That's one good thing about Escort's system with their App, you'd have to buy a very expensive radar detector to make shill reports. I don't see police departments spending money on radar detectors instead of radar guns just to mess with the system.
However, I did suggest the Accord Hybrid if they had to have a hybrid, but I reiterated my argument that a hybrid didn't make sense for them, since they drive low miles now in retirement. They should just pocket the savings and buy a regular Accord Sport if they like that trim (I think they might like EX better, but it starts to get pretty pricey). They don't want anything even slightly bigger than an Accord (one reason a newer ES350 or ES350-Hybrid gets little consideration). They'd prefer something smaller.
Asking repeated Toyota owners to buy a Chevy is a tall order given they value reliability as much or even more than the fuel economy. Maybe when the Volt has proven itself for a couple more years in CR. I think the initial results are great if I remember correctly, but the Volt has been changed a lot, and really hasn't been around a long time either way.

I know it's him. Mike was the only one back then that would dare to drive a 3 HP Clydesdale wagon.
Now look at 'em, his radio has more HP than that.

Well, I've been a lifelong Honda-Mazda-Toyota owner and I made the switch. The Volt has prettystellar reliability ratings, and most people lease anyway. I have met so many people who bought the Volt for the mpg and are surprised how much they love it. It's not a penalty box for sure.

I have a feeling you are younger than my parents, if I had to guess. You know the old saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks? That being said, you do own a Buick, so maybe you are not younger! Ha!
I know the average owner age has been pulled down by Buick. Probably more due to death certificates than new buyers though
I'd feel more comfortable recommending the Volt after another year of "stellar" reliability results.
Modern versions that kind of look good are the 300/Charger and Challenger but none really give me that "gotta have it" feel. A guy at work just restored a 1970 383 Cuda and it looks so right compared to the awkward current version.

Also, doesn't the button have to be pushed for 3 seconds or more to shutdown the engine if you are moving? That is a good design feature so the button never accidentally goes "off," unless you are going 0 MPH.

The 1970 Challenger and Cuda were fabulous looking designs, though I always thought their interiors let them down, being very plasticky and cheap-looking.

Most makes you have to hold the button down while moving to shut the car off. This was one of things that came up during the whole Run-a-way Lexus thing that killed the family in California (and started the entire Toyota sudden unintended acceleration scandal).

These are my views of his little review too:
Good day, I'm trying to sell my 06 ACURA TL. This has been maintained at the dealer, with minimal miles, and has received many improvements. It has a clean record and it's in superb condition. Its paint is white and its interior is very tidy. You can't find a better deal anywhere. Brand-new tires, cool AC unit, automatic everything. The driver is a non-smoker. On the market for 1550 or please tell me your best offer. Hoping sell this car because of changes to my living conditions and I cannot it afford anymore. In case you would like the VIN number to check out the CARFAX I'll be glad to provide it to you. Thanks for reading my post
Overly polite. I noticed two guys at tennis are very "honesty challenged" to put it politely, but do they ever come across as overly polite and nice....too nice. The same in business...just be up front an honest, overly polite and I have become suspicious, and I have been right about 95% of the time. I like casual in an ad, funny, light....but, I am overly suspicious of extremely polite.

