    No third manual not good, has to be a hard part problem. Call or visit a local transmission shop, not chain, they just want to replace. Common unit, they will know right off.

    I have a '00 S10 4 cyl auto. My problem is the transmission will slip in drive & 3rd if going over about 30mph. The fluid level is fine. What might be the problem ?

    Dave - I ran into the same problem with my Dads 97 S10. As it turned out it was an electrical issue vice mechanical.

    To make a long story short, I had to change out the ignition switch wiring harness in the steering column.

    89 s-10 4X4 Automatic running fine untill yesterday i passed someone and felt funny, after that it only got up to 20 mph the rpm seemed ok or rather the engine revs up but no response from transmission. Any ideas would be most welcomed.

    1993 s10 2.8l 5 speed my truck recently started making noises sound like the throwout bearing.when clutched depressed the noise goes away.this morning the transmission popped in 5th gear.the only gear i have now is 4th gear no 1st 2nd 3rd 5th no reverse.the truck will start in nuetral and in any gear.so the clutch should still be good .something to do with the shifter???shaft???any advice.

    have a 2001 s-10 with 109,000 miles transmission all of a sudden whined and then quit. stoped at stop sign and it would not pull.

    2001 gmc sonoma 2.2l 4cyl automatic

    So, was in a hurry and shifted from park in drive and may have pushed gas down on my may through shifting. Now, the truck will only move in R,1,2. When I put it in D or 3, it just revs high on the rpm but will not move. Check fluids and ok. The truck was working fine, was driving to a gate then got out to open then when I went back and shifted into D, it made a funky noise and stopped working.
    Definitely f'd it up!

    Any suggestions to fix/total damage?

    Does anyone know where i can get a picture of the clutch pedal assembly so i can see how the hardware goes together like the detent and detent pawl hooked to pedal and cable thanks

    Ihave a 2001 Sonoma that just started doing the same exact thing and then works ok then done it again, and now its not doing it. Did you ever find out anything?

    Chevy s10 2001 automatic truck all of a sudden will not shift into any gear, even reverse. If you shut off and restart it will go into drive or reverse and drive for about 1/4 mile (till it is just ready to shift gear) and stops shifting again. If you start it and just sit in it and reve engine for a little bit then try to put in reverse or forward it will not do anything. Which leads me to believe it is electrical not transmission any help appreciated.

    I had a similar problem with a 97 s10 automatic not shifting properly. Long story short, I had to change out ignition switch assembly and wiring in steering column. It took me a couple of hours and around $100. For the part at autozone.

    I have a question..... my 94 s10 tranny will go 50mph when red lining and won't shift after that it works in every gear just don't Luke to shift I have to play with it for it to shift when it does.....got the truck yesterday and haven't touched a thing....and I can't check fluid level .....dipstick broke :open_mouth:

    ok im sorry to jump in here but i need some advice i have a 2000 s10 2.2 rwd.... so here is the problem my truck runs and drives great it shifts into all gears very smooth the only problem is wen im in 3rd and 4th it will slip but just real quick then it will grab again and it will just keep doing it on and off...has anyone had this problem?? i know the 4l60e has a problem with the 3/4 clutch burning up on them so i rebuilt it and guess wut the clutch packs looked great so now im sitting here scratching my head and was hoping someone may have had this problem and solved it.... also in tearing it down i noticed there was alot of metal dust and peaces of wut looked lik friction material but as i said the clutch packs looked great and had no signs of breaking apart... i have it all cleaned and ready to go back together hoping maybe it was a bad forward drive piston but before i put it back in the truck i figured i would check on here to see if anyone had any clues>>>>> any help would be great thanks.....!!!!!
