Mongolia, long story) and saw a very strange car that I cannot identify.
The front reminded me of a new Beetle, the rear window had a reverse angle to it, and the door panels had raised horizontal ribbing -- the whole thing looked like a heavily revised Citroen.
It did not have a maker's marque on it -- or at least it looked like the place for one had been replaced by something else...unless there is a car company that starts with a W????
Any ideas/photo links?
Thanks,
Guy Fuson

Yep, my first thought when I read Guyfuson's post was that it was probably a Wartburg, Tatra or GAZ (the one that replicates the Prinz) since Iron Curtain cars should be prevalent in Mongolia but when I got to the part about the reverse slant of the rear window I figured it might be an Ami since the Citroen double Chevron could resemble a "W" and it does have corrugations on the side.
If it wasn't for the reverse backlight I'd say it was a 2CV.

Reverse backlight has the key...maybe it was, I can't think of anything else.
And that may be a good thing in this case. :P
I wonder how a 1960s Citroen would end up in Mongolia.
Aaah French cars...always original, nobody wants to copy those!

Last night on the news I saw a C4C lineup at a dealer, and a decent looking 85-88 Cressida was in the lineup. I actually felt a little bad about it for a second...but one has to remember, any car like that to be worth the trade-in value would have to be in concours condition, and they are not rare, just decent old cars, probably moreso than an old Q.
There was also a first series Legend in the lineup...but most of those I see anymore are burning oil noticeably, so it probably had issues.

That's it, it's a 1958 Toyopet Crown. I thought only British cars were so retrograde as to include a starter crank in 1958. :surprise:

I'm guessing ... Chevy Agile. Probably a Korean derivative of something in the GM stable.
