6367 is some kind of ca. 1955 Studebaker...it's not a Hawk AFAIK, and it's not elegant like the earlier split-grille models.

6368-9 is a Mitsukoa something or other, based on some JDM Nissan. Misukoa does odd yet somehow fascinating retro-conversions on JDM Nissans. They have a front end grafted onto a Micra that is very much like a Jag Mk II.

This kind of weirdness just isn't common anymore
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675
Yep, 6367 is a '55 Studebaker President, Hawks didn't come along for a cuople of years. Adding chrome to the nose of the beautiful Loewy copes of 1953 wasn't exactly an improvement. The pressures of the annual model styling change in that era meant that every one of my favorite '50s designs was ruined within a year or two of it's introduction.

Time for a quick Italian to English translation lesson:

    Quattro = Four
    Porte = Door

Yes, it is a Maserati, but not a Quattroporte. Just a Coupe GT (or Cambiocorsa, if it has the F1-like paddle shifters).
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Almost looks like a stretched RD1 Tiburon (RD2 had the bugeye headlights), but it's probably a Maserati something-or-other.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
Thanx for the translation. I do think it's a very Sexay car. :shades:

    bumpy,

I must have distorted vision, because I can't see any "tinamant" styling in the premium Masserati.

it's a 2005 Maserati Gran Sport. Truth be tolD it's almost identical to the previous Cambiocorsa and 3200GT models. ;)

Well, it's British (or Australian, given the RHD) and looks to have a GM-ish sort of shape.

Mid 70's to early 80's vintage Vauxhall or Holden of some sort.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Uh...Is it a Holden Caprice from the late '70s or early '80s?
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
Well the ornament on the hood appeared to be a wreath and crest. :surprise: So natuarally I said Cadillac

The photograph is labeled 1970 Chevrolet Caprice on a South African website, no doubt it is identical to the contemporary Holden Caprice.

You could only be more right if you'd mentioned that it's a B20/Series IV. ;)

It's not a Vectra, but you are in the right neighborhood.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,237
Sorry - I haven't been around for a while, you've posted some great cars..
The black SUV that remains a mystery looks very Audi to me - Is this a development model for the forthcoming Q7 ?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,237
The small Japanese white van is a Nissan S-Cargo - some of these have been imported second-hand into UK as with this example - circa 1996.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,237
Thanks for posting a link to the site for Mitsukoa.... There is one of their Jag mk 2 / Nissan Micra creations running round near here, but they never imported them here so it's another 'grey import'....
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,639
I wish we could have grey market cars here...I like weirdness.

You can do it in Canada anyway, there's a company in Vancouver that imports things like that S-Cargo and other oddballs.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,639
That's an Omega right? Same as a Caddy Catera, you can see it in the A-pillar
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Correct; 1995 Opel Omega Caravan. Sort of a second cousin to the full-size Holdens, and we got the sedan version as the Caddy that Zigs.

1972 Nova Super Sport 350. My dad had this same year and color but his was just the Sport Coupe with a 307 with a powerglide and ralley wheels. It was the last car he ever bought, when he got too sick to drive my mom sold it to my bother-in-law for $ 1500 in 1975 who gave it to my niece who promply totaled it within a month.

    Useless automotive facts 101
Behold the lovely lines of Holden Premier! But wait, is it really a premier?
For over 60 years, the Holden has been one of the defining characteristics of Australia culture, and the Kingswood/Premier was the company's flagship during the 1970's.
But in one of the most bizarre synergies of automotive history, Japanese company Mazda decided to purchase several Premiers from GM Holden in 1975, subsequently removing the trusty Holden 6 cylinder motor and replacing with the quirky Mazda rotary engine which is most famous for its appearance in the Mazda RX-7.
This strange beast was known as the Mazda Roadpacer, and only survived for 3 years, before falling sales and horrendously bad fuel economy (9 Miles per gallon) saw the project canned.
Transplanting a rotary engine into a Holden is the rev head equivalent of violating a nun, so the reaction this car would have if it ever appeared at Summernats would be a sight to behold.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Yep, the 13B may be fun in a 2200-pound sport coupe, but it's not so much fun in a 3500-pound slab of Aussie iron. Holden sent the Premiers to Mazda without engines, btw.

...is it a 1961 Pontiac Ventura? It was as plush as a Bonneville but on the smaller Catalina platform.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Doesn't look fancy enough to be a Bonneville. '61 Star Chief?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,639
Are those 8 lug wheels? I'd guess a Bonnie
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,675

The emblem about at the A-pillar on the side chrome strip looked like it might mark the Bonneville. That was the reason for my question mark.
