Series two Discos are better but the 2003-2004 New Discos are the best.
The 2002 Disco two I had for a DFL rarely had any problems and it was frame damaged. That Disco has floated around the dealership as a DFL for various people, off-road demo vehicle, drop and leave loaner, valet vehicle, etc. for years and the most serious problem with it was the AC and driver's side heated seat cut out.
It stalled out on me twice, both times while making a right turn, but I started it right up after i pulled over. Turns out a wire in the ECM came loose, probably while using it as an off-road demo vehicle as at the time it was getting more off-road miles then on road, but once that was fixed it was fine.
Go with a 2000-2002 and have it inspected by a good Land Rover dealer or an independent shop that specializes in Land Rovers.

I hope you are at Metro or Buerkle (we service the CR-V there).
If you will list that family member or close friend under the term ICE, the EMT's will know who to call. If you wish to list more than one person, use ICE1, ICE2, etc. This could help the accident victim because the family member may know about medications and certain health conditions. It also enables family members to reach their loved ones more quickly.

Two more:
Put a space in Front of the "ICE" and it will be at the top of the phonebook listing in your cell phone.
Put the name after "ICE" so that the entry reads "ICE Matilda Lindquist." (My apologies if that's someone's name on this discussion.) That tells the emergency folks whom they might reach on the other end; especially helpful if the situation is really critical healthwise.

I remember well, back in the early 70’s, both car salesman and a lot of buyers said the same thing about buying Japanese and I was one of them. Then people realized there are other companies that can make reliable sheet metal with wheels on them. Look what it has done for you. I think you like your way of life better now than when you worked at Sears or sold tools.
It sickens me to think that the car manufactures in this country let this market and the jobs it provided go to other countries. There is no excuse for allowing that to happen. I think this country is starting to climb out of the cavern it dug for itself but oh what a price that was paid for the wrong approach to building cars. I just hope it doesn’t take too long.
I just beat around the bush a little but to answer your question, people probably feel there is value in buying Korean. Thankfully, I can afford to buy just about any car I chose but since a car is primarily an “A” to “B” device for me, I go the route of reliability/quality for the best price. I’ve never bought the low end model of any car manufactures car line, even I enjoy some creature comforts and this is where value has gotten my attention and I believe the attention of a lot of other car buyers.
Competition is good for buyers. I’m not so sure it’s good for sellers; especially in your biz.

Your modification to it is also good advice. I added the persons name after ICE but not the space before ICE.
Before I go back in there to make that change, I'm going to wait to see if there are any other suggestions. I can't be playing with this contraption all day, you know.

And I agree with everything you said.
The American manufactures and the UAW were asleep at the wheel, building cars with marginal quality while the Japanese watched and learned. I do believe lessons have been learned and they are now building better cars. I just hope it isn't too late for them.

My thoughts exactly. That pretty much sums it up for me. I'm not picky, just insist on very few creature comforts.
The other contenders are the Accord, Outlander and Lancer vs Civic. Unfortunately, currently there's no such wonderful choice as the 2005 CR-V SE we now have. The closest is the new Outlander, but when I option it the way I want, just for the purpose of having heated seats one has to add two packages for about 3K, and at that point we're well into a CPO X3 territory.
And then the small issue that my wife scoffs when I mention Hyundai.
By the way they are giving a Ford Escape Hybrid away at CVS pharmacy in Dallas.
Short story, a previous customer of mine comes in on Saturday. Time to get the wifey a new car. She currently drives the last Camry I sold them. One of many. Mike now tells me she's also interested in the Accord. No problem. I send them to lunch in a Camry and he comes back by himself and tells me they parked right next to a new Accord at the restaurant they had lunch at. Not my cousin's Angel restaurant. Just happens that the new Accord belongs to the restaurant manager and she gets all giddy about it and shows it to Becky. She falls in love with it and they go to a competing dealer to test drive one. This dealer is one of the biggest auto group in the country so they let them drive the car for the weekend.
I call Mike early yesterday to find out what's it gonna be? Camry OR Accord?
He calls me back and says he'll meet me at the dealership in 30 minutes. .....

