I hate Reagan, with a passion because of what he did to the air traffic controllers. I don't care if he was President of the union for the Screen Actors Guild. His Alzheimer's made him not fit for duty and he should of been forced to resign. The guy lost his mind and we are still paying for his mistakes today. Anyone who would give a corporation "My families tax payer money" to out source a job should of been tried for treason. You can try to make him a hero all you want but the facts are the facts. The guy was a anti-union scum bag scab!!!
LOL....You really think Reagan, was in control??? Nancy, was running the country and Reagan, was still good in front of the camera and could read the cue cards like a script. Watch some of his old speeches and you can see his eyes. The guy was a actor and not qualified to be commander in chief. I suppose we should run Brad Pitt, since that is all it takes to be president. :confuse:
Yeah he was the biggest anti-american worker president of all-time. Thank-you Reagan. Now you wonder why we have no good jobs left in this country and everyones position in every field is on the line!!!
>The ones that get bottom dollar for fear of being deported are not here LEGALLY
No so. There are immmigrants who are here legally, got a great job, but the company went C11. So now as an immigrant worker he needs work to stay in the USA within 30-90 days or else he has to go back to where he came from. In those cases, they will even accept jobs at half the payscale than the market rate. And there are some who are like Rocky...I am in CA..my friends are in CA. I am not going to move to TX. And he ends up accepting jobs for less so that he can stay with friends and family.
rocky: my next car will probably be a 1-2 year old STS, Jag XJ8 (American owned in those years until sold by Ford in 2008), maybe a Lexus LS 430 used...the Caddy and Jag are in a tie for 1st place...I just have to decide whether I want the Caddy for more dealers to repair or take a chance on the luxury of the Jag, but fewer dealers in Alabama and Mississippi in case I break down
Please don't buy a GM car whatever you do!!! :surprise:
That is all the barbs thrown at me I remember...I am sure I missed a few...
Oh, yeah...rocky...I know the difference between Rush and Dobbs...it is just intereesting that anyone YOU listen to makes sense, and anyone the rest of us listen to is junk...yet who employs Dobbs???...CNN, the Ted Turner network, a one world gov't person if ever there was one...
If you remember right that Dobbs, left CNN because he and Ted had a falling out on how he was going to report the news. Dobbs, told Ted to go to hell. It wasn't until Ted, realized how important Dobbs was to CNN that he offered him his job back. Dobbs, wouldn't take the job unless he got to report the news his way thus you have "Lou Dobbs Tonight" 7 p.m. EST arguably the best show on Television.
dude, you are going to do what you are going to do, come hell or high water, aren't ya, man?
That's the way I roll!!!
For all of the high prices, road rage, heavy traffic, 90's Supersonic's victories under George Karl coaching Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton, that job making and revising Tubing, Attach Point and Electrical Production Illustrations on 747, 767 and 777 Boeing widebody jetliners was a great job. You will read me whine about it on here, but, I was prepared to work there for 20 more years and then retire fat, happy and although not rich, well-paid.
Didn't happen. rockford...was I to give up and cry in to my Dr.Pepper?
I thought you moved to Arizona, because my Utah Jazz, with Stockton and Malone were kicking your Supersonic AZZ :P Seriously uncle sam has sold Boeing down the river on more than one occassion by farming out work to oversea's. I still think it is treason. Anything made for the government should be american made.
Guess what two jobs made my new Job's Finals? Respiratory Therapist and Hotel Management. Both were growing fields in 2003. Nursing at that time was growing 50% and Respiratory Therapy was growing at a 45% clip.
So off we went, enjoying the beauty of Whatcom County and then heading south to our home County of Skagit County, enjoying viewing the huge fields of tulips and daffodils starting to pop up. I knew that I needed to get this hammered out ASAP, lingering was not a viable option for my wife and I and our Norwegian Forest cat, Tabitha, and our two Poms, Abby and Rocky.
