sucks are from the interior of the car to sample the temperature to tell the system what it needs to do. When you first get in the car it activates the fan for a short period to sample the temp in the car. If you get in your car and shut the door and just sit there you will hear it shut off. It runs probably for a minute or two.
During warm weather with the a/c on, I get a whining or whistling noise from the dash area. When I shut the fan and or a/c off the noise remains. However, during cooler weather, no noise. Is there anyone out there experiencing the same problem?
I have a '06 300C that has had an occasional, noticeable noise coming from the passenger rear side area, also. I work at a Chrysler dealership. Have had a technician check the rear suspension on both sides and the exhaust system and have come up with nothing. Yesterday morning as I was putting some things in the trunk, I noticed the two adjustment screws on the bottom lip of the trunk lid. When you close the lid these screws are supposed to meet up with the two rubber bumpers located on the rear fascia lip. I closed the lid and firmly pushed down on the exterior of the lid. As I did this I heard a familiar noise ! After a couple partial turns on each adjustment screw, the trunk lid is now secure and the noise that I was hearing inside in the passenger side rear is gone. Hope this works for you.
My Dealer in Cary N.C. responded by providing us with a new 300 Limited. Our's was having the same problem. Chrysler did not help but the Dealer was outstanding.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to program my remote for my memory settings? The directions in the manual seem not to work. I heard of modifeid instructions on an extra card(s) but I don't have these, I bought the car used with 17,000 miles on it.
Ok got my car back they told me it was unsafe to drive kept stalling out like the gas line was pulled and kept lunging foward on me , and delayed starting , oh brother this is no picnic . Well still in the 10 week process of the Magnuss and Moss law........got like 3-4 more weeks to go to find out if chrysler is gona buy it back or if I can get the pleasure of sticking a piece of dyniamite up the tail pipe ! I see people on the road at a stop lite ahead of me with the same car and hey their shaking , I can see it ! I stop to talk to everyone that I see that ownes one of these lemons they all are not happy at all , it is really something that they haven't recalled this car after all the problems that this is causing. They changed my maping sensor said it was reading like it was in the mountians and it didn't need as much rich gas mixture in thiner air so causing it to stall , ha ha ha thier was a oil build up on the sensor um hello? any one in thier? dosen't this mean a possiable oil leak somewhere? this is the 2nd time they changed it within 2 months for same problem , car still is shaking at stops and seems like it wants to stall out , they fixed the problem for mabye 2 hours ? anyway really sucks totaly disiapointed , such a nice car , with so many stupid problems. I know before I do any car shopping again i'm gona check this site for any gripes about a car or truck before I'm stuck in an agreement. ........ha ha hey did ya'll see on tv that add that chrysler has out now ???? try it for 30 days and if you don't like it return it? i'm really thinking on bring back my car and telling them hey i've complained about this before 30 days after having this lemon , it should still apply? i'm gona try anyway .........wish me luck , they probley wont honer it like every thing else. I will not recomend or buy again from Winter Haven Dodge of Florida in polk county !!! :lemon: :lemon: :lemon: I'm going toyota next. to everyone out thier that has problems with thier lemon the best of luck to ya ! and ask about the Magnoss and Moss ! from your lawyer ! it's quicker then the lemon law. and less hastle.
Sorry about your problems, but you had better check out the Toyota forums--Camry,Avalon etc. before you buy a Toyota. Lots of problems with transmission hesitation. Some owners have had the tranny replaced and the replacement is no better than the original. Toyota quality has gone down hill lately.
I realize that every car can have problems, but I have a family member who is in love with the 300C. Do any of you regret buying yours. She is about to buy hers by the end of this year. I would hate for her to have to put down her hard earned money on what some people here have been stuck with. Honest oppinions here please. thanks in advance.
I am going to give you my honest opinion here, we bought an 2006 300 Touring.. it started having problems 4 days after we drove it off the lot.. it has been in for service many many times for the same shaking problems.., we had meetings with the dealership, service manager and Chrysler Corp. rep... the problem was somewhat resolved or should i say temperaly... but the problems still exist... I am sadly disappointed in the car... even thought the car looks great, and has many luxury features, the issues i have are not acceptable in a new car.. Honestly, I will not buy another Mopar product... hope this helps in your decision process..
I own a 300 Limited. I have never had any problems with the car except for discolored chrome rims which Chrysler took care of. The car drives excellent and for the size the fuel consumption is great. This is also my 3rd Chrysler product. I have owned 7 General Motors products and have too many problems to mention with all of them.

Has anyone had the dealer replace pitted wheels with brand new ones?

If anyone out thier knows of a good american car please tell me.
looking at the 300.
At least Chrysler isn't ignoring you
Had a 2000 Intrepid R/T - great for about 3 years, and then it started to fall apart. I swore off Chrysler after that point - stylish vehicles, but they don't last. (Before someoen tells me about their 300,000 mile Chrysler, I've had siblings with similar experiences who both swore off Chrysler as well, so I'm happy for you, but it won't change my mind.)
My thought is to contact Chrysler to let them know but I thought I would put it here for the vast amount of knowledge that is here for someone explain why they may not have "worked".
Thanks!
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Off to report to NHSTA.
Thanks!
2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
What did you do to kick off your "lemon-law" process?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Teesh
GOOD LUCK
However, this noise is a humming sound and it occurs when the car is off. It seems to be coming from the area of the radio and temperature controls.
Does anyone have any idea about what is causing this? Thanks!
Just Kiddin.....Evil - From BOSTON!
it is a 2006 300C.
:lemon: :lemon: :lemon:
I'm going toyota next.
to everyone out thier that has problems with thier lemon the best of luck to ya ! and ask about the Magnoss and Moss ! from your lawyer ! it's quicker then the lemon law. and less hastle.
