    BIG good-looking car. Seeing it in person really brings the size of it into focus. Most people could stretch out on the seats and go to sleep.

    The one I saw recently had a nice body and interior but the engine sounded really tired. Smoked a bunch, too.

    Probably cheaper to fix a bad motor than body/interior. Yup, those were ginormous but good looking. Notice how tiny the wheels look. They're aftermarket (Torque-Thrust?) and probably bigger than OEM.

    Never a big fan of Mercs but I wouldn't kick a '63 Marauder out of my garage (it might not fit in though. ;)

    I was thinking the wheel size looked right even if they're bigger than stock. Maybe they look "tiny" on a 55 y/o car because we're living in the dub era now.

    60 Square Bird in the background. I had use of a 60 Starliner for the weekend. It had a NASCAR Engine, 390 with a huge 4 barrel carb, and 3 speed with overdrive and a suspension to match. The steering was way to sensitive for me to keep it going straight, but it was rock steady in curves. Without a doubt it was the most powerful car I've driven.

    Update: this was in 1960 in high school.

    Dark colored sedan in the background looks like a sturdy Briggs-bodied Mopar, hood looks a little lower than the first ones, I'll guess ~52 Plymouth or Dodge.

    The Jeep in the foreground has the tall grille that indicates the Willys CJ-3B unless it's a military surplus M-606. They raised the hood to accomodate the new Hurricane 4cyl.

    The jeep appears to be active Army with its stenciling on the side of the hood and the driver's being in Army uniform with the exposed white T-shirt and an officer's insignia on the cap.
    He appears to be lost and stopped for directions and is being shown an unfolded road map.
    There's the old Army joke of "Who else would be lost, must be an officer". But I can't say that, I served with some very fine Army officers.

    Dang, how did I miss that stenciling? There's a guy wearing a baseball cap that could be military issue too. Oddly the tire seems to have white lettering on it.

    In the back behind the T-Bird is a four post 1957 Chevy, looks like a BelAir.

    If you've ever had a ragtop w a plastic rear window you're probably cringing. :o

    It's a 1960 Tbird. Yes, the three taillights on each side and the three chrome strips on the rear fender. Also a sun roof was an option on the hardtop. IIRC it was $212.

    I can’t see it really clearly on my monitor, but, with the dog dish hubcaps and no obvious beauty panel between the chrome strips on the back fender, it just doesn’t seem like a BelAir to me. Anyone else have a better monitor or can see something I don’t?

    I asked if that car was a Bel Air when the photo was first posted but based purely on the visible pattern of the colours etc. We only get (over restored) Bel Airs over here as no-one brings in the lesser models so its those I see at car shows.

    Well, I'm familiar with them all including the top left Havoline except those cans on the bottom row. The closest I can match to those stripes is Cities Service but the bottom half of the can doesn't match.

    The Ford and Dodge were both kind of polarizing, like it or not, designs. That's Ok in my book though because it shows designers taking a creative chance. Gas for 23.9 plus stable pricing an no shortages. Well, that was before Wall Street and London got involved in oil and gas futures.

    This one is a Zastava 1100 but was sold in UK as a Zastava 55 I think




    it's 1/43rd scale so about three inches long

    Yup, that's a 1972 Zastava 101, essentially a license built Fiat 128 (unlike 128s exported to the US it's a 5-dr Hatch) and a mechanical near twin of the (Zastava)
    Yugo, a car that fell apart almost as quickly as Yugoslavia.

    That's not surprising. They only made 1,100 Firedome Estate Wagons in 1953, so chances are there are less than 100 left, and of those probably less than half running, and of those, just a handful presented at car shows.

    Found it. 208.4". Shorter than my F150 but about half a foot longer than our T&C