You love me so much that you named your dog after me??? :P :shades:
Was it easy? No way! rocky, I am telling you it can be done. I no longer live in Washington state, I'm in Cochise County, Arizona, where Geronimo used to roam. There are illegals all over this County, so far they appear to leave us alone. Our hospital is moving up, buying new equipment and installing new signage, I may even get a pay increase this year. Our benefits are already the best in any hospital in southern Arizona.
It can be done, rocky, even someone like you, can do it. I came from a manufacturing job at Boeing. People can change workframes.
You didn't do it all by yourself. You had your loving wife. I as I said did it and was miserable. I am going to stay put for now.
>If you remember right that Dobbs, left CNN because he and Ted had a falling out on how he was going to report the news. Dobbs, told Ted to go to hell. Richard, where art thou???
In case you wonder, Richard is the official Edmunds Grammar Professor
> and Reagan, was still good in front of the camera and could read the cue cards like a script. Watch some of his old speeches and you can see his eyes. The guy was a actor and not qualified to be commander in chief.
Do I need to fit these to the current C-in-C? Amazing parallel. We just bowed to a Saudi King... Guess he couldn't see the teleprompter or Axlerod wasn't close enough to tell him what to do.
Despite PATCO Reagan was great. I know because a liberal I worked with still hates him!!!!
No.... My point is both manufacturing unions and doctor associations have similarities and get togeather either in person, written, to form an alliance in numbers to accomplish a common goal.
So imidazol97, you believe that giving a company a tax break to ship a job oversea's was a good thing??? If so I guess you would find him great.
Sooooo. Reagan was so bad for the US (I don't like jobs going overseas) that Clinton immediately put a stop to it with executive orders... right? :grin
The only thing they like is their jobs. They are even afraid of new employees. The senior line workers make the young guys take pay cuts. Talk about depleting your talent base. GM has made so many bad cars by UAW labor it is not even funny. They Saturn Ion has a center mounted dashboard display. The UAW was too dumb to switch from left to right.
Things the UAW doesn't like: -Republicans -Democrats -Southerners -California -Robots -The Future -Work -Asians -Europeans -Canadians -Terminator Movies -News -Education -Technology -Getting on time to work -Management -Mexico -Anyone born that is not legacy UAW -The word quality -Consumer Reports -JD Power -Rush Limbaugh -Barack Obama -History -Other Unions
You know why, because "They took our jerbs!" :lemon:
Rocky, maybe you can sue GM. All of those cheap plastic fumes definitely hurt your reasoning skills. Maybe you can team up with the UAW a form a class action suit. :P
Or we can be dummed down by Saturn Ions, Astro Vans, Yukons, Hummers, Cobalts, the entire Pontiac line, and all those Cobalt steering wheels in Corvettes.
I'll stick with a Ford. At least they learned from the companies they purchased instead of pushing cheapness on them.
While 76% of survey respondents want to see the automakers face bankruptcy.
That is a lot more than all the UAW members in history put together. Maybe if GM made some cars that people cared about the number would not be so high. :lemon:
I hate Reagan, with a passion because of what he did to the air traffic controllers.
Let me point out - for the 10th time - that the PATCO strike was flat-out illegal & that firing the strikers, as Reagan did, was the right thing to do. Air traffic controllers are employees of the Federal government, & Federal employees are not allowed to strike. It's that simple. I was a Federal employee back then & I was told on my very 1st day of work that I would be fired if I went out on strike. The striking controllers knew that they were breaking the law but figured - wrongly, as it turned out - that the government would knuckle under, give in to their demands & not punish them for breaking the law. Reagan called their bluff, & the rest is history. The strikers gambled & lost. Don't shed any tears for them.
Those of us who were Federal employees back then viewed the controllers as a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. In 1980, I earned $22K/year in a position that required a 4-year college degree. Controllers, who did not have to be college grads, earned almost $40K/year before overtime. It was not uncommon for a controller who worked at a busy airport to pick up enough OT to make $75K - 30 years ago! The only non-management Federal employees who earned that much money in those days were VA doctors & Justice Department lawyers.
