Kanto, Emblem removal at this point may leave a shadow figure from them being on & baked by the sun, but you won't know till you remove them & you may see some difference in surface area because of the sealant you had put on. Can anyone tell me what this option is? (R6J Captive Fleet-Janesville). I did not order this it but it came on the invoice of my new truck under options. It shows 0 cost under MSRP and $16.50 charge under invoice amount. Truck was ordered GMO. Does this mean dealer ordered my truck fleet.
Also truck was built in Wentsville(St. Louis) plant. I did not know they were making truck there. Any comments on trucks coming out of that plant.

Cut a piece of fishing line long enough for you to wrap and/or hold with fingers, slide it behind the emblem, then slow work it back and forth like a sawing motion and the fishing line will cut through the foam like sticker holding it to the paint. Once the emblem is removed you can just peel/pick with your fingers/fingernail to remove a good portion of the foam. It leave a little residue of adhesive, use Automotive adhesive remover to get this off. No scratches and the Automotive adhesive remover worked great (use only what you need and DO NOT leave it on the paint surface, you are only wiping/slight rubbing to get the adhesive off , which only took me 20 seconds per emblem, I followed up immediately by wiping with a clean wet (water) towel). Lot easier to wax now! As far as the "Z71" sticker is concerned, you would be surprized how easy it comes off. I just left it in the sun for a 1/2 hour, and then just peeled it off in 1 piece!! Yes, thats 1 piece! If your truck sits outside everyday (no garage time/car port),you live in the sunbelt AND you have a dark color (indigo blue or black), it might, key word here "might" have a slight "shadow of the sticker". Otherwise I'd go ahead and do it. I took off the Z71 stickers, Chevrolet emblem, Silverado emblem and the "1500" emblems. Makes for easy waxing and a "clean look".
Sunvisor update, picked up the sunvisor yesterday. Finally found someone who could at least tell me that there IS NOT a 1/2 inch hole that the mounting bracket (where the visor "clips to") on the Silverado because the "roof bow" is slightly different that a Suburban. However, this does not mean that 1. I cannot drill the hole (danger of going through the 1/2 void and hitting the roof, resulting in a dent) 2. forget using the 1/2 inch clip, which is just a clip that you put the retaining screw into. I'm going to pull the headliner back this weekend to see first hand which approach I am going to take. If I proceed to install I will take pictures and document the steps.
Is this true? Will there be exterior rear door handles on the extended cab??????? Or are you thinking of the crew cab. If so, where can I find this info?

Had an Astro Eurolid installed when took delivery of truck. Color matched hard fiberglass. Its fine till have to haul would need at least 2 people to remove. What have done is used stretch cords pulled down tight on load. What should have brought is a roll in lock cover. Has anybody gone this route. How much. Chevy had a tonneau cover but dealer wouldn't order saying poor quality.

go for the Edlebrocks..awesome shocks...delivers exactly as they say they do in the ads. Got to shop around as its kinda on the high side. Saw someone earlier paid like $59 with some kind of discount got it to $40. I paid $69 each.
ran3 Roll n Lock or Pace Edwards...best type of tonneau as far as flexibility...can lock it, roll it out of the way...only downside it that it takes away about 9-11" of bed depending on which model. Had Pace Edwards installed for $700 total. Priced roll n lock with remote and motorized at $1100.
saying a cap takes away from a Blue truck.....better set the little whipper snapper straight here..
For my personal choice...I like an open bed...no cover/lid/cap....just my thoughts..

Do you have any idea how those Edlebrock compare to the Rancho RS 9000's? I know the Edlebrocks are not adjustable, but have also heard they kinda adjust on their own? Any thoughts?
I am starting to think maybe my front end rattle is a defective shock. Sounds kinda like a loose shock, but both are tight. Truck will be at dealer all day tommorrow to hopefully get this rattle figured out. If it is a shock, might be replacing those Rancho's with something else. We'll see.
I'm not to sure on the Rancho RS 9000. I think you may want to check the Edelbrock website to see if they make a shock that fits your application. Bilstein users claim that the Edlebrock is too soft. Rcoos was praising the Edlebrocks on his 4x4 up and down Edmund's Silverado topics. If I remember correctly you had 4" lifts? Check the link out:
My two choices were the Tenneco stock or Bilstein. One too soft the other not to my liking from previous installs on company vans. I also checked out KYB but at the time they didn't make any for the Silverado.
What kind of warranty do the Ranchos come with?Aren't they kinda new?
Thanks for the advice. The only thing the owners manual says is to change it after 500 miles of towing. I assume they mean the locking rear end (which is what I have). I am thinking like you, that changing at 1000 miles is a little early. I don't think you wasted your money by changing at 6000 miles, especially if you tow at all. I think I'll put a few miles towing a trailer before I change my rear differential fluid, maybe second oil change. I won't be towing until I have at least 1000 miles on my truck.

truck tires ride got a little stiff. After changing rear leafs got a little stiffer and bouncy. After changing front insulators. I can feel every single bump in the road through the steering wheel, plus bounce and stiffness from tires and rear leafs...what used to be a smooth ride has been upgraded to a 1979 C/K 2500 ride. Like having a firm suspension with a 2wd. I think I need additional weight in the front or I could wait till the truck bounces apart. I think the dealer is going to work on this though...when test driving with service manager I was sure to take a bouncy section of highway at 75. Sure was fun bouncing down the highway...service manager was turning different shades of green like in sea sickness.
As far as the something coming loose, could be the shocks, steering shaft, leaf springs, rear seat insulators or may be generally related to GM build quality. Kinda spooky on a $30k truck...not to be negative but my truck was built at Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
already have had the intermediate shaft replaced; no change in the rattle. hopefully this dealer will be able to diagnose and fix it!

