    Hi,
Back here since I might lease a i3,

Is the MF this month 0.00128 like last month. And it looks like the residual on a 36/15K is 50%. Is that right?

    Thanks

Correct on the residual, but the MF is .00130 this month. $7500 lease cash.

Thanks for the info, I'll post a detailed breakdown of the deal I negotiate on here after I buy, it might take about a week or two, if I decide to lease. I've posted detailed posts about my previous leases here too. I'm in SoCal so I'm trying to see which one is the best deal out of the 10 in my area.

    Hi kyfdx,

Can you give me residual and m.f. for i3 Range extender? Thanks.

I got the following from the local BMW dealer, the finance guy was busy but he did not come back with a quote for no money down.

    MSRP: 48200
    Sale Price: 43845
    Residual for 30 months: 58%
    MSD: 7 x $350 = 2450
    m.f. = 0.00129
He mentioned down of $4995 whick $2450 was security deposit, I think he mis-spoken, looks like $2545 down.

They are offering payment of 332.35 with tax totaled to 361.43.

Again, he just emailed the numbers but 7 MSD's should have brought down the money factor by a lot more, right? Also he mentioned the California state credit of $2500 is only good for leases 30 months or longer.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    2015? .00130 and 58% for 30/10 on the i3 with REX.

Max of 7 MSD would bring the MF down to .00081

I'm not sure how they get a payment in the $300's, though, unless the sale price doesn't have the $7500 in lease cash applied to it. If I apply that to your sale price, and use the .00081 MF, the pre-tax payment I calculate is $331.72, so pretty close to your dealer quote.

It is a 2015 and thanks for the quick reply, the numbers make sense except I went to 2 dealerships and both quoted 7 MSD's with almost no change in money factor. I believed the M.F. for this month is 0.0013.

One dealership quoted 0.00129 and the other was 0.00121 and both of them said 7 MSD's were used. The sale price does have 7500 applied but there is a tax on that rebate for $663 and $499 DMV fees. How the money factor is un-changed puzzles me.

    Thanks again.

That's because they are marking up the money factor the maximum amount allowed, before giving you credit for MSDs.

Unfortunately, consumer rebates are taxable in most states.

I've been conversing with ThreeEyes on another forum that is always down lately.

He mentioned there that he leased in California, for $510 a month, zero down, for the i3 with a MSRP of $54045, 12k/36 months. 7 MSDs. Tax rate of 9%.

I think I broke the numbers, if anybody leased recently or knows and I missing anything.

    MSRP: $54045
    Negotiated Price: $49335
    Lease Cash -$7500 off
    Team USA discount: -$1000 off
    Tax on the $8500 at 9%: $765
Reg fee, tire fee, doc fee, etc.: $567
    Acq fee: $795
    MSD: 0.00081 since 7MSDs
    52% residual since 12k/36

    about $510 a month.

Just an FYI for folks in CA, the breakdown I got from dealers on the $567 for misc fees:
    $24 Freight Fee
    $390 Registration
    $10 County Fee
    $29 Electronic Filing Fee
    $20 Smog Abatement Fee
    $80 Doc Fee
    $7 Tire Fee
$7.20 tax on the Doc Fee at 9%.

Hi Michael, could you tell me if this is a good deal please, in LA?

    2014 i3 REx
    MSRP $54,700
    Selling price $47,825
    Residual is 58%
    Money Factor .00130
    10K Miles per year
    $1500 total due at signing
    $497 a month tax included @ 30 months

With those numbers, I get $640/mo + tax. My guess is that the $7500 lease credit is deducted from the selling price, but other fees are being added in.

Get the dealer to disclose the net cap cost to you, and make sure you understand everything that went into that number.

    Michael or Kdfx,
Is there currently a two year lease special on the i3? If so, would you please provide residual (12k miles per year), MF, lease cash for 2015 i3 REX? I'm located in Missouri. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Michael or others:

First time leaser - could you help me determine if this is a good quote?

i3 with ReX, MegaWorld with Parking Assist for 24 months/10K miles per year:

    MSRP $48,795
    Selling Price $43,795
    Residual $30,740.85
    MF .00150
    Down payment $1,579
    Rebate $7,500

    Monthly payment: $371+ tax = $404

I didn't get any details about MSDs - how much of a difference would 7 MSDs make?