Incidentally, Rocky, the controllers who were hired to replace the strikers will be retiring soon, & the FAA is looking to hire a couple of thousand trainees to replace them. The training isn't easy, but an experienced controller can make $95K before OT. You might look into this.
Those of us who were Federal employees back then viewed the controllers as a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. In 1980, I earned $22K/year in a position that required a 4-year college degree. Controllers, who did not have to be college grads, earned almost $40K/year before overtime.
Back in '03 I had a neighbor that was a radar tech for the FAA (he repaired the radar systems) and he talked about the controllers the same way. He couldn't stand them. Back then he said their base was over $80k's and easily made over $100k. No doubt it's a demanding and stressful job though. Considering what a Captain in the plain can make it probably isn't out of line.
I know a lot of people knock Reagan for the striking controllers, but in my opinion it was the right thing to do as they were breaking the law, period. I guess I just don't react well with ultimatums. If it would have been me, I would have done the same thing. Tell me that I have to do something or else, well, try me, and don't let the door hit you in the [non-permissible content removed] on the way out!
" I'm not sure I'm police officer material. There is too much paper work and all they do is write tickets to generate revenue. That wouldn't a fun job in my books as I'd want to let most people go."...even if they were driving foreign cars with bumper stickers that said "To Hell with the UAW, I Bought Import Quality"...???
rock, you simply have to get ready for change, the kind of change that was coming long before Obama came on the scene...
You can deny it all you want, but regardless of your globalist theories, the UAW spent years making crap cars...too many posters here have testified to their experience, and only lemko has had the opposite experience...you also fail to acknowledge that no one forced the buyers to buy Honda and Toy, so they must have been ATTRACTED by something, and that something was quality and reliability...the average guy on the street knows nothing about your globalist theories or your hatred for Reagan, who had the guts to stand up to a PATCO union that broke the law...all they know is that the cars they used to buy were junk, and they switched to imports, and, for the most part, were happy...that is the simple truth that you have avoided for 10,000 posts...they left UAW cars because someone else offered something better...and the UAW, even today, has no response to that...none...they tried the "Buy American" stuff, tried the "Your neighbor's job depends on your purchase" and all that other rah-rah crap, but they never offered and equal or superior product...
sadly, lemko's experience is unique, or at least not as common as the satisfied import buyer...all the lemkos out there obviously do not buy enough cars to stop the shrinkage of the Big 3...you have no response because there IS no response...ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS OFFER AN EQUAL OR SUPERIOR PRODUCT, but they had to impress a lot more people than lemko...all of lemkos writings mean nothing, because it isn't the satisfied people causing the UAW to die, it is all of the dissatisfied people that voluntarily moved to imports...
Crying that we are losing our industrial base is, really, NO reason to buy a Big 3 car...if it rattles, is unreliable, does not fit together right (all from poor UAW workmanship), or just seems poorly designed (management), your argument to buy American to keep the plant running is hollow...who has the money to waste on UAW junk???...you think folks have an extra $30K to waste on a UAW junk when they can spend their money on a finely tuned import machine???
You never offered the quality, only the excuses, and poor ones at that...it is child's play to get someone to buy UAW, and, considering the overall intelligence and skill level of the UAW, it almost HAS to be child's play, and that is...make a better car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UAW had played catch-up for too many years...frankly, UAW quality for years was the same as what "Made in Japan" radios were in 1965, which was junk...the Japanese simply got better and better while UAW used it power to make trash and did not care about their customers...in 1995, they were saying that UAW quality was catching up to the Japanese, but it was the Japanese quality level of 1985, and the Japanese were continually improving their quality, so they were a moving target...
You can argue about Toyota sludge all you want, it did not cause as many buyers to desert Toyota as the rotten quality of 25-plus years of union trash from your UAW...if you folks took one minute to look in the mirror and see what you have sold us for 3 decades, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, as for quite some time, Tonka Toys were made better than your average UAW product...
