    I know there won't be much new to see, but should be fun anyway. I'm planning on going on Friday from open until about 4pm.

    Team IAC did the last HPDE for this year @ Limerock yesterday, we had a ball!

    Adam, Zephyr and Myself were enlisted to instruct the n00bs, so I got to show a guy with a Grand Prix AT the way around the track in an AT. He was real happy cause his last instructor was a vette driver and rarely ever drove an AT. He had a ball and got the line down very well!

    Cool, mike. How'd you like the Wide Track? Must've felt big compared to Franken L.

    Hey guys,
    I know you all love to drive, and love to hang. Well here is a whole weekend of driving and hanging. It's the 3rd Annual 48hrs of Tri-state driving tour. We will depart from Long Island on Jan 1 and treck up to Danbury, CT and then up to Albany. We'll sleep there and then do backroads across the southern Adirondacks to the Great Lakes and on to Niagara Falls Canada for a night of Gambling, Gaming, and other Vices!

    We then travel through scenic central NYS down to Ithaca, and then down to Philadelphia. We will dine at Dave and Busters and visit some local sites in philly! Sunday we will catch a diner for breakfast and then head down to Deleware and over to Cape May, NJ. Then up the GSP toward Woodbridge where we will have our closing dinner! 1500 miles of backroads.

    This will not only be fun, but we are asking people to collect donations for our charity, which this year is MADD. Last year we raised about $800 for the American Cancer Society and over $1000 For the WTC Victims in '02. If you can't come, we ask you donate or help get a business to sponsor our event with door prizes etc.

    Here is the link on Nasioc with the info.

    I can vouch for this being a fun trip. There's somethign nice about doing a drive with your fellow Subaru enthusiasts over a long weekend, meeting people along the way. At the same time, we get to show our community involovement by raising funds for a good cause.
        The big thing that makes this such a success each year is the people participating. So come on out and join us for 3+days of fun and driving and hanging out.

    Going to TX on the 1st. One of these years I'll make it.
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    There's a change in direction of the benefit.
    Instead of running to benefit MADD, the group have redirected its effort closer to home [Paterson, NJ] for a cancer stricken little 2 yr old name Amarylis Lozada.

    Hey everyone,
    I have one extra ticket for the DC Auto Show for the first taker. I plan to head over there on Friday, 12/26 around 10:30 AM. Since I'm flying out for the holidays later that evening, you have a small window to acquire said ticket. Email me at scott.douglas@hhs.gov today to reserve it.

    We're not sure what day we're going, and I'd rather be sure someone got that freebie. Anyone?

    Scott Douglas was nice enough to give me his extra ticket to the DC car show. We hooked up and spent about a 3/4 of an hour together checking out the cars until he had to leave to catch a flight to Denver, or thereabouts.

    This is my first time to the all-new DC Convention Center, and it is huge!

    Most interesting car there: The new Rolls Royce Phantom. Like the the DCCC, it too is huge!

    Got a good chance to cross compare the 3rd row seat of the Toyota Sequioa and that of the Armada. The Sequoia wins this one. One thing I noticed in the Armada, for some strange reason, the 3rd-row headliner is about 1" thicker than the headliner for the front and middle seats. This results in 1" less headroom. I can't figure out why they did that. It's not because of the shape of the roof.

    I also cross-compared the Titan Crew cab with the new F-150 Crew Cab. The Titan is the hands down winner in the rear seat area.

    As to the Subie display, nothing new other than the '04 Bajas (turbo & Sport).

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    If Sequoia beats Armada, Expedition kills it.

    Glad to hear you guys met up, our nanny left at noon so there was no way to go without the kids. I may go next week, do you think it'd be worth it?

    Did you catch the Sienna? The DCX fold away seats?

    http://www2.naias.com/images/floorplan.htm?sectionID=230

    The Subaru main booth is next to Hummer, and catty-corner from Rolls Royce (and a whole string of exotics... hmmm...); and grouped with all of GM's brands (and brand-lites) in the upper right area of the main floor. If you look at the floor plan, it appears all the large car corporations have grouped there respective brands together.

    Note there is a Subaru Driving Performance Center on the lower level, where I suspect juice and I will have a "Rally good time."

    Juice-

        You could always join the 48HR crowd at D&B's in Philly tomorrow night:-) We're slated to get in there around 8 pm or so. Anyone in the Philly area can come.

    BTW- Heard from Mike this morning - they woke up to 1-3" of snow in the Albany area for the first leg of the trip. I'll be joining them in Niagara Falls tonight, once I get out of work.

    The 48hrs crew is all ready to do another Road Trip to Indiana. As soon as patti gets me the info I'll start arranging that. We even were able to collect everyone's pics onto my laptop and I burned CDs for everyone at the closing dinner to take home with them!

    Had a great time, once again.

    The only down side for me was riding most of Sunday with a CEL. Thanks to Mike & the "road crew" of the 48hr gang. Mike pulled out a scanner & diagnosed the problem as missfire on cylinders 1 & 2; then the other folks stepped in while we were waiting for the Cape May ferry and removed, cleaned, regapped, and re-installed sparkplugs 1 & 2. All within 20 minutes! Unfortunatley the CEL came on again driving up the GSP. Plus my headlight went out that afternoon!(thanks for reminding me Dennis) I have to contact Flemington to find out when I can get out there for that leak down test one of the guys suggested.

    Aside from that - when do we go to Indiana? I'm still game for that:-)

    Only cause I know a bunch of college kids who want to go but who couldn't go til after they get back from school. Also we have to see when Patti can arrange for us to get in, etc.

    Should try to plan it with the working folks more in mind, not that I'm working... yet.
    The school kids will have their days in abundance, but the working folks have to squeeze as much out of their available vacation days :)

    June has less track days than May :)

    For the culturally ignorant, can you clarify some of the abbreviations of locations

    Thanks, Robert
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    LRP=Limerock Park
    WGI=Watkins Glen International
    VIR=Virginia International Raceway
    Summit= Summit Point Raceway
    Jefferson= Jefferson Circuit (@Summit Point)
    Shenandoah= Shenandoah Circuit (@Summit Point)
    Beaver Run= Beaver Run Raceway