    .00130 MF and 63% residual. $7500 rebate + $1000 option credit.

Using your marked up MF of .00150 and subtracting the $7500 from the selling price, I get a payment of $331/mo.+tax. That is a $1000 discrepancy. I'm assuming that $1579 covers your first payment and acquisition fee, title/registration. If it doesn't, and the acquisition fee is added to the CAP cost, that could explain the difference.

You should ask for the CAP cost and the calculation on how they got there. That usually explains a lot, and that's where they can pad the payment.

MSDs would drop the payment by $30/mo. approx.

What is the $1,000 option credit that you indicated? Is it possible that this is not included?

The $1,579 covers the first payment and following:
    1st Month Payment 404.44
    Fees & Insurance 511.00
    Upfront Taxes 663.25
    Total Inception Fees 1,578.69

    Doc Fee 80.00
    Reg 355.00
    Flat Add/County Fee 20.00
    Tire Fee 7.00

MSD = Multiple Security Deposit. Each one, in the amount of the monthly payment rounded up to the next $50, lowers the MF by .00007. A maximum of 7 MSDs can be applied, lowering the MF by .00049. This reduces your monthly payment.

Best part - you get that MSD money back at the end of the lease.

What are the current incentives for a 2014 i3 REX? Is it still $5,375? Also, would you please provide the MF and RV for a 24 month/12K miles a year lease? Thank you!!!

Right as I was ready to sign for a VW Golf we came across the BMW i3. A local dealer (SF Bay area) is offering the following deal but the numbers aren't adding up. I'd really appreciate help please.

    Here's what he's quoting:

    30 months/10,000 miles per year.

    MSRP: $48,545
Selling price he quoted (I don't have it in writing): $43,410 plus $925 acquisition fee.
    58% residual.
    .00170 Money Factor

    $2,581.81 "Drive-Off."
    $397.92 for 29 months, including 8.75% tax.

I feel like there are additional fees he isn't telling me about because 58% of $48,545 is $28,156, so I should be paying for difference between $43,410 + $925 -$28,156, correct?

    That is $16,079.

Minus the $7,500 federal credit that will be applied as cap reduction as signing, that leaves me with $8,579 plus taxes, DMV, Registration fees, etc.

The total cost I come up with based on the numbers he gave me is $14,121.49 ($2,581.81 drive off plus $397.92 for 29 months) includes taxes, DMV, Registration fees, etc.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The 30 month, 10,000 mile lease numbers for the 2015 i3 are .00130 and 58%. There is a $1000 option credit along with the $7500 lease cash.

So, right off the bat, we can see that the dealer is marking up the MF for extra profit.

If I use the $43,410 selling price less the $7500 lease cash, the net cap cost becomes $35,910. Along with the MSRP, those numbers (and the base MF) give me a pre-tax payment of $341.75

CA taxes the monthly payment (I'll assume 9%), so the final payment comes out to $372.51.

The marked up MF is accounting for the $27/mo difference.

Is the Option Credit referenced here compatible with the TEAM USA Drive Credit? Or with the Corporate Fleet incentive? All three?

    I got the following offer:

    BMW i3 2014
    MSRP 45700.00
    Sale price 37765.00
    12k/24m lease
    Rebate 4875.00
    Residual amount 28334.00
Customer cash 887.97 (Advance payment: 324.43 + Upfront charges: 563.54)
    Money Factor 0.00125
Monthly payment with MI tax: 324.43 (306.07+18.36)

For 15k/24m my payment with MI tax would be: 363.58 (343.00+20.58)

Per my calculations, for 12k/24m total payment would be 290.34 and for 15k/24m it would be 330.60.

Am I correct or I am missing something?

My guess is that the rebate is already factored into the sale price. Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is for the quote they've given you.

Not entirely sure. Using the MSRP and sale price you've quoted, along with the 62% residual and .00130 (not .00125) base MF, I get a pre-tax payment of $478.89. If I subtract the $4875 rebate from the selling price, the pre-tax payment drops to $269.42.