Your arguments are all academic, based on no reason whatsoever, simply because the entire US market has spoken, and the market share of Big 3 cars is so far down because so few people want to buy them, totally voluntarily and willingly...
Your answer is to stop the Japanese from importing here because you KNOW your products and your worthless employees are inferior...rather than trying to actually compete with a better made car, you simply want to deprive Americans of the opportunity to buy a quality automobile...your UAW thinking comes down to one basic concept, anything to bring us all down to the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR...DON'T MAKE A BETTER PRODUCT FOR US TO WANT TO BUY, JUST USE THE LAW TO KEEP THE BETTER PRODUCT OUT OF OUR HANDS...you know your product will not stand up to scrutiny, so you want to "fix the fight" by making sure Americans cannot see the better product...hell, the Chevy Vega would have been a great product if it was only compared to a Yugo...
You have lost in the marketplace because your product is not as good...when people who don't know cars leave UAW to buy Honda and Toyota, they don't know the stuff we discuss here, they only know that the car seems better...the odds of them buying a good one are high, prompting the purchase of another, and the UAW has pushed away another customer for good...
My uncle was a traveling salesman (no jokes, please) for years, and he hardly knew where the ignition key went...he drove American station wagons for years because he needed the space for his wares...he often complained about the noises and rattles in his cars, but it was all he knew...when he retired, it took about a week and he bought an Accord...he never knew how quiet a car could be until his Accord...he was a dyed-in-the-wool Big 3 car guy, never owned an import until retirement...that was about 15 years ago...I think he is on his 3rd or 4th Accord now, and he never looked back...
rocky, he had no beef against the UAW, like I do, because, like many Americans, all he knew was where the key went, but he knew what he called a quality car...and he knew the Big 3 failed to give him what he needed, except a car big enough for his products...once he did not need the huge car, the Big 3 lost him because of quality and reliability and simply a well made car...
Multiply him by millions, and now you know why your words fall on deaf ears in the marketplace...we simply do NOT have the quality, or he would have stayed with the Big 3...does not matter what JD Power says, because millions of buyers drive the imports and something says they want to switch...
All your rah-rah has meaning to you, but not in the marketplace...you cannot compete on the basis of quality, so you want to deprive us of the better product because you are unable or unwilling to actually take the time to make the better product...your UAW must die simply because they refuse to make the car better than the imports...
You people sit there and wonder how you lost so many customers, and yet you cannot look in the mirror and understand you pushed, no, THREW us away with 30 years of junk...the market sees it as junk, and you UAW sheeple have no clue...you yell out "solidarity" as tho it means something, but it is as simple as making the better car, the one t
What you study is actually less important than just getting a college degree. Getting any degree shows two things to an employer.
1) You can focus on a long-term goal when the benefits may be several years off. 2) You are persistent in trying to reach a goal, even when some of the requirements don't make any sense now.
Where D3 need to pay attention is the small car market. Then they can grow their own future consumers for their bigger and better cars. But that in itself is a long-term investment without an immediate payback.
I don't think any of them are taking vacations to Europe, thus they are still poor. Just because you earn something more than another person doesn't make you well off!!!
That would include me. I have never felt I could afford the high cost of travel to the EU. They may very well be poor. What do you call the people living in the ghettos of the USA? I think you are clueless to the workers in Mexico at the Auto plants. Just like here they line up for those jobs. They are for the unskilled and pay better than most menial work.
I drove the Escalade, Denali and Sierra on the new chassis. I was not impressed. The Escalade handled good, just butt ugly. None of them in the same league as the 2007 Sequoia. Sorry pal you are selling the wrong brand. Remember it took 5 GM vehicles before I switched. Maybe the cars have improved. I don't think the trucks have.
