...I goofed...the survey is not from GM....ut they are asking me about mine......I hope the testing is GM?

Either the Westin chrome plated stainless or
Back Country stainless. Does anyone have any
pros/cons for either of my choices. Thanks
for your help.

He has a set of westin CPS.
I have black westin nerf bars and really like them. I think either way you go (brand) you will be happy with them. The back country seem to be a little bigger (diameter).

Had a horrible nightmare last night....I traded my Silverado on an F150 without even a test drive. I spun it twice within a few blocks. Had so much pitch and roll, and noisy engine and drivetrain. Also came with some kind of rusting under green paint ground effects scheme. Glad I awoke from that one. Had to look in the garage to be sure....

How hard is it to get to the fan?
Thanks....

I, like you ordered a two tone truck in July. I just talked to my dealer, and customer service, and the production date is no where in sight.
I hope you didn't, like me, order a black one, because not only is there a problem with two tone, there is a problem with onyx black. I finally gave up, and my dealer located a 2k one for me. I'll get a 1k rebate, and a $500 gas coupon. Problem is, is that it has a few more options on it, than I had wanted.
Thanks for the info guys on the Snow Plow Prep. Now I just have to get those flares off!!
Chris
My suggestion to you is to tell the dealer you're not happy with the feathering tires. They will, no doubt, order a new set. However, they will more-than-likely feather again. Ask the dealer to switch to another brand like I did. Don't let them tell you it can't be done, because they did it for me. You'll probably have to pay to upgrade to a better quality of tire.
About the fix: I don't know the answer to that for sure. The dealer also tried balancing, rotating, etc. and it did not work for me.
Good luck....John

Tires.....some say off road tires can attribute as much as 1-3 MPG difference.....but I don't know how much of that I would believe....

Another consideration for the tires is the weight of the tire, being heavier takes more effort to move 'em. I disagree with z71bill. Tires will make approximately .05231145 mpg difference. The figure that z71bill posted was the mileage difference before and after a bird crapped on your truck.

What kind of tires do you have. I had the Generals, in fact multiple sets of em. Each set feathered within the first 1000 miles and had chunks of rubber falling out of the tread.

I have taken my truck to a Chevy dealer & was told by the service rep that it is a clutch drive system & it makes that clicking sound.

In 1991, a co-worker told me about his father who belonged to a Porshe club. A member of the club had done research and at the time Chevron/Exxon was supposed to be the cleanest gas available. I used it in my 91 Integra almost without exception until I sold it last spring. I never received a negative report from the Acura mechanic(s) who worked on my car about dirty/clogged fuel injectors.
Anyone, heard/read anything recently about who may have the cleanest/highest octane rating among the three flavors of unleaded gasoline? Unless I hear new information, I plan on putting only Chevron/Exxon gas, whenever possible, in my 'rado when I get it.

Have you been to an alignment shop? Tire feathering on the outside edge can be related to how you drive, but also can happen when toe-in is excessive, or too much positive camber. The alignment shop can make adjustments to cure, but sometimes you have to find one that will "deviate" outside of factory specs a bit.
Steelworker,
Bad port injectors are nothing new for GM. At least they are fairly cheap. If one that's gunked up gets cured with cleaner, I would stop there, and not get into the routine of using it often. If someone is choking on food, the Heimlich maneuver works, but is no benefit to someone breathing normally. Just my opinion. I'm sure there are others, but I don't like using solvents where there are rubber parts, o-rings etc., (even neoprene), as they degrade over time. Nothing wrong with a V6 either. They may not be as fun, but they keep $$ in your pocket. That counts too.

Did you have a steering pull?
What you are telling me is not the news that I want to hear, but it matches what my dealer was also telling me. Back in mid-September my dealer told me not to expect my order for the 2001 two-tone Silverado Z-71 LS to get accepted until at least November (2000?). Two more weeks and it will be November, I'll go bug my dealer about my order then. Mine will be the White upper/Pewter lower combination.
Hmmmmm, wonder if I should wait until I can order a 2002?
David
Another thing, I had placed an order through their website and they had emailed me saying that they couldn't ship from their factory and to call and get a local dealers phone number. Sure do make it hard to get them filters don't they.

Ordered a F450 4x4 CC V10 Bifuel Cab and Chassis last night. With the $35,000 tax credit from AZ, vehicle will cost maybe $1600 plus whatever bed I put on it. Hope the AZ tax credit deal is not retroactively rejected by our AZ Legislature. Also hope to see the new Ford sometime in the next year or so. With a 24,000 lb GCWR, it should haul my dirtbikes and travel trailer with ease. Figure to run around on the 28gal propane tank during the week. I will win the BIG TRUCK award at work. Just hope I can live with 19.5" wheels and 4.88 rear end.
Getting my seat belt recall work done tomorrow, hopefully, as they got the parts in Monday. 4.8L is still kicking butt, hope the tranny and diffs hold out for another year or so of towing right at the GCWR for my little 1/2 ton Silverado.
Probably gonna go join or start a new topic, "F450 Bifuel". Yawl have fun! The Silverdo topic has been a great source of info and amusement!
I've got 22K+ on mine and haven't used any yet. I have been considering it for the same reason (maintenance). I don't think it really needs it, but, regarding the fuels, I've always felt "how clean are they really".

I think you mentioned you used it twice. Any thoughts on which one would be better than the other or are they all the same?
John
A Kenworth by any other name.
Luv ya buddy, but YOU'RE NUTS!
If I can find your girlfriends name...gonna forge your name on a power of attorney and have you committed!
Have fun.
oby...still not sure about amsoil. they scare me. i want to say the part # is TS 123 (TS=two stage, which according to their site is for passenger cars...???)

Anyway.....I called the dealer (2 dealers) and they said they would replace motor, etc. One dealer said it may be something causing noise that warranty did not cover. He also said it was a 2-3 hours job to take the dash, etc. apart.
So I decided to fix it myself.....I went out and looked under the dash and pulled, hit, slammed, etc. and then started up the fan. Guess what: noise gone. I then I'll write GM and start a TSB with my cure. Anyway, I apparently pulled or hit the thing that was causing the noise....it's gone anyway.
Thanks for help and advice....
John