Depending on the tax rate, your numbers look closer to my calculations.

However, the dealer may be adding in some fees and such to the selling price that is inflating the payment.

I think they included AQ fee (925.00) into the payment.

Which adds just less than $40/mo to the base payment.

Thank you Michael and all the other posters on this forum whose information allowed us to make a (hopefully) good deal on a BMW i3.

Here are our numbers for 2015 BEV model, Mega World plus upgraded wheels ($1,300) plus Parking Assistant package ($1,000). We purchased from a Bay Area dealership. We also got $500 off from USAA.

I think that they charged us more than .000130 for Money Factor and where they potentially made an extra $600 off of us. My bad and I will do better next time.

30 months/10K miles. $2500 Drive-Off, which we are hopefully getting back from the State of CA.

    MSRP: $45,695

    Gross Capitalized Cost: $48,050

Depreciation and and Amortized Amounts: $6,6365.88

    Rent Charge: $2,315.52

Total Monthly Payment (SF Sales Tax included): $314.70

If there are any obvious issues I should have picked up on with these numbers I'd appreciate feedback.

So far so good with the car. My husband absolutely loves the technology. Drives very nicely.
It only took a couple of trips to get used to driving with one foot.

$315/mo for a car that stickers at close to $46K is a good deal no matter what. Enjoy the i3!

    Hey Michaell,

Hoping to pick up an i3 today with last day of the month sales motivation. Here's the quote I got. Anything look off?

    MSRP 49,500
    10k, 30 months
    Residual $28,710
    Cap cost $44,988
    $7,500 rebate
    Adjusted cap cost $37,488
    Drive off $2617.62
$427 monthly payment including 9% tax but dealer used .0015 money factor. He will correct to .0013 and should bring it down to around $408.

Should I still be able to use the $1000 option credit? I don't think this is being applied anywhere.

    Thanks!

Not familiar with the option credit, but if they've already given you a complete quote, then they have included it.

    Hi there! First time poster.

Could you let me know how this deal looks?

54850 MSRP (this is a demo model with 2400 miles, however)
45285 selling price (apparently already factors in $7,500 rebate and $1,000 Team USA discount)

.00130 money factor (although he keeps flip-flopping on whether it is .00130 or .00150)
53% residual (minus $400 dollars due to miles, therefore $28484 residual) for 36 months, I'm not sure about 24 months

$2,000 due at signing to cover some taxes/fees (rest are being rolled into payment)

Also, they are cutting me a check for $3,000 to cover my remaining lease payments (I know that is a huge amount, but it seems to maybe be worth it considering the discounts right now, but I could be wrong.).

    For 36/10: $480 per month
    For 24/10: $440 per month

I'm new to this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

.00130 is the base MF this month. 36/10 residual is 53%; 24/10 residual is 63%.

We need to know the net cap cost (to reflect the fees that are being rolled in) in order to model a payment.

What are you leasing now? It's possible the $3000 isn't enough equity.

    Thanks for the reply Michaell.

Apparently the cap cost is $46,180.14

I currently lease a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium hatchback (18,000 miles on it). Since it appears a trade would be worse off in regards to negative equity, I suggested that the dealer cut me a check for the remaining 8 payments. I know this means I'll pay insurance for 2 cars for over half a year, but the discount on this car seems pretty significant even with the 3,000 rolled into it.

    Agreed, regarding the Focus.

Something seems off - using your numbers, I get $573/mo for 36 months and $589/mo for 24 months. It's possible the rebates and incentives are lowering your cap cost.

I went to the dealer to make heads/tails of the situation, and forgot to get the cap cost!

However, they were able to get me down to a $395 payment with the same $2,000 due at signing for taxes/fees/first month payment for a 24 month term.

With thy these seemingly aggressive discounts, it seems to be worth it even with the negative equity. After all, I currently pay $330 per month for a half-the-price Ford Focus.

I know you can't run the numbers without the cap cost, but I might just end up taking this deal. I'll of course see if I can bring them down even the tiniest amount more.

    Hello,

What is the MF and Residual for 2015 i3? Are there any incentives? PA?
