Thanks for all your information. I, too, am in NOVA and have been looking at Ourisman, Fitzmall, KJ and Miller. I also decided to go for the V6 4x4 LTD, so you've helped me a great deal. Maybe I'll wait for the 2000 this weekend:)

Just don't do like Speedy, and not get the NAV...you'll love it! ;)
  • abtjmabtjm Member Posts: 9
Is the rebate for all the toyota dealerships? I am in Danvers MA. After the first time that I went to Ira Toyota, and tried to make a deal they keep calling me to go back. When I got there they gave different prices, and they said that the rebate that they have is $1200. They didn't mentioned the $2000.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
I beleive Speedy was just making a joke. ;)

You know the old deal about making a good deal, then finding out a day later it went on sale..... :P
  • speedy24speedy24 Member Posts: 3
Exactly correct, terry92270. Just joking. Sorry for any confusion.

I just bought this car from Castle toyota in Baltimore. I paid 33,244 with 0% 4 year financing (no rebate).
    Options:
    Nav
    Leather
    Heated seats
    Tow prep
    Sunroof
    Side curtain airbags
    Color: Silver

I also purchased the extended 6year/100K mile warranty for $1000. With tax (MD5%), title, tags, ext warranty, fees total was about $36K.
    How did I do?

    Thanks
  • abtjmabtjm Member Posts: 9
I have been trying to reduce the price and my last deal was 24,500. Do you think this is a good one? The sticker price was 28.950

The price is good, its $3000 below sticker price and considering 0% finance. But paying $36 K for HL is ;) , and my opinion, it was wiser to spend 42+TTL for a fully loaded RX350 AWD :surprise:

just bought a 06 4cyl with 3rd row seat in Southern California on Tuesday. Basic 6912 with the regional add ons.
    Mudguards
    Tint
    Power Drivers seat

for $25,028 OTD with 0% financing.(did not take 1500 rebate) Price on car was $22,924 before TTL.m (Tax aprox. $1900, License was $214, tire fee was $9.00) MSRP was $26,674. Thought I would be able to get into one for $24,000 OTD but the after shopping for a few weeks decided to get the color (blue)and interior (grey) before the Labor day rush. Stayed with the 4 cyl for the gas mileage. Best other prices received were $25,321 OTD and $25,518 OTD. No loss leaders the past few weeks in the papers for any highlanders around here.

    I just got a quote for 2006 Highlander V6 4X2, with
    AW-16in Alloy Wheels
    DJ-JBL Premium AM/FM/CD
NE-Urethane steering wheel with audio controls
PE-8-way power driver/4-way manual pass seat
    PG-Privacy seat
    SR-Sunroof
    TO-Tow Pkg
    RS-Rear Spoiler
    CF-Carpet Mat set
    GT-Nightvision Mirror with compass/Temp
Price would be $26489 after Rebate
    Drive out - $28383.34

Does this sounds reasonable? I live in Teaxs.
    Thanks for your input.
  • maxxladymaxxlady Member Posts: 21
Sounds a little high to me considering it's 4x2 and increased September incentive. Unless it's leather.
  • raejuneraejune Member Posts: 8
No, it doesn't even come with leather. I have shopped some Toyota dealers in Texas these two weeks to try to find some good deals but it seems Toyota has very a firm price tag. I think I'll wait it out longer till I can receive the best offer. For that price tag, I can get a full loaded Honda Pilot. :P
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
For that price, I would be checking out the Limited's. I think you will do better with them, if you can find one before the tax credit goes down.
  • raejuneraejune Member Posts: 8
Thanks so much for your input.
    What's tax credit? I hope I didn't ask a stupid question.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
The only stupid questions are the ones not asked. :)

    Check it out HERE ;)

For the Highlander, if purchaed before the 30th of this month (September), you will get a $2600 credit on your 2007 tax return. Purchase after the end of the month, and it falls to $1300.....

Your State may also offer additional incentives for purchasing a high MPG car as well, so it is worth checking out!
  • raejuneraejune Member Posts: 8
Thanks so much for this useful information. :) I might need to call my dealers to see if Highlander V6 4x2 is qualified for tax credit.
I wish I have my budget were big enough to get a Highlander Hybrid...
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
    2006 Highlander Hybrid (2WD & 4WD) & Camry Hybrid qualify for $2,600.

    Prius for $3150.

But ONLY for Hybrid, not the regular ones. But think about all the gasoline you would save over the next 5 years! ;)
  • strato435strato435 Member Posts: 14
I've just been quoted on a Highlander Hybrid AWD. It's a non-Limited, with a sticker of 35,298; the dealer is willing to sell it for 32,369. It's not the sort of discount from sticker I'd like to see, but perhaps that's the best that can be had for a hybrid today?

    I'd appeciate anyone else's perspectives.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Please let us know what "options" are listed on the sticker as added equipment..... :confuse:
  • strato435strato435 Member Posts: 14
Well, I'll never know. When I called back to the dealer to schedule a visit, he told me both of his Highlander Hybrids were sold today.