The striking controllers knew that they were breaking the law but figured - wrongly, as it turned out - that the government would knuckle under, give in to their demands & not punish them for breaking the law. Reagan called their bluff, & the rest is history. The strikers gambled & lost. Don't shed any tears for them.
That is absolutely correct. If Wagoner had half the brains of Reagan he would have stood up to the UAW in 1998 and GM would be making money. Instead he rolled over like a whipped puppy and gave the UAW anything they wanted. Little did he know they wanted to destroy the company that was paying them at least twice what they were worth. Wagoner had another chance in 2007 though they had pretty much neutered him by then. GM is a worthless shell of a company from the top guy to the janitor. They just need to go away so real auto makers can get back down to business.
PS Tell the 1000s of people stranded that Reagan did not do the right thing. I know I was one of them stranded and sleeping on a concrete floor in the Anchorage Airport. Reagan was a hero and the BEST president in modern times. At least since Teddy Roosevelt.
I heard Wagoner talking at the Congressional fly-in-on-a-nice-jet and then beg-for-a-handout meetings...I was in my den here on my comptuter...my son was in the living room watching CNN. I had to get up and round the corner and see who it was.
"Who is that talking right now?" I asked my son.
"Umm....I'm not sure."
"Is it Wagoner, the GM CEO?"
"Umm...".
Then I saw his face so I knew it was him. Sheesh, he was speaking as if he had fallen on his head at a Metallica concert and couldn't form complete sentences. No wonder he couldn't stand up to the UAW carnivores. He's in first gear on a constant basis.
I mean, I know that sometimes we might get to moving too fast at times, but, Mr.GM CEO, is anyone home inside your noggin?
Alan Mullaly would've canned their fannies earlier and started rebuilding back in the late 90's round about when Hyundai bought 51% of Kia.
Hey, GM, UAW workers, this is an import. It's shiny, goes fast and looks good. It's reasonably priced, has a great Long-Haul Warranty, and guess what? It stays together at it's hinges and door mechanisms!
The 2010 Kia Forte Koup
I have heard people disrespect Kia Motors for years here on Edmunds. I knew after driving my '99 Kia Sephia, that Kia knew what they were doing. There were Sephia clubs strouting up all over South Korea. I started to really get attached to my Sephia.
Getting the '01 Kia Sportage 4X4 was a natural progression along for the two of us. And it was a vantastic little SUV. Now it's the '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, this rig also has a 10 year and 100,000 mile Warranty, being brought over to Mitsubishi by Finbarr O'Neill, a former Hyundai CEO who went to Mitsubishi and is no longer there.
Point being, the import thing is working here, rockford. It is not illegal to buy an import. Once Congress rules it illegal I may have to buy domestic. The new 2010 Ford Fiesta/Verve 4-door sedan could work out being in our dusty SE Arizona driveway.
But an Italian-French or Chinese all-electric will probably beat Ford to the punch. Or we'll drive our '08 Lancer GTS 250,000 miles. Dunno right now, but getting a GM or Ford in the future is about as probable as the Orlando Magic winning the 2009 NBA Title. Chew on that one for a few seconds. Are Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis both healthy? And rockford, why do you like the Utah Jazz, wouldn't the Detroit Pistons be your cup 'a tea?
I know a lot of people knock Reagan for the striking controllers, but in my opinion it was the right thing to do as they were breaking the law, period.
Agreed. That's why illegal immigration is so aggravating. Do we have laws or don't we? If we have laws then nobody should be upset about what Reagan did.
I have a teenage son who complains about "ridiculous things" he has to learn and do at school. I often have to have that conversation with him. Let me add a couple:
What you study is actually less important than just getting a college degree. Getting any degree shows two things to an employer.
1) You can focus on a long-term goal when the benefits may be several years off. 2) You are persistent in trying to reach a goal, even when some of the requirements don't make any sense now.
