Good call Kyfdx. It's the 3 Litre Six from a rare big Austin- Healey (most of 'em had two carbs). This '62 Healey 3000 Mk.II/BN7 was one of only 138 made.

    '67 California special?

although now that I look at it closer, it has Shelby side scoops (and it looks like tailpiece).

    Oh heck, I don't know!

I think you hit the nail on the head, SG - the CS's had those scoops and the Shelby-style rear end. Somebody tried to sell my FIL a plane-jane Mustang, called it a CS, glad he didn't bite
  • wgraferwgrafer Member Posts: 592
Having lived in the Northeast, I'm not sure what a "California Special" is...but I do know the the car in question is a 1968 Mustang (see the side marker lights).
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,125
Ford made a few market-specific specials. There was the California Special, and I think there was some kind of one for Colorado.

Edit-checked it out, the end of the California Special run ('68) was reallocated to the Colorado area, called the High Country Special.

From Room 222, a TV show on ABC in the early '70s: the teacher's convertible, about 41 seconds into the video. What is it? I am guessing a Dodge Dart but my confidence is low.

How about "Valiant"? Somewhere mid 60s? That front fender says "Plymouth."

65 Valiant looks a little different, so 1964?

    Definitely a Valiant 'vert, '65 or '66.

Could even be a '63, don't see enough of the grille:

  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,681
That's the car. In one frame there's a flash of the pattern of the grill. The sides of the grill have the same shape as the blue on in the picture.

What does it say on the side above the wheel? Is that "Plymouth" or something else?

"What does it say on the side above the wheel? Is that "Plymouth" or something else? "

I think it says "Signet 200"
  • sad_chairsad_chair Member Posts: 13
Yeah, that's it all right. I forgot about the Dart's cousin from the Plymouth family. Thanks everyone
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,125
The were very similar. I think the Dart was on a slightly stretched chassis:

Opel Gt about 1975 on the left in blue ?
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...what the blue car approaching the camera is. I saw one on the street about a month back and I don't know what it is. Its styling kind of looked like a BMW 2002 from the rear.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
The car in motion is a VW Type 34 Karmann Ghia. Nearest the camera looks like a Triumph Herald, across the street is an Opel GT, maybe a Bedford or Ford van, and what looks like a Jag 3.4.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,125
That's the 'other' VW Karmann Ghia. These ares listed as a '62 and a '64 'type 343':

  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Thanks! I'm familiar with the "classic" VW Karmann Ghia with the little "grilles" on the front end.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, that's the Type 34 K-G (aka VW 1600) which was never exported to the US. I'm not sure why except that they sold every Type 1 they could make.

It did look a little like a BMW 1600/2002 from behind but like the Bimmers it was heavily influenced by the Corvair>

    image

I think there's another Jag MkII parked in front of the one that's behind the van.

I know a number of those made it to NA as private imports...I know there are a couple floating around my area, unless the worthless greenback has seen them re-imported.

Quite a few cars copied the Corvair in some ways. It's really a shame one of GM's progressive cars was doomed.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
The front end says "Montverdi" to me, but I have no clue about the model.

Looks like the European Accord from the mid 90s, but there were some odd offshoot names for some models, I think. Pretty sure those are Russian plates.

The yellow car is a Jensen of some sorts?

That is a Euro spec Accord, 93-96 I think.

    375L ?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
The Opel GT would have been an unusual site in the UK then, as it was never imported and was only available LHD.
On the right the red car is a Fiat 850.
    - and the van is a Ford ( Transit )
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, it's a Monteverdi High Speed 375L ca. '68-'77. Coachwork was by Fissore and power via Chrysler V8 (426 or 440), making the Monteverdis Italian-Swiss/American hybrids. ;)

The Monteverdi High Speed 375 also came in four-door (375/4) and convertible (375S) form.

Interesting point about the Opel GT in the UK. There's no way for us Yanks to know where it was taken other than the slight preponderance of British makes unless we noticed the K-G is RHD.

I forgot about the Fiat 850, never very popular here. The Opel GT was common here in the '70s, it was sometimes called the "poor man's 'Vette". The Ford Transit is apparently ubiquitous on your side but most of us have never seen one.

link to Wikipedia entry: "Ford Transit".

Almost. It's a JDM Honda Ascot Innova, an upscale version of the '90-94 Accord with styling and engines borrowed from the '92 Prelude. The mid-90s Euro Accord was a bit wider (since it didn't have to fit into Japanese tax brackets) and had door frames around the windows.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
They are actually driving on our side of the road, although that is such a wide street that it is hard to tell... I would say the location is in north London, probably somewhere like Camden or Notting Hill...
Thanks for the link on the Transit - it is really the generic name now for a panel van one size larger than the car based ones... Even if somepne has a Bedford, a VW or a Mercedes-Benz van, if it is about that size everyone refers to it as a 'Transit'

Citroen CX, may be the Prestige model, not so sure about the Pallas. I would say this particular car was pictured in the Last Century early Eighties.
CX was made between 1974-1990; in 1975 was the Car Of The Year in Europe. She was the sucessor of the DS model and the antecessor of the XM. Robert Opron was the designer.

    Regards,
    Jose

Yep, it's a 1988 Citroen CXA Prestige, never officially imported here although
    this one resides in Oregon.

    '62 Falcon?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,464
There was a grey market company that privately imported those, I think the majority were sent over in 1987. Some XMs were also imported after that.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Close Bumpy, it's a 1960 model, the '62 had a grille that bulged to the front rather than receding rearward.