As I understood it, there were no options on the 4x4, V6 Hybrid (does that put it at $35k?)

When I've visited Toyota dealers in person, they've not been willing to negotiate the price of hybrids off sticker. Perhaps they're in short supply with the 2007s just around the corner? However, this one deal (presumably $3100 of of list) came via an Internet site, auto-by-tel.

Any suggestions on negotiating for a Hybrid?
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
The demand is so high, especially with the higher tax credits ending the end of this month, you really need to be prepared to pay at or near list.

From reading these forums, I understand the Limited's are indeed in very high demand, so dealers will have more standards than Limited's.

If you have done your research and test drives, and know this is the vehicle you indeed want, use the Internet, use Edmund's site for quickly searching and asking for a quote, and start searching ALL dealers within 4-6 hour driving time radius of your home. Then be prepared, no matter how short of notice, to drive there that hour once you have come up with something. Yes, they do go that quickly.

33,030 MSRP on the Highlander Hybrid

    Hybrid Limited is $37,890 MSRP

Check THIS LINK for what comes standard on the Highlander and the Highlander Limited. Basically, with the Limited, the only available option is the Navigation System. It comes with automatic climate control and leather. :)
  • abraindrainerabraindrainer Member Posts: 312
I would not pay a penny more than prices at carmax.com or fitzmall.com. In fact, you should only be able to do better that these dealership that post reasonable prices. My $0.02!
  • maryb1maryb1 Member Posts: 5
I have a depoist on a Hybrid Highlander Limited 4x4 with 16,000 miles mint cond for $29,000. With all the incentives out there, should I buy new or used? This is not a Toyota dealer so I don't get the certified warranty. I'm a little worried about the milage. What do you think? Mary
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Considering that on newcarmax you can get a brand new standard HH, with full warranty for $32,058 and damn few Limiteds to be had anywhere, I think that is a fantastic deal. 16K is not unusual for a new hybrid that someone was in love with, and drove all they could the first year....

With part of the money you are saving, which is about $8,000 under what a new Limited would cost you, if you could find one, go to warranty direct and buy an extended plan for it, about $1200 if you have concerns. ;)
  • laiwlaiw Member Posts: 9
I originally planned to buy a 06 pilot since Honda is giving $3000 dealer cash on that model. But it is getting really hard to find one. If I buy a highlander Base V6 model with 3rd row, how much below the invoice price or MSRP should I ask for? BTW, I am in Dallas area.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
I just saw this one at fitzmall.com..

    Body: 4DR LIMITED V6 AUTO
    Color: Black
    Interior: Ivory Leather
    Stock#: 186199
    Model#: 6938
    VIN#: JTEEP21AX60186199
    Delivered Internet Price: $32,529

Let that be your guide, or you could spend the couple hundred bucks to pick it up youself in DC. ;)

I went out car shopping this weekend (Labor Day) and found a 2006 HYBRID Toyota Highlander Limited w/Leather at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA that they were going to lease to me for 3 years, 15k miles per year, $3000.00 down and a monthly payment of $469.00 per month
which included tax & licensing. Is there a better leasing deal than
that out there? Is it possible to get a navigation system included
for that price or even less? If you have any thoughts about this
please respond to this post. Thank you.

If you lease, you will NOT be eligible for the Federal Tax credit, which I think is $2600 on the HH. Not certain on the amount, possibly $2150, but either way, you must BUY to qualify. This credit becomes half as much as of Oct 1, 2006.

I am trying to buy a red 4x2 v4 base highlander in South Florida. I checked one in Western Toyota on 8/27/2006, the options included
    Two Prep Package includes:
    50 state emissions
    6 gallons of gas

8 way power drive/4 way manual pass set
    Carpet Mats
    Fog Lamps
    Rear Privacy Glass
    ToyoGuard Plus Protection Group

He asked for $23300 OTD with Cash, or 25300 OTD with 0% finance, I offered him $24800 OTD with 0% finance. But When I came back to accept his offer on 09/02/2006, he doesn't want to give me this deal. We still have $2000 rebate in Florida, and it will expire on 10/02/2006.

So, What is the reasonable price for this SUV?

    Thanks in Advance!

I am looking at getting a highlander in the Twin Cities area and was wondering if anyone had bought one here and what they paid? I want the 4x4 V6 limited with leather, but any guide on prices here would be very appreciated. Specifically I have looked at Luther Toyota and was wondering if anyone has dealt with them?

