Well it's kinda rare, but the GT was just an option on the Swinger I think.

That's a nicely-equipped Dart, with the 340/4 speed. Guy at the gas station I worked at had one, drove it HARD...

I love that Dart. My kind of classic car. But not at that price.

Likewise. That is the generation of Dart I like best with the chamfered nose and angled tail, and that one is in a great color combo. But that price is steep.

A Dart Swinger 340 with Pebble Beach Quality could easily top $35K. Of course, it would take about 85K to get there, but.....

I always thought it was a nice clean style, having the ground effects but being monochromatic. I like that car. Hard roof and 5.7 are pluses. AT is a minus

You are not going to believe this, not only is today my 40th anniversary of my first full time job(software), but my wife asked me about an envelope that arrived today.
I would have looked at it and thrown it out, looked like some solicitation from some school I didn't recognize.

Those Town Coupes just don't have the right proportions, IMO. The Mark VI was nicer. They are probably the rarest Panther platform cars ever produced not that it means anything, lol

I think the uneven finish on old wood is due to the varnish/clearcoat cracking. It seems to impact old Jags more than others, although the same thing happens on old MBs exposed to temperature variances, especially the console wood.
  • ab348ab348 Member Posts: 20,284
Yeah, they use real wood veneer so it expands/contracts with temperature/humidity changes. One of the few instances where fake wood is better.

That Lincoln 2-door looks like it was designed with only a T-square. For the same money, the Caddy is a better choice.

The price on the 308 is in dreamland territory.

The late 90s hit this one hard

These used to be a lot cheaper

RE: 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi QV

These were always at the top of the 308 heap, being QV and FI. The "QV" can be worth an extra $20K. There's a real pecking order on these cars. Nonetheless, he's about $10K too high. At 60,000 these are pretty much parts cars, so 44,000 is pushing it in vintage Ferrari-Land.

Bad as it is and considering what little of it is left, that CL Chevelle still reminded me of my neighbor's '64 Chevelle. After school we'd go cruising and looking for car parts. First mod for his car was to convert the 3 on the tree to a floor shifter. But as posted earlier, the first mod for that CL Chevelle is a donor car for the convertible VIN plate.

The asking price for that Chevelle would probably make a lot more sense if you injected an hallucinogen into the base of your skull, I suppose.

Just go buy one already done....clean driver $32K...turn the key, that's it!

GRATE DEAL ! "This is what they call celebrity or Hollywood car ,it adds to its collectable value, $45,000.! potential , restored value !"

I could get a lot more out of it butt I need it gone (Could get more without that wing on its butt.)

It runs but needs brake work. Has rust. Not worth restoring. Another wing and no prayer!

unless that Chevelle shell is some ultra rare SS model, what's the point of getting the VIN tag? Unless you want to take a coupe and chop it up? Seems like it would still be cheaper to buy an actual convertible.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,347
did not realize that the Newport was a 4 door. That makes it even sillier.

and the Robert Vaughn ratty roller. How much would that cost if you brought it to a pro and asked for it to be restored to clean #2 driver quality? $100,000? More?

I guess if you want to have some fun, and have some talent, making a custom out of it (ditching all the hydraulic craziness, small block Chevy, etc.) could work. Just not financially.

Wings seem to be an epidemic among the kool kids. In the vintage Olds Cutlass/4-4-2 world they are a scourge at present. Those who have been involved with the cars for a while and know the history generally don’t like wings on those cars, and they look hideous on non-fastback bodies, but now that retro wings are available cheap many young owners are ruining the looks of their car with them. Same thing is happening with OAI hoods. It seems you can scarcely find a ‘70-72 4-4-2 these days without one.

RE: The Rolls Royce --little know factoid that I remember from a purchase. You see that large hydraulic reservoir in the engine bay photo (foreground) that has all those little machine bolts holding the lid on?

Those are $6 apiece. So don't be an idiot and lose them. (Ask me how I know). And yes, of course, the thread cut is totally alien technology never before seen in America. No Home Depot for those.
  • omarmanomarman Member Posts: 2,702
Those were all 1974 vehicles and the Detroit iron still seems appealing to me now. At least the Chrysler would still be appealing without the wing thing. Like this one:

And there's no talk of bringing back the lighter F100 which was dropped by 1984. We're now living in the $100K pickup truck era.

I dunno about eating off your engine, but do people still cook food on their engines? I remember seeing that some years ago and it seemed to be a trend for a while to put foil-wrapped food on your intake or whereever and let it soak up the heat for a while.
