At the last minute, I decided to hit the Baltimore car show today. It was a real downer after Detroit. No new Legacy. No new Saab 9-2x. No new Pathfinder, yet they had a brochure(!?!?) on it. The QX56 was there, along with the new RWD Dodge/Chrysler duo, and the refreshed GM minivans. Yawn...

The only certain day for me would be 1/31 and then only if my out-of-town visitor wants to come along with me. After that it would be 2/2-5 evenings only. I will be out of commission 2/6-8.

I'll make a special effort to come if I find out the '05 Legacy will be there.

Seems like we're still all over the board regarding a date. Looks like this will turn out to be an individual event unless we can get some agreement on one or two dates.

...it's not like people in Philly will be throwing big Super Bowl parties. Then again, they now don't have an excuse to stay away from the Auto Show.

Actually, after careful consideration, it looks like either 1/31, 2/1 or 2/8 would be doable for the Philly show.

I just noticed in another thread that they had the new Legacy in Utah. It was up on pedastal and roped off.

Now I'm wondering if it's worth it to go to Philly if the Legacy is roped off there as well.

If it's roped off, it's useless for me to go...

Patti, do you know if it'll be available to sit in?

Hmm... I can get a flight into Philadelphia on Friday morning the 6th and leave that evening for $150 roundtrip. Where's the auto show in relation to the airport?

It's about a 30 minute train ride (R1 line) (9 mile drive) from the airport to the Convention Center (Market East station). $5.50 each way.

So far 5 crew and 3 guests.

My parents may be coming with me. So that's 2 more.

    Total = 5 crew + 5 guests + Patti.

Can we count you in, Frank?

Since we are assuming Frank isn't bringing up his XT(come on Frank, you could probasbly make it pretty quick)I'm assuming you and Mike are going to give us the street course racing demo in Philly??

    so have fun peeps ;-)

Dang, I knew I should have gone ahead and bought that ticket last night! A sale obviously ended yesterday since today's prices are $80 higher. However, I didn't buy because I remembered that there's a good possibility that I can time a business trip to coincide with the auto show. I'll keep you posted.

Enjoy the 6th. Be sure to let us know any new info. I guess I'll just make the NY show.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Why don't the rest of you try to pick a 2nd date, and go?

It's almost better when we split up because the 2nd group can catch whatever the 1st group missed. I thought paisan did good job following up after the 2002 NY Auto Show, his pics answered several questions we couldn't.

I may try for the very crowded first day 1/31, with my out-of-town guest. If not maybe 2/3, 4 or 5 after work, train in and out.

I'd like to suggest that afterward we go and do an early dinner @ The Spaghetti Warehouse (if it's still open). Food is decent, prices are decent, parking lot is big, and free parking.

What do the folks going on 2/6 feel about that?

    -mike
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Who all is going on the 6th?

    GenROLL aka Hypov
    Bob
    Patti

...be it for the auto show, flower show, or whatever, I always make it a point to eat at Vietnam on 11th Street. I recommend it highly.

    Ed
  • dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
I'll be there. I think my parents are coming too.

Mike - How far away is the Spaghetti Warehouse from the CC? We're taking the train, so if it's too far to walk, we'll need to hitch a ride from someone.

Patti - what time do you plan to arrive? How do we get the free tickets?

    DaveM
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
It's maybe 10-15 blocks away. Too far to walk, but we can definitely send some people over to get seats for us, and I or others can shuttle folks back and forth from the CC.

Hey guys, thanks for the moral support earlier. Charlie just got home after the surgery and is doing well. Little boy is a warrior.

Looks like he'll be fine for the Philly trip, you guys will probably even meet him!