Wow, that's the super rare V8 TL. That's a 1 of 1 rarity!
Unfortunately, they only had 1, and it was a FWD Accord V6 with an Acura and A-Spec badge. I joke, but I'm almost certain GG got the real deal SH-AWD?
Even with just 290 HP, was easy to spin the front wheels on a rapid start 90 degree turn test I always like to employ. I do like the looks and the interior though. This one was the all stark black interior with plain metallic white exterior though. Alcantara is good in that it definitely holds you better in hard turns. I'd say it probably has triple or quadruple the friction of leather. I liked the way it drove, especially in Sport + mode. Regular sport mode seemed "normal" to be honest. I'd definitely like it if they dropped the twin turbos from the NSX into this puppy though.
One last edit: They had an NSX, $220,000 with a $20,000 ADM (LOL!) It does get 21 MPG though!
I remember one time back in the mid 70's when I had a performance review, my manager told me how well I was doing then proceeded to tell me I was getting the standard merit increase per company policy. I said something like "isn't that a contraction". He said, "yeah and I can see your point. Let me take your request to my boss". Fortunately, it worked and I got another couple percent which I knew was more than most guys were getting because I heard all the rumblings. I wasn't going to rock the boat so I pretty much ducked out of any conversations when I saw where they were going.
Fast forward to when I was forced to take a management position (that is a story in itself and someday I might tell about that fiasco. It's a lot more than 150 words). Anyway, when the budgets came out I could see that they were being cut and I would have a hard time looking my guys in the eye and trying to present the "company line". I was irate and slammed the packet on my desk and loudly said, "I'll be damned if I'm going to go along with this sh**t". I shouldn't have been so loud because I forgot that my office door was open and my secretary came running in and said, "what's going on". I didn't answer her but she saw the packet on my desk and she knew what it was. She just said, "OH" and calmly backed out of my office and closed the door.
To make a looong story short, when I calmed down I devised a plan that I would take to my boss (not the boss that I just mentioned). I told him that my group had been dumped on several times because "management" felt we were the best group to handle problems after they were given to another group or two without success. I told my boss that we were good enough to handle problems that others couldn't handle so we should be good enough for more than a "standard merit increase". He agreed and told me he would take it up the ladder to see what could be done. I mentioned that I would be more than happy to go with him when he presented my case. He got very hyper and said, "jmonroe, I don't think that would be a good idea. Let me do it my way. I'll get back to you ASAP". To have some fun, as I was leaving his office I said, "and don't forget to get a little more for me too in your budget while you're at it". He just shouted as I opened the door, "I knew you were going to zing me with that". Now I'm standing at his secretary's desk and she said, "jmonroe, what did you do now"? I think she said that because I had a reputation for being a PITA sometimes. I told her I couldn't say but she pretty much guessed what it was given the time of the year it was and she was my secretary for about a year before moving up a notch. Thankfully, I got a bigger budget but I could only pull that off twice, not that I didn't try on other occasions.
I can tell you first hand, pretty much like you said, if employees dislike reviews, managers dislike them just as much, maybe even more.
BTW, I didn't realize it at the time, but all I was doing was what we have learned in here about buying a car..."if you don't ask, you don't get".
Man, am I glad that I don't have to do that anymore.

I also went to see it when it first came out. The salesman was very reluctant to even show it to me. He finally opened it for me, I squeezed inside and discovered I could not even sit up straight in it. I left disappointed.

It was really a previous generation SLK so it's size was a known quantity when I test drove. I just barely could squeeze in but I was so hot to drive it I didn't care. What killed the deal for me is that the 3.2L non turbo just wasn't very fast. That and the price.

The Buick Encore is the first GM car we have owned. We took a chance on it because at there was no other vehicle like it. We just love how luxe it feels at a non-luxe price. Its kinda the Swiss Army knife of vehicles -- does everything well. The Volt, again -- there really isn't any other vehicle to compare it to -- nothing affordable with the combo of features, mpg, and lack of range anxiety. One tries something different when the usual manufacturers -- Honda, Nissan, Mazda -- aren't making the vehicles one wants to buy.

But, my second choice was Black over Red, which they didn't have. Then, there's the blue over red that I've only seen pictures of.....which clashes a little. That said, it's not like mine looks all the demure to begin with.
I believe the ZF 9 speed is mapped differently and has had a revamp as it's nothing like the last version of that transmission I drove in a '15 TLS I test drove a while ago.
I keep mine in Sport + nearly always. Only time I don't is when I'm on the highway. Speaking of which, you can tell where the car industry is going with autonomous driving if my TLX is any indication. Tried the radar cruise and lane keep on the interstate last night. A little unnerving having it hold a constant speed and slow down when coming on traffic and my hand barely touching the steering wheel while the car keeps itself in the right lane. That's something that will take me a while to get used to.
That '06 TL OF showed the ad for is actually a good car, even though the seller (if he's legit) knows nothing of his car. V6 is what it came with. First Acura I bought was an '04 version of that car. Fun car. Torque steer was bothersome, but once you knew to hold on tight on hard acceleration, you sort of got used to it. That's when Acura was selling something like 50K TLs per year. I think their goal for the '18s is something like 35K for the '18 MY.
As far as suydam's Volt. I think I mentioned I test drove one when I was replacing the CTS. I actually liked that car....a lot....just not enough to plunk down my greenbacks on it, though.
Chris Brown's Aventador hits concrete barrier on Mulholland Drive. Off to the wrecking yard--a total.
In my opinion, the autonomous steering is not an essential option. However, I did get a special discount on my auto insurance policy for auto-cruise with self braking and blind spot monitors. Another discount was for the pedestrian safety and cross traffic safety feature (both front and rear) whereby the car will alert the driver with beeps in the rear of the car (letting you know that there is rear cross-traffic of a car, object or pedestrian) or a front alert (letting the driver know it is front cross traffic or pedestrian). If the driver does not take action within a second, the car brakes itself to avoid the collision in the rear or the front. Those features are, in my opinion, great for old geezers like me.
So Monday, I will be using the driver assist options for cruise and distance control as well as self steering for lane-keeping. I did notice that if the road curves and there are white or yellow lines visible on the road, the car steers through the curve by itself.

What if there are lane markings and then there are say pylons, or worse one of those cement barriers they sometimes put in the lane when they are working on the road? Driving on I-74 through Cincinnati was like a slalom event.