3) A degree shows you are persistent. You can defer gratification to get a job done. Those are important qualities to be successful in a job, even if you don't use the material you learned in college. You finish what you start. 4) It's the price of entry. If the contest for a job is between you and a bunch of other people who didn't get the degree, you win. Society separates those into the ones who did it and the ones who didn't. Which one do you want to be?
When my son gets frustrated I tell him -- fine, don't study hard and don't get good grades. The SAT is rigged and ridiculous. If you don't want to go to a decent college and get a good degree you can always empty trash cans somewhere. Just don't expect the cushy salary and the luxuries of life if you take that path.
yep, Dad would tell me to get extra education at Boeing after hiring back in in November of '85. He told me "you don't want to go back to cleaning the meat room at Top Foods again, do you?"
Eeew....spraying down the meat room at that big box store in 1985, just before calling up my old Boeing Supervisor and getting my job back. Gross work, Dad was trying to impress upon me that management does put value on those that go the extra mile and take extra classes.
Getting a college degree speaks volumes about your personal attitude towards work and your work ethic. They take a lot of concentration and work, these college degrees. I know from personal experience. Hearing of students cheating on tests makes me sick, too. This nation can appear to be chock full of losers at times, ridiculously so.
Let me point out - for the 10th time - that the PATCO strike was flat-out illegal & that firing the strikers, as Reagan did, was the right thing to do. Air traffic controllers are employees of the Federal government, & Federal employees are not allowed to strike. It's that simple.
I don't care the government (Reagan) could of handled it another way. They were working them like slaves and they were fighting for issues outside of pay and benefits like safety. It's a damn shame a lot of good people lost there jobs for a cause.
I will gladly put up GM's products toe 2 toe against anything Ford, makes!!! GM, has overall better quality. You don't see many car of the year awards from Ford, do ya??? :P
I know a lot of people knock Reagan for the striking controllers, but in my opinion it was the right thing to do as they were breaking the law, period.
Do all the law breaking politicians and executives lose there jobs when they clearly break the law??? Why the double standard???
rock, you simply have to get ready for change, the kind of change that was coming long before Obama came on the scene...
The problem with your arguement is so many sheeple have been dumbed down and shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. They believe everything they see, read, hear from biased sources. As I said earlier it is laughable how you and many others hold PATCO accountable but allow crooks like politicians and executives screw people over and not cry or whine about it.
sadly, lemko's experience is unique, or at least not as common as the satisfied import buyer...all the lemkos out there obviously do not buy enough cars to stop the shrinkage of the Big 3...you have no response because there IS no response...ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS OFFER AN EQUAL OR SUPERIOR PRODUCT, but they had to impress a lot more people than lemko...all of lemkos writings mean nothing, because it isn't the satisfied people causing the UAW to die, it is all of the dissatisfied people that voluntarily moved to imports...
Has my experience been unique also. How about my ex girlfriend who has 310K on her 95' Lumina??? I spent the evening helping her with a cover letter for a job she is applying for. How about my dad's experience with almost 300K on his 98 Silverado. I didn't think you were a gullible person but I'm beginning to have my doubts when you believe every person outside lemko, has had bad luck with domestics. If you truly deep down believe that I truly feel sorry for you marsha7. :confuse:
Crying that we are losing our industrial base is, really, NO reason to buy a Big 3 car...if it rattles, is unreliable, does not fit together right (all from poor UAW workmanship), or just seems poorly designed (management), your argument to buy American to keep the plant running is hollow...who has the money to waste on UAW junk???...you think folks have an extra $30K to waste on a UAW junk when they can spend their money on a finely tuned import machine???
Again you avoided my question and I will ask it again and ask why in the hell do you buy Big 3 cars let alone GM ones the brand you hate the most??? :confuse: If people that buy them are stupid then what does that make you??? :surprise: I beg you to please not ever buy a UAW-Big 3 made car again since they are nothing but unreliable junk.
