He was so proud of himself when he said "Nobody bid on this car".

True, it's a nothing car worth nothing, but it's clean, warm, dry and takes you places! For him, $1 a day.

Verdict:? A good buy! He could probably flip it for $1,200.

Heck the brand new contis are worth more than he paid for the car. Plus a brand new motor craft battery. Surprised some little car lot didn’t show interest.

That one amused me as my mom had a white 93 Taurus GL, but with a more dignified blue interior (which I didn't mind). It had a few more options than the video car, I think, but also the 3.8. Via that, my mom ditched it at 80K when it lost a head gasket.

Sometimes a cheap car is harder for a dealer to sell than a more expensive one. But you're right, one of those "buy here, pay here" car lots with a financial "mouse house" should have picked it up.

Another good Youtuber who is into project cars - this guy/kid (I think he's no more than ~20) is entertaining to me, works at a family junkyard, is also interested in ordinary cars. Fun video here too.

I think of Brock Yates test driving one of these for C/D back in the 80's. Cincinnati dealer listed on BaT with description: "The body is finished in Teal Blue Metallic with grey lower body cladding. The selling dealer believes the hood has been repainted, though the included Carfax report shows no recorded accidents or other damage. Rust is noted on the lower front fenders near the bumper."
2 more days to go on the auction currently at $4,500.

I think there are probably enthusiasts for most any vehicle. They get that way through experience, nostalgia, or whatever. I think that is cool really. I can get excited by a 4 door or wagon sometimes if it rings a bell for me. While not a big fan personally, I appreciate the Tempo as the little sibling to the rounded off Thunderbird and Taurus design era.

Wonder if Edmunds is up for a reboot of the 2005 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG Long-Term Road Test.
"This time the mileage is 3x higher and expectations are lower!" If you pay the dealer asking price for the S600 and then decline $13,632.74 in repairs it's going to be cheaper than the CL65 experiment.

Autocheck reports RIGHT FRONT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE on 08/21/2016 and SLIGHT DAMAGE REPORTED VEHICLE WAS TOWED on same date.

shocking that a few of those "by owner" listings actually seem to be by owner. Most of them are obviously dealers.

I like the Miata. Can rattle can that baby right up. Maybe use a paint roller. But that giant sub 2" from your head would need to go. The Magnum, if legit as described, seems like a good deal. The S600, no.

If that S600 wasn't a repaired wreck, it would be tempting, cool car and insanely rare color, definitely no more than a population in the double digits for that spec. Frazer looks like a decent enough driver, and not bad for the money, cheap and cheerful way to get into old cars. The seats in that NYer look so comfy, and that was nice quality leather too IIRC.

would work for me as a 2nd car, since it would not get used much. Something weird like this would have been in the plans if my wife had decided to trade in the RDX on a newer version (or comparable CUV), since I would not have gotten something nice like the TLX.

Anyone know why Vettes of many years had that sheet metal shielding over the distributor/wires? Their ignition system wasn't all that different, right? Was it because the fiberglass body didn't offer much interference shielding to the radio?

That's a neat little van. The club wagons looked extra-awkward on this early implementation of Econoline due to the tiny drivetrain and short wheelbase. But, still, would be fun to drive. And, yes, it really would be fun to drive (but not in a sporty way)! However, price seems ridiculous to me since I know how much of a nightmare it would be to try and put that thing to right.

You of all people probably know this, but it bears repeating for the class:
This is the "extended" version, which -- if I remember right -- involved cutting off the back and and welding on a longer piece. Take a close look!
And as far as I know, that's how the extended-length econolines were built at least until the upgrade to the final body style, in '90 or '91.

Yes, it was exactly that (at least in appearance if not in actual construction)! However, with the introduction of the actual Econoline as a full-sized van in 1968 came a longer wheelbase as standard, and it also included a long-wheelbase version used for the club wagons. So while the look of the vehicle remained the same (e.g., the added on section on the back), the proportions were decidedly better in both a visual and mechanical sense.

I believe that Dodge did the grafted-on rear section with their extended vans right to the end. Those things were dangerously unstable when fully loaded.

Saw a 2nd gen X5 yesterday emitting about 10x as much blue smoke as the fintail lets out when it is unhappy. Sounds like a fun project.

Wow, that Aerostar is in shockingly nice condition! Bummer that it is not the electronic AWD. That was an excellent ?AWD implementation for the vehicle, with normal RWD functionality with the front axle kicking in (rather seamlessly) when needed. Looks like two sets of wheels for it? Seems like an excellent buy for someone, though I imagine it will not fine the type of home it has had for the last 25 years.

Yeah, the Aerostar needs a preservationist, or it will be ran into the ground. I noticed the wheels too.

Also note it is a Canadian market car. I remember at the end of production, an insane amount of these sport cladded late run models were sold in BC, they were everywhere. Now they are maybe just more common on the road than a Hyundai Pony.
