Lada Niva. Very popular Russian SUV, apparently its excellent off-road but... no. Just no. Lada briefly sold its wares down here... I don't remember anyone being so stupid as to buy a third-rate, antiquated Russian bucket-of-bolts. But they tried for about, oh, ten years, before the importer realised how stupid they were being.

Yeah, had to be pre-'95 because the interior was changed. Impreza did offer the 1.8l and the 2.2l engines (EJ series).

In '95 the interior was revised and the 2.5 RS model came out.

Yup, 'sa 1988 Skoda Rapid 136, which probably wasn't(very rapid that is). It may look like your typical small FWDer from the 80s but the motor is in the back!

Looks like a Spirit, although it looks to be riding a bit high, so it might be the 4WD version (not sure if the small version was also known as an Eagle). Or it might just be the shadows.

Spiritual successor to the Gremlin.

'88-'92 IIRC. I had a 1991 5 door LX 5 speed, and still probably the best car I ever had in many ways. Never should have sold it, but I just couldn't stand the motorized belts an longer.

Bulletproof, and still running today (my mailman bought it) with way north of 150K on it.

Yep, that's a 626 from the second generation ('83-'87). Those five-doors were hard to find in '83.

I'll admit that the ics are awful small, and my eyes aint what they used to be, but I'm pretty sure that those are the next generation ('88+). The '83-'87 ones were more boxy/angular.

1967 Toyota "Stout"

I had a friend who owned one of these too. I believe it was Toyota's first entry into the US pickup market. It was a very elementary (primitive) vehicle by any definition, although considerably more substantial than the Subaru 360 that he also owned. (This guy was a weird-car magnet).

My inlaws had a 92 LX 5 door that they sold with 192K on it. The driveline was still in great shape, but little things were starting to break. It probably didn't help that they used it as a little pickup truck.

Yep it's a Lancia Stratos, this car had an interesting history in that it was developed
after Lancia became part of the Fiat empire with almost no input from anyone within Lancia.

Pininfarina did the coachwork and the V6 of course was the same Lampredi V6 featured in the Ferrari and Fiat Dinos. The car was developed to succeed the highly successful Lancia Fulvia HF
in contesting the World Rally Championship where it was quite successful until unhorsed by the All-wheel Drive Audi Quattros.

A small number were sold as road cars, I doubt any were imported to the USA.

Actually that's not very surprising, it's a car few of us have been exposed to. It's the brand new Hong qi Benteng.

It looks Toyota-esque to me but it's based on Mazda 6 architecture. :confuse:

Looks like a Transformer, but don't know the name. Funny story about the Transformers. My twin boys and I were in the attic and I found my old electric train set. I was showing and explaining the different parts of the set, and they were soaking it all in, since they had no idea what an electric train was. when I got to the black box that controls the speed, I said it was the transformer. In one voice, they both asked "What does it change in to?" Couldn't get them to understand it didn't change into anything. "Then why is it called a transformer?" They were way to young to understand about electricity.

That's the Transformer based on the Z-car, "Bluestreak" maybe...IIRC a silver version was "Silverstreak"

Yep, based on the second-gen Fairlady Z (280ZX in the US). Contrary to what some of the early promotional materials showed, the Bluestreak toy was all silver despite the name.

I think it was sold as a Stanza wagon here, also an Prairie elsewhere. (?). IIRC the Axxess name came with the next generation. These were also sold in 4WD variants IIRC. I remember when they just came out the family of a Japanese girl at my grade school bought one...and their purchase along with the general JDM looks of it have always branded it a very JDM car to me.

Nissan Prairie it is. First gen was the Stanza wagon in the US (with the 4wd option popular in the 80s), and 2nd gen was the unpopular Axxess (which sold much better in Canada for some reason).