    Thanks!
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Someone here might be in your area, but also check here on edmunds.com, as it gives you prices based upon your Zip Code. ;)

I bought at V6 4x4 Base Highlander at Ruty Luther's Toyota City last week. $27010 - $2000 rebate = 25010 plus TTL. I got these options: 1) Cold weather pkg. 2) Appearance Pkg. 3) Power Driver seat 4) Daytime running lights 5) Tow Prep pkg. 6) Carpet/cargo mat set. I did it all via email. Maybe I could've gotten a better deal, I don't know. I was ready to buy when they were only offering a 1k rebate in July, but never got around to it, so when my saleslady called and said Toyota had doubled the rebate to 2k, we didn't haggle. They had to get our color (indigo ink) from WI, but put it on a flatbed (no miles) and didn't ask for any add'l dollars. Overall, a good experience.

I am in market for new HL and was wondering what is a good price for this combination:

    Base HL 4x2 V6 w/ 3rd row (6918)
    Leather seat package
    Appearance package
    Running Boards

Is leather seat package available in 6918 model?
I got quotes from local dealers, but some of them are for Limited model (6932) and some for base model w/o 3rd row.
btw, I am in Southern California. Since last couple of weeks, I have not seen any loss leaders in local newspaper.

    Thanks
  • maxxladymaxxlady Member Posts: 21
FYI - Toyota has posted the 2007 Highlander brochure and specs on their website!!! As far as I can see, no change except some options standard (as stated prior). Also, I did not see a LTD w/o third row (was really hoping for that).
  • strato435strato435 Member Posts: 14
OK, I was just about to buy a 2006 Highlander Hybrid (standard) and now see that the 2007s are listed (if not available?)

The question is: should I wait, or purchase now?

I have a quote for a 2006 with no extras but for mats. The sticker on it is: $35,312 including shipping, and the price the dealer is offering is: $32,241.

Does it make sense to buy an '06 at that price now? and, are has anyone seen any changes that make it meaningful to wait?

    Thanks all! :confuse:
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
That seems high to me. Read back in this forum, that is the easiest and quickest way to check. ;)

I would most definitely go online and check the Internet pricing companies through Edmunds.com.
  • nomorebenznomorebenz Member Posts: 109
The price seems fair to me. $3,000 off a base model is pretty good. There are those who have done better but...
The $2,600 Fed Tax credit gets cut to $1,300 for deliveries after Sept 30. Some dealers are using this to their advantage. The 06 and 07 are the same except for different option packages and colors.
  • toyota_luvertoyota_luver Member Posts: 5
I got following qoute for 2006 Highlander Limited (model 6932A)
    It's 4x2 V6 Limited with 3rd row seat.
    Includes following options/accessories:
FE HD LA LL TO VV CF

    Heated Front Seats
    Leather Seat Package
    Tow Prep Package
    Extra Value Package
    Carpet/Cargo Mat Set

    $27346 which includes $2000 Rebate

Is this reasonable? Can I do better than this? I am in So Cal.
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
I have a home near Palm Springs, and cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would want a 4x2......one mile per gallon better?

Resale would be much higher on a 4x4....and in SoCal, you might have a better chance of a good price. ;)
  • heidigreenlawheidigreenlaw Member Posts: 26
We're in CT - We've received a quote on an 06 Limited AWD Highlander w/ Leather, heated seats, optional side curtain air bags, tow prep package, extra value package (6 disc in-dash cd player & cassette, moonroof, etc.) wheel locks & carpet/cargo mat set. The price we were given was $30,895 AFTER the $2,000 incentive/rebate.

Does that sound like a good deal considering it's AFTER the $2,000 rebate?

Also, who gets that actual $2,000? The customer or the dealer?

    Thanks!
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Since your price is quoted as "AFTER" the rebate, they would have you assign the rebate to them.

Edmunds says the TMV price for my area would be $38,190, before any rebates. You didn't say if yours had the third row seat or not, so this price is based upon no third row seat. With the extra row, add $500.

Since they are offering a seemingly good deal, I would suggest you get the NAV system, which is especially good with the Hybrid. It really is like a microwave, you cannot realize how valuable it is until you do without it. ;)
  • zeuspilotzeuspilot Member Posts: 18
Well edmunds shows MSRP $35,714 and invoice $31,620 for the HL limited with aforementioned options. You must have looked at Hybrid. >1k below invoice is good. But with 2k rebates, are we supposed to get 2k below invoice at least for '06 HL?
  • zeuspilotzeuspilot Member Posts: 18
MSRP for your config is $33,824 with invoice of $29,943.
2600 below invoice! That's an awesome deal. I am not able to find anything beat that in my region. Guess it's rather hard to squeeze any more, maybe try asking for some free installed accessories...
  • terry92270terry92270 Member Posts: 1,247
Sorry Zeuspilot, I was reading the discussion tree above:

You are here: Forums - Hybrid Vehicles - Toyota Highlander Hybrid - Toyota Highlander: Prices Paid & Buying Experience

And assumed we should have been talking about the Hybrid, since this forum comes after "Toyota Highlander Hybrid". I'll get their illogical threading system down one day, I promise! :P

Yea this discussion appears in both the HL (Highlander) and the HH (Highlander Hybrid) discussion groups -- am noticing the posters are getting better at specifying whether they're pricing the HL or HH.