So with that being said I don't even know why we will bother playing the rest of the season in the NFC, looks pretty cut and dry to me.
BTW, There you have an example of what I talked about in a Managers meeting this morning, we did not spend one second talking about 4 pounders, clubbing baby seals, or beatin them like they stole something.
The only work we talked about was around 15 minutes on our save a deal a day program.

I was taught that it is never ok to say anything even remotely negative about the competition no matter what the forum. I've only been in this business for 10 years so I am just learning but that smacks of a weak salesperson who cannot articulate his thoughts on the strengths of his own product. Any one can yell " The other guy sucks!" but it doesnt necessarily ring true to a customer. they are very perceptive.

We have the Barcelona red which is more red than burgundy." I tell him. "I want a black Camry." he replies. Knowing I don't have one on the lot I tell him I can dx one in and he responds: "That's like $300.00 more if you have to go get it right?"
"I won't charge you that. Same price as if it was here, unless I have to go to Bumstead Egypt or some place too far away."
I go to the sales desk and talk to the NCM and tell him what I'm working with. I also look at our incoming inventory and there's three black LE's being built this week which should get here before XMAS. NCM doesn't want to take a chance and does a locate. There's one close by that we can get. I go back to Mike and give him a price of $19,990.00 plus fees.
"I have to take this car back and get my trade." he says.
"No problem. In the meantime I'll call the NCM at our Honda store and see what we can do on the Accord."
He leaves and I get to the phone.........TO BE CONTINUED.....

isn't that the only way to get someone into an escape? i mean, you know why they call it the escape, right? cause once you buy one, there is no escape from it.
seattle doesn't have the defense to stop the cowboys anymore. this dallas team is way better than last years team that should of beat seattle easily. seattle isn't the team they were last year, and with "now i got paid so i don't have to work alexander" "running" the ball, they don't have the balance to stop the dallas defense.
Try this one: "That's great! Are you looking for new or used?" wait for a response. "We don't know yet." says the customer(s). "Let me show you where everything is. On this row we have new cars. On this other row is our used inventory. My name is Joseo, here's my card. Feel free to browse and I will be right over here if you need me." This is non-threating and it puts the customer at ease. They will find something they like and come and get you to answer their questions. Most of the time they will call you right as you start walking away.
The main thing is you have to show some enthusiasm. Make the customers feel special. Show them you are happy to see them. Once they open up to you they will be eating from the palm of your hand. The main thing is you have to earn their trust before they will say yes at the close.

Does Budget (and the other rental companies) lease or buy their cars from the manufacturer? Presumably Ford Credit pays Manheim to prepare the cars for auction so as to realize a better price, probably with the cost being extracted from the previous lessee / owner when the car was turned back in. Is this a correct description of the process when buying a car at auction?
all it needed was a clamp on the hose for the power steering and 4 tires.
I can’t answer your question about what the MB needs but I’m surprised you could get away with a hose clamp to fix a leaking power steering hose.
When I tried to fix a leak on a power steering hose on a 75’ Grand Prix, at the power steering pump, I cut the steel tubing right before the steel crimp on the hose (so I could cut off the crimp on the hose and slide the hose over the remaining tubing stub still attached to the pump). Since I knew there was a fair amount of pressure in that system, I used TWO hose clamps. I patted myself on the back and started up the car to check for leaks. By the time I got to the bumper, there was power steering fluid (transmission fluid in those days) spraying EVERYWHERE.
Lesson learned. Replace the entire hose with the steel crimp fittings on both ends.

I don't think it's any more complicated then they are cheaper then similar Honda’s or Toyota’s, that is the one reason I look at them. I think you may be thinking since Honda's are more reliable why would one consider a Hyundai? For some, autos are already 10x more reliable then what they grew up with, so it's simply not part of the equation. Styling may be more appealing to some too, but that's a matter of taste.