When is chevy/GM going to come out with an off-road package for the full size that is similar to their ZR2 package on the compact? I was looking at silverados this weekend, saw a Z71 next to a LS 2wd. They looked identical except for the sticker on the bed. Looked good for a "street truck" but not something I would expect to take off-road. If they went with a 4" body lift, heavy axles, wide stance, 33x12.50's, skidplate package, fender flares, and the 6.0 as a base with the 8.4 and D-Max as options they might have one hell of a truck. I'm planning on buying a silverado in the next 6 months (I like chevy's ext cab over the others, and I have GM card earnings) but I don't know if I want the Z71 package. Looks a little weak to me......just my opinion.
went for a ride with the shop foreman just to make sure he heard what I was hearing. he said he definately heard it, actually there is no way to miss it unless one is deaf or just does not want to work on the truck. this was the experience I had a while back at another local dealer. they said they could not reproduce the rattle. i'll never go back to them!
so now with two dealers working on this problem, I'm sure one of them will be able to fix it! let's hope!
I am not to fond of Dodge trucks, in fact all i've heard is bad things about them but they have the right idea on their new off-road package. I basically have or am going to install everything that comes on Dodges new package, but it would be nice to have it on straight from the factory. I just hope that by my next chevy truck (hopefully not for another 10 years)they will wise up and have a new off-road package.
The only rear door handles I have seen on a Silverado are the ones on a crew cab. The 2500 crew cab was just introduced. I don't think (or is it wishful thinking) that Chevy is stupid enough to copy ANYTHING on the Tindra.

I won't go on about thge Edelbrocks on my Silverado (I've talked enough about this). Before I selected the Edelbrocks, I looked at the Rancho RSX shocks (the new Monroe Reflex shocks were not avaiable then).
From the information that I received the Rancho RSX shock is very close to the Edelbrock IAS shocks. The Rancho has a self adjusting value too!
I looked at the Rancho 9000 shocks, but it has to be set at one of five levels. I just found this systems to be a pain in the rear. rcoos
It sounds like the Elelbrocks are good shocks for an unloaded truck but what about with a near max load in the bed? The advantage of the Ranchos is the ability to adjust for the load. My stock shocks (not firm ride option) seem fine with no load but with 2500lbs of camper it gets a bit floaty. Anyone know how the Edelbrocks would handle that?
I had a thought recently. With the new Tahoe and Suburban out now maybe we could use the visors from one of those (or the GMC equiv). I'm sure the mounting would be the same as in our trucks but since those vehicles are more upscale they probably have pull out extensions. Does anyone know for sure?
yes, did all 4. My stock Tenneco has about 400 miles on them. Edelbrock improved handling, smoother over bumps, potholes. Pretty much everyone who has them likes em except maybe hardcore Bilstein guys who claim that it's too soft.
vince4 Never got to evaluate the 3/4 ton version. With load on 1500 the handling was better than stock shocks. How much better...with load and stock shocks, I would look like the midas commercial...bouncing up and down as I drove down the street. After Edelbrocks...no problem. The leaf springs..that's another story.
That's what I picked up on Wednesday, 92I color code 2000 Suburban drivers side sunvisor. Problem is that the roof bows are different between the Suburban, Silverado & Tahoe. The left side of the sunvisor (with the 3, size 15 torx screws) WILL FIT perfectly. Its the other end that is the problem. 1. its about 3 inches farther 2. not sure until I pull back the headliner to see if the bracket will mount to the roof bow (is there a square punched hole to insert the bracket fitting). It is not simply a screw into the roof bow. This weekend I should either have it in or be taking it back for a refund.
ARE makes fine lids, however I still like the idea of a "cover" that "gets out of my way" without having to remove it. I think I'm going to go with either Roll Lock, Pace Edwards or Specialty Covers. Check out this new lid from Leer, pretty interesting: http://www.leer.com/pg6.html
yes, I had to replace the tailgate protector with a slimmer version, which the ARE dealer had(for $15.00 extra)and wasn't too bad a change-out. Fortunately, he made a mistake and I got mine free. I think he made enough commish off of me on the sale...when all was said and done it was close to $850-$875 drive-out.
To date I have 4500 mi on my Rancho 4" lift with the RSX shocks. No problems. The ride is firm, but the shocks are performing quite well.
Kanton, My truck had same problem with the shaft. It took two replacement intermidiate shafts to clear the problem. I had to go to another dealer to get the 2nd one installed. It is the shaft.

My truck had same problem with the shaft.
It took two replacement intermidiate shafts to clear the problem.
I had to go to another dealer to get the 2nd one installed.
It is the shaft.
