There is an important lesson to be learned from this experience too; Are you sure you should be having red grapefruit juice or any grapefruit juice? Grapefruit juice can really mess up other medications. In any case, grapefruit juice is not good for you!

What a story. I was also wondering about the wisdom of drinking grapefruit juice. Both of us are on statins and we were each told not to drink it. Additionally, as a transplant recipient I was told grapefruit juice interferes with immunosuppressants. This may be a sign for you to stop drinking the stuff!
Or to stop taking the statins.

Drivers money saving tip if looking for an area rug:

We were looking for an area rug about 13 1/2 ft by 11 ft. Larger sizes can get expensive, most of the ones that are suitable are about $1200 to $1800, really nice ones are $3000+.

If you can find a roll of broadloom that you like, and there are some nice colors and textures, they will cut it and bind it and they work out to around $2 a sq ft.....we got the size we wanted for $500!

So you splurge on "real deal" cars, then buy imitation area rugs?

All members of the Tesla Collective Enterprise to Change Life On Earth must only refer to "the future", as if it were real. This way, if the future turns out to be real, we are Advanced Thinkers. So you are telling us you have a sort of “throw-away” cell phone.  I wonder about folks like you who are addicted to their PC platforms but dislike smartphones.  Hmmmm - not interested in texting either and no data.  A kind of “retired folks” phone.  Love it, driver!

For me, I get the heebeegeebees when I am separated from my smartphone for 5 minutes - 20 minutes and I would have a nervous breakdown

I've got an iPhone 5 still which came to me a year or two before I retired. It was my second smartphone, the first being a work Blackberry Torch which should have turned me off the things for life. Maybe it did because I like the iPhone well enough but use it very little. In fact I use it mostly for calls which I suspect is unusual for most people these days, with a bit of texting to a few people and very little else. Part of that is because data is ridiculously expensive in Canada so I have a very limited plan and that is why I don't use it much or even remember to take it with me sometimes. But I know that it seems I'm a minority here. There were 4 other people in the tire shop waiting room with me on Wednesday and 3 of them never once looked up from their devices the entire time I was there, 90 minutes or so. All females, interestingly.

I've read that "simple" cellphones with limited features are on a big comeback. They do have e-mail and some limited search capabilities, and cost as little as $60 bucks.

I have heeded the advice of my fellow posters and have stopped drinking grapefruit juice effective yesterday.  Immunosuppressants worry me because the psoriasis I developed in the last year that affects my fingers, knuckles and elbows is an auto-immune disease.  So now I drink Crystal Light Grape Drink instead of my morning grapefruit juice.  Who knows - maybe something good can come of this - thanks to all of you guys.  Thanks.

Thanks driver for your post as well about the grapefruit juice several days ago.

I am getting my cell phone service from t-Mobile.  For $50.00 per month, taxes and fees included, I get unlimited text, 4G LTE data and phone calls.  It’s a special plan they have for seniors, 55 and older IIRC.

I only use a couple of gigs of data per month because I am on WiFi most of the time.  IN THE FINE PRINT, if you use more than 30 gigs of data per month, they can reduce your priority on cell towers during busy times, which is really a good deal.

There is no t-Mobile up in Canada?

No, there are only 3 main carriers, Bell, Telus and Rogers.None of them offer reasonably-priced data plans. I could get one with 500mb per month plus the usual calling and text things I need for $50 to $60/mo. A couple of GB per month takes you to the $80-$100 range. I was reading something today that Canada has some of the most expensive cellular data in the world because of either collusion among the companies or govt regulatory complicity, not sure.

T-Mobile USA is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, which operates the T-Mobile or equivalent brand in most of Europe. Their headquarters is a few miles from where I live. There is no Canadian branch, and ab348 is right, Canada is renown for expensive wireless service.

I like grapefruit juice but strangely enough I rarely buy it. I'm a believer in, "a day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine". Good thing I believe in that because there hasn't been too much sunshine here in the Burgh this past Winter. Got so bad that one morning when I woke up and saw a bright light, I thought I did something wrong. Then my inner self told me what it was and I blurted out, "we'll pay for this". And we have and the cycle repeats. :@

You sunshine state guys have it nice.

    o.

Mike, you live in Florida.....what about good old Orange Juice? It doesn't block medications the way grapefruit juice does.

Grapefruit juice comes under the similar rule of expired foods; if in doubt, throw it out. Not worth risking it.
Your very welcome Mike, glad to be of some help.

Actually I think he was just throwing his weight around with someone who couldn't fight back. When he wasn't being my best buddy trying to sell me a car he was yelling at his sales staff. I've seen this kind of weak manager before. Has to prove to himself how important he is. We had a good laugh at his antics.

I stopped at the Kroger store. I was not assaulted with an umbrella. There were lots of older ladies around blocking the aisles with their carts, and I stayed out of the juice department.

Kind of a boring visit compared to some folks here.

I know the type...we have one of those in tennis. He knows all the rules. Once I said "Nice play" to my partner and he stopped playing and said it was his point since I talked during play. Technically, he is right, but, no one plays a friendly game that way. Now, when he isn't around and we aren't sure of a rule we say something like, "According to rule number 365.4 in the official rule book........."

The left front blinker on my Prelude cracked from a road rock.  I ordered a new one online &  replaced it in less than 30 seconds.

Our 2017 Pilot Touring didn’t come equipped with a trailer hitch.  Apparently Honda had some problems with grenading 9-Speed Automatics.  So if you want to tow with your Pilot, they want a hitch, wiring harness, & transmission oil cooler.  I was going to just go ahead an order and OEM Honda trailer hitch, but while I was looking, I found a company called E-Trailer.  They showed a trailer hitch by a company named Curtis. They make an American made trailer hitch that was a lot cheaper than the OEM Honda hitch.  Then I put that number in Amazon and found it even cheaper.  I paid about $150 including shipping.

It it took me a little over an hour to install.  It would have been easier if I had someone else (or 2 someone else’s) helping me.  But I didn’t.  So I enlisted the help of my 2 ton hydraulic floor jack, my scissor jack, and a piece of 2 x 4.

The holes where the hitch gets installed are predrilled.  The hard part was lifting this 50 lb unbalanced steel trailer hitch about 10” off the ground and up to my Pilot’s Chassis.  I put the trailer hitch on the 2x4 to balance it out, then jacked it up and let the torque wrench do it’s job.

I’m proud of myself.  Now I can load 5 bikes On the back of the Pilot and we can start riding.
Nice work!  Sounds like a solid Saturday.

I've installed several hitches from e trailer, all on Ford Escapes. The installation video's on their site are helpful.
The hitches I've installed needed the bolts to be fished through the frame.

All those issues with wrestling a very heavy piece is why I paid the local trailer shop to install it on the RDX and Odyssey. The Ody also required cutting out part of the rear bumper cover, because the OEM kinda tucked away behind that (aftermarket ones hung way down and looked terrible) and required various other parts removed. I think the RDX one just hoisted into place and bolted up.

and after 5.5 years, I finally used it last week to take the bikes to the store to get tuned up, so we could finally ride them again.

Installed on two T&Cs and the LR2. Kits all from etrailer. Easy stuff. Although the '08 T&C required I take the exhaust off the rear few hangers.

Carrying bikes shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully you do not encounter unrelated transmission problems down the road though. A dealer may see the hitch sans oil cooler and claim that was the cause.
