About the hitch, you could probably get a genuine Honda hitch by mail for around $250 and the savings would help pay for the installation. But I don't see 2017 hitches available at the online dealer I usually go to for pricing.
Is there any other reliable, low maintenance SUV with active safety suite?
I like the Tucson a lot and it can be had with a lot of the safety stuff. Make sure you test it in Eco mode from a lot of stop signs and stop lights though. Some of them "lag".
As a price point, best i've done so for is only $500 off MSRP or 1.5%! Slim pickens for a hot car.
2018 VW Passat SE w/tech, 2016 Audi Q5 Premium Plus w/tech, 2006 Acura TL w/nav
Yes, I'm basically stuck on the 2017 CRV EX because it seems like the best small SUV that has Apple CarPlay that is still under $30k. The RAV4 and the Forester don't offer Car Play or Android Auto at all otherwise they would be in contention as well.
http://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/
MSRP $31395 which includes $900 destination
Invoice $29574 which includes $900 destination (this is what TruCar reports)
or is it
Invoice $28621 as someone reported (destination included ?)
Has anyone done this price comparison?
Yeah, the only other vehicle in the small suv class that has carplay and android auto is the 2017 Kia Sportage. You can get carplay and android auto for well under 30K with a package update to the LX trim model.
Back in the day, it was all about horsepower. Now it's all about tech and mpg. I just got a rinky-dink dash cam for $7 that actually mostly works. Makes you wonder how much longer the automakers can justify $1,000 nav systems and $299 annual map updates.
The $2,000 pro pack is nuts - worst I've seen here is $1,495. The dealers with them wave them off almost before you can complain about them.
Invoice - $29,521
MSRP - $31,395
Sometimes they stick an ad fee in the invoice price, but we aren't showing anything, at least not for a DC area zip code. But that could explain the differences you are seeing with the invoice price.
TMV is the same at MSRP for DC, where Honda dealers are usually pretty aggressive with below invoice deals.
The Tucson we test drove was loaded - it was for sale at the local one price dealer so it was priced close to MSRP. Same dealer sells Hondas here and they are over-priced too.
I dunno, I recently commented that this is the best time of the year of buying cars, but the CR-V is just out and is in high demand so prices are still high.
If you wait, you'll save some money. If you buy today, you get to start enjoying the new car immediately.
Anticipation is half the fun, but the other 80% is actually enjoying driving the new ride!
I looked a a Costco F150 one day and concluded i could do better than Costco, but I don't think I can get a 2017 EXL AWD today for $28,621. So Costco wins on that one
P.S. If you are looking for max discount look at Buick Encore Loaded 28.7K less 10K = 18.7 no haggle dealership in St Louis area
it hard to understand your deal since you had a trade in and bought add ons
MSRP (with destination) for this one is $34,595
I ended up paying (Excluding tax, tags, registration):
Vehicle - $32,385
Doc fee - $135
I had financing in place at 2.24% - 60/months with DCU which I thought was very good, but they were able beat it with 2.14% so I went with their offer... I'm always happy to give the dealers as much of the business whenever I can.
I had been to a few dealers in person and they weren't budging from MSRP "given demand and limited availability." They were matter of fact about it and let me walk out and none of them even followed up (not even now, almost a week later.) I emailed my specifics to about 10 other dealerships after that. 4 responded with no quotes(I ignored them,) 3 echoed the MSRP price, and 3 others provided quotes within a few hundred dollars of the price I paid above.
I worked with Mike Alexanian @ Sloane Honda in Philadelphia and he and the finance manager were awesome - very straight forward and very respectful of my time. I would highly recommend them.
hot car a little below invoice (i get $183 below), low doc fee, no over priced add ons, well done
Day 1 via email: $33,266
Day 2 in person; $33,266
Day 2 in person: $33,016.89
I was even offering to get $1,000+ of accessories, said they'd only profit $50 on all that so it didn't really sweeten the deal for them that much.
Initially offered $31K in person and I was targeting $32,000 (7.5% below MSRP) ended up in a stalemate and left on positive terms. Hope for a callback on Monday saying they'd deal at $32K. They also reiterated the Honda qtr ends on Monday Jan 2.
Good luck!

Anybody who are in NJ, PA area, let me know if you are interested, I can provided more details.
I'm lucky in that I can wait a few months for the market to cool. I've told every dealer the same. I'm willing to pay 28.5k OTD on an EX-L. No trade in and cash offer.
I doubt I'll get it, but I figure one dealer might need to have one more car to push them over an annual sales goal and be willing to play ball with me.
What do you think? I'm guessing the car should be right at 28k (tax, tag, title, excluded)
Thanks and happy hunting!