Again why do you buy them if they are junk??? :confuse: Does anyone else understand why he is ranting yet still buys them anyways??? :confuse: Something isn't jiving in this pumpkin patch lemko, imidazol97, fintail, gagrice, cooterbfd, dbostondriver, circlew, tlong. Please help me understand????
UAW had played catch-up for too many years...frankly, UAW quality for years was the same as what "Made in Japan" radios were in 1965, which was junk...the Japanese simply got better and better while UAW used it power to make trash and did not care about their customers...in 1995, they were saying that UAW quality was catching up to the Japanese, but it was the Japanese quality level of 1985, and the Japanese were continually improving their quality, so they were a moving target...
Well why aren't you buying those superior Japanese cars??? Please buy one. Whatever you do don't buy another UAW-GM one so I don't have to here you gripe!!!!
I will say that I see a helluva alot more 1980's domestic cars than I do Japanese cars. Lemko, what happened to all of those superior made 1980's Japanese Cars????
Your arguments are all academic, based on no reason whatsoever, simply because the entire US market has spoken, and the market share of Big 3 cars is so far down because so few people want to buy them, totally voluntarily and willingly...
Why does GM, sell more cars in this country than any of your beloved Japanese, companies??? :P
As I've pointed out to you before the import biased car mags can't ignore the "American Revolution" that has taken place by the Big 3 and I will put our best up against anyones.
If everyone is buying them then why in the hell is the Japanese car makers going to there government for bailouts??? :confuse: Why have there sales tanked??? With all the profit margin advantages one would think they could lower the price during these tough times on there superior products and capture even more market share but that isn't the "real" case is it??? The buying public isn't buying your hyperbole are they??? Oops Gottch ya!!! :P
I bet he purchased Norwegian sweaters to keep the wind from all the rust through holes on those rust buckets off of him!!! If your traveling salesman uncle who's knowledge you obviously worship one would think you would of followed in his footsteps and would be on your 3rd or 4th Accord too, no? :confuse:
rocky, he had no beef against the UAW, like I do, because, like many Americans, all he knew was where the key went, but he knew what he called a quality car...and he knew the Big 3 failed to give him what he needed, except a car big enough for his products...once he did not need the huge car, the Big 3 lost him because of quality and reliability and simply a well made car...
So the UAW workers are to be blamed for the design and engineering of the cars, right???
Multiply him by millions, and now you know why your words fall on deaf ears in the marketplace...we simply do NOT have the quality, or he would have stayed with the Big 3...does not matter what JD Power says, because millions of buyers drive the imports and something says they want to switch...
As I said earlier the sheeple are influenced by the media. Toyota, Honda, BMW, baught and paid for good reviews in car magazines and Consumer Reports. They hid there recalls for 8 known years. They rolled out the campaign that Toyota, is as american as apple pie and like many sheeple they baught into the lies and distorted truth. Your camcord owners have had many sludge and transmission issues and won't take care of the customer yet remember they are superior, right???.....RIIIIGHT!!!
All your rah-rah has meaning to you, but not in the marketplace...you cannot compete on the basis of quality, so you want to deprive us of the better product because you are unable or unwilling to actually take the time to make the better product...your UAW must die simply because they refuse to make the car better than the imports...
All your rah-rah-rah and yet you buy domestic cars and I believe own GM, right??? :confuse: I will be smiling ear to ear once you buy that superior Japanese car. if it has any problems you will be as quiet as mouse about it like all Japanese import owners. You will send in your Stalin Reports survey and give it great marks despite you having it in the service shop a dozen times.
Well we are just lucky we suckered enough of you into buying those pieces of crap made by those sewer rats like my father. Those no good worthless UAW workers intentionally wanted you to have a bad car and did everything they could to make sure it ended up in the shop, right??? My family did everything they could to make sure they screwed you over right??? Does that make you feel better??? If I sold you a car I would intentionally go out of my way to break something on your car just because I'm a no good son of a UAW [non-permissible content removed] also!!! Good Gawd!!! :confuse: dieselone please pour this guy a drink from the kegarator!!! :surprise:
Of course they will line-up for those jobs. When you are starving to death and don't want to smuggle drugs and be a law abiding citizen well the right thing to do is line-up for a automobile job.
My aunt knew some of the Utah Jazz players like Mike Brown, Karl Malone. I got Mike Browns autograph when I was in Salt Lake. Stockton and Malone were playing with the Dream Team thus I missed out on meeting them.
Your son probably finds that taking worthless classes are pointless. If we were smart like the Germans, we would set up our education system just like them and focus our money and attention on the skills needed instead of all the underwater basket weaving B.S. that makes college expensive and with that mentality you might find a lot more "Skilled-Laborers" in America.
".....No so. There are immmigrants who are here legally, got a great job, but the company went C11. So now as an immigrant worker he needs work to stay in the USA within 30-90 days or else he has to go back to where he came from. In those cases, they will even accept jobs at half the payscale than the market rate."
I accept that as valid. It's too bad these immigrants couldn't go to the INS and report the employer.
Then again, in a true free market, that's what a union would be for.

And there are some who are like Rocky...I am in CA..my friends are in CA. I am not going to move to TX. And he ends up accepting jobs for less so that he can stay with friends and family.
That is the difference!!!!

GM has made so many bad cars by UAW labor it is not even funny. They Saturn Ion has a center mounted dashboard display. The UAW was too dumb to switch from left to right.

You know why, because "They took our jerbs!" :lemon:
I'll stick with a Ford. At least they learned from the companies they purchased instead of pushing cheapness on them.
While 76% of survey respondents want to see the automakers face bankruptcy.
That is a lot more than all the UAW members in history put together. Maybe if GM made some cars that people cared about the number would not be so high. :lemon:
Tell me that I have to do something or else, well, try me, and don't let the door hit you in the [non-permissible content removed] on the way out!

rock, you simply have to get ready for change, the kind of change that was coming long before Obama came on the scene...

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
We all agree' the UAW stinks, GM makes bad cars, and Rocky breathed in to much GM interior.
PS
Tell the 1000s of people stranded that Reagan did not do the right thing. I know I was one of them stranded and sleeping on a concrete floor in the Anchorage Airport. Reagan was a hero and the BEST president in modern times. At least since Teddy Roosevelt.
2021 Kia Soul LX 6-speed stick
Agreed. That's why illegal immigration is so aggravating. Do we have laws or don't we? If we have laws then nobody should be upset about what Reagan did.

Well why aren't you buying those superior Japanese cars??? Please buy one. Whatever you do don't buy another UAW-GM one so I don't have to here you gripe!!!!

As I've pointed out to you before the import biased car mags can't ignore the "American Revolution" that has taken place by the Big 3 and I will put our best up against anyones.

With all the profit margin advantages one would think they could lower the price during these tough times on there superior products and capture even more market share but that isn't the "real" case is it??? The buying public isn't buying your hyperbole are they???
My uncle was a traveling salesman (no jokes, please) for years, and he hardly knew where the ignition key went...he drove American station wagons for years because he needed the space for his wares...he often complained about the noises and rattles in his cars, but it was all he knew...when he retired, it took about a week and he bought an Accord...he never knew how quiet a car could be until his Accord...he was a dyed-in-the-wool Big 3 car guy, never owned an import until retirement...that was about 15 years ago...I think he is on his 3rd or 4th Accord now, and he never looked back...
I bet he purchased Norwegian sweaters to keep the wind from all the rust through holes on those rust buckets off of him!!!
con't.....

My aunt knew some of the Utah Jazz players like Mike Brown, Karl Malone. I got Mike Browns autograph when I was in Salt Lake. Stockton and Malone were playing with the Dream Team thus I missed out on meeting them.

I accept that as valid. It's too bad these immigrants couldn't go to the INS and report the employer.
Then again, in a true free market, that's what a union would be for.
